Hikari and Alex would appear a distance apart from each other. Looking either left or right, they would catch the other falling and landing. Where were they? Thus far, the forest had shown its vines to many, and the canopy overhead had done its best to block out most of the sun. The vines had themselves woven so tight one might even be able to walk across the top if they found themselves there. And they had. Each would land with a bounce and be forced to find their footing. The sun blistered down on them; no possible shade when you're directly on the shade. First they would have to find the best way to get back to each other, but the canopy of vines was like walking on a trampoline. Alex's Aeon was useless. Hikari's Aeon would light up, striking an arrow that pointed them directly north. And watch your step. You could falter if your surface chose to give way at the wrong time. |

Alex tumbled through the sky, unsure and unaware of exactly where he was, or what was going on. One moment, he was in Ms. Kudo's Survival Studies classroom, and now? As he took stock of his surroundings, Alex quieted this line of thought. It could only serve as a distraction, now. He tucked as he reached the canopy, bouncing into a staggering forward flip to land, precariously, on two feet, wobbling back and forth wildly for a few moments before coming to a crouch to better balance himself. He exhaled, quietly, and pushed the glasses back up on his nose before checking his Aeon. Useless. Somehow he had expected as much. In lieu of technology, Alex would rely upon his senses and memory. He had seen the other girl, Hikari, he believed he'd heard her, falling as well, not too terribly far from where he was. Otherwise, they seemed to be on top of a canopy of trees, so tightly woven together that they allowed for walking, or, as Alex found, more suitably for bouncing. He pursed his lips and stood back up, scanning the distance for Hikari. Part of him considered sending one of his phantom doubles beneath the canopy and teleporting to it, to get a better look at what was below. However, it seemed more prudent to meet with this other student. After all, Alex did not see any other students in the nearby vicinity, and was forced to assume the girl his only human resource at the moment. If he saw her, he would raise his hand, beckoning her to his own presence. |

Hikari did not even have time to sigh in relief before Kudo speaks as if it was an incantation and an order: Survive. Then it was darkness save for herself and the young man who had been present with her, a brief fall but they would land with a pronounced bounce. The pink haired girl kneeled immediately, not wanting to fall and embarrass herself in some fashion. Blue eyes stared at what had caught them both - a net? No, not a net but it was just as well-woven and green! The sun would be above, her shadow visible against the vine net and warming her back. "Outside?" She asked aloud, blinking to adjust her eyes to the light then lifting her head. Where WAS this place? A movement in the distance - her partner, the one boy with her in the class, he was beckoning to her! Hikari carefully wobbled to a stand that was both comfortable and balanced before moving over to him, careful that her bounce didn't disrupt her partner's balance. "Hey!" The pink-haired girl chirped upon reaching him, reaching for her Aeon. Were the other students around somewhere here? No harm in checking! "Bet you didn't expect this, though I wonder is we should have given what class this is..." |

Alex moves towards the girl as she moves in his direction as well. He had no real attachment to the particular patch of canopy where he stood, after all, no reason not to meet her in the middle. When they meet up, she greets him cheerfully, which he receives with a small half-grin of acceptance. "Perhaps," he says, nodding in agreement as his hand moves to his chin, stroking it thoughtfully. "However, most of my prior classes tended to remain indoors throughout the semester." He pauses a moment, considering everything that has happened up to this point. "Then again, most of my prior classes were never called 'Survival Studies', either." The half-grin widens into a full smirk for a few moments, before subsiding. Alex sighs, looking out across the canopy, trying to get his bearings. "What do you believe we should do, now?" He looks in her direction with a raised eyebrow. "Apart from survive, of course." For a moment, Alex began to wonder just what kind of order 'survive' meant. Were they merely supposed to find their way in this outdoor environment? Or would they be out here long enough to require food and shelter? Worse yet, what if they were expected to fight for their lives against something - or someone - out here? Alex's brow furrows in thought. "So many paths..." he muses, more to himself than for Hikari's benefit. |

"It's not a usual class. Everyone has a hard time with her classes. Guess we can be fortunate we didn't get thrown into the detention room this time." Hikari noted cheerfully, regarding Kudo and her penchant for having her classes be extremely difficult for even smart students to pass. "What do you believe we should do, now? Apart from survive, of course." "That's the question, isn't it?" The pink haired girl smiled as bright as the sunshine at his confusion, if only to hide that she was just as clueless as he was. There was a wide open sky and sunlight bearing down on them, they stood on a canopy of odd vines and there was not much else. No students were visible either...were they entirely alone here? "So many paths..." "Actually!" Hikari responds, looking at her blinking Aeon and flipping it around so her partner could see. "According to this, we heard north." The girl begin a really careful walk in the direction her device had insisted on. She would look back to make sure he followed at least, but given the slight creak the vines made beneath her loafers, she also wanted to keep certain the vines won't simply break beneath her, having no idea what was underneath. "I'm Hikari." She offered her name finally, spreading her arms to balance herself. This was difficult! "You're new, right?" |

