The entire time from leaving 'Maya-chan's English classroom, passing down hallways to find the ever-moving teachers lounge, Mai had kept up the most one-sided chat of various topics mashed together by one leading to another. The lounge that could appear of its own volition kept away pesky, nosy students and provided a suitable environment for the teachers to unwind and plan out their next classes. Maybe gossip if they were so inclined to. Mai was chatting up a storm, as usual, and it really did not matter if Kudo responded or not. “Oh and my ninth grade lovelies are so cute! <3 Maybe one or two are inclined to get uppity, but I doubt they wold be problematic for you. Oh and I saw your funny little male admirer, he’s so fun! He must be yearning, longing to see you!” The two women enter the teacher’s lounge, greeted with the high ceilings and crisp filtered air. The four various picture frames crackle and displayed odd scenery. The long cherry wood table centering the room had just been cleaned - the Cleaning Squad had been present recently. Mai plops and spins in her favorite chair at the table. A deluxe coffee machine rested atop one of the counters, filled with coffee that was probably a few hours old. The double doors to the west were open leading just so that they can wander and watch the lovely overlooking scene of autumn. The majority of the trees had begun to change in an amazing array of reds, golds, oranges and whatever green color some leaves tried to hold on to, refusing to let go of their verdant color. “I heard you had some troublemakers. Hessel-san, right?” |

For the most part, Amaya did her best to block out the incredibly one sided conversation. It was like Kudo had hidden herself behind a wall, and Mai was beating it down with a sledge hammer. But being that this kind of thing happened often, where Mai would run her sentences together and practically forget to breathe, Amaya could be unfortunate to say she was used to it. “I saw your funny little male admirer, he’s so fun! He must be yearning, longing to see you!” Obviously, it irked something in her; her eyebrow twitched, lips pressed together into a hard line. And they enter the teacher's lounge, where Mai proceeded to sit in her respective chair and spin a few times. Again, not odd, but the norm. “I heard you had some troublemakers. Hessel-san, right?” Kudo passed my the table, and her chair beside Mai towards the cupboards where everything was kept. She turned, leaning against the counter to look to her coworker. "Some students have no concept of respect. I was sure such an issue would not arise with any of the Juniors. I was wrong. And not just him; one student was late." She explained, her arms folding as her head tilted slightly, motioning to the cabinets behind her. "What do you want?" |

Ah the many facets of their strange friendship! Mai took many chances to poke fun of her friend simply for her reaction. Subtle and subdued, but those could be considered the best. Mentioning a certain "favorite student" or "super admirer" brings out the best reactions in 'Maya-chan that it was worth risking to be choked out. The other faculty had their share of picking on Kudo for her...supposed states, but only Mai could get away with a lot more. "Some students have no concept of respect. I was sure such an issue would not arise with any of the Juniors. I was wrong. And not just him; one student was late." Mai's jaw drops in surprise. A late one AND a troublemaker? Hessel-san was someone to watch for, his carefree attitude was liable to crash with Kudo's strict and orderly ways. The late student, whomever he was, was asking for one hell of a death wish - even Mai knew better! "My my! I'm surprised the late student still have all his limbs and skin. Oh, oh!" Mai reaches to her rolling backpack, rustling through for her folder of her 9th grade students. "I have a trouble student of my own!" "What do you want?" Mai pauses her line of thinking and cheerfully waves her hand to Amaya. "Surprise me. I will take anything as long as I have the caffeine. I know it's an addiction, but it's a necessary evil." Her bespectacled eyes drop to her folder, searching for the name she wanted. "My trouble student is Reggie Duncan, he transferred from a private academy and has quite a bad attitude. He said I was sloppy and suggested a syllabus, can you believe the nerve of him?!" |

