Name: Ignatz Valtiel "Devil-Eye" Abendroth

Age: Seventeen, born September 22

Gender: Male :Male

Background:

Ignatz, more commonly known as Iggy, Val, or Aben, was born and raised in a middle-lower class life, going through two fathers and ending up hating the both of them as time passed, you'd think things would be hectic... But moreso, they were stressful.

He was rather liberated at home, but never quite getting the luck to grow up in a good neighborhood he was kept sheltered, and therefor grew up enigmatic and estranged, fascinated by stories of the fantastic and, surprisingly, the horrific. When he did starte school it was this and his slightly 'large' body that kept him distant, not to mention it was a Christian school, which preached against those things he found dear. Needless to say the days were long.

At home he was trapped, unable to go anywhere and, since it was such a small house, he had little to no privacy. He couldn't go anywhere because of the state of the neighbourhood (and truth be told he didn't like anyone around there anyway), so he spent most of his time either on the computer or outside. He practiced many hobbies to occupy the immense amount of extra time he had, and as he got older he got more fit, and more rebellious.

Things were going to get better when he was ten, when his mother remarried into, of all luck, great wealth. In addition to his five siblings he gained five more, but for the first time he had a room, and real world social freedom... In addition to the freedom to actually experiment scientifically, something he wasn't able to do before-hand (although he did "Improvised Autopsies" on many animals, dead or otherwise). He gained a few friends like himself in addition to the friends he had online, but because of his nature of hiding his true hobbies and intentions still found it difficult to make 'good' friends. And after hearing so many stories from his old and new family, he began to once again feel... Inadequate, bound. They went through so much more, did so much more, and at least to him had greater skill than he could possess. Not the adults, his siblings as well.

But he began to feel a little less so at thirteen, when he ran away from home to catch his first Pokémon. He had seen many Pokémon and dissected at least ten that year, but never saw one he was willing to call his own. So, he checked out the more dangerous parts of the city he lived in for them, especially industrial zones.

He had been out searching for hours, before coming to the second to last stop at around 8:00 PM, to a very unique place. An abandoned factory that used to cut sheet metal, but after deadly gasses used by the factory seeped into the air and chaos insued, the factory was shut down. Now every thing had leaked out, but a small stream of cooling liquid kept half of it at frosty temperatures.

He hadn't known what to expect, so he simply took everything he thought would be useful in two duffle bags, which among other things included a home made air gun and a Super Soaker modified into a short range Flamethrower, along with a host of explosives he could be arrested for if he was older. And entering the factory he felt every bit of it would be needed. He wound through all of the broken machinery, before finally coming across something intriguing... A host of metal sheets cut and crudely put together to form a very sharp looking shelter. He peeked inside, but soon regretted it as sharp blades slashed at his face and barely missed both of his eyes (one of which wouldn't have mattered), and instead caught his Fedora. He had disturbed a mother Sneasel and her egg, and was paying the full price. Again and again he was slashed at, loosing more blood than he was shedding himself, until the Sneasel got her claws stuck in a thick steel pillar. He took his chance, and soon the Sneasel was writhing on the ground in flames. For a moment he thought to simply catch her, but wanting a Pokémon more compassionate towards him he took the egg. He ran out and sprayed his path with small streams of fire, but at the end took a bit of pity and threw his sandwich behind him for the Sneasel to find. Afterwards he ran back home, and that's the story of how he got his first Pokémon.

He made a good relationship with Celise, his Female Sneasel, over the time that followed, and since he raised her from birth he finally found someone he could confide all to. The Sneasel ended up being quite secretive with all but him, and when they were the only two around she was quite playful, and like her 'father' a bit sadistic. Together they performed even more experiments and trained together. Still, he was bitter, and that took even longer to change... And much, much more pain.

