Lucas moved through the hallways with unnatural haste. He could see that everything that just happened was getting to her, badly. Of course it had infuriated him, the way the whole situation went so awful in a matter of seconds, but the centre of the insults and attacks had not been him, but her. Lucas knew it was better to get out now, get somewhere safe, somewhere quiet and away from the masses.

He retreated as quickly to the Living Quarters, clinging to her hand for dear life as he pushed past people as simply as he could. Through the doors and up a few flights of stairs, but of course anyone who willingly paid attention looked straight at them with confusion and judgement. Either word got around quickly or these were reactions he’d never noticed the intensity of before.

On the fourth floor, finally. He fumbled for the keys in his pocket on the way up, unlocking the door quickly and moving inside, bringing her along with him before closing the door behind her. Instantly he turned, moving to pull her into an embrace. He rested his chin on her shoulder, realising then that he’d accidentally pushed her back against the door. Not that it mattered. In his mind he searched for something reassuring to say; but to a mess like that what was there besides the generic choices.

She hurried with him, the leopard doing his best to shove the kids out of the way with his weight, snarling at the ones that resisted too much. Zxaine glanced at each face as they passed, seeing the accusations and resentments in their eyes. She cringed at each one and tightened her fingers against his, resisting the urge to use the great deal of energy it would take to just teleport them up there. She knew that if she did, she'd not have the energy to do much of anything else the rest of the day.

Her sneakers pounded up the stairs, this area being clearer, allowing them to hurry. Fourth floor, down the hall, keys in the lock. Thankfully it opened easily and then they disappeared inside. He turned almost instantly, her back pushed against the door idly, her arms curling tightly around him as she buried her face in his neck. Her breathing was ragged, partially from nearly running to get out of the public eye, partially because of the dislike that she'd seen nearly radiating from everyone.

Her eyes closed and she tried to say something, anything, but she couldn't think of what to say. Her body shivering very slightly from the cold rain that now was starting to bother her, even if it hadn't when she'd been standing in the rain, her clothes dripping on the floor, puddles forming around their feet. She didn't move though, except to tighten her grip on him, her breaths hot on his neck. One of them was gonna have to move soon, if only to get something to dry off with, but she didn't want to. Finally she said something quietly.

"You're cold."

"You're cold."

"I don't care." He replied instantly. After all that had just happened, some things didn't matter initially. Lucas hadn't even registered the fact that they were still soaked from the rain. He quickly decided there was nothing good enough to say at that point, nothing reassuring enough was flying into his head but hopefully just being there would do some good. Though he was beginning to regret his actions. Perhaps being so public about everything was something she should have talked about instead of acting on impulses. He should have considered how it would affect her. It was selfish.

After a while he pulled back slightly, just enough so he could look her in the eyes. "You know I don't think that about you." Of course he was sure she knew that- he knew all of it was a lie- but it was all he could think of to try and ensure she wouldn't start believing everyone else.

"I don't care."

She hugged him closer to herself, just enjoying the closeness even as the puddle beneath them steadily growing. Her breathing slowed after a few moments, collecting herself now that there was no one around to continue to glare at her with those accusing eyes. She truly didn't care what they thought of her, or so she told herself, it was just too much to take after everything that had just happened.

As he pulled back that tiny bit her eyes found his almost instantly, her fingers loosening on him ever so slightly to allow the movement.

"You know I don't think that about you."

"Of course I know you don't." she said, her lips twisting into a tiny smile as she spoke. He could never think that of her, her eyes were gentle and trying to reason that she truly didn't care what they thought. It was nothing she wasn't used to, it was just too much at the moment. She sighed quietly and lifted one of her hands to press her palm against his cheek, her thumb trailing across his cheekbone. "We'll get through anything they can throw at us."

"Of course I know you don't."

It just annoyed him how people acted so carelessly. Was it always going to be this way for the two of them or was it simply an initial thing that would eventually simmer to nothing. There was the ever lingering issue of the other guy- Takeshi, Lucas thought he heard- and where he would fit into Zxaine's mind. Lucas liked to believe that answer was relatively obvious, and he didn't want to ask about it now.

"We'll get through anything they can throw at us."