"It's not a usual class. Everyone has a hard time with her classes. Guess we can be fortunate we didn't get thrown into the detention room this time." Alex quirks an eyebrow at this remark. This would be a definite challenge of his intellect. Despite his misgivings, Alex was also somewhat excited to see just how well he could navigate this professor's idea of teaching. A small smirk creeps upon his features. "That's the question, isn't it?" The smirk quickly fell, becoming much closer to a frown as the edges of his mouth turned downwards, and Alex looked rather displeased. He had been hoping that, perhaps, as a student with more experience in the school, the girl would have a better idea of what was expected, but it would seem that he was wrong. He shakes his head. Without knowing all the variables, he couldn't solve the equation. And not being able to solve things tended to bother young Alex. "According to this, we heard north." Alex looks at the Aeon screen, wondering why his was useless when hers seemed to give direction. His lips purse as he considers the new plan of action. "It could also simply be a compass telling us which direction is north," Alex says, musing out loud, but by the time he says anything, the girl is already moving in the direction the arrow points. Alex sighs, running a hand through his hair. Well, any direction is better than no direction, and so he follows, moving a few feet to the side of her so as to not trample over already weakened areas of this springy canopy. Each step is slow and measured as he attempts to only put the necessary weight on each foot at a time, so as to not fall through. "I'm Hikari... You're new, right?" Alex nods, but quickly realizes that Hikari isn't looking, so such a gesture would go unnoticed. "Yes," he says, finally, moving a little faster to attempt to catch up. "My name's Alex." |

"It could also simply be a compass telling us which direction is north." "Oh no, there's a separate application for that. Trust me, I used this thing so much I'm sure it's sick of me. It's never acted this way before..." But she certainly didn't sound troubled by it at least, the girl he was partnered with was quite the optimist! Hikari stopped for Alex to catch up, kneeling on the vines again to see if she could see through the canopy below. What was below? Better question, how high up did the pair happen to be? On second thought, she stood back up rigid from the very thought of being over tops of tall trees; maybe it was better not to know that. Once he caught up, they made the careful trek north over the vines. "Well then Alex, since you're new, got any questions? Not like there's much to do or worry about yet." Keyword being yet! "I know nearly everything about the school, just...not anything about this in particular." Other than the heat from the sunlight. There was no shade to speak of, that seemed to be situated below their feet. |

The canopy did not seem to like having such strength above it. Every passing moment, they would appear to cause it to sink lower and lower into the world. The tightly woven material starts to come away enough to peer underneath them. They were above the greenery alright; tall trees below. Furthermore, they would hear screaming. "FABULON!" To the east. And if they looked out that way into the distance, they'd see a boy strung up with vines and a teal haired girl screaming at the vines that held him. How strange. |

"Well then Alex, since you're new, got any questions? Not like there's much to do or worry about yet. I know nearly everything about the school, just...not anything about this in particular." This remark not only brought the smirk to Alex's face again, but even managed to elicit a small chuckle, as well. He turns to face the girl again, shaking his head graciously. "More than a few, I'm afraid," he admits, looking down at the unraveling canopy. As he realizes just how high up they are, and how unstable their walking platform truly was, he grimaces, wobbling a bit as the dizziness attempts to set in. He tries to shake it off. "However, I'd be more content focusing on the problem at ha-" "FABULON!" His eyes dart to the east, narrowing to focus on the distant figures in that direction. His arm reaches out, index finger pointed in that direction. "It appears we aren't alone after all." He looks over his shoulder at Hikari. "Shall we? I'd much prefer to pool as many resources as we can, if we are going to get out of this in one piece." |

The canopy sank under their weight, all the more reason for the pair to watch their step. They were also unraveling , but not quite having completely snapped to drop them. Hikari felt a lurch in her stomach, much more aware of their height now. She would very much not like either of them to fall! "FABULON!" Hikari could peer easily in the unraveling vines. That sound came from the east, and it sounded like a student! She would exchange a glance with Alex, no idea who or what a Fabulon was, but the voice sounded distressed. Hikari would frown, feeling her need to help stir in her mind and body. "Good to know yes, but it doesn't sound good for them." The pink haired girl shot out her hand and an ornate silver bow appeared just to be grabbed by her. It glimmered in the bright sun, an ethereal weapon that could have been a sliver of the light itself. "If they need help, we got to break through this canopy. However, since I'm not sure how badly this will unravel, I'd say to hang onto some vines." Two shards of light formed in her hand, Hikari drew back her bowstring with the arrows in place and released, the light "arrows" shot into canopy at an angled point where the vines looked weakened and stretched. |

As her shards of light would form, they would feel the world beneath their feet start to rumble slightly. Threatened by the impending light burning through them, two of the larger vines snapped out from along the canopy and wrapped around one of their legs each. They were then physically dragged along the woven canopy into a place where it thinned out naturally. A clearing. Looking back south, they would see the boy and girl they were trying to get too. They were close by; within sight of each other and able to call out easily and be heard by the other pairing. It's just a shame they were Hikari and Alex are hanging upside down. Ayeka still stands alone. You are now: Here. |
