After speaking in lengths with Amber over the situation with Stella and Zxaine, Lucas had come to the conclusion on the other side of the spectrum; he needed to be the one to reach out to the person he was seeing and at the very least talk to her. It took a while to reach this choice; after a few fleeting moments in passing whereby they would more or less ignore each other, he decided that something needed to be done. They couldn’t live like they were now. It was dark. Late in the evening but where he had chosen was a place one could never say had cultivated in shadows. The amber lights of the ethereal plants had coated everything from the quick emerald grass to the skin on his form. The wind would pick up, but no cold air could breach this place regardless. Reaching for his Aeon, he looked straight up; the glow seemed to affect even the stars, painting the dark backdrop with a myriad of unusual colours through the crisp night. Whether or not she answered was up to her, but regardless she would somehow receive his words; be it to her ears out rightly or to her messages. “Come find me when you’ve got a moment.” He had said. Then, there was nothing left but to wait. |

She was sitting in her room, still in the dark red skirt and white button up of the day, her maroon and baby pink scarf hung around her neck loosely. She was a mess to say the least, without a single clue as to how to make things right. Damion was curled on the bed beside her, his eyes closed as her fingers ran through his fur. She was completely clueless as to what to do, where to turn, what to say. Her Aeon was on the stand beside her bed, the screen dark. Nothing had come through since the incident. The sudden light of the screen startled her and her eyes flicked over to it. “Come find me when you’ve got a moment.” The meaning was clear to her, she knew where he'd be. She was on her feet instantaniously, feet sliding into her sandals and Damion hopping from the bed. With a glance out the window she vanished, soundlessly, and appeared just outside the meadow. The place where their feelings had been made clear. She drew aside the screening of thick growth and stepped into the clearing. She took a few steps in, rubbing one of her arms with the hand of the other and glancing at him with sorrowful eyes. "Lucas?" She called quietly, Damion sitting beside her and rubbing his head on her knee lightly. |

"Lucas?" "Zxaine." He had said as she appeared. Lucas knew that she would figure out where she was; after all, this was where they first decided they would actually try to be together. He wanted to reach out to her, to extend his hands to her, but he was completely unsure of how she felt about him at this point. Lucas was not even sure how she felt about him anymore. The things that he had said at the time in the Auditorium seemed to definitive, and he hadn't meant it that way. After spending some time looking over the words exchanged at the place in question, Lucas had come to the conclusion that he at least owed her some form of apology. She had thought he wanted to completely cut his ties with her, but that had never been the case. Lucas could at the very least understand that his frustrations may have been taken the wrong way. "I wasn't sure if you wanted to see me," He admitted honestly, "I wanted to apologise to you." He took a step out towards her, but stopped himself quickly before he got any closer to her. |

"Zxaine." Her heart fluttered when he said her name, instinctively taking a step towards him. She wanted to run to his side, bury her face in his neck. She wasn't sure he wanted her anywhere near him though. She froze, her expression conflicted. Her fingers tightened against her arm and her brows pulled together. He must hate her for wanting to protect him from more hurt.... for just trying to be good for him. She messed up, he was strong enough to take care of himself. "I wasn't sure if you wanted to see me, I wanted to apologise to you." She shook her head once, he didn't need to apologize to her. As he took a step towards her, the girl's resolve broke and she moved towards him hastily. She closed the distance quickly, pausing just a step or two away. Her eyes lifted to look into his, her bottom lip caught between her teeth nervously. "Please... don't hate me... " she whispered. |

"Please... don't hate me... " Lucas looked to her with a mix of curiosity and caution; he wondered why she was asking such a thing after all the he felt that he had said all those things wrongly to her. But she made her way towards him, stepping closer and closer before finally stopping a few steps before the threshold. "Why would I hate you?" He asked, a small chuckle falling from his lips in tandem with the words. She was suddenly acting so strangely again, and Lucas supposed that he couldn't fault her in that. Knowing Zxaine, she was always one to mentally step back after going a little too far. He could see that she had done something wrong, but he wondered completely if she could do the same thing. She had seemed so clearly in the right at the time, or at least, she thought so. "Why would I hate you?" He asked quickly, before moving forward. "I don't care what you do when its between the two of you, but I don't want to drag our relationship through that. You know that you're the only person for me, don't you?" He asked in earnest, hoping that she had taken the time to understand where he was coming from. |

