(Briefly broken off from Wings of Obscene, will mend back to it when it picks up...) A minor recap. “I would move quickly Mazohyst. Chuckles may have had an earlier snack -” Scriiiitch, scriiiitch, the sound of metal clawing, dragging along the dank, bloodied stone walls. Heavy footsteps that shook the ground followed by the shiver of chains. “- but he has quite the voracious appetite.” "Then I'll kill it." Proud sword standing in the ground and the lighting of a cigarette. All without effort, all without worry. "And then I'll decide which direction to move in. I'll do as I please." “Splendid!” The Nowhere Man seemed thrilled by the boy’s decision. The beast's shadow growls, clawing the wall with a loud, dragging sccrrriiiiiiiiitttch as it neared the corner, close to it's grand reveal. "And that's why I can respect a mortal of your caliber. You are not guided by excess of pride or primal fear - you do as you please even in my own tapestry of madness." The strange doll lying on the floor now moves in slow strokes, a pained crawl toward Mazohyst, a pad of a hand reaching for him as if to warn him - run, RUN. The sobbing returns in full audible force, escalating to wails of a child in fear, trapped in pain. From around the corner, a long metallic claw attached to a bulky arm rounds the corner and stabs into the doll. A ear-splitting scream, bright red blood seeping through the skin of rags, the doll seems to struggle and squirm. The claw drags the rag doll around the corner, leaving a crimson trail that did not ensure any hope of escape. Following is a messy, gut-turning sound of eating and muffled dying cries, crunching, with small scraps of the bloodied rags and unknown wet material fluttering around the corner. The shadow of the creature the Nowhere Man named “Chuckles” lengthened, the heavy footsteps makes the ground shudder, the rattle of chains becoming louder and echoing along the hall. After indulging in a small snack, Chuckles finally makes its appearance, taking the sharp turn of the corner. It is a massive creature, more height to it than girth but the breathing narrowness of the tunnels leave only a tight squeeze on either side of the creature. It towers over the boy, its bald head scrapes the top of the tunnel often enough that it has a visible callous. The features are grotesque; pallid and wrinkled skin, small beady eyes and a wide, wide grin filled with point-filed, blood-stained teeth. Its arms too long for its body, long hands fitted with claws. It wears a dark complex robe of chains and worn belts of what appeared to be skin - human or animal, it was not known from a single glance. There are broken, heavy chains on its wrists and ankles but it did not seem to impede its movement too much. The dark eyes fall upon the boy and its chapped bloody lips pull back into a mad grin - a new snack! It smacks the wall with the claws leaving deep marks, a show of it’s strength despite his gaunt form. “Don’t linger too long, Mazohyst.” The Nowhere Man warns in a sing-song voice. Though he was nowhere to be seen, one can be sure he was watching, intent on enjoying this spectacle of wits against the monster around the corner. But not without a little taunting. “If you’re certain that she is present in my playground...best not to leave her to my clutches too long, eh?” The three ways the boy could take remain open - the masked demon was not one to stoop to locking out possible ways out, all rookie moves that spelled doom for the secondary antagonist. He wanted to see what Mazohyst would do, if the boy would be good on his word and kill the monster. The monster slams its arm against the wall again, causing it to crumble into a large, misshapen boulder - obviously ammunition. It grabs the boulders with its long arms and chucks it at Mazohyst. |

"And that's why I can respect a mortal of your caliber. You are not guided by excess of pride or primal fear - you do as you please even in my own tapestry of madness." Mazo smirked at the chaotic demon's choice of words. The teenager clearly had no excess of hubris or terror instilled in him. Arrogance only leads to shame and tragedy, one of the reasons Mazo had chosen to take a different path then Akai. His power and valor are indeed admirable but his constantly confident nature...not as much, at least now to the ebon-haired teenager. The teenager had slain too many people burdened by their arrogance, he too had been put down due to such sensations. As for primal fear? Mazo understood fear. Those that instill fear in others are the ones who understand fear most. At least, that's what he had come to believe and accept as truth. Because he could instill fear he understood it, because he understood it he could overcome it. It was rare that Mazohyst's decisions were guided by pride and primal fear. "Those