Forum Revival
Posted by Tsurai (Administrator) at Jun 7 2011, 06:22 AM. 0 comments
Alright guys, here we go.
I Tsurai, Forum Administrator of Manga-Destination, hereby announce the revival of this forum! It's been a very long hiatus, and life, school, and work got everyone out of the way (especially me) We had to put down the forum for a while. But now I have the ability to balance everything, and will now give as much attention as possible to the site, to bring it up to it's once former glory. Bear with me all new, and old, members, for the changes and cleaning up I will be doing with my new Co-Admin, Kokoro, as we make this a place we all and relax and enjoy. The rules will change, promotions will be much stricter, and we shall make sure that this place becomes a place of sanctity for those who get off of school, work, etc; and comes here after to chill and chat with others.
Thank you all for your patience, and feel free to PM me with any questions or concerns you have.

Staff changes and Grand Scale Plan
Posted by Tsurai (Administrator) at Jun 12 2009, 05:02 AM. 14 comments
So.... Now starts the plan to get MD on it's feet, and simply saying; it can't happen with only two staff members active and trying to crack this down. So i'm appointing trusted people I know to help with this cause of getting everything back up and running. If anyone feels that they should also recieve a position *veteran members only please* Please message or PM me so we can discuss things, so that nothing seems one-sided in this decision.
The changes will happen within these next two days, earliest starting this morning when I am fully awake, and I can properly state what all needs to be done. I highly encourage all members to help us in this huge endeavor, so united we can all bring the site to a new, and outstanding glory. If anyone has any questions, concerns, or objections, please notify me in a formal manner, and I will try my best to handle the problem as soon as possible.
Let's all strive to get this place active more than needed to!

Mainpage died.

MD Mainpage died. Thanks Jello for the heads up.
I tried to check if it's because we didn't pay our "rent", but for some reason it says we have unlimited hosting. So... I don't know what's going on. I will have to deal with it next week after I am done with my finals. Meanwhile, feel free to give opinions. I am illiterate in web hosting.
Hmm.. I wonder if the people who usually get to MD forum through the Mainpage knows how to get here without the Mainpage? The weblink isn't complicated. So I hope they are not lost.

If both nominees have won the same number of award titles in other categories or none, they both receive the award title for which there was a case of tie. If a member won more than five award titles, the award title category with the least amount of votes and smallest margin will be awarded to an alternative nominee with second highest number of votes. The vote counting process was carried out objectively and without bias. If you have any questions or concerns, please PM Khanny or boo-chan.
On a side note, I would like to continue the commemoration of all the great members we had in our forum. If you were a regular on MD, these phrases would definitely give your memory a run.

There are more hidden epitomic moments of MD in all the random chat threads. But you must be warned that there are many random chat threads, and those funny moments are all hidden among lots of spam and randomness.

Happy Anniversary!

Today marks the end of the two years since Manga Destination has opened its forum to its community members. If I think back to the past when MD was new, it feels like it was just few days ago, yet so much has happened. We went through a rollercoaster of good things and bad things.
Different members come and go, each with unique personalities. Each leaving behind a different imprint on the forum. Some are still here, since forever. And thousands more who come and go without a word. We appreciate each and every one of them.
Not so long ago, we even went through the verge of being shut down. Nevertheless, we survived! Although the founders of MD have retired, they will always be remembered for their hard work and contributions. Moreover, I would like to applaud the MD admins and staff for their diligence.
We want to thank the current members for sticking with us. We want to make this a place where you can forget your stress and have fun. Have a few laughs and relax. Perhaps unleash your superpowers.
As you know, we held Manga Destination Awards to commemorate all the memorable members. I realized that each of the memorable members are so unique that there are just not enough award titles to commemorate each and every one of them to show our appreciation.
A special announcement will be made later on, along with the MD Award winners. Look forward to it.
HAPPY 2nd ANNIVERSARY!

Manga Destination presents...