"Why would I hate you?" She sighed softly and ran her fingers over Damion's head. "Because I always mess things up. I don't do the right thing, or say the right thing. I shouldn't have... I should have stayed out of all that." She responded slowly, quietly. "I just don't want you to hurt like you did last time... It breaks my heart." The fingers of her right hand passed over her heart lightly, curling in the fabric of her shirt before dropping back to her side. She had thought that by telling Stella to mind herself, that she'd hurt him so badly, that the girl would get the point since she seemed that type of person. One who never wanted to put anyone else out. Well, anyone short of Zxaine. "I don't care what you do when its between the two of you, but I don't want to drag our relationship through that. You know that you're the only person for me, don't you?" She looked up at him and smiled just a bit, one of her hands lifting to seek out his, to twine her fingers with his own. "I do, and I won't fight with her... no matter what, I'll just let it go. It's not worth risking our relationship." She would rise above, she would be the bigger person. She wasn't sure how she'd do it, but she would. Damion rubbed against Zxaine's leg then stood on his hind legs to push Lucas towards her a bit more before bounding a few feet away and disappearing in the tall grass. |

Her smile was enough to brighten his darkest days, and considering the situation Lucas had to take charge in in the Auditorium, it was a welcome surprise. Her hand finally reached towards his, entwining their fingers together. The feel of her skin against his was enough to remind him why he missed her so. He cursed himself for calling so violently to her; it was simply the sight of her in this moment that made him regret what he had caused for what he used to have. But Lucas knew he had to stand his ground on at least some things, and there were things in the moment that she had done wrong. She couldn't get away with all that, but for now, in this space; in their space, it could wait. "I do, and I won't fight with her... no matter what, I'll just let it go. It's not worth risking our relationship." Lucas gave her a warm smile, accepting her words wholeheartedly. But before the blue haired boy could respond at all, Damion had come up behind him to give him a gentle nudge in the girl's direction. Lucas willingly let it happen, moving towards her to leave nothing but an inch or so between them. He moved their linked hands behind his shoulder, leaving her hand their as his arms swooped her up, pulling her closer than she may have ever been. "It's you, Zxaine. It has been for so long." He said honestly, recalling all those conversations they had over the break; separated by body and left with nothing but the phone to keep contact between them. He leaned inward, his breath playfully tickling on the skin of her cheeks. He wanted to feel her closely, intake her scent and touch as though it were the first time he were able to. Just like the first time they were there. "You and I are so much better than that." |

Her arms wrapped around his neck willingly, moving up on her toes as he drew her form into his. Their bodies flush, hot breaths sliding along the skin of the other. Her fingertips drew tiny circles on the back of his neck as she took in the smell of him, memorizing it, drinking it in. "It's you, Zxaine. It has been for so long." Her eyes moved up to capture his, her arms tightening around his neck gently. Thinking back on those long months they were apart, only the phone calls to make it from day to day. They'd rarely had much to talk about, but just hearing his voice had been enough to keep from going and looking for him. Telling him about the hikes with Tiger and Damion in the woods, going to the coast, she'd even stayed out of trouble in town. Mostly because she rarely went into town. "You and I are so much better than that." She touched her nose to his own, the closeness of him enough to make her acutely aware of him. She could feel the power of the muscle he'd gained over the break, feel the difference in his personality, everything he was. A smile once again pulled at the corners of her lips and the girl tipped her head slightly, seeking his lips with her own. Erasing every fear she'd had in the past few hours with his taste. |

