As good questions are asked and answered, they will be added to this thread for all to see. -------------------------- Q: I wanna join but OMG I'M LOST, WHAT DO I DO?! A: Not difficult! :D 1) Go to Laws of the Board - read the Rules. 2) Go to Enrollment - There's a template provided with necessary information for your character. 3) Post character, wait for approval by the admins. 4) Once approved, you're in. -------------------------- Q: I am not allowed to post or reply in some forums. What’s up with that? A: That's because you probably do not have an accepted character profile on the board. A user group was created for members of the board with accepted characters; they are able to post nearly anywhere. if you DO have an accepted character and are getting any error messages, PM an admin and it will be fixed asap. -------------------------- Q: How do I get a dorm? A: Simple. 1) Once your character is accepted, go to School Grounds - Dormitories. 2) The first thing you will see on your screen is Dorm Assignments 3) All necessary information will be listed there including who stays where, what rooms are available, what they look like, etc. 4) Once you're ready, post your request as per the template. A staff member will approve it. 5) Profit! You have your dorm room. -------------------------- Q: Admin! This character is being mean to me. Does this person hate me? A: Despite the near joking tone of this particular topic, this tends to happen quite a bit. First, realize the difference between game and reality. Not all characters will instantly like your character, no matter how kind and a friend to all your character might be. That's just how it goes. Instead, use that conflict to your advantage - conflict is fun! Unless you have done something to offend the player personally, then go with it. If you really feel a person is attacking you through their character, try to at least reach out to them. Sometimes it's simple misunderstanding. Most of our players here know well enough the difference between reality and the game. -------------------------- Q: What counts as god-modding? I did read the rules, but I still would like some examples so I do not get in trouble! A: Okay, you read the rules but you're not entirely sure what counts as god-modding. That's fine, this is why we have such an FAQ. God modding is a form of the phrase God Mode, and this means when you elevate your character up to a level above what is natural or what is stated in your character sheet. This is when one of the following are committed: • Avoiding/dodging every hit or taking little damage in a battle. • Controlling the reactions or actions of the opposing character. • Assuming that you scored an attack and/or stating your hit's damage. That's just a few examples. These kind of offenses occur when it comes to battles. Know your character's limitations and abide by them, but also play your character's strengths. Just because your character is a martial artist does not mean you get to hit a character every time or dodge every attack. Give and take a little. Otherwise, we have to moderate and we crack down hard on god modding. Same with Metagaming, to which we have a handy little guide to [here]. -------------------------- Q: My RP partners and I finished a post. What next? A: 1) Go to Finished Threads. 2) Read the pinned topic: "Finished Thread Template". Follow it. 3) Post it. A mod or admin will close the thread and award XP. -------------------------- Q: Yeah, I was gone for a while and came back. I don't see my character in the database. Where is he/she and how do I get my character in there? A: We periodically purge the database for inactives and send them into the archive. Just message one of us and we'll put it back in the active database asap. In the event you're a previous member from way before (like EZboard Or InvisionMHS), you will have to re-submit your character (or if you want, make a new one) following the guidelines and profile we have [Here] and we'll look it over for approval. -------------------------- Q: I want to make a local person who lives and works around Axiom? What's the difference between that and a student? A: The main thing is that at this time, no one in Axiom will have graduated MHS. MHS itself only reaches out to students who are in real need of help when it comes to their abilities. Your character could have likely just not gone to the school. Furthermore, living in Axiom means the character would have had to pass certain security checks. However, you can still play some kind of criminal! Just be warned that the acting police-force-type Xi will be on the lookout for you! Edited by edwards on bebop, Sep 8 2012, 11:00 AM.
