New season, new drama. XD

The Location:
Beaver Island State Park. A place that is known for its scenery, fairs and carnivals; a place just far enough from the hectic nature of Buffalo. Every autumn, this peaceful reserve transforms in foliage and in energy. The Autumn Festival held every year is an occasion, a celebration of the beauty of the season. All day, various food is sizzled and sold at constructed stands. Booths of all kinds boast raffles for prizes, carnival games, handmade crafts and even displaying works of art. One of the many center pieces of the festival is a massive pumpkin grown in a local farm. Carnival rides twirled and spun, inundated with screams of thrill seekers. The schedule of events are few and far between, as most of the live performances and entertainment spontaneously appear of their own accord. It is an otherwise laid back, relaxed atmosphere.

***

“You’re going to be doing that?”

Kanami says with a monotone seeing the crude little stand her cousin had made. It was akin to the design of a child’s lemonade stand with the inclusion of lots of painted stars and the hung sign “Wish Stars”. A stack of blocks were untouched to one side while a bevy of finished wooden stars were displayed on the other. Her cousin Lilica, owner of this fine stand, was already hard at work carving another star.

“Yup! I’m gonna make one fos lots of people so that the Great Pumpkin grants their wishes.”

Blink. Kanami should not have been surprised by the retarded ideas and belief her cousin had - it was just how she was. And yet, what came out of the girl’s mouth sometimes was just cause for a perfectly timed face-palm. “Great Pumpkin?”

“Yes!” The small girl brightens up. The gold star temporary tattoo that was painted on her cheek glimmered. “He appears around Halloween to give gifts to the children that believe in him. Only like Santa without the com-commercial-ism.”

“Who the hell told you that?”

“You did Kanatoko.”

Go figure Lilica would remember such an offhanded and obvious joke. Watching Charlie Brown near the cusp of Halloween time, a young Lilica asked if the Great Pumpkin was real. Several times. For days. Until Kanami, exasperated by her cousin’s constant question, replied that “Of course it was real. He did not visit Linus because he could not muster up enough belief for him from the other kids to show up. That's why if you believe in yourself and the Great Pumpkin, he'll come!”

“So I did...” Kanami says absently, tapping the surface of the Star Stand. “I’ll be back, hope you sell some of the stars.”

Her cousin did not reply, completely engrossed in her activity. The rhythmic shlick-shlick of the knife along the wood must be an idiot’s mantra, Kanami figured. With that, she walked off to see if there was anything interesting to see. Having been to the autumn festivals in Boston, this one so far has not even come close to the awesomeness. If anything, she would stick around to see the pumpkin catapult, those were always fun.

The stand she sat at was simple. A white, cotton cloth covered the table and she was busy stacking boxes and coolers. What was in these coolers and boxes? Well, tasty confections of course! She wasn't sure why she was doing this, but the girl hadn't really had much of a chance to make many friends at the school since she was often busy trying to split up Lucas and that girl. Half the time Zxaine could barely remember her name. Anyways. Damion was laying on one side of the table, his fur groomed and silken as his tail swayed from side to side.

"You almost done?"

She nodded her head to his question, though no one else would have heard him, and began to open one of the coolers and pull out tupperwares of chilled cakes, apple cobbler, and other such tasties. She arranged them on the table with a hum then pulled out another tupperware full of personal sized pumpkin pies. Then came the cookies and brownies. Each tray was arranged perfectly and looked like arrangements you might see on Food Network instead of in a park being attended to by a young girl. Sitting down she smiled and fixed the festive, orange collar she'd put on Damion to keep anyone from thinking he was wild. There were normal people here after all.

She hadn't really told anyone she'd be here, it was kinda one of those things she decided to do on a whim. But she hoped he'd be looking for her.

Different from what she was used to, it was her first distinct thought as Hikari walked and surveyed the people who would end up hopefully becoming her audience. Like the significance of the seasons at home, autumn was quite the big deal here. Pumpkin, potatoes and grilled meat filled the air. Children circled the games, vying for a prize or had their faces painted. Visages of happy faced pumpkins, fanciful scarecrows dancing in the breeze, less than threatening witches -

Oh, someone's raffling off three tickets for Wicked!

Hikari was quick to make a stop at that booth, reciving a red ticket in exchange for two dollars. She kissed it for good luck and stuffed it into her pocket. Even with that discovery, the girl's nerves did not settle. Ever since the flyers circulated through the school, she had wanted to make a spontaneous performance here. Why not? She had already seen a few students from her class wandering around. otherwise, Hikari was alone.

The girl stops in her tracks, the smell of pumpkin was pleasantly overwhelming.

"Ah, that smell is divine!" Her bright blue eyes wandered, finding that the scent came from the simple cloth table. Various treats were expertly displayed to catch the eye and draw in. They all looked wonderful, but inclined to follow the season, it was the pie that she decided on. Nothing wrong with a little treat! Of all things, Hikari recognized the now festively dressed feline, then recalled the girl behind the table. How could one forget that chair ordeal in math class?

"Oh, you're Zxaine, right?" Hikari asks cheerfully. "Everything looks fantastic. You must have been up early to make all of this!"

Away from the mass of crowds, technically part of the Beaver Island Golf Course, a large object covered in an abnormally large sheet was being tended to. Stein loved large occasions where he can showcase his talents, thus this Festival was perfect for him. He had to take precautions however; an odd pin visible on the pocket of his lab coat served a grand purpose, tested by the lovely Mai and Amaya on an occasion or two. The pin changed frequency in human vision to give him a different appearance apart from his usual ghoulishness. The MHS students however would see the same R. Lloyd Stein.

In fact, he had picked out two students to be his help. Whether they wanted to or not was not an issue to him. Phillip Ho was mechanically inclined, though rather odd given their brief time together, nothing outstanding but he was bright and exactly what Stein needed. Takeshi Akimura, a fierce looking boy who seemed rather annoyed that he had been chosen in the first place. The nature of his curse, which had been the initial reason why Takeshi was present, intrigued him. Physically he would be extra hands and eyes.

The object under the sheet was quite large in proportion to the science teacher and his students, 15 feet and that was without activation. But first, he had to run some extra diagnostics. The teacher glared over at Phillip.

“Ho, make sure there are no loose parts or screws on the external. If you see any, fix them. Trust your instincts.”