Lucas wanted to savour the moment, to remember everything about her in that time for fear that he might lose it forever. He was no where near the mental state he should have been in to give her everything she deserved of him; his talk with Amber had made that clear enough to him. As for where he wanted to go with it, well, he couldn't say he was sure anymore. But putting her in the situation she had fallen into again was not something he wanted to do. But he could feel the touch of her skin on his own, her nose connecting idly with his; the way she pulled him inward for the intensity of such a kiss that he would say they had never shared. His muscles tightened around her form, arms nearly pulling her from her feet as they kissed too deeply to express. He could lose himself in her so easily. She had every power at her disposal to take him away. "I care so much about you, Zxaine." He said honestly, after taking the time to pull up for air. They cared for each other so intensely, at least that much was obvious. Heavy breaths were hot on her skin, struggling for a steady pattern to find him again. "I don't want you to ever be in that kind of position again. I can't give you what I should. It's not fair on you." He reasoned, though his words were as stifled and rushed as his breath support in those moments. "I wish I could be right for you." Lucas added to it, still not sure that he was even making sense in that moment. She made his head rush, his skin shiver and his blood boil. How was anyone supposed to think with that much teenage intensity circling around. |

She let all her feeling and her being flow into the kiss they shared, hoping he'd be as drunk on her as she was on him. That he'd see how deeply her feelings for him ran. She wasn't meek and passive, she was fiery and alive. She was the cinnamon that brought passion and vibrance, promising him everything he wanted if he just let her. "I care so much about you, Zxaine." "And I for you... more then I can say." She responded softly. There was so much she wanted to say, to do, show him. Prove to him that she could be an amazing girlfriend, that she was right for him. "I don't want you to ever be in that kind of position again. I can't give you what I should. It's not fair on you." Her head shook slowly, closing her eyes for a moment. It wasn't his fault. She overreacted. She had thought a simple step off would have been enough to keep Stella away, since she insisted over and over that they were never dating. She figured the girl would leave well enough alone, not make a terrible attempt at being Zxaine. Something she couldn't help but say the other girl failed at, there was no one who could pull stunts like that as unappologetically as the teleporter herself. "No. I overreacted. I could all but feel your pain. I rushed in based off heated emotion alone. I can't do that..." Her words were steady, even as her breath came out hotly, betraying how aware of him she truly was. She'd never been so on point before, as if she was staring herself in the face and realizing how ugly she had been. She was ashamed of herself. "I wish I could be right for you." She turned her head down, she should have known. Her eyes closed, defeated. She was going to lose him, she'd heard it in his voice at the auditorium, and here it was in black and white. Finally she looked back up at him, the moonlight playing off her eyes intensifying the dark green and amber. "No... I wish I could be right for you." She worried her voice might fail even as she spoke the words. "But I understand." She didn't really, the chemistry between them was real. Even as she spoke her head throbbed with the scent of him, with the feel of him, she didn't want to let him go. |

"No... I wish I could be right for you. But I understand." Even with definitive words, Lucas would cease to let go of her. She would not be able to freely leave this embrace of her own accord unless she truly willed the distance to be; he controlled the situation with his form pressed wildly against hers. She didn't understand, he knew that. He found it difficult to suppress the chuckle that escaped him at the words. "How can you? I don't even understand." Lucas replied to her words. But he knew, and he hoped that she would find a way to understand where he was coming from. That for now and with everything circling around them, they needed time to fall out of an exclusive exchange before finding themselves tied back up in it. At least so the two of them could clear their heads. "I'm not going to leave you," He began, trying his best to make things clear, "We just need time to make things clearer." He hoped she would know what he meant. They would probably find each other again. They would probably not stop seeing each other. But a definite relationship was something he could not throw himself completely into with the knowledge that a ghost was still lighting his world from another corner. Nevertheless, she would still find no distance from the boy. His breath still craved hers, body still aching for her contact. For a moment, Lucas gave way to all those things, knowing that she was still something he wanted and needed. She needed to know it. He closed the distance, crashing forth and capturing her kiss in a fluid motion. He pressed himself willingly against her, lips leaving hers after a few moments to leave a trail along the line of her neck. "I still-" He whispered into her skin, unable to finish the words he wanted to speak. Perhaps it was better that way. |

