The silence was near deafening, the soft scratching of mice could be heard over the silent wailing. From the cracks above, a shaft of sunlight was cast down, encumbering her in its mocking embrace, its warmth holding her in place. Since leaving, she'd almost forgotten what it was like to be around anything anymore, the mere thought of civiliastion left ehr paralysed in her own fear. She'd only left because her family was gone; her husband, her daughter, her son... even her sister. She'd lost everything in one foul swoop. And now? Now she was back. She couldn't quite understand why she was back either, just knew she was meant to be here, that something had called to her and now here she was.

Crouching down, she reached out tenderly, her finger tips pressed into the dusty floor; her hair falling over her shoulders, the hems of her gown dragging along in the dirt. Yes, she was back and still she felt that pang of bitterness in her heart; a feeling she very rarely felt, if at all. Remaining as she was, she let her head drop forward in silent prayer; her breathign soft, her heart beating soundly within her chest. With all her own reasoning, she felt that she should also be dead, that she had no reason left upon this world. She longed for her daughter, yearned to be with Yuki again; but still she was here, living. She'd carried on as though nothing had changed, even after their deaths, her mind safely locked away from anymore pain.

Her son, as reckless as he was, had left her; just as she'd predicted he would. Even her sister, the callous creature she was, had left her. For all Sayuri knew, she was dead also, possibly slain by her own kind; for she was not like Sayuri, nor anyone else. Though they were sisters, they were not alike. Haruna was colder, more bitter, a solitary woman built upon her own chaos; Sayuri, formerly Hotaru, was kind and gentle. Standing up once more, she sighed; stray tears sliding down her cheeks as she smiled almost sadly, her expression melancholy. She knew the risks in her return, but she'd wanted to take them; she owed it to herself. She couldn't run anymore, it proved nothing.

What baffled her, was why she'd even come here. What possible excuse did she have for finding herself at the Istilaus. She wasn't as religious as what she used to be, forfeiting her rites to be a priestess nearly two centuries ago. She wasn't even aligned to this particular faith, she had her own, she followed another. But why was she here? Things were happening that she could not explain, would not even bother to understand. She simply went along with it now, believed it to be happening for a reason. Resting a hand upon her stomach, she sighed, making her way through the dust and rubble, the sunlight reluctantly letting her go; allowing her to fall into shadow. She wasn't the same anymore, anyone that knew her could see that, she'd changed.

"Why am I here?" She whispered into the silence of the cathedral, "What would bring me here, other than searching for my own truth and peace of mind?" Clenching her hands into fists at her side, she lowered her head and simply leant up against a wall, her back pressed against it. Of course, had it collapsed at random, she would have been shocked, but she was prepared for anythign these days. Nothing could shock her, she was on her quest; her own search for herself. She needed to know who she was, where she had come from, what she had married into. She needed to know anythng. Needed to find family, to be a part of something. She was done hiding, done holing herself away in bitter solitude.

The sound of footsteps soon caught her attention, the echo alerting her, her ears twitching at the sound. Lifting her head slowly, she peered through the curtain of hair, one hand straying to the knife at her waist. She curled her fingers around the hilt gently as she watched, the echo reverberating within her delicate ears. "Who is there?" She called into the emptiness, the sunlight fading slowly before her eyes, receeding away as a cloud passed over it, "Who are you?"

She was silent through most of her journey, choosing to remain that way. Naturally, she wasn't a very religious person by nature; of course at one time she had been, had held greedily on to a belief that had never been hers in the first place. Aolun always thought her parents would have wanted her to, to live in the shadow of the same god they clung to in the most desperate times. Her on the other hand, well she was rather pacified stating there was no god at all.

And if there were, by chance, how might she justify believing in one after all that had happened anyway? Where was that god when she needed it the most? Of course humans had something called free will; Aolun respected that, and greatly. However, that god up there could have at least once offered her comfort, bade her nightly demons go away for a few hours so that she might sleep in peace. It never happened of course, because she knew it as much as everyone else did deep down; god or no god, we were here to live our lives, and shoulder our pain, alone.

Maybe in the long run this was why so many people desperately clung to other people. Because we hated to bear hardships alone, and many people hated to see others bear hardships alone. But Aolun wasn't whiny at all; in fact the only people that knew what happened were the ones that were there. She imagined by now a few of them might be working in the same facility she did; their strength was by far unimaginable. Perhaps that was only because she was eight at the time.

Why was she thinking of such stupid memories in the first place? Shrugging, she stretched out, watching the sparkle of the sunlight as it filtered through what was left of the stain glass windows. Christianity had not long ago fallen and people turned to Scientology for their answers. Such a thing was dumb in her mind; humans had created god in their image, so they might believe in some sliver of hope, and relate to him. Scientology was just a cult in the end; why turn their hopes and fears to a cultist mess?

