"Mother, you shouldn't worry so much."

"Hush, Taiki."

"You know I'm right." There was no hiding the smirk in his voice, his eyes; so much like his mothers, mirroring the grin that had soon plastered itself on his face, "Besides, father wouldn't want you worrying so much. You're carrying his child." And, as if to make his point, he gently laid a hand upon her rounding stomach. "You know he'll only worry if you worry."

Laughing at her son, she shook her head, easily removing his hand from her stomach, "I know, Tai."

She could hardly believe that, in three centuries, he'd grown into such a man; she could be proud of him. He was the spitting image of his father, the harsh lines upon his face, the cold eyes. Only, Taiki's eyes weren't harsh; they were warm and loving, like his mothers. Unlike his father, he'd grown into a good, respectable man, Kuya having helped along the way; ensuring that he didn't slip into the same crevice that his father, or Suya, had gone into.

Moving towards the bar, she gripped onto her sons hand firmly; a quiver of fear paving its way into her heart. She wouldn't say she was terrified, but she was nervous. For just under three hundred years, she'd played dead; Kuya having rescued her from a time in her life when she needed it. She was stuck, and the man she thought she'd loved had turned out to be the man she wasn't in love with. He'd become sinsiter, like her first husband, the same pain she'd felt at his betrayal had returned like a landslide and it was Kuya who'd protected her from it.

Letting his hand go, she watched the bar tender as he went about serving the other patrons, her eyes following his every movement. The thought had crossed her mind that she may know him, or he know her, but she was always like that. She'd expressed her fears to Kuya before they'd returned here; explaining she was afraid of meeting the people she'd left behind, including her beloved twin sister. She knew they'd be angry with her, angry that she'd put them through such pain and torment; but Kuya had told her that they should understand. "What did you want, Tai?"

"Just a soda. You know I don't drink."

"Of course." Shaking her head, she waited till the tender turned towards them, placed their orders and turned so her back was to the counter. It'd been so long since she'd been here, the memories of the time long past were beginning to surface, and though many were happy, the bad memories seemed to compensate for them. In the time she'd been gone, she'd experienced her own happiness; marrying Kuya had been one of them, would possibly be the most happiest, because he'd shown her what it was like to be loved. To be genuinely cared for. He'd been the one to save her from her own bitter torment, had protected her when she needed it, but also understood she could hold her own when it was necessary.

"Mother? You're doing the space out thing."

Shaking her head, she looked up at her son and smiled, "Sorry, it just feels weird being back here." It did. She felt out of place, but she knew she'd have to come back here one day. Her growing family depended on it, and she needed to face up to her fears. The scars upon her body were a constant reminder of what she'd survived, of what she'd come through, she couldn't simply give up now. Kuya had given her back her strength, her fire, the one that propelled her to do things she thought she could never do.

Looking through the crowd, the smoke wrapping itself about them in its embrace, her eyes scanning the floor for any traces of familiarity. Finding none, she released her breath; idly pulling at a loose strand of hair. She didn't know why, but the one person she hoped she would never see was Yukiko. She knew she'd be angry with her for leaving her, angry for abandoning her when she knew she never should have. "Your aunt Yukiko will probably hurt me, you know."

Looking towards his mother, he watched her and nodded, "Probably. But father said he'd be there when you went and saw her."

"Yukiko finds me, Taiki. She's got a homing beacon, the moment she heards word her double is wandering around; she'll be onto it like a blood hound." Laughing, she shook her head, "So, I'm just going to have sit back and wait. Mm?"

Turning when she heard the tender announce their drinks, she snatched them up; handing her sons to him, and sipped at her own; both were a grape flavoured substance, something the two of them shared. One would have thought they were brother and sister, with the way they acted, but they knew otherwise. Taiki was her life, next to Kuya, the one thing that had kept her going through all her pain. Even when she'd given him up, to protect him from Suya, she knew she had done the right thing. But pretending like he was dead? it wad the hardest thing she'd ever had to do.

"Mother, you are insane." he admitted, skulling his own, "No wonder father digs you."

Laughing, she simply shook her head and returned her gaze to the floor; just as someone caught her eye. A face from her past, and a silent dread soon pitted itself in her stomach. She knew the day was coming, and now she'd have to start dealing with the consequences of her actions.