that instill fear understand it most, Nowhere Man." He replied. "Because we instill it, we understand it. Because we understand it we overcome it. Though, I recall you saying that you have tossed aside your emotions, your fears, aside like a ragdoll. Perhaps I'll do the same some day." The teenager's tone is abnormably dry, there is no hint of humor or sarcasm. It would be difficult to tell whether or not Mazo is serious or not. Although, the thought of casting aside emotions certainly would be...useful in a way. The doll sprawled out on the floor moves slowly towards him. This creature obviously knew pain, it knew fear. Why else was it reaching out for him, warning him? Mazo, however, does not heed it's warning. Instead, he looked sternly upon it and shook his head. Before Mazo could do any more the doll is is taken. A long metallic claw is briefly seen before it impales and drags the unfortunate doll. The teenager knows it is doomed, he makes no movements. A shadow extends, it's appearance distorted and hellish. The ground shakes, the rattling of chains is heard becoming louder and louder with each movement. The entity reveals itself in all of it's grotestque and inhumanly nature. It's disgusting - no, it's absolutely horrid. However, Mazo thought that the flesh-golem he had previously encountered was far more vile and disgusting. This creature undoubtedly smelled terrible but the golem reeked of rot and death itself. Still, this one would nevertheless be dangerous. “If you’re certain that she is present in my playground...best not to leave her to my clutches too long, eh?” "I'll try not to enjoy this too much." The monster suddenly slams against the wall before tossing a large boulder towards him. Obviously, the violet-eyed teenager had no intentions to stay put. He gripped his sword and rolled to the side effortlessly. As soon as he finished the evasive manuever he stood, sword held at his side. The cigarette in his mouth was still lit. He takes a deep drag then exhales it through his mouth. The smoke clears, revealing Mazo's left hand balled into a fist. Except for well a single defiant finger - his middle finger was raised insultingly towards the monstrous creature before him. Mazo's hand retreated back only to be suddenly thrust forward later. Before it was thrust outwards again Mazo had quickly generated energy into his hand. He could feel the energy within him, it flowed like blood in his veins, unholy power in the palm of his hand. Mazo thrust his hand outward, a bolt of violet-colored energy was sent through the air towards the monster's solar plexis (assuming it actually had a solar plexis). Mazo didn't want to make any unnecessary movements at the start of the battle. He wasn't aware of this creature's abilities just yet. From what he could tell it obviously posessed gargantuan strength, not to mention those claws it had. The teenager wanted to draw out any special powers or abilities it had. The sooner they are revealed the sooner Mazo would develop a counter. |

"Those that instill fear understand it most, Nowhere Man." The boy replies. His tone captures the demon's attention even when not present. "Because we instill it, we understand it. Because we understand it we overcome it. Though, I recall you saying that you have tossed aside your emotions, your fears, aside like a ragdoll. Perhaps I'll do the same some day." That would be quite the occasion. There is a cackle ebbing between echoing within the mind and bouncing off the bloodstained stone walls. A wise mortal this boy was; the demon knew it from the moment he intruded upon their conversation the first time, luring him and the nephlet to his playground in a condemned building. Cast off the chains that make mortals weak! Imagine the insane smile that crossed the masked man's face, entertaining the idea. There was still the "problem" but the demon paid it no mind for now - things fall into place deliciously after all and if not, he truly not minded creating the path most mortals would dare not seek. Do enjoy this to the fullest, Nanatsu. I'm certain that what lies in you yearns the chance to shed blood. The monster meanwhile seemed displeased that his new prey had more overall spirit as opposed to the earlier meals. They were weak, guided only by raw fear and the deluded hopes of escape; they were much more tender that way. The boy evaded the boulder he threw with a single roll. With a little more light to the creature, its arms appear to be a bizarre combination of machine and organic form. It had the appearance of complex machinery, but if one were to touch, it would probably have the cold, meaty feel of skin. The tunnel continues to breathe of it’s own accord, expanding and narrowing in erratic intervals. Anything to make fighting all the difficult for both sides, it's chaos! Then the boy attacks, a strike of violet energy drove into the creature’s solar plexis, singeing the ragged robes. The beast howls in pain and frustration, banging the walls with clenched fists in a thunderous hissy fit. It may have the mind set of a child who had dropped its candy, but the sudden glare from it’s beady eyes revealed something much less childish. It’s grin is wide, inhumanly wide and its blood-soaked points of teeth glimmered in what’s left of the jittering lights. The creature lumbers first then begins to pick up speed, barreling towards the boy and aiming to ram his next meal with its meaty, bio-metal shoulder. |

