Arrival has been pleasant enough for Sathyre Merekki - maybe because she didn't spend much time gawking at the new place. No. She could do it later. Much later. When she finally got used to the idea of... being there, maybe.

Casually looming over bypassers and asking for directions with an intendedly pleasant smile, obviously, was the best way to make a first impression. Dormitories were her goal, and to dormitories she was directed.

First floor? Wondrous! Sathyre wouldn't have to continue the unnecessary, long-running epic war she had with stairs, steps and similar abominable constructions that were, no doubt, thought up just to mock and hurt her. To humiliate her. To bruise her nose and other places every single time. Other places that she didn't quite like talking about, as it would undermine her reverse trap agenda.

Eleventh room.

Alright, then.

Alright.

It was time to HAPPEN. And so, the loomer did.

... looking 'round. Uh. Wait a minute. She's getting company that ISN'T, for once, the inhabitants of her mind? Fantastic.

It was time to wait for anything or something to happen. In a corner, preferably. Yes. This corner is perfectly fine with her and she's fine with it.

The corner and her will be BFFs. Most surely.

What could have been missed about the 11th room of the first floor was something that would require someone to pay attention to the ceiling. It could be forgiven, as not many would think to look up at all. One side of the room was clearly occupied, though the desk was at an odd angle, the computer screensaver a bouncing cube that shifted in color and shape. The bed was a blueish tartan pattern, a modern looking rug rests between the beds and a few manga volumes were scattered on top in a sort of rush. Under the bed were a few storage bins, quite locked. Her side of the room would be clear, clean, ready for decoration.

No roommate visible to speak of, at least not yet.

Above her, Sathyre would hear the upper floor occupants returning most likely, a few thumps and then a loud CREAK. Above her, a door - yes there seemed to be a trapdoor now that she looked - opened right over the occupied bed.

"We'll totally do that later today then. Banzaiii~"

And in drops an energetic-looking girl with loose braided pigtails, landing on her bed with a bounce...on top of the books she had left that morning.

"OW. Auuugh FUCKME!" The girl shouted, an audible accent of sorts in her voice. "Forgot the damned books were here!"

Pause and a sloooow look up at the loomer in a corner of her room. This thing was...strange. Why a corner? Nope, more important questions come first.

"Ah...huh." Blink, then a raise of an eyebrow. "Who the fuck are you?"

The thing of questionable gender, loyalty and origin grinned at the girl that randomly dropped down onto the bed that wasn't Sathyre's. Oh yes, this will be fun. Hopefully, she won't get shoes thrown at her---or forced to eat lemons. The elf involuntarily shudders at the memory of...

... lemons...

THAT WASN'T SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT RIGHT NOW. She had to inquire first. About things. For things. And great justice.

Damn it, she'll never stop expectantly observing the trapdoor whenever left alone now.

"Apologies, but I'm afraid I don't do fucking on the first meeting." Obviously, referring to the 'fuck me' exclamation. Sathyre honestly thinks she's funny. And that's why she laughs. At her own joke. You know.

Done with laughing. Back to grinning like an idiot. "Either way! I'm your new roommate, apparently. Name's Sathyre Merekki and you won't notice me most of the time unless I hit my head on a doorframe. Or something else. It happens!"

Pause.

Adding, "Frequently. At least it's not stairs. Those are evil creatures spawned by some kind of Stair Broodmother, waiting for me at eeeeeeeeeevery corner."

"To make me trip."

"And kick me in the face."

"Hi."

Eyebrow-twitch. What. This thing...why did it laugh at her own weird joke and ramble so much? The rambling was so erratic that Kanami had to sit there with the blankest of stares, mentally taking apart every sentence that came out of her new roommate's mouth. Processing...processing...

Roommate, wait REALLY? She had literally just got rid of that annoying glasses-chick that openly wanted to rival her for some inexplicable reason. Now she had an unnaturally tall motormouth? Kanami would shoot her with a flat stare as it dawned on her. Just fantastic, if anything at least this one didn't try to outright be her rival or something to that extent. The girl just face palmed first.

"Haah." She breathed out a sort of sigh and a groan, letting her hand slide off her face. "Yeeeah, hi. So...you're an elf-thing or what?"

It was the obvious thing about her she could focus on while she gathered the books from underneath her so that next time she wouldn't have to land on them. Oh right, a thought crossed her mind to, a rather important one.

"And you're a...girl? Boy? It? What."