"As long as you aren't regretting anything." He was mostly referring to the way every outsider looking on had reacted, the way everyone was bound to react to the idea of the two of them. His face inched closer to hers but something stopped him abruptly. "The way things ended with your friend, I suppose you want to talk to him." He said; not that he would try to convince her not to, but he would worry.

She noticed the worry in his eyes, quickly placing what it was from. Tadashi, of course he would be worried about that. Not that he had a reason to be, Tadashi was her friend and nothing more, no one could take Lucas' place in her eyes.

"As long as you aren't regretting anything."

"I don't regret anything." she confirmed quietly. He started to lean towards her and then paused, her head tipping very slightly in question.

"The way things ended with your friend, I suppose you want to talk to him."

She thought about that, then sighed. Yes.

"Yes, I will have to tell him where he stands in no uncertain terms. I do hope we can still be friends but... if not... then that's his choice." She said quietly then leaned towards him a bit, her voice lowering. "But that is the last thing on my mind right now." She whispered, closing the distance between them and pressing her lips to his. Her arms lifted to curl around his neck, gently pulling him closer to her.

"I don't regret anything."

That simple sentence brought a huge wave of relief over him. It was strange, the way paranoia and worry could twist things in the mind, but he was confident he had nothing to worry about. At least, not in that regard. He thought quickly to what happened in the quad moments ago, the way he had looked at the two of them before Namiashi intervined. Had be been looking at Lucas or Zxaine?

"Yes, I will have to tell him where he stands in no uncertain terms. I do hope we can still be friends but... if not... then that's his choice."

Lucas chose to say nothing; she already knew he was going to worry about the whole thing, why bother wasting his voice by saying anything about it?

"But that is the last thing on my mind right now."

She reassured him once more, furthering his faith in her. Maybe she wanted to forget everything that had happened, or at the very least, the second part of it. Lucas knew he wouldn't mind forgetting it, if only for whatever moments they had in sollitude together. She closed the space between them he had flinched away from, pulling him further in as they kissed- Though there was a door preventing them from moving any further.

This time he pulled away early enough to still have some life left in him, moving just enough to break the contact between them. "You're cold." He repeated her words, smiling lightly as he saw amusement in the fact that they were completely ignoring being soaked again. "Maybe we should change."

She inhaled sharply as he pulled his head back, her back pressed firmly against the door which had only furthered the puddle beneath them. She smiled and played with a bit of his soaked hair, her fingers raking through it idly.

"You're cold."

She chuckled, hadn't she just pointed that out to him. Tipping her head so that their foreheads were touching she smiled and stuck out her tongue.

"I don't care." She mimicked. Hoping to pull a chuckle from him with the response. She tipped her head back a bit, letting it rest against the door as the wool jacket she wore made a point of getting really cold. A shiver passed through her and Damion sneezed, at the very least she had to get the poor cat dry, he would get sick if she didn't... and that would mean she'd get sick... just all around not good.

"Maybe we should change."

"Yeah. And I need to dry off poor Damion." She sighed, but pouted at him. She was quite content to stay pushed against this door and kiss him, but he was right. At the very least they should get out of the wet clothing and into dry ones. She kissed his cheek then disappeared, reappearing behind him and tugging her soaked through jacket off, the red t-shirt under it clinging to her skin in both a flattering and distracting way. "I'll get us some towels, they're in the bathroom right?" She said, setting the coat on the floor where clean up would be easy.

"Yeah. And I need to dry off poor Damion."

At this point, Lucas noticed the feline in the room; sometimes he forgot about Damion's presense. He watched him for a few moments, listening as he sneezed. Then Zxaine pressed her lips to his cheek lightly, and he turned to her... But then she was gone. The surprise of it all and the lack of a supporting body between him and the door sent him forward. He put a foot out quickly to stop the small momentum but still managed to bang his head against the wood.

Then finally he turned around, a hand on his forehead because in his initial mind set it would somehow help for him to press his palm against the small amount of pain he felt. Lucas moved to walk towards her, opening his eyes and looking at her and stopping in his tracks.

"I'll get us some towels, they're in the bathroom right?"

After a few moments of just staring, he snapped out of it, "Uhh, N-no that's alright." And, finally averting his gaze, the boy darted off to the bathroom, coming back a few moments later to hand her a towl, forcing their gaze to her eyes.