He makes a dramatic turn to the massive object and disappeared under the sheet. There is hissing and loud unlatching of bolts followed by the smooth slide of a door opening. All without disturbing the sheet hiding whatever he just entered.

“Akimura, assist Ho. If there are any complications, I will be inside running diagnostics and tests. We have enough time before the big reveal!”

"Piss off, then!"

Round the back of the nifty homemade Wicked tent was a fun competition. Well, it was fun for those involved until Eddie got a hold of the idea. She had wandered past because of course, the trademark picture of one whispering to the other could always catch her no matter what was going on. So she walked over, entered the competition despite having seen the show a few times already. And just as she stood back to turn, she saw something.

A point emerged from behind the set up's backdrop. She stepped to the table, leaning her hands on it and pressing forward. "What's going on back there?" She had asked, and was told a small group of people were involved in some kind of trivia battle, for show and book enthusiasts only. She simply had to throw herself in by giving a few easy answers.

"Twenty-two on the second floor, and if you don't know that I don't know how the hell you got back here!" Eddie was sitting at a small fold out table across from some kinda fat, mildly gross Wicked fanatic. Or so she thought. "Gimme that!" Flying forward, Eddie reached over and plucked the witch's hat from the fanatic's head.

"But I made that myself..."

"I don't care! I take it as my trophy."

"That's not fair..."

"Piss off, then!"

She got up and left, and another sat down. Eddie leant back in the chair, kicking her feet up on the table and reaching for the Aeon in her pocket. This was boring; someone she didn't hate had to be there. Dev wasn't, and Eddie was sure Kazuo was trying to sell drugs in one form or another. And Rena would be with him.

Staring across from beneath the wide brim of Elphaba's hat at her apparent new opponent, she lifted the phone to her ear and called Kanami.

"Are you at this suck fest too?" No need for formalities.

The view of the wondrous blend of oranges, reds, and yellows tickled Hikaru's fancy was he bounced here and there, glancing over the various stands the students had set up. There was some sweet stand set up by his classmate, Zxaine, but he wouldn't dare go there; He very much liked his waistline were it was.

Then there was some simply cute star stand that he guessed belonged to one of the freshmen.

"M-maybe if I go over and talk to her... I'll be called 'Hikaru-sempai~'" the trap squealed with delight at the thought of being the object of a forbidden love between a upperclassman and an underclassman like in all the dramas he watched. "But~ That's for la~ter... For now I must find out where my lovely idol is hiding! Surely he would LOVE to go around with his biggest admirer."

It was, of course, painfully obvious who the unlucky bastard was. If Dev was smart, he'd make himself scarce in the crowds. Still determined, Hikaru bouced and skipped, causing his orange and black plaid skirt to swish and sway this way and that with each step. Skipping his way up to a drink vendor and purchasing a bottle of water (he stayed far away from soda and the like unless it was a speciall occasion) he then seated himself upon a nearby bench in a feminie manner. There he sat with his striped thigh high clad legs crossed, glancing here and there to try to find his new obsession within the crowds.

Halfway through a tasty cupcake from some booth sponsored by the Girl Scouts, her Aeon beeps in a musical little number from a random anime - that particular one had been assigned to Eddie. Kanami wraps up the rest of the cupcake, pockets it into her mini backpack, and retrieves the Aeon from inside of her jacket.

"Are you at this suck fest too?"

“Yeah, the cousin is here handing out wooden stars and managed to bring me along, but otherwise this is not one of the better festivals. The snacks are awesome though. Did you see the Wicked stand?”

Out of all the raffles that’s going on (iPod raffle, ticket to comedy show raffle, mystery box raffle, etc) the Wicked one was the one that stood out. Kanami was not as into the whole thing, she read the book and found it entertaining. The musical was an entirely different ordeal on its own, not relevant to Kanami’s tastes, but she knew Eddie enjoyed it.

As she talked, her eyes surveyed the area. Her cousin may have sold a star or two, finding a pair of little kids carrying wooden stars, all painted and decorated. Good for her, there were a lot of hippies who would love crafts like that. Crowds gathered at raffle booths and many were partaking of apple cider (which sounded like a great idea now). Another crowd was gathering at a pond, though it was hard to tell what was going on there. At a bench, she could see the one she dubbed Bridget enjoying a drink and she found herself hoping Beerfest was around for max lulz. Doubtful, that would be too good to be true.

“I see that Hikaru kid. I take it your bitch isn’t with you.”

---

“No way, it has to be a trick.”

“How do they do that!”

Along one of the ponds, a crowd had gathered to see one of the spontaneous mini shows that happen to crop up during these sort of events. Three high school students dressed in stylish and visually surreal costumes of harlequins managed a fantastic feat - the three of them were walking on water, moving upon the surface as if they were moving on solid ground. Two girls, one with a visible pair of wings, the other with pinkish red hair, and a boy...or at least assumed to be a boy merely by way of dress. All had masks that matched the scheme of their outfits. There should be no possible way that any of them could even be moving on water, small children try and dip their hands in the water just to test it before their parents pull them away. A fine classical piece played somewhere, adding to the dreaminess of the show.

This particular performance if one could believe it by the grandeur of it all and the costumes particularly on the girls, had been suggested and made possible by the combination of Mai Ada and R. Lloyd Stein. The chipper History teacher sought out Keme “Akira” Cornell, Amber Ramius and Ayano Tachibana to do a little show. Reluctantly, the three had agreed, why not? It seemed to be fun.

The story behind the performance was lost upon the crowd, wowed by the trick alone. A dashing boy met two pretty girls and had consorted with one and the other until through mistiming, they find each other out. A deceiver using the smokescreen of love! The final confrontation was at hand. The boy was armed with a bow and a quiver of arrows at one end of the pond while the girls faced him with determined expressions. Together they begin to rush the boy while he fires arrow upon arrow. The girls perform amazing feats of acrobatics to avoid the arrows but are relentless in their pursuit. The boy panics, the chorus swells as the scene unfolds, he fires more arrows at them. One arrow seems to fly too close towards the girl with the wings, until through one fluid movement, she spins. The large ribbon on the back of her dress spins with her and amazingly wraps around the arrow, stopping it in its flight path and falling into the water. The other girl dealt with an errant arrow on her own, doing a daring spring jump that misses her lithe form by mere inches. Even stranger, the arrow briefly bursts into flames before disappearing into the water. Water droplets fly from the movements and yet none of the players were sinking - it was spectacular to see.