"Surprise me. I will take anything as long as I have the caffeine. I know it's an addiction, but it's a necessary evil." How it annoyed Amaya Kudo that the woman could not give her a straight answer. It was a kind of annoyance that seemed somewhat similar to having the hair on the back of one's neck pulled. A pinch of pain, laced with irritation but it fades as quickly as it appears. She opened the overhead cupboard doors, searching through as she listened to her co worker go on about the troubles that revolved around a particular student. "My trouble student is Reggie Duncan, he transferred from a private academy and has quite a bad attitude. He said I was sloppy and suggested a syllabus, can you believe the nerve of him?!" "I'm fairly certain we came to the conclusion that he would be quite troublesome before these classes even began. You can sense the attitude from a mile away. I dread the afternoon's class with them." She explained. Of course she was dreading it. Nothing piled on stress like the youngest of them all. They all had their generic attitudes, of course. The older students were almost expected to assume their background knowledge would make them better than the rest, the Sophomores would act as though what knowledge they were trying to teach would be pointless for their lives, and the youngest group. Oh, the youngest group. They would be far too excited to focus on what was around them, and lack the appropriate life lessons to understand the true meaning of respect. Of course, Kudo didn't bother explaining it all. Not again. Mai already knew the way she felt in that regard; saying it all again would simply be reiterating an argument for the sake of reitarating it. She kept herself busy before the coffee machine, finding the appropriate mug and remembering Mai's addiction to caffine. Extra strength for obvious reasons, but a little white chocolate syrup because the woman loves sweet things, and the counter balance between the almost bitter taste and the sweetness was something she might enjoy. Not that she cared as to whether or not she liked it. Without specifying, she may as well hate it. Amaya placed the mug before Mai, before turning back to make her own coffee. "Go ahead and ask; you know you're dying to say something." She could almost sense the mountain of questions about the winged girl Mai probably had for her. Best to get it out of the way; kick the jokes aside while she had them fresh in her memory. |

"I'm fairly certain we came to the conclusion that he would be quite troublesome before these classes even began." "We did?" As if Mai would remember, given her short attention span AND her lingering thoughts of Shalamar there was little chance for that happening. "You can sense the attitude from a mile away. I dread the afternoon's class with them." Ah, that was right! Stein now had that group at the moment, scaring them in God knows how many ways as he would usually do. She still remembered the first classes he held. Mai, having the class directly after his, could remember frightened stares of the younger students. But then who knows, maybe a handful of these round of munchkins would be a little braver. And the 10th graders, Ousen had them engaged in some sort of game. "You'll do fine, 'Maya-chan. You'll probably get even MORE secret student admirers!" Amaya had to set the mug before her and almost all thought flew out the window, her brown eyes shining behind her glasses. The arabica sown bitterness and the scent of white chocolate intertwined to create an almost wintery smell. Worked well enough for Mai and she could take a huge gulp down before her friend would make her own coffee. "Go ahead and ask; you know you're dying to say something." Amaya did not even have to turn to feel the grin coming from Mai. She actually held back a lot more than she had earlier - she knew better than to do anything lest the students would not perceive her as the threat she was. That and 'Maya-chan would choke her out if she did anything of the sort. led the floodgates OPEN!<3 "Well~" Mai links her hands together under her chin. "I couldn't help but notice she was in the front row ri~ight where you can keep watch on her. BUT, you said it was luck of the draw. Given that she happens to be your favorite student Was that REALLY the luck of the draw that she's seated in your line of sight?" |

"Well~" Kudo was already regretting saying anything about it, given Mai's tone in that single word. She was sure to turn around and find her grinning with conspiracies and obvious humour. "I couldn't help but notice she was in the front row ri~ight where you can keep watch on her. BUT, you said it was luck of the draw. Given that she happens to be your favorite student Was that REALLY the luck of the draw that she's seated in your line of sight?" "You do realise my range of vision stretches past a few feet, don't you? I can easily keep watch on all of them from where they sit. I'm afraid I don't fully understand what that has to do with the idea floating in that deranged head of yours." It was not like Amaya to get on the defensive; if it weren't for the fact that she couldn't avoid this topic day after day she would easily avoid it. She turned, coffee in hand and took her seat at the table. "I set out to ensure that none of the students were sitting with any of the people they wanted to secure their focus to their studies. Can you understand that?" Of course not. |

"You do realise my range of vision stretches past a few feet, don't you? I can easily keep watch on all of them from where they sit. I'm afraid I don't fully understand what that has to do with the idea floating in that deranged head of yours." “And Lloyd’s. And maybe Kenny’s.” Mai purposely mumbles cheerfully under her breath. The former was a fan of the whole idea of “shipping” and ‘Maya should be fortunate that she did not hear Stein’s theories on what happened in the caves. Nothing did, Mai believed her friend, but it was hard to entertain that something did not happen over something that could have. Besides, she found Amaya’s reactions positively endearing, even if it risked bodily injury. "I set out to ensure that none of the students were sitting with any of the people they wanted to secure their focus to their studies. Can you understand that?" Mai could not help but burst into caffeine-drenched giggles. She had to when she faced any situation, smile and laugh. It may come off as Mai being completely air-headed at times, especially juxtaposed with Amaya’s level-headed cool. “You're just so fun to tease, 'Maya chan. I won’t knock your methods. I can admit that it would be cause for better interactions with other students if group-work is called for and less disturbances if circles are broken. You inspire enough fear to keep them in place, so I consider the seating chart overkill. But that’s just me~” As if it had to be said. The two women had very different approaches to teaching, and they could agree to disagree. But the teasing was a different fun matter entirely. “But you have to admit," Mai says with a big bright grin. "Having her there does not help your whole shipping case. <3" |