She tugged at the t-shirt that clung to her form like a second skin as she started towards the bathroom.

"Uhh, N-no that's alright."

"It's alr...." She started, pausing as he darted past her leaving the girl confused. Her head tipped slightly as he vanished into the other room before she went to work trying to adjust the shirt. No matter what she did it clung to her slender form too much, surely it would be distracting. She lifted her head as he came back, her eyes meeting his with a questioning expression. She reached her hand towards the towel and smiled. "Thanks." She began to pat her body with the item, the dripping slowing down as she did. Then she blinked at herself and giggled, walking to him and standing up on the tips of her toes to drape the still mostly dry towel over his head and begin to towel dry his hair.

"You're gonna catch a nasty cold if you don't get yourself dry too." She said with a laugh, clearly not quite understanding that her current attire left nothing the imagination when it came to her figure. "We should hit the hot springs later maybe, the warmth would be a welcomed change from the cold rain." she draped the towel around his neck when she finished toweling his hair dry. She smiled and turned to Damion who had retrieved another towel, her fingers taking the item and beginning to rub his fur dry slowly, clearly ignoring the fact that she was still dripping onto his floor a bit.

"Thanks."

The second she took hold of the towel, Lucas reeled back a few steps, turning on his heel to face a different direction to save his damn self. But she would give him the distancee he'd sought out. Instead she stood before him, reaching up to dry his hair and say something about... something. It was relatively difficult to pay attention to what he was saying, so he just said nothing.

"We should hit the hot springs later maybe, the warmth would be a welcomed change from the cold rain."

Blink blink. Deep breaths. Lucas nodded at what she said. Then she left him to dry off the feline, leaving his hair a mess. Turning again, Lucas used the towel in his hands to start drying off his shirt. Looking down, he noticed the light material of his shirt had gone see through; for his sanity he was really glad she didn't have the same problem.

He spent a few moments brushing his fingers through his hair, simply for something to do. Of course that didn't hold his attention for long. He looked over her, desperate for someting to say, and all he could come up with was, "You're dripping everywhere." It was a little bit of fail.

She noticed that he hadn't said anything, glancing over her shoulder once as he was drying off his shirt a bit. She turned her eyes to Damion and began to rub off his neck.

"You're being a distraction and he's trying to be a gentleman." The cat mrowled, looking over at Lucas with a knowing gaze. "You're not being very nice with that attire being soaked through." He finished and Zxaine opened her mouth to object , she was CLEARLY wearing more clothing then she normally would, when she heard Lucas start to talk.

"You're dripping everywhere."

The cat laughed, the motion something even the boy would recognize as he fell over and buried his head under his paw. The girl swatted at him then stood up and tugged the large towel around her body, effectively hiding her torso from view, mostly, at least the most distracting parts would be shielded. She turned and smiled a bit.

"Sorry about that, got wrapped up in drying off him." She looked around then rubbed her arm. "Do you have something I could wear till I go back to my room?" she said quietly, Damion still laughing by her feet.

"Sorry about that, got wrapped up in drying off him."

It was finally safe to look at her; she must have finally clued into what was going on. By the way Damion was reacting, Lucas somehow figured out he probably had the feline to thank for that revelation. He pulled the towel from around his neck, throwing it and the other one in his hand idly in the direction of the bathroom,

"Do you have something I could wear till I go back to my room?"

His mouth twisted slightly, pulling to one side. Surely she could see how that could look to other people? Not that they cared much, still, it was better not to add fuel to the fire. "Are you sure about that? Maybe you should just teleport there, save yourself from the no doubt growing crowd behind the door?" He tried to explain that as best he could,

She finished drying off as best she could and pulled her hair out of it's braid, the long, wet lengths a bit wavy because of the tight braid. She toweled the lengths dry and then set it with the other ones that Lucas had tossed, picking all of them up and setting them in the nearest clothing hamper.

"Are you sure about that? Maybe you should just teleport there, save yourself from the no doubt growing crowd behind the door?"