He didn't let her go, as she expected, instead they remained tight against the other. As if by letting go they might be swept away from each other and be lost. Her fingers curled in his hair gently, a striking difference to the last time the slender digits had found locks between them. She tried to be strong, to do what he was saying needed to be done, but how could she? Everything about him called to her, her very own siren song. "How can you? I don't even understand." "I mean..." What had she meant. It was clear she had no idea how they got to this point, everything had been so amazing. She showed him things he'd never seen before, never done before, and in return he showed her how to be a better person. True, they were as different as night and day, but you cannot have one without the other. He was as radiant a person as the morning sun, while she was as unknown and mysterious as the moonless night. They complimented each other so perfectly. "I'm not going to leave you, We just need time to make things clearer." She nodded slowly, still the fear that he'd be gone beyond anywhere she could reach was real and raw. Deep down she was a boiling mass of emotion. Misery mingled with with everything good he made her feel. She didn't know how much clearer she could be, one thing Zxaine couldn't do well is hide her feelings from him. Ever since that eventful day in the auditorium he saw every facut as it appeared. Jealousy, challenge, joy, sadness. He'd accepted them all, just as she accepted him while still pushing. Showing him everything the world had to offer had been what she could do for him. Her memory flicking back to the time at the roller rink. And then his lips were pressed against her own again, her own pushing into the kiss as if she may never get another. She wanted to stop time, leave them in their meadow and let the world outside rot for all she cared. She sucked in a breath as his lips moved to slide along her slender neck, the heat of her form pressed against his feeling like an inferno. How would she go on without his warmth? Now that she knew it, how was she supposed to go back? "I still-" Please don't finish.... please. I can't take it. Her mind plead silently, willing away the growing sadness in her soul. The emptiness she felt, don't say it. His words died off, though his breath would still blast against her soft skin. She turned her head, pressing her lips against the joint of his neck and shoulder. Her fingers worked through his hair, her nails trailing delicately against his scalp as she tried to find the words she needed to say. "Me too." |

Lucas could sense the fire he seemed to ignite with in her, burning through his own core and directly into hers; as sad and depressing it was all becoming. They had reached some kind of agreement but neither were ready or willing to give the other away, searching and finding new ways to keep the other person tangled into the complexity of their desires so neither would be ready to turn away. Desperation lingered behind each passing touch, each definite movement. She pressed her lips willingly to his skin. It caused an outcry of his breath to spill out onto her. Every second seemed to drag onwards, and he wouldn't mind had he found himself here for the rest of his life. It was becoming clearer and clearer that the two were trying to avoid something through deep subtle movements. But that was building another platform to their strengths and desires quickly. His hand trailed along the line of her waist, fingers slipping through the hemline of her shirt to rest on the small of her back, trailing heated lines along her form as he moved. Skin to skin once more. "I should let you go." But he couldn't let her go just yet. His mind tried to persist, though the tone in his voice rang clearly against his words as once more he whispered into the nape of her neck. He then pressed down a kiss to where the condensation might build. |

She wasn't sure if she knew how to let him go anymore, as if all the portions of her brain that told her that this shouldn't be happening, they had agreed to a step backwards, not forwards, had all but been turned to ash. She could feel that he felt as she did, that moving in any direction that led them away from each other was the last thing that was wanted by either side. Her eyes slid shut, thick lashes brushing on the skin of his neck. She counted the minutes in breaths, each one an eternity for her. Slender hands moving over his shoulders even as her rational mind tried to rein her in. The girl shook off the nagging in the back of her head, she didn't WANT to let him go. Why should she? Her cheek pressed against his own before her lips found the soft spot just under the lobe of his ear. her eyes still shut, how long had they been here? An hour? Four? She didn't care, as far as her mind could process at the moment they belonged with each other, to each other. "I should let you go." She heard the emphasis on the word should, her mind going blank at the statement. She couldn't remember why, all she could do was feel his fingertips against the arch of her back, his breath against her neck. What were they struggling against? Why should they? "Maybe, but still-" She whispered the words, so softly that were he not so close he likely would not hear her. Why should they be forced to suffer? Hadn't they enough? "Why?" Why punish themselves? |