It was too late for the boy now, the two girls pull out small knives and together stab him. The boy says a dying word to the crowd “Forgiveness! My misgivings lead my life to it’s end!” and he crumples onto the water without sinking. The two girls nod to each other and pulls out their (unbloodied) knives from the body and raised it into the air - revenge had been taken, life may go on for the both of them. The girls bow, the crowd claps with some enthusiasm and the three players stand and take their bows.

The three had to stave off questions, the curiosities of the young children, and people who wanted pictures...namely by running into the crowds as fast as they could. The three of them now settled under the shade of a tree behind some raffle booths, removing their masks. Amber stretched out her wings and set her mask onto her lap. Stein’s strange inventions had worked without a problem: small waterproof attachments that were as flat as a quarter that affected the viscosity of water, solidifying it so that they appeared to walk on water.

“Ah, that was a great performance.” Amber says cheerfully to Keme and Ayano. “I’m just sorry we had to run so fast. It was fun walking on water.”

"Ah, that smell is divine!"

The brunette looked up from a tray of cookies she was arranging, her eyes were predominately honey colored today, taking from the color of the autumn leaves, though there were bright flecks of green still visible in the tone.

"Ah, thank you very much."

"Oh, you're Zxaine, right? Everything looks fantastic. You must have been up early to make all of this!"

Zxaine's eyes examined the girl then she smiled, she had classes with this girl. Damion sat up and leaned towards Hikari, his ice eyes intense, and Zxaine pushed his head away. Rude cat.

"Not that early. My mother helped me a little, she poured the pile filling into the shells while I did the rest. I like to cook." The girl smiled warmly and adjusted an out of place cobbler. "And yeah, I'm Zxaine. You're... Hikari right? You were in Math during the crazylady fiasco if I remember right."

Hikari smiles nervously, throwing a glance over her shoulder as if she was somehow certain that said crazy lady would be around carrying a random chair - her imagination was quite overactive when it came to that. Stranger things have happened around her. Hikari simply could not understand why anyone would try and attack this girl, she seemed perfectly nice!

"Yes, that must've been quite scary for you. Lucky that Namiashi-sensei has the sense to stop things as quickly as he falls asleep."

Hikari's bright blue eyes wandered over the treats. Having a closer look at them, she realized how difficult her decision would be. They all looked good!

"I would like one of the pumpkin pies, please."

“Ah, that was a great performance. I’m just sorry we had to run so fast. It was fun walking on water.”

"We'll just have to borrow these longer and try them elsewhere for fun." Akira says, smiling at Amber. He had to consider himself lucky that he was able to perform with his sempais - both were lovely in looks and to work with considering the insanely short notice. They had been able to plot up a story based on a short story Ayano remembered and adapted it to the water performance.

His eyes linger over to Ayano and was stunned at the venom in her eyes. It may have been directed towards Amber, but he could still feel his blood freeze over. All right, so it had not been all perfect - Ayano had some untold problem with Amber but maybe the preoccupation with the idea of walking on water and performing had staved it off.

Ayano, realizing that Akira was looking at her, cooled her glare and turned away. "It's all been well and good, but that doesn't mean we're on good terms, Ramius-san. And you nearly ran into me near the end there. Watch your steps next time!" Ayano waves her hand off.

"Be useful and get us something to drink. It's a rather dry day and we should be more vigilant about being hydrated!"

Eddie would only have to take a moment's glance to see that someone else was staring at her. A small girl with long pigtails and wide, shining brown eyes was watching her, but not quite paying attention to what she was saying. No, it was her trophy she was eying with the child-like wonder that seemed to be innate in all little kids. The girl was alone, quite odd considering she was of grade school age. The girl's barrettes were bizarre, almost like metallic cat ears with smooth blue gems of some sort. Not that anyone would give it a passing glance anyhow.

"Are you a witch?" The girl asks Eddie, pointing to the hat. "I did not know witches lived here too."

"Seen it?" She began, "Where do you think I am?"

“I see that Hikaru kid. I take it your bitch isn’t with you.”

"No, he decided his nerdy little game collection was more interesting than this hellfest." Eddie replied, not that she cared much. Sometimes it was better to leave him on his own instead so she could slowly crush his soul instead. Lol.

"Are you a witch? I did not know witches lived here too."

Eddie's initial thought was this; are you a good witch or a bad witch? She would have commended the strange small girl if she had gone to the reference, but she hadn't. So instead, Eddie simply raised an eyebrow and stared at her. It was uncomfortable for most to be stared at, but for Eddie she simply got annoyed and a little raged about it. "Yes." She lied, quite openly, "Now begone, before someone drops a house on you."

"Aaanyway..." She turned away from the girl, directing to her friend on the phone now. "Where are you? Let's meet up and insult people."

Hikaru hung his head in despair. It had been five minutes and... No sign of his Prince Charming. Now dejected, the feminine boy decided to skulk off to wallow in some sort of drama queen level of self-pity. Was it because he was here? Was he really so offended by the sight of the beautiful Hikaru? Only time would tell. Walking with head downcast, Hikaru nearly collided with a number of people as he muttered to himself under his breath.

"Dev-oujisama... Haa... If only I could be perfect for you... What is lacking?" He sighed heavily to himself whilst shaking his head. Another stream of incomprehensible, despairing jibberish was about to leave his lips when suddenly he bumped into some small figure. Looking up a bit he saw... a small girl? Someone's younger sister perhaps? Hikaru's eyes squinted a bit and his lips went taught in anger.

"Beat it, kid! Out of my way!" Snapped the trap hotly at the now tearing up little girl who stood before him. "I am in no mood to deal with your tears! Go find whomever is stuck with caring for you and cry to them... MOVE!"

And with that, the femme male stormed off, his gait a fast paced one.

"Seen it? Where do you think I am?"

Kanami chuckled. She knew full well of Eddie’s love for that particular show that it had to be a given she was already there. While never once holding an interest in stage productions of any type, Kanami had read the book one lazy summer day - a good read, but she doubted it would be as good on stage than book form. As for the ill-fated Devlin...

"No, he decided his nerdy little game collection was more interesting than this hellfest."

