The teleporter sat at a table near the exit, looking at her food. It was still untouched, beside her was another tray that Damion had already licked clean of his meal. She looked at the plate before her, it had looked appealing when she got it, her swirled eyes focused on it as her heeled shoes tapped against the leg of her chair. The room was mostly full, though there were still seats open around her on all sides. It seemed that people still were avoiding her, but that didn't appear to be what was bothering her.

She'd stumbled across some things that bothered her, and with the anniversary of her father's death approaching she was moodier then usual. The leopard beside her mrowled, swiping his tongue across her arm.

The day was beautiful outside, sunlight filtered into the cafeteria from the outside and brought out the red highlights to her hair. Her eyes were more green then gold today too, pale skin showing off her Irish heritage. She was dressed as was typical for a day when she had no classes to go to, the color of the day was green. Her miniskirt was the color of shamrocks, plain and unbroken in color. Unlike usual she wore a short sleeved, pale green button up was buttoned nearly to her throat, covering more of her body then her usual camisole would. white and green striped thigh highs hid her long, pale legs from view and a pair of black heels finished the attire. She wasn't sure why she was dressed such today, she had a perfectly fine camisole that matched her other clothing just fine, but the button up seemed... more appropriate to her mood. She wanted to be covered up, protected. She felt vulnerable.

At least no one was whispering about her today.

"You're the one they talk about in such great detail, aren't you." Leah asked. There was time for introductions but there was no need, she felt. Leah herself was an uninteresting party member in the school, but this girl was the proverbial talk of the town. She couldn't step an inch without hearing word of her. "They whisper about you, it seems. You are like a lion in a cage they all stare at. Isn't that peculiar?" Her lips curl into an amused grin as she stood up onto the chair opposite her before moving to sit on the table.

"Or perhaps you aren't a lion... So what are you?" Leah asked, giving a simple shrug. The girl could choose to answer or not. Nevertheless, she would continue speaking. "What I find most curious is that here I've learnt more about a stranger in one day than others hear in months of personal conversation. They truly are captivated by your every move," She paused, twisting her head to the side, "Just look at how they all stare at you." And she chuckled, forever amused by people and their interests.

She rocked back in her sitting position slightly, arms on either side of the table to keep her balance. "I know a story but not a name. They prefer to call you 'that girl with the oversized cat'... And that's the best of them."

"You're the one they talk about in such great detail, aren't you."

She didn't know the voice, it was new to her, and she heard a lot of voices these days. Her lips twitched slightly but she didn't look up at first.

"That would be me." she answered simply, not coldly but not exactly as happily as if whatever she'd heard was good. She wasn't dumb, she knew that it was never good.

"They whisper about you, it seems. You are like a lion in a cage they all stare at. Isn't that peculiar?"

"They do. You would think they would keep their words so I couldn't hear them.... but perhaps they are not that smart." She said, finally lifting her eyes to look at the other girl. The girl looked a bit like her mother, proving she was at least mostly Irish. As if the eyes and the color of her hair were not giveaway enough. She lifted her head to look at the other girl more squarely.

"Or perhaps you aren't a lion... So what are you?"

That puzzled her, what was she? She certainly was not a lion, they had prides... she was just... her. Her and Lucas. There was no other she could look on as a real friend, unless this girl proved trustworthy.

"Just another student." Was her answer after a minute.

"Just look at how they all stare at you."

She lowered her gaze for a moment before looking at the masses who immediately turned their heads to appear as if engrossed in something else. She scowled and stabbed at her food a bit.

"Rude, are they not? Can't even leave me be long enough to eat." she said lightly, though she looked a bit disturbed by the fact that they were looking at her again.

"I know a story but not a name. They prefer to call you 'that girl with the oversized cat'... And that's the best of them."

"I'm not surprised. I've always been at the brunt of their cruel remarks, never mind that I've done nothing to them. Ah well." She sighed and set her fork down. "I'm Zxaine, this is my familiar, Damion." At hearing his name the large cat looked at the girl and nodded at her with clear intelligence in the motion. "Who are you?"

"I'm not surprised. I've always been at the brunt of their cruel remarks, never mind that I've done nothing to them. Ah well."