With the second MD anniversary coming up pretty soon, we decided to hold an award show like event. For the past two years, we have connected so many kinds of members, all unique individuals of their own. Some may not still be around, but leaving behind great memories, some are still around because they are super awesome, and hopefully more memorable members to look forward to.
The staff feels that we should celebrate these unique individuals and so we have brainstormed many award titles for recognition. Now it's your turn to help us recognize the memorable members of MD from the past two wonderful years.
Awards have been separated into several categories and have been posted up into different threads for your submission of nominations.
Results will be announced on the day of Manga Destination's second anniversary!
For the members to receive recognition from fellow members is a gift within itself. Also, you get bragging rights. Nevertheless, the winners will receive a MD Award Winner signature with his or her name and award title written on it. There may be customization.
Look for the Manga Destination Awards forum under General Discussions and start nominating!!!

Balla_Baibee's Retirement
Posted by balla_baibee (Retired Administrator) at Sep 9 2008, 04:04 AM. 11 comments
Hi everyone,
As many of you know from my last announcement, I said I was going to retire soon -- after the site was successfully transferred. Well, now, it seems that everything has settled down again and things are under control. Thusly, it is time for me to announce my formal retirement. Balla_Baibee, the founder and administrator of Manga-Destination for the past two years, will be retired, as of today, September 8, 2008.
Before I conclude this announcement, I would like to say that it has been amazing to see how much MD and its community has blossomed over the past two years. I am really proud to be able to say that I was a part of that greatness. I had a ton of fun chatting with everyone and running the site. Some of my best memories came from MD. Though it's been a long and hard road, wracked with obstacles, we came out even better then when we started. MD really is a magical place. It was an escape for some and a hangout for others. Regardless, everyone enjoyed themselves, which was all that truly mattered. MD is a wonderful and splendid forum.
I am extremely sad to have to retire. I do not want to leave MD and my friends of the internet behind. However, real life gets in the way of what I want. I am just too busy to run a site or even be a lurker. Real life beckons, and I must walk through the door that calls -- to my future. "How lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard." ~Carol Sobieski and Thomas Meehan ... I will definitely miss MD and its fun community.
Though this may be our eternal parting, I want everyone to know that I will never forget them and the great memories that I had at MD. All my memories will remain close to my heart, and I hope that my presence here at MD will not be forgotten. "Truly good friends are hard to find, difficult to leave, and impossible to forget." --G. Randolf.....
I wish each and every one of you the best of luck in the future. Have fun and farewell.
I will leave you with two last quotes:
"I wanted a perfect ending. Now I've learned, the hard way, that some poems don't rhyme, and some stories don't have a clear beginning, middle, and end. Life is about not knowing, having to change, taking the moment and making the best of it, without knowing what's going to happen next." ~Gilda Radner
"Don't cry because it's over. Smile because it happened." ~Theodor Seuss Geisel
Goodbye.
With love,
Balla_Baibee
Retired Founder and Administrator of MD.