She looked at the door, he was right though, it was probably best she not use any of his clothes to change into. She looked thoughtful then looked at the door. She could hear them outside it, pushing against each other, whispering about how quiet it was inside the room. Idiots, the lot of them, anyone who knew about her knew she could just as easily teleport them away from this room in an instant.

"Ok... I'll be back in a few minutes." She then vanished. She appeared in her room, Damion shaking out and rubbing on a towel that Kristy had let fall on the floor. The girl changed quickly into more normal attire for her, a red and black pleated skirt and black thigh highs, a pair of flats and a white t-shirt. The whole process took about 10 minutes, figuring if she could change that quick so could he. She vanished again, reappearing in his room, leaning against the door lightly. "Knock knock"

"Ok... I'll be back in a few minutes."

It seemed that she saw the point he had been trying to make, which was definately a plus. Otherwise it would have been a more awkward converstaion. At any rate, she quickly disappeared, and he took the time change qui kly, having no idea when she would return but being relatively sure she would choose to just reappear in his room. Once again, better to avoid the crowd that way, though he was sure after a little while they would move on. After all, how interesting could it be to listen to nothing?

"Knock knock."

As soon as he heard her voice, he moved back into the main room, walking towards her but then stopping quickly, resting a hand on his forehead. "I'm worried that if I come back over there you'll disappear and I'll hit the door again." He said, doing his best to keep a straight face as he eyed her curiously.

He started towards her then paused, her eyes blinking. Her attention remained on him, a bit of a smile playing on her lips as she leaned against the door.

'm worried that if I come back over there you'll disappear and I'll hit the door again."

She looked perplexed then sheepish. She hadn't meant for that to happen at all. She straightened up and walked towards him, leaving the door behind. As she got close she lifted up on her tiptoes and curled her arms around his neck. The girl gained enough height on the very tips of her toes to press her lips to the spot on his forehead that had hit the door. She relaxed back to her normal height and smiled appologetically.

"I'm sorry about that hon." She whispered, looking up at him. "Sometimes I forget." She finished, her arms still around his neck loosely.

She had simply looked at him when he spoke, the expressions on her face changing quickly; Lucas was doing well to keep that straight face then. Sometimes it was incredibly difficult not to just laugh. The joys of being with a normal but not-so normal girl, he supposed. Zxaine was quick to close the distance he hadn't dared to, and while he had height on her, when she lifted herself onto her toes with a definate target he made himself just a little bit shorter to assist her in her mission.

"I'm sorry about that hon. Sometimes I forget."

"I'm glad you realise that... Now." He replied, and then stood quietly for a few moments, a curious look on his face as he turned his head slightly and stared towards the door. After a few seconds, he finally spoke again, "I get the feeling they've all lost interest. Funny how that happens." Lucas explained with a smile. It was a real relief to know they were finally on their own. "Do you feel like gracing the public again or stay hidden where it's completely safe?"

"I'm glad you realise that... Now."

She smiled again, and blushed a bit. She was sure he knew she didn't mean to, like she said, she sometimes forgot...

"I get the feeling they've all lost interest. Funny how that happens."

She nodded and looked at Damion instinctively, the cat looked at her, then the door then nodded as well to indicate they'd be safe to leave through that exit.

"If we don't give them much to talk about then they'll lose interest soon enough."

"Do you feel like gracing the public again or stay hidden where it's completely safe?"

She wanted to stay in, but she looked towards the door. They shouldn't feel like they had to stay in private quarters to feel safe. She looked to the window, the rain was still coming down and she furrowed her brows in thought. She stretched a bit, her muscles stiff from the cold rain, the hot springs were sounding better and better all the time.

"I think we deserve to go out...." She answered after a moment, smiling at him sweetly.

"If we don't give them much to talk about then they'll lose interest soon enough."

Lucas wondered on her words lightly. It was true, and he thought that as soon as something more interesting came along, the masses would follow it instead of them. Captivating things were happening everyday, though it would be difficult to determine whether or not it was as enticing listening to stories about how the half the perfect couple moved on with she who seemed to be their biggest concern.

"I think we deserve to go out...."

He had waited while she contemplated the options before them, and he had thought the same way she did; they should not be forced to remain away from everyone simply because of everyone else. "As you like it," Lucas said, smiling at her and backing away slightly to turn towards the door.