"Simply willing them away doesn't make it so." Leah replied. She tilted her head to one side, curiously, eyes casting their gaze above slightly as though she were searching for a remedy to the situation high on the wall. "Though I suppose it is the same for them. Simply willing pain on you doesn't make it so." She added. A name was passed, this girl shared hers and asked for one in return. Leah kept her stare high.

"You might say they, in their curious little packs, are more brave than you. Albeit it's a strictly safe way to go about whatever they are trying to do. But I have to wonder what that is." She shrugged, lightly, "How contradicting." And finally her gaze snapped. She tilted her head back in the direction of her new companion. "What did you do to captivate their attention so?"

"Simply willing them away doesn't make it so."

"Willing them away doesn't encourage them either though." She muttered back.

"Though I suppose it is the same for them. Simply willing pain on you doesn't make it so."

She sighed, wondering if the girl had a point to what she was saying, or if the others had put her up to this. She wouldn't put it past them.

"They don't cause me pain, they just annoy me. They think that their stares and words do me harm, it's little more then a mosquito buzzing in my ear." she lied convincingly, her tone calm.

"You might say they, in their curious little packs, are more brave than you. Albeit it's a strictly safe way to go about whatever they are trying to do. But I have to wonder what that is. How contradicting."

She wasn't sure how to respond to that, so she didn't. She had picked up that habit from Lucas, her eyes turning to Leah and one brow lifting curiously.

"What did you do to captivate their attention so?"

Ah, and there it was.

"I 'stole' the attentions of Lucas Reed from his old girlfriend. It's really more complex then that, but that is the jest of it." She answered after a moment. "I prefer to think of it as showing him how fruitless the relationship was." She finished, defending herself without becoming defensive in her tone.

Leah could feel the smirk rising to her lips before it got there; how open this stranger was to the situation, stating things with sucha mater-of-fact tone to her voice. She lifted her hands from the table, pushing her body forward slightly and clicking her fingers before pointing to Zxaine. "You are a thief!" Not with speculation, but an overjoyed fact. How interesting this girl was beginning to look. What a goldmine.

"This boy, Lucas. I've never met him. But he must be simple to capture and convince. Isn't that what they call manipulation?" She asked curiously, her elbows moving to rest on her knees as her fingers laced together before her face. "You are a spider... Or are you." Once more she mused to herself, before looking back to the girl, "So! Care you explain the situation with a little more detail?" There. She expressed genuine curiosity.

"You are a thief!"

Damion stood up and bared his fangs, growling lowly at the girl's outburst. However, Zxaine placed her hand on the cat's flank and he grumbled, sitting down again. She looked at Leah, a hard edge to her previously soft, if not a bit sad eyes.

"That is one way to look at it. However, I wasn't the one who ran off without so much as a goodbye to him." She said coldly, being unneccesarily harsh on the star girl who was no longer around to defend herself. She didn't care though, if others could badmouth her, she could badmouth them back.

"This boy, Lucas. I've never met him. But he must be simple to capture and convince. Isn't that what they call manipulation?"

Clearly this girl knew nothing of Lucas, and her eyes darkened as she said that. The golden flecks stood out against the dark green background, her lips tightening.

"You are a spider... Or are you. So! Care you explain the situation with a little more detail?"

"Shows how much you know of him...." She answered simply. "He's exceptionally devoted... The only reason I have him is because him and Stella were told they were not allowed to see each other at all." She finished. She wished Lucas were here, but he was studying. She'd left him be so he could get his work done. She and Damion had gotten hers done rather quickly, helped having two sets of ears in a room to get the lessons.

"Settle, housecat. I've no burden with you." Leah responded, raising a casual hand in his direction.

"That is one way to look at it. However, I wasn't the one who ran off without so much as a goodbye to him."

Leah could feel the way it drove this stranger cold; the significant tone of her voice when she gave a little insite to the situation without committing to an appropriate explanation Thinking back to what she had heard, things were starting to piece together. Not that she cared all that much, really. Personal drama was only interesting for so long. But that which kept it most entertaining was the fact that this girl was dancing about the subject. Entertainment could turn to frustration quickly, though.

"Shows how much you know of him...."

A low, amused chuckle from her part. "I don't need to know him."