“Ahhh, Gay. This would’ve been a bagful of lulz if he was there. I had a plan and everything -”

"Are you a witch? I did not know witches lived here too." A small voice on the other end, probably a elementary school kid and completely unfamiliar. What the hell? Kids were so fucking stupid these days.

"Yes. Now begone, before someone drops a house on you. Aaanyway..." Eddie’s full voice returned after being pulled away by some random kid. Kanami had lost sight of Trap-kun and no Dev to speak of, her interest waned otherwise. "Where are you? Let's meet up and insult people.”

“Fuckwin. Um, there’s this fried dough stand where I’m standing with a crap-load of fat Midwestern tourist cows in need of a day’s insult with their diet cokes. Head straight, make a right at the hot dog stand and you’ll see the mightiest of horses.”

Kanami had to keep from snickering, for Eddie HAD to see these assholes for herself!

Amber could not help but to see Ayano’s sour attitude followed with that glare towards her while she and Keme laughed. It was impossible to ignore ad really, the nephlet had no idea why she shot such a glare. The boy had to look away from the awkwardness of it all, which may have garnered her attention enough to sweep up her hostility. A girl has to keep a certain air about her.

"It's all been well and good, but that doesn't mean we're on good terms, Ramius-san. And you nearly ran into me near the end there. Watch your steps next time!"

Amber’s impassive stare buried her feelings. Fair enough, the nephlet almost did mess up near the last part of the performance, but they both more than made up for it with spectacular results. Fine, she could take that note of criticism - don’t mess up near the end like that again.

“Ah, sorry.” Amber says with as much cheer as she could muster, brushing her hand through her hair. The apology may have been lost to the fiery girl as she merely waved it off.

"Be useful and get us something to drink. It's a rather dry day and we should be more vigilant about being hydrated!"

For some reason, the urge to wantonly smash her in the face with the nearest branch was a little more difficult to push down. So violent was the image of her smashing her jaw that the winged girl was shocked by it. Was it the nightly fighting of the urges finally seeping into her waking thoughts? What was this girl’s problem with her anyhow? All questions without answers and thoughts to be buried, hidden behind the calm smile. A side glance to Keme, who seemed to be eve more uncomfortable being present. Could he feel it surging just then? No - it’s just her, it had to be.

“Ah, sure.” Amber says despite the girl's rudeness and while fighting the urge to say it through clenched teeth. She shifted and stood, smoothing out the clips of grass and fallen leaves from her dress. “I saw a water stand while we were fleeing. I’ll be back.”

With that, Amber turned and started off towards the multitude of stands. A little distance between them would benefit both Ayano and herself. Besides, a clear bottle of water sounded quite nice on a fresh day like this. Snacks of all types surrounded her, but she found little to enjoy. In the background, the cheers and screams from the many carnival rides filled the air. All good energy, enough to make her forget those thoughts. While waiting in line, the nephlet looked down at her dress - thankfully Emmy and Mazo were not present to see her in such an odd thing. The winged girl was quick to buy three bottles of water and started back...

And then she bumped into someone, a bottle slipping from her arms and onto the grass with a thump.

"Ah, sorry!"

Lucas found it difficult to find things to keep his mind from the awkward and terrible situation he'd put himself in. He'd been wandering around the campus when he noticed how quiet the place was, more quiet than on other days and it was only then that he recalled the Autumn Festival being on. So now he was simply walking around the festival for something to do or someone he recognised.

"And yeah, I'm Zxaine. You're... Hikari right? You were in Math during the crazylady fiasco if I remember right."

Zxaine hadn't told him she was going to be here, and he naturally assumed that she would. She must have decided on attending quite randomly. Not that it mattered much. "Zxaine!" He called out to her, pushing past the few people in his way to see her behind the table. Midway he had stopped suddenly; perhaps he had sounded too happy or excited to see her?

Oh well, he looked over what she'd set up before his attention turned to Damion; Lucas always felt strange if he didn't greet the feline. He reached over to rest his hand on his head for a few moments before looking back to Zxaine once more and quickly realising she had been talking to someone.

"Oh, I'm sorry. I don't think we've ever met, I'm Lucas." He greeted, extending a hand to Hikari with a smile.

"Yes, that must've been quite scary for you. Lucky that Namiashi-sensei has the sense to stop things as quickly as he falls asleep."

Zxaine smiled and nodded her head politely, she was in a more cheerful mood lately then she had been in class when she'd seen this other girl but no one but the girl and Lucas knew about that. She wondered what he was up to, she hadn't mentioned being here... and he hadn't either. Was he at the school by himself? The thought of that saddened her, but she had all these confections to sell....

"I would like one of the pumpkin pies, please." That snapped her out of her thoughts and she lifted one of the personal sized pies, handing it to her.

"One dollar." she said with a smile. She wasn't charging obscene amounts for this stuff, she wasn't in it for the money, just for something to do. It was then that an invisible string seemed to tug on her and her eyes looked over the crowd curiously. As if expecting something or someone.

"Zxaine!"

Her face lit up and she reined it back in, forcing herself to remain seated behind the table. The object of her affections pushed his way through the crowd, obviously trying not to appear too excited himself.

"Lucas, I didn't think you were gonna be here." She smiled warmly as she spoke, her eyes focused on him. Damion purred loudly as the boy's hand came in contact with his head, meowing quietly and rubbing his head against the boy's limb with obviously like for the boy. She had completely forgotten the other girl was there until he mentioned it.

"Oh, I'm sorry. I don't think we've ever met, I'm Lucas."

She looked over to Hikari and laced her fingers behind her back now they were sans pie. She looked down at her attire, the plain, yellow sundress wasn't something she usually wore around the boy, but she hoped he liked it well enough. It hadn't been cold enough for her to don pants after all. She didn't think he'd ever really even seen her in pants now that she thought about it.

"Hey.... Hikari... Can you do me a favor?" she leaned towards the girl just a touch, feigning a completely innocent expression that Lucas would probably see right through. "Could you watch the stand for me? Just for a little bit? If you do you can keep any profits you make while you're watching it...." She smiled sweetly and Damion laughed at the two teens. They were so cute it was hilarious.

"Yes." Said the self proclaimed witch quite openly. "Now begone, before someone drops a house on you."

