The wind is cold; a crisp night. Or early morning. Diamonds in the velvet sky are covered by clouds. Even moonlight struggles to pierce through the slow drifting shadows. There is light, then it is taken, then restored once more. Like paint, the light seeps into cracked granite stones, following breaks as if they were a guiding lifelines. All the stones. Side by side. Body next to body, next to body. "All in pretty rows." On crushing grass she sat cross legged, violet eyes sending attention to the moon in the form of a glance. A slight tilt of her head, long dark hair fell forward, waves cascading over a pale, exposed shoulder- A torn off sleeve. There they are. Two warm, still bodies. Their names, faces, lives- They weren't important. But they were gone now. But what now... She found her Aeon, retrieving it from her pocket, pressed a few buttons and held it to her ear. Ringing, ringing. Pick up. "I'm sorry; could you please come find me?" Smile. "Thank you." |

Moments before, Amber had been staring at the ceiling. Her eyes were heavy with the lack of sleep, and she had that strange sensation that washed over in waves. Restless nights were the worst, when all that occupies the mind are long winded narratives about death and life while in sleep. Or the maddening thoughts of chaotic beings stalking loved ones, or hearing the chorus of voices that cried for intervention. It had been getting worse, much worse and there was little Amber could do to stop it. Instead her mind and hands were idle, playing with her striped thigh high stockings, losing herself in a Junji Ito manga, playing with more functions on the Aeon. But the night is longer than it seems in sleep. Without the time travel, hours dragged and stretched and minutes slow to a halt. And then her Aeon sprang to life, alerting her with an incoming call. Sorry, but come find her. "Of course." Amber was quick to dress, her sleep shirt was a Putamayo tank-dress, black with pink butterflies. Slipping on a black and pink skirt underneath served enough to be a dress for outing. A quick brush of her hair, boots and a slip of a hooded black jacket. The Aeon did the rest for her, picked up the trace signal of the call and transported her there. The moon hung over the sky casting long shadows of headstones. She did not have to walk far or wander to find her. Her dark eyes fall to the bodies, all i pretty rows. Does she wonder who they are? What kind of lives they lived? If she wondered, Amber was not one to speak her mind of the handiwork of others. The winged girl’s wings flapped once and folded close to her body. She smiles, never minding how tired she felt. “I couldn't sleep. Are you hurt?" |

“I couldn't sleep. Are you hurt?" "It was self defense, if you can believe it." Two males; a slit throat and a knife to the side of the neck for two quick deaths. A mess, of course, and yet the grass remained untainted. As did the stones; she hadn't wanted to disrespect anyone anymore than she most likely had. Another had gotten away, it seemed, but Emerald didn't seem to mind it all that much. They were innocent. Self defense. It hardly ever seemed to be something she felt the need to kill by. A heavy sigh from her lips as she looked back down towards the bodies, dipped in blood and yet she seemed spotless. "I'm sorry again. I didn't know who else would answer. Did I wake you?" She had asked, but she was sure it was a question that wouldn't really receive an answer. Onto giving some of her own. "I'm alright." Pause. "Does it make it right, if it's in the name of good?" Emerald asked, a dull tone left her feelings on the subject undetectable. Killing was killing, was it not? If one had the power and strength to do it, did that not make them the textbook definition of bad, simply because what they were doing in most contexts was, indeed, bad? What mind drabble. |

Self defense, clean cuts, blood on all but the grass. Amber could never cease to be amazed by her friend’s handiwork, her ventures always ended rather bloody and messy. Suppose maybe it was intent, or the feeling behind it, hard to explain but making perfect sense in her head. She kneels to get a closer look at the corpses. "I'm sorry again. I didn't know who else would answer. Did I wake you?" A shake of the angelic girl’s head. Like she had said upon her arrival, she could not sleep. Her mind continued to carry on, the voices and words culminating and keeping her from valuable sleep. She’s used to it, otherwise she would have never come on Emmy’s request. “Don't worry. I’m glad you’re alright.” A point to the torn sleeve. “I can fix that for you later if you want.” Pause, heavy with thought on one side while the other could only wonder. Amber was to one to ask, things tend to happen this way more often than not and she had become quite used to it. "Does it make it right, if it's in the name of good?" A tilt of her head in thought. The question fell under subjects she knew well but under circumstances were difficult to talk about. It had only taken a moment of her time to think about it, bypassing all the sounds in her mind, clamoring to be heard. “I was raised to believe it was wrong no matter what...but then one considers the selfish, petty or passionate reasons people kill one another. And what of those that killed to save the life of another, or self defense that leads to a death, or the deaths that occur in war. Those people are viewed differently. Heroes who did the right thing.” Pause, that was the general aspect, not her own views. The winged girl sigh is soft. “I, personally, see it’s right with the intention of good is there. Others would disagree, but that's how I feel about it.” An aversion of her gaze, as if following an imaginary line of thought. “But it starts to become clouded when intentions are replaced...it feels wrong, but then I wonder why it feels right too.” The most honest answer to a question; she had no reason or need to lie to Emmy like she had to around others she knew. Questions she would like a more straightforward answer to herself. |