Her ears perked up as the elfin girl was incredibly amused. Yeah, this'll be good if she didn't get punched and thrown out of a window after the first ramblefest! She can allow herself to calm down a bit, now.

Seriously, she's all for first impressions, but she thinks she overdid it a bit.

"I'm an elf, yeah. I hope you don't have a problem with that, because you'll have to deal either way. I'm not planning to cut my ears off anytime soon." Stretching---

That question.

HM.

On one hand, she didn't want her gender to be immediately known. On the other hand, HONESTY. Damn it. This is a difficult choice.

"I'm female. Surprise. I guess." So much rambling made her lose rambling enthusiasm. She's out of creativity. It has evaporated. Depleted.

Except not really. Sathyre isn't exactly hyperactive, is all.

Maybe.

There's no guarantee that she won't act like a complete clown nutso in public, but it's not like anyone has to know.

"I take it you didn't want a roommate, eh? I won't be too terrible. You don't need to buy a collar, a litterbox or flea spray, even. Nor you need to obtain pet food. I promise." ... awkward chuckle and a wave. She realizes she forgot to do that.

"Right. Yeah-no didn't want a roommate, nor did I expect to get one this year. Honestly, they really have to notify people abut this."

The braided girl narrowed her eyes at the elf, stacking her books on the desk for now. She could have just reached behind her to put them in the bookcase at the head of her bed but she was lazy - or unusually focused. She was not used to having people as a roommate. Silence, yes but other people were not to be trusted. They touched things - oh god she wanted none of that, the very idea made her queasy! That in mind, the girl gets up to round the desk, going into her computer systems to once again change all the passwords.

"Since you're here, Rambles-thing, ground rules then. Don't touch my stuff, don't touch my computer. Trapdoor above me will frequently have people either jumping down from it, or me climbing up. If you got a problem with that, tough."

All passwords changed and the cameras in the hallways were still all connected. She would shut off the monitor for now, leaning over to give her roommate the flat stare. Also, oh hey here was the notification card about gaining a roommate. Figures, the one time Kanami ignored a notice.

"Go with that and we'll be fine, got it?"

She laughs. Touching people's stuff? As if she ever wanted to do that, honestly. The elf's ears... droop at the nickname being assigned, although the girl doesn't seem to react to it in any other way. First impressions, first impressions, when'll she get rid of them?

When a fried parrot pecks her in the ass, that's when.

"I don't have a habit of touching or otherwise privately examining other people's belongings. If you have inappropriate material somewhere there, though, I'm not judging." Sathyre doesn't laugh, this time around. She has had quite enough of that, for now.

And for once she's being a bit more serious than she normally is!

Not that it says much, really.

"As long as nobody tugs on my ears or otherwise tries to intrude my personal space - yes, stupid clowns have that too - I'm perfectly fine with people happening and unhappening at random intervals."

She contemplates... something. Hm. Yeah, this should be a reasonable warning. "If anyone ever tries to search for myself the beanpole, complaining about justly deployed groin kicks, pay no heed. It happens."

"We'll get along just fine. Juuuust fine."

Eyebrow twitch again.

This was wholefully bizarre! Cold logical and partially rational (if one overlooks the whole constantly changing passwords tick) Kanami was not quite keen on this one yet. She could only count her blessings that she was not some sort of telepath, she had the very real feeling that read the mind of this person would break her brain. She rubs her temples a little and then began to type down the visuals into her database: Sathyre Merekki, general height, approximate weight, the nickname Kanami already had given her, etc. She would peer from behind the monitor while Rambles talked on about nutkicks and beanpoles, if just to pretend she's listening.

"Will we 'get along fine' now?" Elbow on the table, she rests her cheek against the back of her hand with a scrutinizing expression.

"What a sure and arrogant thing to say. You're a living personification of mental disorganization compounded with a serious lack of a filter. The stuff that falls from your mouth incessantly makes little to no sense, showing an inability to think before speaking."

She smirks sweetly, but so malicious. A dismissive hand wave and Kanami continues typing before saving and locking down her computer.

"I can't imagine this going all too well in the least."

Sathyre quietly laughs, observing the terribly 'nice' girl. This was getting better and better. Sort of. She just hoped that they'd actually manage to get along. She seemed... interesting enough, either way. And when Sathyre was interested, she was interested.

The stubbornness ran in the family, as far as she was concerned.

"I am perfectly capable of thinking before speaking, but I do not think you have earned the privilege of experiencing me do so, as of yet. And how do you know it isn't an intricate camouflage system? Masking the relevant knowledge with unnecessary, irritating torrents of stupidity."