The Online Viewing Manga List is fully back and up and running. All series are now listed and functional! Sorry for the time it took to get it back up there, but now you can go back to reading your manga! Enjoy!~
As I mentioned a few days ago, Manga Destination is in need of more uploaders. I know many of you just don't have time to dedicate as an uploader, so the system has been completely reorganized in order to make it less time consuming. Manga Destination currently needs two types of uploaders: those that upload new series and those that keep old and ongoing ones up to date. As for the first category, anyone that wants to upload and has a large amount of free time to spare can do so by adding series that MD currently does not have to the list. This is the same as it has always been.
However, for those who don't have that much time to spare, there is another option that can take as much time as you are willing to spend (from a few hours a month to a few hours a day). There is a long list of series on the current manga list that need to be updated, whether because they are ongoing series or because whoever was uploading them stopped before they were finished. If you become a part of this section of the uploading team, it'll be your responsibilty to keep these series up to date. That may seem like a lot, but for an ongoing series that is only a chapter or two a month. You may pick as many series to keep up to date as you feel comfortable with (every little bit helps).
The series we currently need updated are:
20th Century Boys
666 Satan
Air Gear
Bamboo Blade
Berserk
Chibi Vampire
Chronicles of the Cursed Sword
Claymore
DearS (incomplete)
Deep Love: Pao no Monogatari
D. Gray-man
DNAngel
Elfen Lied
Excel Saga
Fate/Stay Night
Full Metal Alchemist
Full Metal Panic
Fushigi Yuugi Genbu Kaiden
Gakuen Alice
Ghost Hunt
Gintama
Girl Saurus DX
Goong
Gravitation
Great Teacher Onizuka
Hayate no Gotoku
High School of the Dead
Hellsing
Ichigo 100%
Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure
Kaichou wa Maid-sama
Kamichama Karin (missing 1 vol)
Kannade
Love Collage
Loveless
Monster
Mushishi
Naruto
One Piece
Orphen
Ouran
Penguin Revolution
Perfect Girl Evolution (Wallflower)
Record of Lodoss War: The Grey Witch
If you are interested in updating any of these series and/or joing our uploading team, please PM me, mada_mada_dane, and I can answer any of your questions and add you to our uploading staff. Thanks to all current and future uploaders, without whom the site would not exist!
Also, as a side note, for the start of September, all requests in the Online Viewing and Download Request threads will be deleted. Sorry for any inconvienence, but this will give us a clean, fresh start.[redit][/redit]

General Announcements

Hey,
As was announced, Tsurai and I will be taking over MD as the new Administrators. As well, boo-chan will become the new Global Moderator. Hope you guys are as excited as we are to get MD rolling again and make this community better than ever.
Before going too much into that, there are some things that I would like to bring up. First and foremost, as many of you have probably noticed, the Online Viewing Manga List is gone. I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused, and I'm currently working to remedy the situation. However, there are a lot of links to go through, so please be patient as it may take a little time to get all the series back up there.
This leads to the next item on the agenda, which I will go over in greater detail after the manga list has been completely revived. Manga Destination is in desperate need of uploaders for our manga list. We, the staff, have a plan that will hopefully make uploading easier for those who are willing to help, but do not have much spare time. I'll go over this plan, as I said, after we have all of our manga available again, but please be thinking if there is any way you can give a little of your time to help the site here. If you are certain you would like to help and are willing to give a commitment, then PM me and I'll give you any information you may need.
Anyway, a bunch of new things will be heading your way here in the not too distant future. A few minor changes on the forum (nothing to get too excited about), a new layout for the main page, hopefully some more manga, and much, much more. Tsurai, boo-chan and I are looking forward to what the future will bring, but keep in mind that we can only do our jobs as long as this site remains active. Support the site by posting in the forum and becoming a part of our family/community (we don't bite).
Last and certainly not least, we would like to give a big thank you to balla_baibee for all she has done for this site. Without her, this site would not be what it is. She will be missed and remembered for a long time to come.
If you have any questions at all about the site, our staff, any problems, or whatever else you can think of, don't hesitate to PM me at any time. I'm more than happy to answer questions or discuss anything you may be wondering about.
~Mada