"Why?" Lucas laughed idly at what she had said. Why. She could be asking him about anything; he didn't want to get into the fact that he knew he wouldn't be able to soundly be with her while this other thing was clouding his judgement. He knew it wouldn't be fair to her for him to not take a step back when he still needed to work everything out on his own terms. He didn't want to have to worry further that something might happen between the two of them without being completely invested. Because most of all, while Lucas was so sure he wanted to pursue this further, he wanted nothing to be in the way to cause questions for either of them. So take a step back and wait a little bit. Let the dust settle and allow the ghosts to find their resting places. Because when it all fell, who was to say they wouldn't be right back, here and now, mentally trying to call of the physical. Lucas did not want to spoil it with all that. "We might do something you'll regret." He said softly. And Lucas would never want her to regret a decision with him. Despite the fact that he could feel the way her body was turning in motions for him, he could not risk forcing a situation on her she didn't want. He pulled his head back, far enough so that he might be able to capture her orbs with his. "I wouldn't want that." He said gently, freeing her with his words to pull back if she desired. If she did, he would allow her to fall through his fingers and into the night. |

The chuckle seemed to drag her back to reality, her mind suddenly screaming in revolt. She had told him she understood, yet here she was. The earth seemed to crash down around her, silence roaring. Just like that she was snapped back to the reality of what was. "We might do something you'll regret." She felt some level of amusement at that, that she would regret anything was almost laughable. Yet that tiny voice told her that he was right. She didn't want to, it wasn't fair. She'd been there, she'd proven that she was what he desired. What he needed. But the sudden reappearance of Stella threw a wrench in everything, how she hated her. She wanted to prove to Lucas that she could give him what he needed, and if a step back is what he needed, even if it's not what he wanted. She could do that. Or she hoped she could. "I wouldn't want that." Her eyes clouded with sadness for a moment, a storm of emotion and thought passing through them before they closed with a sigh. The girl slid her hand to his cheek, resting it there as she touched her forehead to the other cheek. Her temperature still raged though it had kindled down to a torrent in her belly that she would control if she must. "Always the gentleman." she whispered, Damion reappearing moments later. He'd been away, watching the treeline for any sign of followers. There had been none, but the cat knew they needed privacy. "How could I refuse your wisdom?" The mourning in her voice was clear, things had gone from hot to cold so fast that she nearly got whiplash. But still. "If time is what you need, time is what you get. I'm always going to be here." The meaning of her words was clear even though she didn't outright say it, she wasn't going anywhere with anyone but him. If that meant that things were thrust backwards for a little bit, well... that was how life was. "Mistress?" "I suppose I should go?" She wanted him to disagree, tell her to stay, but they were beyond that point now she feared. That moment was gone, and even though her heart poured out to him she didn't think it would be returning this night, or even that it should return this night. She loved him, clearly she did, even though she wouldn't say it out loud. Not yet. She lifted her face away from his own, locking gazes and she gave him one of her smiles. "Things are never easy it seems." She broke from his grip reluctantly, ribbons of deep mahogany hair dancing in the wind as she moved to leave. Damion instead moved to Lucas and rubbed his head against the boy's leg, as if saying 'things will be okay.' The same statement Zxaine had said to the feline earlier that day. |

"I suppose I should go?" Lucas didn't want to agree, but he knew that at least one of them needed to remain level headed in the situation. It was difficult to watch her go; to see her heart within his hands and for him to almost really give it back to her. Her forehead against his cheek, and he would move to take in her scent and touch for what almost felt like it was going to be the final time. At least for a while. But as she pulled away, slipping easily through his grasp, he allowed himself to stumble back in stance with the glowing orbs around them. They flew up as he knocked the stems of their resting place, circling around him as if to try and fill the void she was leaving. In honesty, he would never have guessed that she loved him. "I'm not going to be able to stay away." He called out to her in the darkness as she walked away. They were going to have to be strong enough for each other. He looked around; the same place where they had started this journey was where they were flicking on the breaks. He couldn't help but realise that. It was a harsh thought, and he couldn't honestly say if he would wan to continue coming back here. It wouldn't be the same without her. He hoped not to lose her through time. |