"You really need to learn not to assume, girl. You really need to learn."

"By the way, I'm still spewing irrelevant bullshit - I don't usually lie or mask anything. I'm too lazy for that and I hold a punchworthy dislike for liars." She stretches again. "Instead, I just ramble everything away in the first few hours. Maybe you should get earplugs."

"As a plus, you're never getting any surprises, pleasant or unpleasant. Boo-hoo, m'lady."

Kanami's interest was nowhere near the conversation that was taking place - there all passwords changed, video feeds are working, new entry into the "database". This has actually become pretty productive all things considering. Her auditory attention is on Rambles, visually she was thumbing through a book on symbols. She had forgotten she liked this book! Once the torrent of white noise that was Rambles speaking had stopped, the girl drew her eyes from the book, leveling a gaze that feigned amazement.

"Wow, you were still talking? That's what all that noise was."

Eyes back down into the book.

"Way to assume that I assume when you're doing the same, Rambles. My assumptions are at least based on what's observable to me. I observe that you cannot stop talking. I also highly doubt your method to ramble involves any sort of camouflage screen for relevancy because you just told me you ramble away the first few hours. Since you don't lie, if you aren't lying about that, then I can conclude you simply have no filter and used that notion to cover for your odd tick as a defense mechanism."

Pause. Audible page-flip.

"Also, don't give a shit for surprises, so I won't shed a tear."

"Nah. I can stop talking. I just don't want to. It's lonely when the only people you usually talk to are the ones in your head. I'm insane, by the way. I hope you can live with the revelation."

... what was the best way to act in this situation? Staring. Endless, piercing staring. Those yellow eyes DRILL into Kana---figuratively. Thankfully.

Sathyre didn't want to imagine eye drills.

Yes, she absolutely just narrated what she did to herself.

Mentally.

Not that it made a difference, again.

Kanami raised her head, a flat gaze shot to Sathyre. Again, the talking, something about headcases or voices in the head, she had no idea honestly. As far as she knew, it didn't affect her directly. White noise was the ever present sound, so the braided girl may have been silently considering investing in earplugs. She wasn't happy about it considering this was her damned room too!

And oh look, she was being stared at. Wonderful. If it bothered her at all, she did not let it surface on her face.

"I assume I win with the logic." Kanami says, staring right back. She did not have as piercing of a gaze as some around the school, but it was certainly a condescending one.

"I'll never understand that sort of insistent gaze." The girl noted aloud, following her own mental train of thought. "Makes people look absolutely vacant and feign any sort of profoundness they could have."

"I surrender to your cunning mind, o pretty lady."

It was time for her to change her pose. Instead of lurking in the corner, she would dramatically stand up--and then drop on one knee and lower her head.

She can't stop herself from giggling, however.

Never.

"My gaze isn't meant as offense." And that was all she'd say on that matter.

Sathyre changes speaking manners like one'd change outfits, except more frequently. Chaotically, too.

Pretty lady? She can appreciate the cunning mind part, just not so much the compliment. She narrowed her eyes and contemplated if she should launch the book at her just for good measure. Aw, but she LIKED this particular book, no need to subject it to violence just because Kana herself was annoyed.

"Riiiight. I'll take your word for it this time." Sharply spoken. The girl would stand up and stretch her arms up before kneeling out of sight behind the desk. Behind the bed, she would rummaging around noisily before procuring what looked like a ladder of sorts, half rope, half solid yet somehow collapse-able. How that is managed is a mystery in itself. And she somehow had a backpack on with a bat attached much in the manner a sword would.

"In any case, we shall see." She climbed on the bed and hooked the ladder to the hooks just into the trapdoor and climbs up.

"Ja ne, Rambles-san." Kana stuck her tongue out at Sathyre and pushed up the trapdoor, disappearing into the room above. "C'mon Eddie, we gotta get there now-like if we wanna check it out while there's still light out."

Ladder pulled up and gone for now!

"G'bye, you." She waves somewhat awkwardly at the girl who just... randomly went up there. Ladder---isn't there too now. Well.

Sathyre's expression fades into a tired one as she stands back up and dusts herself off. Speaking to nobody in particular, she manifests a somewhat odd accent - a somewhat rough but pleasant one... a mix of Russian accent and---something else? Hm. It sounds like it, at least.

"Well... Rae, Sci, Lux... we've got a lot to do." She looks over her side of the room, shaking her head. "A lot of lot to do."

And so she did.

Alone.