She feared it was stupid to ask that, even to ask it of herself. For in honesty, no one seemed to understand right from wrong anymore. But, that was what happened with a people that had seen more war than was humanly tolerable.

Sure, humans had a violent streak, an animalistic desire to destroy all threats; this was unavoidable and quite fact by now. On the other hand, it was stupid to presume any human could tolerate hundreds of years of war after war after war.

She paused then, stopping her aimless wandering within the derelict chapel, hearing someone calling to her nearby. Blinking, she wandered around a little, coming face to face finally with an elvish woman. Or at least thats what she appeared to be; Aolun never was too sure about them. But they had their own problems, humans had theirs, and Aolun was more than willing to leave them to theirs and deal with her own. They never struck her as open to conversation and willing to help.

"Just passing through that's all. Aolun. That's my name." She smiled a little, a tinge of pain still remaining in her arm. How she'd gotten loose in the first place, snuck out right under Suyis' nose, well she'd never understand. Maybe he did, and had let her go. At least this one was female; Suyis meant well enough, but he was male. End of conversation. Instead of helping he'd ended up scaring her on accident a few times, though she knew he'd want nothing from her aside from seeing her get well again. It was the demons, the fire in the head. It caused her to lash out at him a few times, reopening the wounds slashed across her arm, the few knife wounds across her cheek. She felt a bit of blood trickle down her face. Had it really been so short a time since then? It had seemed like an eternity.

"What's yours? I don't mean any harm, you can calm down; I'm better with guns anyway and I don't think this arm is holding any firearms any time soon." Drip. It was still bleeding. Both of them, cheek and arm. Maybe she should have listened to her commander and stayed still, man or not.

She was just passing through. Passing through. She’d grown used to people saying that now, their forms never remaining for too long near her, nor would they stay to chat. Sayuri used to welcome people, used to thrive off the simple connection with another human being; but in three hundred years, she’d shut herself off. Her duties to the Priestesses had become forfeit, her rights to her people… null and void. She was nothing more than a shell of her former self.

Releasing the hold she had upon her dagger, she straightened herself; the violet of her eyes darkened to an almost black. In the back of her mind, she could still hear the screams of the war long since passed, her husbands kind voice telling her he loved her; her daughter, once so beautiful, now unable to even whisper her mothers name. She felt the pain in her heart as she thought of them, the warmth that she used to radiate no longer with her; her own solitude having wrapped itself about her in its callous embrace.

Aolun. A pretty name, and as Sayuri observed her, she could see she was a pretty girl too. Ai was a pretty girl, the most beautiful in the world according to Sayuri; but she was gone now, and there would be no bringing her back. In one foul sweep she’d lost everything she’d held dear, her once vibrant self now so embittered, she could barely make peace with even herself. She tilted her head to one side as she listened to the girl speak, her soft voice almost soothing to Sayuri, her ears un-accustomed to the sound of another’s.

“Himura.” She remarked, her voice soft and gentle; a light smile twitching the corners of her lips, her eyes holding a deep sadness within their depths, “Sayuri Himura.” She wasn’t afraid to utter the name, she simply dared not mention her former name. It wasn’t that she was scared, it was because Yuki had always taught her to look after herself. She could before, but Yuki had taught her so much in their time together and it was a precious memory that she desperately clutched to.

Flicking her eyes to the girls arm, her fingers twitched; the urge to heal the girl fighting through from the inside, her eyes softening. “Would you like me to fix you up?” She remarked, yet she remained where she was, her lithe form frozen to the spot, “I’m quite handy with healing.” Of course she was, it was in her blood; not that she knew where it came from, considering her mother was always so secretive about who her father was. “But if you don’t want me to, that’s fine.”

At first, she didn't know how to respond, shirking away from her. What she was worried about she'd never quite understand, even years from now. It wasn't like anything... bad could happen, after all it was a woman and she didn't seem to be very conversational. There was a slight sadness with her, Aolun could tell, though how she didn't know. Instead she merely watched her carefully, suddenly on the defensive and backed into a pillar, sliding to the floor.

"If... if I hadn't... it'd be fine, a friend patched it up... but I left... I don't know why..." Suddenly she was so confused, thinking about it. Why had she left? Honestly all she'd wanted to do after the previous night's events was hide. Hide, maybe in the bathroom so when she got that dirty feeling again she could run a bath. Her arm hardly allowed for much scrubbing but she was determined enough, she'd do it anyway. That was just how Aolun worked.