A New Beginning

Hey everyone,
As most of you know, I had been planning to shut down MD. The reasons were stated in the last letter. It was mainly because I no longer had time to run MD like I had in the past. Thusly, I had decided that since I could no longer take care of the site, it was time to shut it down. In addition, I have seen official statistics stating that MD’s activity had dropped to a depressing, practically dead, level compared to where we were at last year. Seeing the lack of dedication and activity in the site was another reason that prompted me to arrive at the decision I did. I felt that it was better to end the site and make official our lack of activity instead of waiting for the tiny ember to die out. To end on a good note was what I had wanted. Ishi agreed, so shutting the site down was the road we proceeded with.
On the other hand, it has come to my attention that there are still those who want to keep the dream I had alive – the dream to give back to the manga community and establish a thriving community that people can call their own. Originally, I had thought that our special hangout was dead and that though there were still a few people on it (maybe less that 10), it wouldn’t be a big issue if I shut it down. My reasoning was that most people had MSN and would continue to talk there or via email. No one was losing anything but an activity-less hangout. No one had any motivation to contribute to the site, so all I felt was that I was closing a dead forum. I believed that people had moved on and had outgrown MD.
When Mada and Tsurai approached me with the issue of me transferring the site over to them, I was reluctant. The reasoning for this was that I felt that I had contributed quite a bit to the site, and I did not see why a new site could not be established. From an admin point of view, I did not want people using my contributions and my achievements as a basis for their success. I felt that they should start from scratch, creating a new site with success they can credit as their own. I acknowledge that everyone contributed to MD and was completely willing to give each person who helped out MD their contributions back so that they can start a new site. I just did not feel that it was fair to use my hard work as a catapult to success or failure. I did not see why making a new site would be so different. It would be the same people and same stuff – just a different name. I apologize if this sounded selfish, but I want to say that it was not my intention to come off as selfish. I hope that you can understand, if not agree, with my thinking as an administrator.
In addition, I did not understand their desire to keep the site running. I’m not saying that there’s not hope in bringing the site back to its former activity level. It would be quite difficult. I felt that if the site could fall this low, it can and may sink again. This is because barely any people have the drive or motivation to contribute manga or discussions to the site. There are barely any people around anymore except for the MV veterans, and only a handful of those people are left.
Was it really worth it to keep trying? Was grabbing fleeting hope and happiness worth it? To me, it was not. I loved this site with all my heart, but I felt that it was time to let go and not drag it on any longer. As sad as this may seem, I have outgrown being a forum/manga otaku. I used to love the internet and MD ever so much. This past year, I have realized that my career, real life friends/family, and real life priorities are more important than the internet. As much as I tried to deny this, I could not, and it was time to change.
However, do not misunderstand me. I understand totally where Mada, Tsurai, and whoever else agrees with them are coming from. I truly do. This is because two years ago, I would have done anything to stay at MV, to continue our legacy there. I know how you all feel. I just outgrew that way of thinking because I know now that the internet can never be my life. However, I’m glad Mada and Tsurai expressed to me about how they felt and helped me see why they wanted to keep running the site.
After a lot of thinking, I came to a decision as “me”, the person behind the ‘balla_baibee’ identity, not as the admin. Mada, Tsurai, and I have made an agreement. I have decided that MD will stay open and running. However, there will be a change in power, for I will be retiring since as I have expressed earlier, I no longer have the time to run MD. (Do not get me wrong that it is a lack of dedication and love on my part. It is because I truly do not have the time to anymore. I hope that is understandable for college and life really takes its toll on a person.) Anyways, Mada and Tsurai will step up as admin under a few easy, previously agreed upon conditions. I hope this decision can satisfy everyone.
Why did I come to this decision, even though I was so dead set against it before? Well, partly, Mada and Tsurai helped me see their view. And the other part…Looking at this rationally, who am I to stop you if you want to try to run the site for yourself? The community has a share in the site, too. Maybe if I handed over the site, you guys can finally understand why I acted the way I did during these two years and why I made the decisions I did. Maybe after I'm gone, people can appreciate what I've done, even if it’s just a little bit. But truly, I made this decision because it was what my… friends wanted. A last favor, a last gift of hope won’t hurt anyone.