The small girl's eyes widened in wide-eyed wonder. There was no fear then more than it was complete adoration and curiosity. Could she really do that? Make a house fall from the sky? The twin-tailed girl wanted to inquire further, but there was a bump from someone walking into her. She turns and stares up at an obvious pretty girl in some distress. The girl looked down at her and suddenly seemed angry.

"Beat it, kid! Out of my way!" The girl snapped at her in a way that made her flinch a little. The small girl did not run through, she stared back up at the girl with confusion. "I am in no mood to deal with your tears! Go find whomever is stuck with caring for you and cry to them... MOVE!"

With that, the girl stomps past her to which she sidesteps to allow her to pass, but her gaze remains on her. Why had she been so angry? As any child, her attention wanes on matters she cannot understand and returns to the witch she had been speaking to. Her shining brown eyes locked on and with any step the witch would make, the girl would patter along after her.

[A weird girl joins the party!]

The women swoon, the men glare with jealousy hold their women a little closer if they have one; the usual reactions that accompany a man of his caliber! These people don’t even know who the gorgeous man is, but he is certainly not a person that would be traversing a local festival. The young man is tall, his facial features are well-defined, that of a world-class model. His clothes were far too refined to tread lowly dirt and grass trails, an embroidered long coat open to reveal a fine collared shirt, his pants are fitted, his boots glossed without a trace of clinging dust. His saffron hair is long and tied back with a single coal gray band, his long bangs often fell over one of his steel blue eyes. He has confidence, in fact he could flash a dazzling smile at the next girl that crosses his path and cause a frantic blush to cross her face.

If he had the particular intention, that is. His face is locked in a determined expression, tossing a glance here and there yet not seeming to focus for too long. Without watching where he was going, he feels contact as someone carelessly bumps into him. His eyes lower, contempt at first - how dare someone draws him from his search!

Spy the slender body, the lovely blue eyes, the tears of a forlorn female; all were hard to ignore. She may not have been much in the way of prominent assets, but he was not always picky when it came to the fairer sex. The young man’s scowl softens.

“Are you all right, miss?” He asks in his most velvety voice. “I hope you are not hurt. A lovely creature should not have to shed tears.”

A dollar was a reasonable price as the confections looked like they could be worth more in looks and taste. How wonderful to meet more talented people from her own class! Hikari had been more shy than usual those first few days, a fair difference from her previous school. More variety, more quirks, all for the better.

“Zxaine!” A voice called her companion’s name and the girl’s face lit up briefly. The person was a boy, and an oddly familiar one at that. It was hard not to know who Lucas was, Hikari listened to the rumors and whispers that floated along the hallways. The kind and gentle boy in the junior class who was attached to the hip of Stella Midnight...until recently. Hikari had always turned a deaf ear to the finer details of the rumors, knowing full well the weight and pains of gossip. Focus! Zxaine’s odd but lovely cat responded well to Lucas with an audible purr - so cute!

"Oh, I'm sorry. I don't think we've ever met,” The boy had addressed her that Hikari popped out of whatever thoughts she had. “I'm Lucas."

“Hikari.” The cheerful pink haired girl introduced herself, shaking his hand. “Hikari Shirakawa. I’ve heard about you Lucas-sempai, so it’s good to meet you.”

"Hey.... Hikari... Can you do me a favor?" Zxaine asks kindly, "Could you watch the stand for me? Just for a little bit? If you do you can keep any profits you make while you're watching it...."

“Ah, really?” Hikari says with an incredulous blink of her eyes. It actually would be fine by her to handle a favor, but she was more surprised the girl could trust her to watch it. A glance to Lucas for a moment then back to Zxaine. She could hold off on an impromptu performance later.

“Sure, I can watch it.” She responds with a bright smile. Hikari was simply too kind of a girl to refuse a request.

=====

“Ah there he is!”

Peering from behind a tree a good distance from a certain confectionery stand was a pale girl, binoculars to her eyes. Her clothes were rather low key for the festival, a blue sweater, jeans, boots and a scarf embroidered with patterns of autumn colors. In essence, Yuna had been following Lucas around campus from a fair distance, debating if she could muster the courage to talk to him. When alone, he had such a pleasing air about him and his presence lit up any scene - at least Yuna's imaginative mind could picture such the aura of sparkles and flowers that would bloom behind him. Despite the fact that fate led her to be in the same class as him, she simply could not find the words to speak to him or even approach him. Even snagging a chance during was impossible as lunch he was around other people; sometimes a girl with wings, but it a particular girl from the sophomore class seems to be monopolizing his time the most these days.

Yuna focused on the pink haired girl first and felt a rush of anger at there mere exchange of a greeting. How dare she touch the object of her affection! No, that was not the one she had to worry about, it was the one in the yellow sun dress. The view moves to the girl, who now was talking to the other - yes, that was the one. It tore at Yuna’s nerves that the girl had been siphoning from her dear Lucas, but she had to bide her time.

“Lucas...” She whispers to herself and crouches behind the tree. “A harlot is siphoning your kind heart and you’re not able to realize it. Not to worry, I have the purest love for you and you alone.”

Yuna blushes, breaking into a the warmest smile. Yes, she would be the one to win this, it was fate!

"I am in no mood to deal with your tears! Go find whomever is stuck with caring for you and cry to them... MOVE!"

"Hey! Douchebag McIsis! Cut the shit, already." Of course initially Eddie hadn't noticed her/him/it in her presense, because hey, if Eddie doesn't like or even care about someone, they kind of don't appear on her radar at all. But y'know, yelling at someone she is kind of half talking to, whether she wants to or not, is a way to get her attention sometimes. Sure. But like a blip, was once there disappeared pretty quickly.

“Fuckwin. Um, there’s this fried dough stand where I’m standing with a crap-load of fat Midwestern tourist cows in need of a day’s insult with their diet cokes. Head straight, make a right at the hot dog stand and you’ll see the mightiest of horses.”

Eddie took a few steps in the right direction and heard a few following behind her. "Yeah I think I saw that." There was a definate odd sense of paranoia in her voice. She hung up without saying goodbye, because hey, ther's what she did normally, and turned on her heel to look over her shoulder. Yeah... That kid was following her. Eddie stared, raising an eyebrow and adopting her best curious yet annoyed face.