That would be quite the occasion. The demon cackles, it echoes throughout his mind and within the crimson-coated stone walls. In response, his lips curl into a slight smile. Mazohyst smirks softly and shifts his weight from one leg to the other. No longer being able to feel...? Such a concept is highly tempting to Mazohyst, and it's not for a lame reason such as being removing emotional pain. No, if he ever did do so it would be in an attempt to gain more power. While not completely human, he is mortal, and all mortals are susceptible to greed and avarice. Mazo's greed is hardly focused on money or material posessions, power on the other hand... He shook the thought out of his head. There would be a better time and place to mull that over, as Mazohyst had more important matters to take care of. Do enjoy this to the fullest, Nanatsu. I'm certain that what lies in you yearns the chance to shed blood. Mazohyst's violet-eyes widen slightly at the creature as it steps a little more into the light. It's composition was truly bizarre, it was neither completely machine or organic. Rather, it seemed to be a disturbing combination of the two. The tunnel continues to pulsate and breathe. Mazo observed it, he put it's pattern into memory. The strange environment could prove useful to him, he thought, as long as he understood it well enough. His attack on the creature seemed rather effective. It's pained howls were loud, as were it's thunderous flailing. The beast was child-like, that could prove useful. It obviously didn't seem too intelligent. Though, it certainly is still dangerous and definitely hungry. This was made clear by it's impossibly wide blood-soaked grin. The creature approaches him, slowly at first and then at a dangerously fast speed. With it's shoulder out and the speed it was moving at Mazo figured that it would likely attempt to ram him. The teenager refused to be hit by such a basic attack. He matched the creature's speed and movements. He moved slowly at first but rapidly picked up speed. Eventually they came dangerously close. He slid beneath the creature's legs, his blade was raised so that the hook-like part would tear and rip at the creature's groin. Mazohyst slid past it and quickly rolled back to his feet. He fired off another bolt of violet-energy at the creature's back before he moved in for a diagonal slash at the monster's back. |

The snack demonstrated that it was not to be toyed with so easily. The beast knew full well and was far from willing to let this one leave. It thunders down the breathing tunnel with the full intent to smash him into the wall - a hard hit that pulverized the bones of an ordinary human. But then the morsel moves as well, he -BZZT- [We now interrupt your current program for this bulletin.] The Nowhere Man watched from some unknown pocket of his own playground, an abstract place where only two other souls could intrude. While he watched the battle unfold, the pair approached him and silently looked over the battle. Here, the boy could be separated and unable to hear their exchange. All the better, the Nowhere Man enjoyed unveiling shrouds in a grand fashion. "Have you told him?" A calmed, scrutinizing voice. "Psshh. It'll come up. You know how I thrive on reaction!" "Right. Just to let you know, there was an attempt of intrusion. It was not she. This was one of holy alignment." "Oh-ho? How FUN! It's been a long time since we had one of those intrude a game of mine. Meriham dear." He turns to the other, caressing her pale cheek. "Take care of that. I want my game to continue." "Yes." Then both had vanished, the other wanting to keep an extra eye on his young partner. [Now back to your originally scheduled program.] -BZZT- --slides and vanished beneath him. The hook of his sword scratches and sparks along the bio-mechanical skin, fortunately for the creature it was more mechanical than organic. Despite the pain, the creature does not stop, having to arc and smash into the wall to stop himself. The wall does not survive, crumbling at the massive force, and revealing a pair of decaying bodies lodged in the cement. Obvious stretches of flesh were missing and whomever they were