Thusly, I will be retiring within the next few weeks. Before that, I would like to show our new admins the ropes and how to work things. Basically, I feel that I owe it to the site and the members not to completely abandon them without a lifeline. After everything is settled and things return to normal, I will retire my balla_baibee identity.
I apologize for the pain and grievances I’ve cause the past few days. It was not my intention to hurt anyone. I hope that my sincerity and honesty will be accepted.
Before I end this long post, there is one last thing that I want to clarify. Many of you have known me for two years. People have remarked that I have changed over the past two years. To be honest, that is both right and wrong. In terms of change, I feel that throughout the past two years, I have matured. I learned a lot of things about the nature of man, how to be a leader, etc. However, I have not changed in the way you all think I have – that holding a position of power got to my head and that I felt superior. Deep down, I am still the same person from the past. In the beginning at MV, I could do anything I wanted and just let myself be free. I was just a plain, regular member. After about a month, I was nominated for moderator, and I accepted that position. At the time, I was just doing very basic moderation things, so I could still be free and be myself.
But, after what happened with Acer, I became admin of MD. Great responsibilities that I hadn’t had before were placed on my shoulders. Whether our community lived or died was practically in my hands. At the time, I had gotten busier with school work and could no longer balance school work, online discussions/chatting, and admin duties. Thusly, I had to make a choice. I could choose to ignore my admin duties and just be a member. However, that would mean that MD would never have the chance to grow like it did. Instead, I chose to put my all into being an admin and shouldering the responsibilities that came with it. To do that, the job required me to detach myself from the community. I looked at all other routes I could have taken, but this was the only one to ensure the life of the community. It was a sacrifice I felt that I had to make for everyone. Pretty much, I no longer had the time to just chat and have fun. Also, I wanted to try to be as unbiased as possible – to make decisions without the influence of my friends. Therefore, because of these two reasons, I ended up placing distance between myself and everyone else. I do not regret the choice I made because if I had not, MD may not have been able to become what it did.
What does sadden me is that my original friendships have deteriorated and that it has made people misunderstand my attitude and decisions. I regret that most of us did not stay friends. I want to let each and every one of you know that it would have been my greatest pleasure and highest honor to be friends with you. However, I did what I felt that I had to do, so there is nothing I can say or do about a decision already made. I hope that you can understand or try to understand my sincerity.
Well, that ends this big insight into Balla_Baibee’s head. As a recap, I will be retiring in a few weeks after I show Mada/Tsurai the ropes. After that, the balla_baibee identity will cease to exist, and Mada/Tsurai will be running MD. I hope that everyone here can understand why I have acted the way I did when I did, not just now but throughout the past two years. I will be making one last retiring announcement in a bit, so until then, I hope you can try to understand my thoughts a little better.
Sincerely,
Balla_Baibee
Dear wonderful members of Manga-Destination,
Today is a sad day for many and maybe a happy day for others. For me, I would say it is a bittersweet day. I guess I would call it a foggy day with the sun just behind the clouds. What is the purpose of this letter, you may ask? Well, I have finally mustered the courage to speak to everyone from the bottom of my heart, in the form of this letter. There are some things that I wish that I never had to say and things that I should have said long ago. Before you make any conclusions, will you listen to my words?
Manga-Destination is a manga site dedicated to providing friendly people, awesome discussions, and most of all online and downloadable manga. Was it always this way? The answer is no. Two years ago, Manga-Destination was but a far off dream that only a few others and I dared to dream. We, the original members and I, were complete strangers on the internet, brought together by our love of manga, anime, and discussions. With the hard work of the original members and our desire to attract more members into our community, we built a large manga collection and most of all, a hearty community. Slowly but surely, we became the Manga-Destination you know today.
Many people have asked me why I run Manga-Destination for free and why I do so much work for some “random” website. I usually just tell people that I do it because it’s fun, but that’s not the whole truth. My real answer is a bit naïve and maybe over-sentimental, so I never really elaborated in my answer to these questions. However, something has prompted me to give the honest answer.