It seemed nearly routine. He was outside two years later working on, of all things, a Thermite grenade. At the time he was making sure the mixture was proper, with vials and dishes of this and that set about... Unfortunately he had forgotten a bit of cinder, which blew into one mixture and caused a chain reaction which Val was helpless to stop, and could only push Celise out of the way before the Thermite explosives themselves went off. He was splattered in small bits of the mixture all over and it went right through his clothes, quickly melting the skin. But worst of all it hit his face, and got into his right eye. His writhing (of course coupled by blood curdling screams) was sufficient to get most of it off, along with his own skin, but there was nothing anyone could do, even when his family got there, to save the now scorched socket that was his eye.

Hospitalization lasted nearly a month, and in that time they managed to at least keep the socket from being damaged too much. Charcoal from the chemicals got into the melted flesh though, and turned it a permanent speckled black, as with other parts of his body. He was a morbid sight without his bandages, nigh demonic. Three and a half weeks after the incident his medical stay ended, but he would go back in three days for physical and mental therapy. In the meantime he could get a prosthetic eye to fill the empty socket. At first Val rejected getting a new eye, citing that he'd keep 'whatever scars came'. But after serious thought and slight pressure he agreed... As long as he could commission a special eye.

When he came into therapy, even the nurses seemed unnerved by the boy. It was not that he seemed overly horrific, but the blackened and burned flesh around a single Black, red, and white slit eye was enough to bring discomfort to many. Therapy was short, and soon he was completely accustomed to a single eye.

In a way, Val was better than ever. He felt that he now knew what pain was like, which let him feel on equal standing with the rest. He finally had a great story of his own, and the scars to prove it. Most of all, he had his glass eye. Black on the sclera, red on the iris, and white on the slit pupil it was demonic and seemed to stare at you no matter what angle you were at. It was a symbol of his new pride and released previous bonds on his psyche, letting him feel more free than ever before. It was probably this spur of emotion that led him to decide to leave his home, backpack and duffle bag in tow, with an even more bonded Celise by his side.

He told no one, but it didn't surprise people, with the adventurous spirit the boy had. And indeed he displayed that spirit well, travelling all through the different Continents and eventually coming upon Sinnoh. He breezed through much of it, but once he came to the mountains, Celise's natural instincts took over, and she started hunting for eggs in the dark cavern. Since Val had nothing of great importance to do, he let the young Sneasel do her hunting... Which led so deep into the mountains that he wasn't sure he could backtrack. Eventually though Celise found her prize- an egg buried in rocks. She was overjoyed and tried to take a bite out of it, only to discover it was as hard as steel. Intruiged by the egg's unique properties and unsure of what else to do with it, Val carefully packed the egg up and finally made it out of the caverns four hours later.

With no where else to go he started his dissection experiments on a more serious scale again, and started making money for better supplies... Soon though, he bored, and looked for a new land. In the meantime a very big event happened. His egg hatched and out popped Riolu, who's aura gave Val an unfamiliar sense of true compassion... But they're slowly working towards being more compatible. Currently Riolu has no name, but he's working on one.

With nowhere else to go, though, he's off to Mistree.

Appearence: Val is a well built guy, 5'11 and 173 lbs. He's sharp featured and fair skinned, and has a thick build. His hair, which is usually left longer in the front and short and spikey on the rest, is raven black with chestnut highlights normally, but the chestnut has been turned a deep red with dying. His left eye is a beautiful shade of blue, but his right eye is a complete negative, and has a slit pupil. Overall he has the appearance of a handsome young German boy, except for patches of his skin and a full inch around his 'demon eye' which is darkened, red and speckled black.

Clothing wise, he wears whatever seems suitable at the time, or simply whatever's clean. In social situations he likes the more eye-catching stuff, usually in a gothic style (medieval and modern). Out in the field he likes to wear clothing that's durable but comfortable. To generalize he usually wears a black trench coat with a red eye-motif vest, a black undershirt, Black straight-legged jeans, and red sneakers with a self-made eye button on the front of each. He also wears a variety of eye-patches like most do jewelry, but his favorite seems to be a simply, large piece of white cloth with a stylized red eye on it.