'Aolun; that's an elvish name, you must be one then. I guess that means gentleness is out of the question, we won't need to worry about breaking you.' No, shut up. Go away. The fire in the head, it never stopped burning so long as you fueled it. And though she tried not to, Aolun couldn't stop. She shook her head, her good hand coming up to smack her forehead, trying to drive the demons away.

"Is... you're an elf aren't you? Is Aolun elvish?" She didn't know why she wanted to know; she couldn't be elvish, her ears didn't have the telling point to them, her parents had so easily fallen that day, the day her village burned. But then, they hadn't been concerned with their own survival, it was her own they were contending with. That was all they'd wanted, every last one of them. And though she were nearly 26 she didn't look any different than she had the day of her 19th birthday... no, she wasn't an elf how was that possible? Her parents hadn't looked it either. They were lying, Aolun was just a name her mother had made up, she'd said it herself.

"I... never mind... it doesn't matter. I... do you... have any water?"

"Elvish?" She commented, shifting forward silently, "I don't think that it is, young one." Running a hand through her hair, Sayuri breathed in and sighed. She'd forgotten what it was like to be even near someone, for so long she'd been away; keeping herself that way, so as not to place herself in any more danger than what was necessary. Even her people had questioned why she kept to herself, why she never escaped the confines of the forests. She'd lived in the shadows, hiding amongst the darkness for three centuries; now, as she stood before this girl, she could feel all the pain of long ago. The blood upon her arm causing long supressed memories to surface before her eyes, the screams of the people dying echoing in her mind.

"They don't seem to have done a very good job, Aolun." She remarked after a few moments silence, allowing herself to crouch before the girl, her finger tips pressed against the floor of the cathedral to balance. Focussing upon her, she offered a soft smile, remaining as she was, the ends of her hair almost touching the ground. She hadn't had it tidied since she'd returned, having left it as sis. The scars of previous battles acrss her knuckles, a rather deep one resting just upon her collar bone. She'd never had to fight before in her life, but Yuki had taught her how and she'd become a stronger woman because of it. She had learnt to fend for herself when he was not around to protect her, and she'd be damned if she would give up now.

Watching silently, she simply reefed a pouch of water from off her hip; the cowhide cool with the precious liquid it contained inside. Some may call it primitive of her, but she didn't mind; she'd made the thing herself. Handing it to the girl, she smiled, "Here, you can have the last of this." Narrowing her eyes some what she added, "Don't tell people that you've seen me, young one." Nodding, she got to her feet slowly, smiling once again, "Perhaps you could show me around here? I haven't been out of the forests in over three centuries." Giggling, she openly laughed, "Has the city changed much?"

Of course, she knew it would have, but it didn't hurt to ask.

"They told me... but then... they wouldn't know. They're fire elementals, they might..." She stopped, deciding not to talk about it. It just made her remember, made the fire in the head brighter, hotter. It was beginning to annoy her. "He did... I just... it... Himura?" She paused, tilting her head. Where had she heard that name before? It poked her conscious, scratching away at it, she knew it but where had...

"... Himura Satoshi..." Maybe she shouldn't say anything about him. He didn't want to be known by that name, and she was sure he had his reasons why. His entire family had changed their names after the death of one of their own. Several of their own really; it'd been a long war, he had said, and it was only natural they should deny their heritage and hide in the one place they wouldn't look for them. Who 'them' might entail, Aolun never understood, and honestly hadn't sought after an answer. It wasn't her place to ask; if he should wish to tell her, he would, in time.

"Never mind. It's a pretty name though..." It was indeed. Shame he gave it up along with the rest of the Himuras. If this woman was related to them and should wish to find them, she'd have a hard time doing so. She shook her head, flexing her hand. Taking the water, she nodded her thanks and drank; it'd been a while since she'd had anything to drink, and had refused to eat or drink while with him. She didn't trust him; she didn't trust anyone. It'd gotten her into too much trouble already. This time, she was ready for it and had fought back and for what? Her life was ruined.

"It... it's dark... lights everywhere, but very dark..." She didn't know what it'd been like three centuries ago, but she was sure it wasn't the same. She was sure it wasn't so dark then. All the lights on this planet could be lit, and it was still so very dark.

"Satoshi." She repeated, the name echoing within her mind; she knew it, or rather, she thought she did. In the years since she'd been hiding, her memory of things had slowly dissipated away, leaving her with just an empty shell. She knew the name, she did, she just couldn't remember where she'd heard it before; when she'd married Yuki, she'd of course married into the Himura family. She knew the reputation of the family, knew what demons they seemed to hold just like her own, but that did not mean they weren't hers.