I first got into reading manga about five years ago. When I saw my friends reading it, I laughed and asked them why they were reading “comics” at their age. Instead of responding, they handed me a manga and just as swiftly as that, I was pulled into the world of manga. In the manga and anime world, I discovered a fantastic place filled with hopes, dreams, perseverance, love, and so much more. The manga world gave me a place to escape to when I was feeling sad; it gave me hope and became my sun when my sky turned black. Above all, it gave me happiness. It allowed me once again to believe that maybe fairy tales can come true and that maybe our world wasn’t so bad after all. When I picked up that first manga, I never foresaw how much of an impact manga would have on my life. Two years ago, I realized that I wanted to give others the same happiness and hope that manga gave me. I desired to give back to the manga and anime world that had given me so much. With that vision close to my heart, I worked hard to set up a free site where everyone could enjoy manga. With the help of so many kind people I met along the way, this dream was accomplished.
Manga-Destination gave me so many wonderful memories. The people were kind, and I made so many friends. I felt the warmth and caring they had for the site and me from the bottom of their hearts. They taught me how to be a good leader and showed me how to be a nice person. I learned a lot from these people and from running the site. Even though we argued and sometimes didn’t get along, I am forever grateful that I met these spectacular people from all over the world on Manga-Destination. I probably wouldn’t be who I am today without them.
With that said, it pains me to express that as we grow older and our lives move ahead, our interests and points of view change. That is life. To be honest, my interests have also changed throughout the years. I still like to read manga, but it is no longer a great joy as it was before. I feel myself moving away from manga and anime community. The biggest reason for my move away from manga is that I do not have the time for it anymore. School life has been busy and my other interests and hobbies take up too much time. I get home late every night, and I really do not have time to read manga or run Manga-Destination anymore.
Thusly, I would hereby like to announce that I will be shutting down Manga-Destination for good. Maybe this seems like a very quick or rash decision, but I assure you that it is not. I have thought long and hard about it, and it was the best conclusion I could come up with. Ishi-kun and I have been discussing this issue since about last Thanksgiving (2007). That’s over half a year ago. It broke my heart to make this decision, as this site carries years of memories and joyous times. But gradually, I realized that I have been neglecting Manga-Destination. The site used to be a joy to take care of, but now, it has become a chore. If you haven’t noticed, I used to be really dedicated and updated often. Now, I rarely am able to find time to update the manga, chat, or do site related stuff. My personal life, my studies, and my reality commitments fill up my whole day, even on weekends too. I really don’t want to shut down the site but no longer am I able to take care of it. I just don’t have that kind of time that I had two years ago. Maybe if every day, I could have 30 hours instead of 24 hours, I could still do it. But, I honestly don’t have the time anymore, and I probably won’t have any more time in the future than I have now. Therefore, I decided that I should close the site now instead of dragging it on. I feel that it’s better to end it on a good note, with our heads held up high instead of letting it crumble into the dust. Consequently, after long talks with Ishi-kun, we have made our final decision to shut down the site. I apologize from the bottom of my heart for all the disappointment and pain this decision will cause. I hope you all will accept my sincerity.
I would like to thank everyone who put so much time and dedication into the site. It really meant a lot to me. I will never forget the wonderful memories I had on this site and the amazing people I met. Manga-Destination and all the people in it will always be a part of my heart.
The site will be left up with no updates until the domain expires next May, unless someone wants to renew it to keep it up, year after year. But, it will be a dead site – no updates. We will be closing the forums at the end of August.
I would also like to say that my balla_baibee accounts and email will only be logged it/checked until the end of August. If you have any comments or concerns you would like to have heard, you can try to contact me, but I will not guarantee a reply. At the end of August, I will no longer be using any of my balla_baibee accounts.
Please don’t think of this as goodbye forever. When a door closes, another will open for you. I believe that the Manga-Destination door has closed, but there are new doors awaiting the rest of us in other places. Maybe we’ll meet again in real life or someplace else on cyberspace. I know that no matter where I go in the future, Manga-Destination will always be a part of my heart. I hope that it will be a part of yours also.
Sincerely,
Balla_Baibee