alive, the frozen horror and anguish on their face spoke volumes to the nature of their death. Ah, the typical decor of a cannibalistic madman; the building is made out of PEOPLE! The creature’s pain did not end with the wall, a searing bolt of lightning fries and burns the more conductive metal extremities on his body. Now if this was simply any typical brainless abomination, Mazohyst’s coming slash to his back would have come easy. All it took was the masked man’s voice invading the halls, his mind - Oh, come now. Are you really gonna let that brat rob you of what’s yours again? And the creature reacts as quickly as Mazohyst had. With lightning from the boy’s previous attack still crackling in the mechanical grooves of his body, the monster turns to the boy and makes a wide, hard swipe at the boy. New life flared behind the monster’s eyes. In fact, upon closer inspection, the left eye has a cataract. Even stranger, the condensation from the walls, from the blood of the doll all began to gather. Now Mazohyst, you know well my habit for...surprises. I assure you, this one is just as interesting. The mass of moisture moves with surreal silence and forms a bluish tint as they near the monster. The creature has no need to look in the direction. Its face contorts into an expression of utter fury, utter contempt and the creature swipes his arm to the other direction as if to beckon something to join them. "You're bright. I'll leave it for you to see! Kekekekeke..." If only it was another monster, another abomination of hell dripping with pus and growling in hunger. The large glob of collected moisture expanded and formed into a wave of needles. Hundreds and hundreds of needles, sharp points gleaming in what little light were present. And it was all for Mazohyst to enjoy. |

His attack was successful and did not require too much expenditure of energy and effort. By relying and using his enemy's forward momentum, matching that momentum, then simultaneously evading and striking at an opening the chances of his attack's success was considerably high. The proof of its success was the sparks and scratches etched onto the bio-mechanical skin. Though the strike was neither a critical nor decisive one it didn't do much damage itself, however the creature was unable to slow itself down, its almost unstoppable forward momentum had caused it to smash through a wall which was revealed to be composed of concrete and death. "How fitting for a madman," Mazohyst nods to himself. He hadn't expected any less of the masked, chaotic demon. Although, Mazo admittedly had an image of Nowhere Man living in some kind of rainbow castle of death, just to see how he would react. A rainbow castle of death would certainly be creepy enough though, just in a different way. At any rate, Mazohyst had approached for another assault. He had made a quick dash towards his enemy's back, his sword was clutched in his hands as he swung diagonally. However, before the violet-eyed teenager could complete the strike he found himself distracted by a madman's voice. Oh, come now. Are you really gonna let that brat rob you of what’s yours again? "What're you talking a-" Before he could finish his sentence and his strike he was sent flying backwards with a viscious wide swing. It wasn't a direct hit, Mazohyst had managed to block it with his sword well enough. However, the sheer power behind the attack was just too much. He flew until he had hit a wall, rather hard I might add. The impact caused a thud and the already dilapidated wall had further cracked as soon as he had hit it, revealing faces frozen with terror and absolute despair. Mazo's eyes, however, were not focused on a face of despair but now eyes seemingly of determination, rage, and somehow - life. Mazo pushed himself off the cracked wall. As he stood, a chilled corpse had shifted behind him. It was definitely not alive, however it had probably saved Mazo's life. He seemed to hit the corpse instead of directly hitting solid concrete, which would have likely incapictated him. His eyes focused momentarily on the face of utter fury and contempt. Although, his gaze had shifted towards the strange mass of moisture and condensation. Mazohyst had seen water-based abilities before; they tend to be incredibly versatile, powerful, and precise. However, they can serve as an advancing wall of death and despair. Mazo knew that well. As did his opponent. A wave of hundreds upon hundreds of sharp, glimmering needles were formed and then launched towards Mazohyst with fierce intent. Had there been sunlight in the sparingly-lit area the water-based needles would have likely formed some kind of bright rainbow. It was clear though that this place would never be one of sunshine and rainbows. It's just the opposite. Mazo retreated back towards the concrete