"He's exceptionally devoted... The only reason I have him is because him and Stella were told they were not allowed to see each other at all."

"What you are saying is this..." Leah began, holding a hand up slightly as though she were holding something small between her thumb and forefinger. She tilted her head slightly as if to stare at it with all her attention, "You have taken this small opportunity to work your way to the obliteration of a relationship for your own benefit?" Her eyes flicked back to Zxaine suddenly. "You are human, indeed."

"Settle, housecat. I've no burden with you."

Damion rumbled lowly, shaking his head a bit. Humans were so strange to him.

"I don't need to know him."

She scowled at her food, so this girl was just like the others. So willing to pass judgement on things they didn't know the first thing about. Of course you would have to know Lucas to understand what had gone on, that was like trying to explain how to cook something without knowing what it was or what went in it. It just didn't work that way!

"I wish you wouldn't make assumptions about him. I'm really indifferent on if you have them about me, but he's a good guy." She mumbled, not caring if the girl heard her.

"What you are saying is this... You have taken this small opportunity to work your way to the obliteration of a relationship for your own benefit?"

"Of course." She said as if that were completely obvious, after all one didn't get ahead if they didn't take opportunity as it arose. "That's what you have to do. If you miss opportunities then you'll regret it forever. I did what I could... that's all." she answered a bit louder.

"You are human, indeed."

She was starting to wonder about this girl's sanity.

"Of course I'm human, contrary to popular belief I'm not a cat in disguise. Or an alien." She said, rattling off two of the rumors she'd heard. "I'm sure there are more interesting ones going around right now as well."

"I wish you wouldn't make assumptions about him. I'm really indifferent on if you have them about me, but he's a good guy."

"I don't make assumptions." Leah replied. So anything said about the girl was free game, as long as no one breathed a word of this person she felt so much for. "A lesser being would take you up on that offer, but I won't. If I had made any assumptions, they would be from what you've told me." Not that it was incredibly smart to place judgements based on the words of others. Perhaps if she felt so inclined she might search the boy out. She did not.

"Of course. That's what you have to do. If you miss opportunities then you'll regret it forever. I did what I could... that's all."

Leah initially shook her head. "You did what you wanted. Those that condemn you for it may very well be jealous of that spine they're lacking." She replied, giving a shrug. They were not meant to sound like words of approval or encouragement, simply a blunt statement.

"Of course I'm human, contrary to popular belief I'm not a cat in disguise. Or an alien. I'm sure there are more interesting ones going around right now as well."

"What you are doesn't really interest me." She said, not to sound cold but once again, to simply sound blunt. "Your stories could use a little more imagination. Though... the tale of the hiding girl cutting in on love at the most painful moment and stealing the vulnerable and, I'm guessing, impressionable boy is quite the switch up. One would think this girl would fight back, but you said she disappeared? Then one would also think this boy would not be so quick to jump to you. That is strange..." It was not so much the idea of love that made the story worth listening to. It was the deception.

"Swept up in the moment, were you both?"

"I don't make assumptions."

She glanced over but said nothing. After all, it was rude to point out the lie in that.

"A lesser being would take you up on that offer, but I won't. If I had made any assumptions, they would be from what you've told me."

She broke off a bit of roll and ate it slowly, thinking. Her mind was going a million different ways, and she still hadn't figured out where Stella had gone. She glanced over at the girl.

"Any assumptions you get should really be from meeting him yourself." She said indifferently, looking up at the girl and tossing her long hair behind her. Damion hopped onto the table and stretched across it, his tail flicking now and again.

"You did what you wanted. Those that condemn you for it may very well be jealous of that spine they're lacking."

She wasn't sure how to take that, since it clearly was not a compliment but it wasn't condemning her either.

"Thank... you. I suppose...?" She responded. "I have to take what I want usually, so it's not so strange to me."

"What you are doesn't really interest me. Your stories could use a little more imagination. This girl confused her. If she wasn't concerned then why did she keep going 'you're a spider' or shit like that. She blinked and sighed.

"Just because this is a school for gifted teens, doesn't mean everything is so much more interesting then a normal life. The whole story would take far too long to tell, it wasn't something that happened quickly." She answered.