"If you're going to follow me at least be useful. Get me a drink, and god help you if I don't like it." She turned once more and walked away. It was fun to mess with weird people.

------

"Lucas, I didn't think you were gonna be here."

He smiled lightly at the sound of her voice, "Call it a last minute decision."

“Hikari. Hikari Shirakawa. I’ve heard about you Lucas-sempai, so it’s good to meet you.”

"Ha, a reputation, and one that preceeds me." Lucas said, though in truth he was aware that most people at the school knew him, for his seemingly perfect relationship if nothing else. He hoped there was more to him in the eyes of the students than that, "I hope it's all good news on the student grape vine," Not that it really mattered.

"Hey.... Hikari... Can you do me a favor?"

Lucas turned his attention and gaze back to Zxaine as she spoke, listening as she asked the girl to keep an eye on her little store for a while. Was she serious? For a moment Lucas' emerald eyes flaired with confusion and mild disbelief. She sounded surprised, but who wouldn't be at the sudden request?

“Sure, I can watch it.”

"Oh, good. I needed to talk to you about something important." A heavy undertone of worry played into his voice. He turned to look at Hikari quickly. "I'm sorry if this is inconvenient for you." Lucas said, and he waited for Zxaine to leave before following along.

“Sure, I can watch it.”

The girl's face lit up and she stood up from her stool, offering it to the girl who had so graciously accepted her asked favor. She moved around the table, taking the girl's hand and giving her the teleporter's best 'You're amazing' smile.

"Oh, good. I needed to talk to you about something important."

The concern in his tone caused her eyes to look at him with questions in her eyes, serious ones that made the normally gentle arch of her brows look a bit exaggerated.

"Alright, let's go talk then." She walked towards him, her fingers reaching out to touch his arm before she turned towards the crowd. "Damion." She said simply, her tone alluding that she was worried that someone might KNOW.

"I'm sorry if this is inconvenient for you."

She flashed Hikari a grateful smile.

"Help yourself ot any of the sweets. I'm sure all will not sell...." She nodded her head and turned towards the crowd, finding the quickest way to a quiet corner where the two could talk without prying eyes. Her fingers twitched, as if she was about to reach for his hand, then she started into the throng of people. "Looks quiet over here...."

Damion hopped down from his spot and looked to where Yuna had been sitting. Oh yes, the cat noticed the girl hiding there and his ears went back, lips pulling from fangs in a clear warning. Then he turned as if nothing had happened and followed his mistress.

In the tradition of bumping into random strangers that commonly happens in this event, another budding interaction rose from a fallen bottle of water glistening in the sunlight. Lucky for her, it was sealed shut. A hand lifted the bottle from the grass and handed it back to her, the hand belonging to a young man with messy spiked brown hair and eyes the color of rust. The constant changes in weather bothered him, but he had a long coat prepared over a hunter green dress shirt and opted for dark pants and boots. Still, what could bother him more than boredom from this sort of affair other than carelessness. The young man could have very well left the apologetic girl to pick up the bottle she dropped, but he may have felt generous today. Generous, but so very annoyed.

“Ah, sorry!”

“Don’t apologize. You should’ve watch where you’re going.” He says coldly, unable to smooth the temperamental words. It was all he knew, to be dismissive when shit happened no matter who was at fault. He casts another look over the girl who had the gall to bump into him and suddenly his memory was jogged. The lake, he had just seen that surreal performance on the surface of the lake just a while ago. He never cared for the tale itself, but the pair of female leads were worth watching. Not to mention the whole idea of dancing upon the water’s surface captured his curiosity. How possible was it? A smirk crosses his face and he leans uncomfortably close, locking eyes with hers. Dark, almost black - how lovely in oddness, he thought to himself.

“You’re pretty cute up close and mask-less. You and the other two were the ones on the lake earlier. A decent show, you all wowed the spectators.”

His rust-hued eyes makes a slow notice of the wings on her back. While an odd choice for the part of a harlequin-inspired costume they were well made, appearing to be almost real and warm if he were to touch them. The young man was not tactless, people in the city have been jumpy lately and within good reason. He also was not easy to fool as others around him appeared to be. His curiosity for this place and its people desired understanding. The uncovering of illusions is a desire in need of a different resolution. He starts to circle the girl, meaning to inspect the wings for himself.

“I do wonder, miss. The sort of magic, the sort of talent you three used to achieve such a miraculous effect." He pauses, lifting his hand to touch a wing.

"Or is it left best to draw a guess from those bewitching dark eyes?”

“You’re gonna let her snatch him up?”

A slender shadow falls upon the stalker with pale pink hair. Gaze along to trace the owner and the eavesdropper would reveal to be a cute, smiling girl. Her long dark hair was tied in twin-tails, her eyes resembled a darkness that almost appeared blue-violet in the wavering light through the trees. She wore a simplistic uniform: plain long-sleeved shirt, stylish pink tie, blue pleated skirt, tights and loafers - she may have come from a local school. A pink scarf around her neck fluttered with the change in wind. How long had the girl been standing there, watching?

The girl peers around the tree, eyes sweeping where her new found acquaintance had been watching eagerly. A confectionery stand, three people and a fair-sized cat growling it seems in their general direction; how interesting! Deciding to omit details, she simply pops behind the tree and turns to the stalker with a wide grin.

“You really like that guy, huh? I saw you earlier following him.” She waves her hand off, as if to mean that she would keep the observation to herself, and kneels on a soft patch of grass.

“Oh, I also thought you were someone else that I knew from school, so I got curious. I didn’t mean to startle you. I’m Ki.”

Twice Hikaru blinked his tear stained lids as a soft melodic voice called out to him. Great... Just what he needed... Someone was going to give him hell for bumping into them. What manner of lowly commoner would dare raise his voice against him whilst struck with grief over the absence of his prince?! The nerve of it all!

Yet... What was this? The words that invaded the feminine male's ears were not hostile, but comforting... flattering even. A small line of crimson bled across that finely dolled up face (Hikaru used only the finest blush, eyeliner, eyeshadow, and the like) as he turned to look upon the gentleman who called out to him. Fair was he... and not too badly dressed; he was certainly no commoner. In fact, Hikaru could name every last brand of clothing he wore, down to his boots and undergarments no doubt.

“Are you all right, miss"

... He was a looker, but was the man insane?! He, the bewitching Hikaru, was shedding tears!

