The sounds of the falls gently drowned out the sounds of his own thoughts as he tuned in, listening to her secrets, her thoughts...today she was happy even though the fumes where choking her children and she wept poison (acid rain) he let a hand run across the smooth rock of the falls, perched just above a small peak hanging over the falls shaded by a tree bearing flowers of an ancient beauty. laying across the stone he let the breeze pass through him...oh how nice it would have been to sun his scales and he really didn't care if he ran into trouble..he was proud of what he was and clouding his image was not in the question so he let himself shift he wasn't very big in size for two hundred and fifty years worth of growing, he dug his talong into the rock using a bit of his talent to let it slide right in as if the rock where spiltting it looked very natural as the crack spread down the boulder and finally gave way plumiting down the falls, it wasn't too large certainly not large enough to start an earth quake. jade in color the scales glinted as the rays caught them, the grasses around the tree just long enough for him to entangle his tail in it, he wrapped himself up on one of the larger branches of the tree his tail now off the ground, hanging almost lazily. this place...needed to resemble something he loved..so he gave his body a swift shake shifting his scales and the tree as they fell they broke and flowers sprouted in a matter of seconds blooming in brilliant shades his eyes softening as they stared at them for what seemed like hours...Lulling him off into slumber. His eyes snapped open and he released a yawn, the flowers already having spread their seeds hopefully for miles, releasing himself from the tree he shifted back to his humanesqe form and stretched again and he decended the small trail down the falls so that he may watch the water as it fell he finnaly caught the sounds of laughter in the feilds above the falls a smile spread across his features and he reacsended to watch them a few more moments he shifted again and looked up from the ledge, eyeing the children with a playfullness about him, They saw him and released a shreak " Dragon, dragon!" the younger one shouted and came running, how suprising that he finds them unafraid of the fact that worried mothers most likely told them about the monsters that lurk in the elements and devour the young. he let them touch his scales even before he knew he absoluetly had to go, he decended the trail..in his original form another breaze shifting the small mane around his head and neck, his horns hust bearly breaking the skin of his skull, he shifted into his human form again and came to what appeared to be a peach tree of some kind. he wasnt bery hungry but, the branch bended towards him anyways and he took the peach in hand eatching as the treeling sprouted in his very palm small leaves covering the small branches. he smiled before setting it down and looking across the falls very faintly hearing on the wind "dragon dragon!" |

"Lien did you hear?" "There was a dragon! I saw him!" "He was pretty!" "Jade green, like the necklace you wear!" It was silly how kids could get all happy about random things like that. It wasn't like there were many dragons left anyways. She sighed at them, wondering if they knew it couldn't possibly have been a dragon. According to the government there were only two left; but hell, she was only 13 and she had to admit, the government wasn't all that bright. Maybe there were a few here and there scattered about, remaining out of everyone's sights in case someone came after them. Thirteen years old by now, and every so often she could feel a slight sting on her cheek. Her father told her her gills were growing in, and soon she'd be able to shift into a dragon of her own, like a true Dekan, and finally learn her element. Lien couldn't wait. Maybe there really had been a dragon. Shifting in the swing she sat in, she tilted her head up, catching the scent of... dirt. And rain. Hm. "A dragon?" "Yes, a dragon! A green one, he was pretty!" "Or maybe it was a she..." "No, it was a he! Lady dragons have fur on their back." "How do you know?" She sighed inwardly, trying to get their attention back on track. "Where'd he go?" "She!" "It was a he!" "That way." They pointed down the path, past the Falls. No one really went to the Falls anymore, only because it was deserted and dangerous. Maybe not so dangerous really; they just thought it was. A great battle had occurred there, and as the saying goes they'd made the Gods upset, and to stop their fighting, they'd caused an earthquake that ripped the Falls in half. Hogwash if you asked Lien, but no one was really asking her. Honestly she thought it was just because they were fighting that the earthquake had triggered; one of them probably released too much energy and upset the planet, and it fought back. More than likely, that was pretty close to what happened. She could hear the trees crying when something went wrong; they didn't like people fighting around them, on their soil, because war destroyed. She stood, brushing herself off, the other kids playing among themselves. A few more years and she wouldn't be able to play with them anymore, because she'd look different than they did, and it'd scare their parents. Her aunt said it was unfortunate, but once she stopped 'blending in' they'd need to hide her from the Kurenai and the Razziek. Huffing, she kicked at a rock on the path, angry that things always had to change because of the Kurenai, or the Razziek, or because of Malassa. It was getting ridiculous. Immediately after, she knelt and petted the rock, telling it she was sorry and asking it to forgive her. The silly humans didn't know any better, but Lien did; Dekans could hear the world's anger, its bitterness. Could feel the waves weeping, the air sighing, the ground trembling, and the fire's crackling fury. Just like the elementals, only the Dekans could hear them, but the elementals could help them. The elementals were their guardians. Returning to her journey, she came upon a pretty peach tree; there, munching on a peach, was a man she'd never seen before. She got scared, not knowing what else to do and darted up into a tree, hoping the forest would hide her. 'Fear not, daughter of the forest, it's only your cousin.' Cousin? She had a cousin? Intriguing... and so she watched with a fair bit of interest, trying not to make any noises, though if he really was her cousin, he'd hear her anyway. |