Yo~
I didn't get any replies to my slideshow thread. I guess no one's interested. Lol. It probably wasn't a good idea anyway. So, I'll cancel it since nobody wants it. >.>
I get the feeling no one reads the news on the here. Maybe my news updates just arn't interesting. *cries* Well, there will be a very... interesting one soon, so hopefully, everyone will stay tuned until then.

Every now and then, I’ll thank everyone for their support and help, but I don’t think that I ever wrote a whole update to thank people. So, I decided that I will because you are all worth it!
I’d like to thank everyone, as a whole. I don’t think that there is a way for me to show everyone how great my gratitude for them are, so all I can simply say is thank you all so much! Thank you, shi shi, arigato, merci, gracias… All your support and help has meant the world to me. Without your help, MD would not be where it is today. Again, thank you.
On another note, it’s been a long time since I added VIPs – mostly because there’s just been so much to do for MD that I never got around to it. However, there are quite a few people that I definitely want to recognize for their hard work and amazing contributions. These are the newly added VIP:
Animefan
Boo-chan
Cloud
Daisy
Deraldean
Dora0chan
Dream
Foxxy
Guon

These people have been selected for MD’s VIP list because of their amazing contributions to the site. Some have simply been extremely active, making the forum a bustling, fun place. Others have uploaded heaps of mangas, helping to build MD’s manga collection to what you see today. A few have done banners for the site, and others did wonderful jobs as moderators. Thank you everyone for your hard work! Please give them a round of internet applause. *claps* YAY!
Please give another hand to our other three VIP: Mada_mada_dane, IML, and Sage!
I’ve updated all the weekly stuffs. In addition, the uploader and VIP lists have been updated. ^-^ That’s all for now.

MD Slideshow, anyone?
Posted by balla_baibee (Retired Administrator) at Aug 13 2008, 10:14 PM. 0 comments
Hey Everyone!
Well, most of us have been together for about... 2 years -- some of us less. Two years is a long time, and we've made many memories together. I was thinking the other day when I was listening to some piano instrumentals that I should make a slideshow for MD focusing on all the good times we've had here. I guess it'll be a slideshow to reminisce about MD and to celebrate MD/MD members. Does it sound like a good idea? I guess it'll be a present from me to Manga-Destination.
The song I want to use is the piano song "Maybe" by Yiruma. Listen here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JCfGB5FSJcg
If a slideshow were to happen, I need tons of contributions from members -- mainly images and video clips. What images remind you MD? What images remind you of the awesome discussions or memories you've had on MD?
Anyone can contribute images, as many as you want. If you want me to include video clips, please give me the download link for that specific clip. All I ask is that you post the URL of the image and tell me what it is. It'd be nice if you wrote a sentence on why it's significant to you or MD but you don't have to.
Ex:
Taiwan Dramas
URL
Because a lot of the girls like them and talk about them.
In addition, you can post your sig/avatars and I'll try to include them in the video, so everyone can see the members of MD and who contributed to the slideshow. If you want me to put in a quote or text, I'll try my best, just write the quote and I'll see if I can squeeze it in. It could be what someone said on the forums/MSN that was worth noting... or something inspirational etc.... like a quote by someone famous.
So, ex post:
Twilight
url
Because we're obsessed.
Olympics
URL
It's happening right now.
College
url
Much talk about it.
MSN logo
url
Our hangout.
Hugging Friends video clip 10 sec
url for direct dl
We're friends forever.
Text: blahblahblah
Quote: The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams. ~ Eleanor Roosevelt
And etc....
As I said, you can post as much stuff as you want, the more the better. If I don't have enough, I can't make the slideshow. I guess posts will be open until Sunday because I'm kind of short on time and I need time to make the slide show. ^-^ So, post away.[redit][/redit]