"Swept up in the moment, were you both?"

She thought about the meadow, then the day in the rain where it all became public knowledge. There had been nothing else in the world to the girl then that boy. A smile caught her lips and for a moment she looked perfectly serene and content.

"Yeah... now if only I could find his ex so he could settle things..." She sighed, her mood not even soured by the thought of Stella.

"Thank... you. I suppose...? I have to take what I want usually, so it's not so strange to me."

A natural thief created by surrounding environment, Leah suspected. The words more or less proved her theory, but for the moment she would keep that realisation to herself. Conversations were more like games, that way.

"Just because this is a school for gifted teens, doesn't mean everything is so much more interesting then a normal life. The whole story would take far too long to tell, it wasn't something that happened quickly."

"I beg to differ, actually," Leah began, raising her index finger slightly and resting it on her chin, "Powers play a pivotal role in things that involve high emotion. You could be arguing one moment, and in the next the building could be on fire." An amused grin found its way to her face at the thought, "It's the added unpredictable destruction, thing."

"Yeah... now if only I could find his ex so he could settle things..."

"That's cute." Leah replied, sounding half genuine when she spoke the words. The other half was open cynicism; she never had been one for the whole aspect of, well, love. "But what's to settle? She may as well be dead." The girl added with a shrug and a blunt tone. She leaned forward, then, raising an eyebrow with a little more genuine curiosity. "Is there anything about you that doesn't circle this boy?"

"I beg to differ, actually,"

Her attention was caught and she looked at the other girl more squarely, one of her brows twisting upwards in curiousity.

"Oh?"

"Powers play a pivotal role in things that involve high emotion. You could be arguing one moment, and in the next the building could be on fire."

Damion blinked and shook his head a bit.

"If the building caught on fire then it wouldn't be our fault, you certainly can't do anything like that." The feline laughed and Zxaine snorted at him.

"If the building was on fire, Damion, I'm pretty sure that Stella did it. I've heard weird things about her powers too." She sighed then looked at Leah.

"It's the added unpredictable destruction, thing."

"The only unpredictable destruction you'd get from me is perhaps a spoon in your lungs..." She chuckled and played with her spoon idly, as if she was toying with the idea though the mirth in her eyes clearly telling that she was joking.

"That's cute."

The teleporters eyes darkened, showing she thought it anything BUT cute. She disliked Stella with a passion for making Lucas stay away from her all together, making her feel like he hated her. Even Damion's appearance darkened a bit, his steel-blue eyes becoming somehow more fierce.

"Hardly. But I owe him that much." She hissed softly, shaking her head.

"But what's to settle? She may as well be dead."

"He wishes to finish things the right way with her, I'd much rather smugly smile at her and leave her to fester like she left me to suffer." She grumbled darkly, "But she was his girlfriend for a long time... I owe him as much." She didn't like it, that much was PAINFULLY clear, but she'd do it.

"Is there anything about you that doesn't circle this boy?"

"Of course, I still have obligations to my family, to my familiar, and to my studies in the culinary arts that do not revolve around him..." She said. "Would it matter if there was not?" Curiousity touched her voice, the girl focusing her hazel eyes on Leah.

"The only unpredictable destruction you'd get from me is perhaps a spoon in your lungs..."

Leah's eyes flashed with curious light at that moment. It was the way this girl played strangely with her spoon. Couple that to her words and, well, Leah half-wanted her to try. "A spoon in the lung," She began, slowly, "I'd like to ask how, but I'd hate to ruin the surprise."

"He wishes to finish things the right way with her, I'd much rather smugly smile at her and leave her to fester like she left me to suffer."

"Left to suffer?" Leah didn't care much for the added text in that conversation; the words had caught her and she questioned them.

"Of course, I still have obligations to my family, to my familiar, and to my studies in the culinary arts that do not revolve around him..."

The obvious others, she thought.

"Would it matter if there was not?"

She gave a light shrug, pulling herself towards the edge of the table beside the girl and folding one leg over the other. "It says a great deal of what kind of person you are, don't you think? If he is the pivotal point of your life, and has only been there a short time, what does that turn the rest of it into," The corner of her mouth turned upwards, "Or should he leave you like he left her..." The drama would be priceless.