the peach's flesh was sweet as he let it float across his tastebuds. he even bit into its core on accident, and he dropped it letting it settle into the earth. His eyes where a dark Cerulian weird for his scale color he thought but beautiful none the less, He began practicing an act he was taught when he was young as a passtime, tai chi somehow it calmed him to move as slow as the planet...to listen in to the surroundings and become one with the earth again. Somehow he was amazed at the earth's resiliance to the humans..his kind have been here a very long time and where rightfully the earths children, at least he thought so. he shifted his feet and stopped, his ears detcting the sound of a rock scuttling against the earthen path...the path was not tilted to an angle where rocks simply fall...so he allowed himself to highten his gaurd incase it was trouble. he stopped his tai chi and stared at the floating clouds happy with the way one of them looked like a lopsided dragon. he still heard the "dragon dragon! which way dragon!" he smiled...he would confront them later... he loved the falls..a haven because he couldn't be seen at least not for very long, he considered shifting forms again...maybe in an attempt to scare off the intruder..he'd caught the scent of earth, flaring his nostils as he caught the scent turning his head in the direction he had caught it from his voice breaking the peaceful silence. "Best come out, The spiders dislike when their webs are torn" He smiled staring in the direction the scent had come from. almost asking for whoever, or whatever was hiding to come out. ooc: sry so short xD |

[ooc; TAH so short, shame! xD Kidding] Her chest puffed a little, a bit of pride in her ability to avoid things like that swelling. "I don't tear webs on accident. They always warn me when they're there, so I don't tear webs or squish them either." She nodded, slipping to a lower branch so she can watch him. She wasn't sure what he was doing, but it looked interesting. Her father had shown her a few moves from Chinese martial arts, so she could defend herself if she needed to, and it kind of looked like that, but not really. She smiled a little, watching him, moving a little so she could see him better. Now that she actually looked at him, he had a few of the Dekan traits. Maybe this was the dragon they were talking about? Why would a Dekan shift into a dragon around kids? They tell stories; that said, few really believed them most of the time. "So, you the jade dragon the kids are all hyper about? I'll have to tell them you're a guy, they couldn't tell." She giggled a little, thinking about it. "They said lady dragons have fur on their backs; I've never seen a lady dragon, do they?" Her dad said she'd be pretty big, so looking in a mirror would be silly. Pausing, she tilted her head a little. "Landslide. Wonder what's wrong this time..." |