Last Manga Update...
Posted by balla_baibee (Retired Administrator) at Aug 12 2008, 06:16 AM. 0 comments
Hey all!
Whew! Summer’s almost gone for us in the states. *cries* Where did it all go? I hope everyone had an enjoyable season.
Here’s the manga update that I promised a while back. I apologize for taking so long. >.< Summer is just as hectic for me as in the school year. o.O
Manga uploading has been a bit slower the past couple months because people are busy. Many apologies. This might be the last manga update… for a while here. We’ve got a few things we need to take care of, so we’ll try to keep adding manga in our spare time. Persevere! Without further ado…
Newly Added/Updated Online:
-Basara
-Beck
-Can't Lose You
-Descendents of Darkness (Yami no Matsuei)
-Eternal Sabbath
-Fate/Stay Night
-Loveless
-Monster
-Naruto
-Petshop of Horrors
-Prince of Tennis
-Shinshi Doumei Cross
-Skip Beat
-Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles
-Zodiac P.I.
(Remember, we update manga all the time, and usually, I don’t put in an announcement for the updated mangas since it takes too much time. Thusly, check back constantly to see if we’ve updated your manga. Also, you can make requests in the request forums.)
Downloads:
-Basara
-Peacemaker
-Zodiac P.I.
Have fun reading. Don’t forget to check out the Olympics! Go U.S! *cheers*

Forum Clean-Up
Posted by balla_baibee (Retired Administrator) at Aug 4 2008, 11:03 PM. 0 comments
Messy forums are always yucky, aren’t they? Nobody wants a messy forum. We have a wonderful admin and mod team here on MD. Everyday, we try out best to keep these forums as clean as possible.
However, sometimes in our quick daily checks, we might miss stuff. Or, we might not have enough time to clean everything as thoroughly. Well, this summer, we’re doing a nice forum clean-up! We’re going to make these forums shiny! *oooh! Shiny!* Just kidding.
Mada_Mada_Dane, our official global moderator thought up this plan and will be heading it. If you see her or me around the forums, the best way to give us a hand is to NOT spam. Spamming is when you post Stupid Pointless Annoying Messages (hence, spam). So, please help us out! Thank you everyone for your support!

Scanlation Project Bust
Posted by balla_baibee (Retired Administrator) at Jul 31 2008, 09:57 PM. 2 comments
The idea of doing scanlations was so grand and ever so exciting. We were going to start our first project in March, but look now, it’s July. However, why has there not been any news?
I’m really sorry to say that our Manga-Destination scanlation project will be canceled. It didn’t work out. I tried my best, but there’s no hope for it. People just don’t have the time or dedication for it here. Well, from January to the beginning of April, I looked around everywhere to try to recruit people for scanlations. I got many eager responses the first time around. When I sent out the tests, only a handful responded. I thought that those who responded would be my team. I had two translators and four editors lined up for work. I was really excited because that would allow me to get at least two projects going at once.
We had some great projects lined up to do. First, I teamed us up with a group to do Godchild scanlations. Next, I talked to Magicbulletgirl about doing Zettai Karen Children. She graciously allowed me to use her RAWs. Also, we were going to do a third project simultaneously, which was going to be a short shoujo called Millenium Kiss. I talked it out with the team, and I thought everything was set. Contrarily, everything started falling apart.
My Chinese translator/editor had to leave for Hong Kong. I was down to one translator, but she was extremely swamped. So, no translators and three editors was what I had to work with. We could still work on our Godchild project. I sent out our projects and neither of the two who did Godchild sent me a completed work. I emailed them multiple times, but got either no response or a really shifty one. My last editor and I lost contact.
Basically, I guess everything just kind of fell apart. I feel really sad about this because I had gotten so many people’s hopes up, and now, I have to tell everyone that this project isn’t going to work. I would like to apologize to everyone, especially Celestial and Magicbulletgirl. Thank you guys for your generosity. I’m sorry that MD’s scanlation team let everyone down.
Manga-Destination will be for manga online and downloads only – no scanlations. Thank you everyone for your support. Please continue supporting us in the future.

Hey everyone!
I’m back from vacation. Alaska and the cruise were wonderful. I’ve never been to a place that was more beautiful. It’s was amazing, and the air was so refreshing. I had a great time. I hope everyone is also having a wonderful summer.
This August, there will be a few big announcements, so I hope you stay tuned. Thank you everyone for your support.
Ciao for now.