"I'll be... fine. Just feeling the bitter pangs of abandonment from my one, true prince..." Hikaru sobbed lightly after the words dripped off of his tongue. The realization was far too heavy to bear anymore.

“I hope you are not hurt. A lovely creature should not have to shed tears.”

Catching the last bit of the stranger's words, the raven haired femme boy froze. Was he attempting to hit on him? But... But.... No! He couldn't! The temptation would be too great...

"U-uhm... N-no, I'm not harmed. Physically, anyway... Like I said before, my heart is aflame with anguish you could not believe. I have been left for video games and fictional characters! Are my looks not enough?! Tell me! Am I hideous? Is it my clothes?! What has made me so undesirable?!" The raven haired archer spoke in a voice that rose in tone until he finally sighed a deep sigh. The more you care, the more you hurt... And that was certainly what twisted little Hikaru was thinking.

New season, new drama. XD

Amber flinched at the stranger’s harsh remark, unable to thank him immediately for returning the fallen bottle of water. Considering that this was a festival of the harvest and celebrating the brilliance of autumn, there was not a whole lot of cheer. Either that or she was simply unlucky, constantly dealing with such cranky people. Amber lifts her head to face the young man. He was not exactly the kind of handsome Amber found preferable, but he could be if he dropped the apathetic aura about him or even if he could just smile. It was then she realized that the stranger was looking at her in a way that...well, made her really uncomfortable. She could not exactly place why she felt unnerved - maybe it was his eyes the color of rust or the odd way he smirked.

Or maybe she was just nervous overall? Push it away, it’s nothing.

“You’re pretty cute up close and mask-less. You and the other two were the ones on the lake earlier. A decent show I might add. You wowed the spectators.”

“Eh?” Amber squeaks, then after letting the compliment settle in, regained her composure. She smiles politely despite her lapse. “Ah, thank you. It was cobbled together pretty quickly...”

She barely finished what she had to say when his rust eyes flicker to her wings. Amber felt her heart drop and her stomach simultaneously. It was something she was touchy about, the overwhelming sensation of scrutiny as if any human would be able to see through her, reading her despite the implausibility of it all. She was wearing an ornate costume, the wings make sense! And yet the paranoia remained.
The wings are real, not costume.
What are you, a freak?
Devil in plain sight, liar!

Those negative feelings only heightened as the stranger begins to circle around her. What was he doing? There was no way that some random stranger would be able to get an inkling of what she was. Paranoia, it was nothing but her own mind playing with her, but his scrutinizing gaze was not helping in the least!

“I do wonder, miss, the sort of magic, the sort of talent you three used to achieve such a miraculous effect.”

Emphasis. What was he getting at? Amber refused to break her gaze, his hand nearing her pristine wings.

“Or is it left best to draw a guess from those bewitching dark eyes?”

Amber makes a quick pivot so that his hand touches thin air instead and stares at him with wide, cautious eyes. Her arms were full with the bottles of water, but she would have gladly dropped them in order to strike him - no, she couldn’t cause a commotion out here. It had been her only reason that he did not receive a punch. The nephlet takes a step back away from him, breaking into a forced smile.

“Ah, not to be rude, but these were rather expensive. I’m very cautious with my accessories is all. As for our act...it’s a secret.” Amber bows her head with a cool politeness and lifts her head back up with a smile. Simple answers, let him not ask another, just leave.

“I have somewhere to be.” She says, making sure he notes the bottles of water in her arms. Three, all for the performers. “Have a nice day.”

While she waited for Eddie to arrive, there was this little entertaining exchange that took place.

“Moooo.”

Kanami says loud enough for one of the heavy-set customers waiting for fried dough and funnel cakes to toss a glare at her. His wide load of a wife tried her best to ignore the girl while the two pudgy kids stared at her with their beady eyes.

“What did you say, bitch?” The man says, his neck fat jiggling as he spoke.

“You heard me. Moooo.”

The man began to thunder towards her, his rolls of fat squishing around like bagged mashed potatoes. Kanami turned and begin to run at a steady pace with good reason. Random festival-goers looked on with either amusement or confusion - maybe some disgust for whatever reason. As expected, the man began to slow in his run, heaving as if he had been running 20 miles as opposed to the actual 20 steps. The snarky girl turns on a heel with a surprised expression on her face.

“Holy shit dude. I counted 20 steps before you pooped out. How far is your fridge anyways, ten? Jesus Christ, how do you survive making it to the all you can eat buffet line at the Golden Corral? I can see why those rascal scooters exist, just so you can save precious energy for chewing.”

“It’s a glandular problem!” The sweaty man slobbers in between heavy huffs of breath.

“There are no fat glands, lay off the mayo!”

Just as the exchange ends, Kanami turns and sees Eddie in a pointy witch hat (confiscated from that one stand no doubt) heading her way...with a small, unfamiliar girl in tow. She raised an eyebrow, who the hell was the kid? She didn’t appear to have any resemblance to Eddie in any way, but considering how little Lilica resembled Kanami, it could still be a cousin or niece. A smirk crosses her face and she jogs to greet her.

“Ed-die! I got The Blob pretty pissed off if you wanna join. He's easy to outrun too, it's fucking hilarious!” Kanami shouts cheerfully then calms down enough to point to the small girl. “What's that thing? Is that you and Beerfest’s love child or something?”

"Help yourself to any of the sweets. I'm sure all will not sell...."

"Thankes Zxaine," The girl says cheerfully. Absolutely they would, Hikari thought to herself, people tend to love treats of such lovely caliber! The pink haired girl cheerfully took her place behind the stand, making mental notes of each treat and each price.

"I'm sorry if this is inconvenient for you." Lucas says. Hikari simply waves her hand off.

"No no, it's not a problem at all!"

Hikari watched the pair walk off and turned her attention to the task at hand. She'll find a way to sell these lovely treats somehow!

----

"Yeah I think I saw that."

Her paranoia was not entirely unfounded. The small girl ignored what the witch was saying on the strange phone device, instead seeming cutely awestruck by the pointy-hatted witch in general. The witch turned to her, giving her a raised eyebrow of a look. In response, the girl’s smile is shy and utterly adorable to those that were susceptible to that sort of thing.

"If you're going to follow me at least be useful. Get me a drink, and god help you if I don't like it."