He smiled at her reply, he knew she was one of them well his kind..he tilted his body a little to see her a little better something about him knew if she was as proud of herself as she always was then she'd give herself away..but why harm one of your own kind, you know even if she wasn't he wouldnt harm her. for humans where living just as this earth where they not? He took a step closer before he shifted out infront of her, on his hid legs so that he almost stood infront of her, his scales catching the sunlight "I would be." his nostrils flared as she finished and the mane on his back bristled he asn't angry just a bit aggrivated that they mistook her gender. "I am most definatly a boy." He almost stuck his large head in the bushes but instead he shifted again and stood infront of the bushes placing his hand to one of the larger spider webs welcoming the aracinid onto his lam where it sat as he observed it and placed it back in its nest. his eyes rose and he looked over her, beiong able to tell her age height and weight. "Hmm, you are not yet able to shift yet..." he anted to say something conforting but he understood her pride and thaught it best not to brag for he loathed it himself. afterall he had been her two hundred years longer and with age comes wisdom though he doubted he wasn't the wisest man in existance. now why would he call himself a man? he could have smacked himself right then and there. "Hmmm, are your parents of the same lineage?" |

Letting out a small giggle, she nodded, knowing the pride thing well. Perhaps it would have been best to keep that quiet, but Lien couldn't have; she had to tell it all or nothing. Maybe that would get her in trouble later, if the Kurenai or the Razziek ever found out about her. Heck, even the Al-Hazrad were a problem, but she could handle it. She was a freaking Dekan! "I will tell them then. They don't know Dekan can talk, but I'll tell them you don't have fur on your back or something." She smiled again, hopping out of the tree, almost falling over avoiding a bug that had landed before she did. Her own pride flared, slightly upset about his comment. She was hoping he wouldn't be able to tell, but Dekan could easily pick another Dekan out from the middle of Shalaya. "Lucain. Jeranith Lucain. That's my dad. I don't know my mother, but dad says she's not a Dekan, she's a drow. He says I can meet her soon, after I can shift." She was looking forward to being able to shift quite a bit. Not just because then she could get away from the people who don't understand her, finally be with her own kind, people that don't look at her weird when she says there was a landslide somewhere far away. People that don't think her insane when she talks of fairies and dragons, unicorns and angels. To her, it just meant that everything would be normal. Of course there was the fact she'd need to learn to be a warrior, to defend herself and her kin, but she'd do that gratefully. "My father had a couple brothers and he has a sister somewhere. Dodge, Rohan and Kenjira. Dodge and Rohan died though, before they had love interests. Maybe you're my aunt's son, she's had a few. She's old." Giggling, she poked herself on the nose in reprimanding for calling her aunt old. Though, truth was, she was indeed quite old. |

He watched her intently, still in his true form his body almost close enough to touch the bark of the tree it felt...wonderfull to be with another of his kind, even if she was not able to shift...his arms grasped the tree gently and pulled himself up, shaking some of those jade scaled loose from his body so they fell to the earth and blossomed into wildflowers and new trees. his extended torso wove its way around her, and the animals that saught refuge in the tree carefully and gently untill he was resting in the tree. staring at the branches intently a moment before he caught the sound of machines, machines used to kill their voices on the wind "We saw the dragon with the children, we need to kill it before it devours them" the sound of the machines readying to fire made him spring into action, first of all they would harm the girl if they fired at him, second the tree would break if he fell, and he couldn't allow any more pain then what earth was induring now His back talons imbedded themselves in the bark, the fraying bark expanding into new branches as he did this, with one of his large hands he grabbed the girl and held her gently before he placed her in his mane "hold on if you want your life." And his body uncoiled from the tree almost falling free from the branches and landing on the earth with a gentle thud now weapons where firing at a rapid pace and a few of them where hitting the jade scales the sounds of his scales cracking like ceramic tiles as they where hit, he didnt release them for they would expose his flesh he only voluntarily shed his extra scales. he reared up and faced the crowd of oncomming attackers opening his mouth and releasing a hiss, and then a roar...he didn't want to kill them...even if they where trying to kill him. he lowered himself again and moved to the left almost sprinting on all four of those legs so fast that he appeared to be hovering, finnaly he dug his arms into the soil and created mud so thick it trapped their feet he went back up the path to the falls, shifting half was through so he would be carrying her on his back that was close....still looking ahead he called back to her "You alright?" |