wall that he had been launched towards. With the hook of his sword, Mazohyst had forcibly pryed concrete and corpses out. He fired a bolt of violet-energy at the hole in the wall then pulled down, opening the hole so that it would become barely man-sized. Mazohyst dove inside for cover, using rubble, concrete, and a cold corpse for cover. The thin needles would have worked well against flesh; however against hard, inorganic concrete they weren't exactly effective. As soon as the wave of needles had ended Mazohyst opened up with a surprise attack. The teenager had recalled the location of the creature before Mazo had hidden himself. He pinpointed, or rather he guessed, where it was and charged energy into his hand. A bolt of violet-energy pierced through the concrete from the inside-out and then towards a straight-line where Mazo had assummed the hideous being was located. The wall further weakened and cracked by the energy attack, Mazo shoved a frozen corpse through the wall, causing it to crumble as the teenager appeared. Coincidentally, he was standing atop the corpse he had pushed over. Though, it would have been more triumphant if he hadn't been covered in dust. Plus, there was the fact that there was a cold, severed hand upon his shoulder. How it got there, the teenager wasn't sure, but he pushed it aside and sent another blast of energy towards his opponent, only this time it was guided by sight rather than intuition. |

Bull’s-eye. The boy was able to block the monster’s swing, but unable to match the sheer power behind it. The minor distraction from the Nowhere Man’s meddling helped the situation, something that may have delighted the masked demon. It was his way as the wild card. Mazo hits the wall with an audible thud and cracked the wall, revealing the Nowhere Man’s treats. The more pompous and cocky demons below his stature would be certain that this was a critical hit, zeroing in on certain victory. The Nowhere Man knew better than most of the lower demons - this boy was built for this kind of physical beating. Indeed the wall and it’s dead denizens saved Mazohyst from more serious damage, its ribs and limbs visibly cracked from the impact. How ironic, how fortunate that a human served more purpose to the boy dead than it ever could have alive. The monster’s wave of needles did little to dampen (HAHA!) the boy’s spirits, Mazohyst found use for the cracked wall to save himself from becoming a human pincushion. They bounced harmlessly off the concrete wall and condensed back into a growing, moving cerulean puddle, slithering back to its monster of a master. The abomination had little time to form another attack, the morsel using the element of surprise to launch another bolt of lightning towards the creature. The crackle of electricity conducted through the metallic parts, burning and singeing the skin, launching the creature into a loud, anguished roar. The weakened wall crumbles from successive stimuli, Mazohyst falls out atop one of the bodies along with large cloud of dust. 8.5 for style, but could do without dust cloud. The creature glares through it’s pain, fuming that this morsel could simply not stay down...or maybe it was something deeper than what it’s bruising skin is able to convey. As if responding to his fury, the blue mass of condensation gathered shot up right in front of the creature, becoming a large metal spike surpassing its height by a few centimeter. Yes, it became a lightning rod to take Mazo’s attack instead, the spike crackled with violet lighting before becoming liquid form again. “Isn’t it fun to play with old friends again?” The Nowhere Man’s voice became tangible again, echoing off the walls. Follow the cackles of glee and one will find that to the immediate straight tunnel of green light - there he would loom atop the crumbled staircase, watching with his the hollowed mask of his eyes and the bleeding grin. The green club over the right eye becomes eerily saturated by the similarly colored light. In his hand, there appeared to be something in his hand; a hunk of skin dripping blood, attached to a long lock of hair twirled around the demon’s fingers. Never mind him, he’s simply here to watch from a distance. The monster pays little mind to the Nowhere Man, far too focused on this opponent. The pain from Mazoyst’s last bolt of violet electricity More condensation from farther down the tunnels begin to draw near, but until they joined the current pool of sentient condensation, it had enough to work with. The puddle splits into two and the monster thrusts it’s palm into the puddle. The first puddle formed into a ridiculously over-sized hammer gleaming like fresh polished silver. It was made for one thing - massive ridiculous damage! And then even stranger as from the creature’s clouded eye dribbled a huge