Just what was Emerald raised to believe? In such an environment, it would be fairly obvious. A society built on kill or be killed, the aspect of remorse or regret were the most distant things from their minds when in those types of situations. And now, had she really just asked if it was a good thing or not? Did it really matter? It was so much easier when things like that weren't thought of. “I, personally, see it’s right with the intention of good is there. Others would disagree, but that's how I feel about it.” It still made her feel somewhat better about what had happened. It was just one of those moments; things would click together and just seem, well, wrong. But they had come after her. The change of pace was almost nice, if that word could be used. “But it starts to become clouded when intentions are replaced...it feels wrong, but then I wonder why it feels right too.” "Perhaps it's just something that can't be explained. If by normal standards it is completely wrong, and yet somehow, it seems like the right thing to do. That confusion could be the reason why an answer is difficult to explain." Emerald explained, sitting still, as if waiting for something. "But I wish I could find the answer. Or maybe it is just to save myself." |

"Perhaps it's just something that can't be explained. If by normal standards it is completely wrong, and yet somehow, it seems like the right thing to do. That confusion could be the reason why an answer is difficult to explain." Amber nods absently. One of those things that could be answered, but those that could answer were too untrustworthy. Liars, vile liars that only stood to gain precious ammunition for whatever lofty occurrences went on. Those things did not matter to her, the moment now only mattered. "It doesn't help since there was intent on those that you had to defend yourself against." A glance down to the pair of bodies. "It would be stupid to be the pacifist if your own life is in danger...so killing would have to be the end point, especially if there was intent to cause harm or death to you." Amber glances up at Emmy and smiles in a sheepish way. "Either way, it seems like an unwinnable situation. Kill or die, either way it seems like unfair damnation. Kill and have the blood stain your hands, or let your life be taken." Pause, she taps her chin in thought. "Now...what to do with these. We would have to be swift before someone takes notice." By someone, she meant either Kudo or the groundskeepers. Either of the two would be harrowing for both girls or cause or more bloodshed to assure silence. And neither of the options appealed to Amber. |

"Either way, it seems like an unwinnable situation. Kill or die, either way it seems like unfair damnation. Kill and have the blood stain your hands, or let your life be taken." Similar views. The few times that Emerald ever actually thought about the situation, she always came to that conclusion. It wasn't a good thing, but it had to be done to save herself. That was why it was so much better not to think about it. Clean mind, clean conscious. Sometimes these moments were so difficult. "Now...what to do with these. We would have to be swift before someone takes notice." "I'm not sure, I almost want to leave them here," Emerald began, her tone making it clear it was something she'd been contemplating ever since it happened, "But no matter what, even I can't do that." Even if there was little to no way to trace it back to her. "Regardless of what someone does, I don't think anyone is undeserving of a burial." Or rather, no one is undeserving of being thrown into a hidden body pit, but Emerald was sure the meaning was clear. She hauled herself up to a standing position, turning back to face Amber and those still on the ground. A smile, as though she'd quickly snapped out of whatever mood had made her ask such a strange, unnatural question. |

"I'm not sure, I almost want to leave them here," Amber lifted her head to look at her friend. "But no matter what, even I can't do that." A nod, it would not be right to simply leave them there. Easier, yes, as neither girl touched the bodies and thus leaving them in the clear. It would be headlined as "Mystery Deaths" and nothing more...and yet it did not feel right. Whomever they were did not matter anymore, nothing more than sacks of meat and organs. Kind of a morbid thought actually. "Regardless of what someone does, I don't think anyone is undeserving of a burial." "Then that's what we shall do." Amber says with a smile. The task was not difficult given their stylish and functional Aeons. Before gearing herself up to haul more bodies, the nephlet looks over to her friend. "You seem better. I'm glad to see that." |

"Then that's what we shall do." Amber says with a smile. The task was not difficult given their stylish and functional Aeons. Before gearing herself up to haul more bodies, the nephlet looks over to her friend. "You seem better. I'm glad to see that." "It happens sometimes." Emerald began, and would continue to explain as soon as she found the right words to string together. It was not something she had ever felt the need to explain, much less talk about. "Normally it's all a thoughtless process; it happens, and once they're gone it's done. Out of sight, out of mind. Normally I never think or worry. I don't feel remorse, or regret. I don't get upset. Nothing." Shrug. "But," A natural tone dropped slightly, "There are times when things come to a stand still. Everything catches up. And I have to wonder why, and realise that for the most part, there are no answers." Translation; she did not know why she did what she did, but that lack of knowledge would never stop her. She may very well be lying to her friend. |