“And Lloyd’s. And maybe Kenny’s.” That was surely something to be mortified over. What little Amaya knew of the Science Teacher was what she had seen and heard. The idea that these deranged thoughts were in his head as well was terrifying. God knows what he thinks when he gets the time. “You're just so fun to tease, 'Maya chan. I won’t knock your methods. I can admit that it would be cause for better interactions with other students if group-work is called for and less disturbances if circles are broken. You inspire enough fear to keep them in place, so I consider the seating chart overkill. But that’s just me~” As Amaya listens to the way her coworker expresses her opinions, the corners of her mouth turn dornwards into an unimpressed frown. "Yes, I'm sure your method of disiplinless practice is quite effective when teaching. We shall see the fruits of your lack-of-labour once they're put to a genuine task." She explained, turning her attention momentarily to the coffee cup within her hand. “But you have to admit, Having her there does not help your whole shipping case. <3" "How fortunate, then, that there is no case to plea against." Amaya said, with a ring of ice circling her tone, though this particular sentence was also laced with her usual brand of sarcasm. "And what of you? I get the strange feeling of jealousy on this subject." |

"Yes, I'm sure your method of disiplinless practice is quite effective when teaching. We shall see the fruits of your lack-of-labour once they're put to a genuine task." Ooh was that a bet of sorts? YAY! Mai had more than enough faith for her little ones as Mai has the tendency to plan based on student personality. With maybe a few exceptions in each class, she was certain that her methods would allow the class to flower. Just as she had said, they shall see. "How fortunate, then, that there is no case to plea against." ‘Maya-chan says with her ever sarcastic tone. Mai wanted to giggle, there was certainly was a case considering all the UST that surrounded her and that particular student. Jesse-san had quite the mountain to climb to win ‘Maya-chan’s cold and harsh heart - it was all like a soap opera complete with love dodecahedrons! Mai loved the comicalness of it all. "And what of you? I get the strange feeling of jealousy on this subject." If Mai could, her form would have turned to stone with cracks. Jealousy? A small pout crosses her face. Yeah, of course, she always wanted a crazy student admirer merely for the idealistic fun of it. It was one of those funny things that happen in romantic comedy shows set in high school, right? “Well~ ‘Maya-chan is so scary and yet you still can make a harem out of the delusional students who wish to melt your icy heart with their pure love. And yet...” No matter what fun having a student admirer could be, no student in the world could compare to the one that captured her heart...and it was then Amaya (maybe inadvertently) brought up the one weakness, a crack in Mai’s sunny disposition. “And yet nice and sweet little me can’t even get my one true love to confess his absolute love for me! It’s so painfully obvious that Erik-kun and I were meant to be, to fated to be together and yet he won’t even acknowledge the thick air of romantic tension between us! Oh it’s so unfair! <3” In her comically exaggerated despair, Mai’s forehead hits the solid wood table with a loud thwack. Not a restrained thump either, something she seemed to regret dong a second later - even if it stopped Mai’s tirade. “...Ow~” |

“Well~ ‘Maya-chan is so scary and yet you still can make a harem out of the delusional students who wish to melt your icy heart with their pure love. And yet...” Amaya made a point to cough lightly, trying to catch Mai's attention long enough for her to see the daggers she was shooting with those piercing eyes. Melt her heart? Please. Nevertheless, the way Mai drifted off suddenly (yet obviously) made Amaya regret the question all together. Nothing made that look appear on her face like the thought of her deluded interest in a certain Shalamar. <3” It is rare for Kudo to ever find amusement in something. Openly, anyway. Of course things entertain her; delusions of grandeur and other silly things like hope and untactful thinking were quite comical to the cold woman. And yet this, this conversation, this which Mai had said had actually caused her to utter a light chuckle. It was one she quickly hid behind a coffee mug until she could stifle it. “...Ow~” Once more she laughs, though this time a little more opening. The sound is haunting, if only because it is rarely ever heard. "I have hope for you." She raised the coffee mug towards her quickly before taking a sew sips and placing it back down on the table. |