tears of blue tinged fluid, plopping heavily into the second puddle. The puddle warbled in a way that resembled gel more than liquid and expanded twice its previous size. Without the need for a verbal command from its hulking master began a mad rush towards Mazohyst. If it cannot impale him, it could certainly attempt to distract him, trap him, drown him in its gel like viscosity. Following in the wave's wake, the hulking bio-mechanical monster, reared up to swing the massive hammer at Mazohyst, whether or not the second puddle traps him. The rage in its eyes began to boil over, take a guess as to who could be urging, tempting, pushing him to destroy this opponent morsel of his. His eyes are apparent, the trace of blue liquid streaks its twisted face. |

8.5 for style, but could do without dust cloud. Mazohyst cracked a smile, laughing slightly even. "I've got to agree with you there," He says as he cracks his neck and rolls his shoulders, each movement creating an audible snap. The teenager impales his blade into the ground and wipes the dust off his hair and face, though he later flexes his muscles, causing energy to flow throughout his body. Violet-colored bands of electricity arc and spark around him, clearing the dust off his body. The dust came off his body and circled through the air in the form of small dust clouds, though they quickly settled. "But, I've never been the type to worry needlessly over trifling matters such as style." The teenager watched as the creature used its control over liquid to create a large spike of sorts. A lightning rod? How familiar; but where had he seen this before? "Impressive," He whistled sharply. “Isn’t it fun to play with old friends again?” "I apologize, my memory's a little fuzzy. I may have killed too many people to be able to distinguish who is who at this point." He says with pure and utter seriousness. He pays no mind to Nowhere Man as he becomes tangible again. Though, Mazo still sees him and acknowledges his presence thanks to the enhanced range of sight granted to him by his Mind's Eye. The teenager removed his blade from the ground with a quick tug, his violet eyes still focused intently on massive hulking monster before him. Mazo considered firing off another bolt of energy at the beast but considering how easily it had been neutralized he wasn't so sure it would be a wise decision. The teenager usually is not the type to let emotion or impulse get in the way of getting the job done. His eyes widened as the creature formed a hammer of ridiculous size. A direct hit from that would definitely crush his bones and organs in one swing. Plus, there was the matter of that strange gel-like substance it had formed with the other half of the puddle. Death by concussive force or drowning? "Neither." The creature began to make a mad rush towards him. The hulking abomination had decent enough acceleration and could reach impressive speeds using its momentum, however that meant that it had absolutely horrendous manueverability and turning speed. Mazohyst would be the exact opposite here, and he'd have to use that to his advantage again. That, of course, and a little unpredictability thrown into the mix. The teenager is definitely not a one-trick pony. Mazohyst began to sprint far and away from the beast towards one of the corners of the room. However, he suddenly manuevered and turned by thrusting his sword into the ground and using it as a pivot. The action caused him to launch himself forward towards one of the concrete walls. Violet-energy sparked from his body to his sword and he launched it rather high into the wall. Mazohyst leaned forward and grabbed the handle of the blade then used his forward momentum to spin and flip off the handle and land onto the flat surface of his sword. Now in the beast's blind spot, the dark-haired teenager launched two precise bolts of energy aimed at the creature's right eye. Then, unwilling to stay stationary for too long, he leapt off the flat surface of his blade, pulling it out of the wall as he moved downward towards the ground. Mazohyst made another quick sprint towards the creature's other side and shot another precise bolt of energy, again towards the creature's right eye. Of course, this was still extremely difficult considering that he had to make wide turns to stay the hell away from a) the hulking abomination itself, B ) the massive hammer, and c) the giant puddle, all of which could very well kill him in a single hit. "If you're going to try and kill me then don't let your half-hearted emotions get in the way," He said, firing one more bolt aimed at the exact same location as before. Mazo's goal was clear - to blind the creature, if not then just blow its brains out straight through the eye socket. Cruel and efficient, but that's just how Mazo's mind works. |