And with that, the witch turns away. The command burned into her mind - a drink. What do witches drink? The small girl watches as another girl joins the witch. She appeared to be normal and lacked a pointy hat, but perhaps she was the witch’s apprentice? The girl patters off to find a drink for the witch, there were many to choose from and she would have to choose wisely.

"Drink-drink..."

------

The young lady had then replied, despairing over the pain of beng abandoned by her prince - how awful! How dare this prince of hers leave the poor waif waiting! It was enough to make Louis’s blood boil. Women should never have to shed tears in his glorious presence. The girl then seemed to react to his kind words. Was she in awe of his magnificence? Of course she was, Louis thought to himself, all women seem to melt in his humble presence. Did this prince of hers ever speak kind words to her, Lui wondered.

"U-uhm... N-no, I'm not harmed. Physically, anyway... Like I said before, my heart is aflame with anguish you could not believe. I have been left for video games and fictional characters! Are my looks not enough?! Tell me! Am I hideous? Is it my clothes?! What has made me so undesirable?!"

The raven haired girl’s voice ascended with the resonation of pain in her heart. The young man’s expression remained calm and collected, despite his feelings towards the situation. He takes the despairing beauty’s hand the way a gentleman of his caliber would.

“He must be a fool to leave a lovely being of your caliber for something untouchable as fiction and games. Do not despair my dear, for he is merely blind to your grace.” That said, he plants a single kiss atop the poor creature’s hand. It was the most Louis could give to console his companion; how he hates to see any woman in anguish!

“I may not be the prince that you desire, but it would be cruel to allow you to be without company. With any luck, he will realize the error of his ways and come to see you after all.” The long haired man bows slightly. “My name is Louis Du Monet, but you may refer to me as Lui if it pleases you.”

-----

Meanwhile, a fair ways away from the festival...

“Huh. Hey, Phil. You sure you remember where this piece went?” Tadashi says, staring in annoyance at the abnormal looking part in his hand. He was not exactly sure what to make the metal octagonal cylinder with weird symbols were etched on one side, all he knew was that he could be seeing Zxaine by now. He had remembered watching her set up a stand of sorts in the festival grounds and could have approached her had Stein suddenly not appeared and dragged both he and Phillip away. Now he was here, watching Phillip tinker away while he just had to stand there.

Phillip resurfaced from the open compartment he was working on, the gummy object of his transforming from a wrench into a screwdriver. He glances at the part his friend had been talking about and does a bit of a double take.

“Well...that’s odd. I have no idea where that would fit in this particular panel.”

“But you took it out, didn't you?” Takeshi says through clenched teeth. How important was the part anyways? The last thing they needed was Stein beheading them and using their brains for “scientific research” all because a part they (er, Phillip) took out could spell possible disaster. Phillip and Takeshi stared at the strange part, both no doubt imagining said scenario.

“...Don't panic, I can fix it!”

“You’re gonna let her snatch him up?”

A shadow falls upon her and Yuna freezes instantly. Oh no...someone saw her! She doubted it was her darling Lucas, or that hussy Zxaine but she wondered for a moment if it was someone problematic. A classmate of hers? An underclassmen? A random interloper? A number of possibilities rushed through her mind while her hand slowly moved to the small purple bag at her belt. Yuna turns to face the person and pauses. It was a girl, a pretty one who wore a sort of school uniform.

"Ah...what?" Yuna says, unable to think of anything proper to say. What was she supposed to do, admit that she may be stalking her one true love?

The girl peers around the tree and the pale girl found herself contemplating running for it. Before she could act upon the impulse to run, the pig-tailed girl turned to her with a wide smile.

“You really like that guy, huh? I saw you earlier following him.” The girl says with a nonchalant wave of her hand. It did not make Yuna feel any better yet, but she did question the girl's motives for approaching her. What if she was a friend of that hussy? Or even Lucas - and god help this girl if she was!

“Oh, I also thought you were someone else that I knew from school, so I got curious. I didn’t mean to startle you. I’m Ki.”

Yuna's eyes widened. Did this girl hear her thoughts? No, it was best not to think that way. Her face was not familiar but that did not mean "Ki" was off the hook just yet. Yuna smiled shyly, she would just have to take caution.

"I-Is that so?" She half feigns nervousness, playing up the innocence factor. Being so pale and sweet on the outside gave her an image of a shy, sickly girl that seems to work in her favor. "I don't get told that often...I'm Yuna. But it's not what it looks like, I just know the guy and I find him to be very sweet...so I'm watching over him."

Cue a real blush, she could not hide that particular aspect of herself. Yes, an angel of love and fate for Lucas Reed!

“Ed-die! I got The Blob pretty pissed off if you wanna join. He's easy to outrun too, it's fucking hilarious!”

As she had turned to leave, Eddie felt the whole ordeal would be more dramatic if she'd stayed a little longer and stolen a cape or something. Damn, that would have been awesome. At any rate, Kanami had ran towards her with such an overjoyed look on her face; the little explanation she gave put that in check for her. The little girl was still, in those moments, following her a little curiously, probably a little confused at her request or something like that.

“What's that thing? Is that you and Beerfest’s love child or something?”

"Yes, becuase that's how that works. Sunshine and dreams makes eight year old children appear." She said, shrugging, "Let's go all Sailor Moon on this theory and say it's a baby from the future! Oh, but I'm not sure about the future thing, I mean, Lady Gaga down the street there may very well turn him into a giant Mo. Then perhaps the child is a product of the failed Will and Grace storyline."

Anyway, she looked towards the raging man with a curious look on her face. "What's up, fat?" Eddie pointed towards the people behind him, "The lard cluster behind you must be the family? I like that you teach your morals to the small ones, Cake and Bacon." She took a step to the side, throwing a thumbs up in their direction. "Nice names."

------

"Looks quiet over here...."

Lucas looked to the direction she spoke of, nodding slightly before they started pushing through a mass of people. Something important must have caught their attention, which he supposed was a good thing. It meant there would be less people in different areas. Still, people seemed far too preoccupied with what was going on in front of them.

"You seemed a little too eager," He whispered, not angry but more cautious than anything else, "I had to think of something to say. Everything's fine." Lucas wanted to be quick to reassure her, after all, she had seemed genuinely worried something went completely wrong.