Shaking her head, she dispelled the memories threatening to re-surface, the pain of losing her daughter, her two daughters really, still within her mind. Being a Himura meant sacrifice, and she'd made those sacrifices and it'd cost her plenty. Though she'd walked away, she still held the affinity with the Mother, her prayers always going to her for when she would one day return to her duties, and resume where she'd left off. The Mother had been one of many sacrifices that she'd made, one that she deeply regretted still to this day.

"It is a pretty name." She remarked finally, losing the lost look in her eyes, "My husband was a Himura. But I dare not mention his name here, not with the danger of prying ears." Sighing, she began to walk across the dusty floor, the hems of her gown dragging within the dirt, her hands clasped before her. She was like a ghost these days, haunting the shadows of what was, and what could be; her heart broken into a million pieces, forever tormented by the past. Even being back meant she may have to let those skeletons free, to actually move on, but she was afraid.

Casting her gaze back to the girl, another pang of memory spiked her. She looked so familiar to her, as if she may have met her once upon a time, but she couldn't remember. She couldn't remember a lot of things, and most of the time she dared not try to. Because when she did, she could see the fires once more, could hear the screams... could feel the people as they perished. She didn't want to feel that anymore.

"Dark?" her voice trailed off as she stopped, resting her hand against a pillar, "Yes, I remember when it was dark. Even the brightest of lights couldn't enhance the shadows. It was like walking amongst chaos herself, the tendrils simply..." she stopped, shaking her head and sighed, "What say we find some place to eat? I have been gone a very long time. I could use some company." Looking back towards her, she offered a weak smile, her irises sparkling, "What do you say?"

And still the girls face taunted her, her eyes so familiar leering out at her. Though Sayuri couldn't explain, she knew she'd seen her some place before, she just couldn't remember where or when.

This was slightly irritating in that 'what the fuck' sense. You know; one of your good friends happened to run off on you after coming to your place covered head to toe in her own blood... wasn't exactly the best way to say "I need time to myself", and aside from that, what had happened? Not exactly the smartest idea to run off and frolic in the fucking wilderness after something like that, but he wasn't going to say that.

She needed time to herself, he realized this; in fact, he was more than willing to leave her alone for a while. But he certainly didn't want her running around alone in her condition. What if she happened to bleed to death or something like that? Suyis knew it wouldn't be his fault, but he wouldn't be able to stop himself from blaming himself either.

Darting around, Suyis followed her scent, hoping to find her soon. You know, before she bled to death and all that crap. It lead him to the old church, which was surprising considering he didn't think she was all that religious. Maybe it was a hidden attribute she chose to keep silent about. A lot of people that were deeply spiritual, Suyis knew, tended to choose to keep it personal.

"Xiu...? Xiu! I know you're in here, come out before you bleed to death." He couldn't keep the worry from his tone. Suyis knew who she was, more than she knew who she was. And if it was the last thing he did, he wouldn't fail his brother in guarding her like he said he would.

Coming to a halt, without waiting for the young woman to answer, she heard his voice long before he even came close to their proximity. She noted the worried tone, and no doubt this man would have a look of concern etched into his features. In a sense, it reminded her of Yuki. Whenever she went missing and Yuki would come find her, he'd always be worried. it was if, by her disappearing, he feared the worst. Not that anything terrible had happened to her, the opposite had happened... he'd died.

Shaking her head, she turned and simply leant up against one of the pillars, waiting for him to come into her sight; an expectant look upon her face. "Well, whoever's looking for you little one certainly sounds worried. We'll wait."

It didn't take long, for soon enough Sayuri could just make out the figure of the man; but what her eyes were met with, was a vision she didn't think she'd ever see again. Her heart began to hammer inside of her chest as she watched him, her hands beginning to sweat as the memories flooded her mind. All at once she imagined herself back three hundred years, all that hurt, sadness and anger washing back over her.

She remained silent the entire time, her chest heaving, her head beginning to pound as she closed her eyes; willing the memories away. He's dead, Sayuri. He's dead. He's not there. She told herself, making it her mantra, before shouting out; almost like a reflex, "You're dead, dammit! You're meant to be dead!"

"Ho'shit, Sayuri!" Uhh... Yuki, you bloody annoying little... Suyis was a little agitated with his brother; he'd told him what to do if he ran into Ai, what to do if he ran into the Kurenai, or a Razziek, or what to do when she hit her period, but he didn't tell him what to do if he ran into SAYURI. He kind of wanted to curse but then thought better of it once Xiu fell over, a puddle of blood under her.

"Ah jeez..." He told her not to leave; it was a bad idea then, and it was a bad idea now. Just like her parents, she was, stubborn until the end. Which was probably a good explanation as to why she hadn't gone insane considering how many times this had happened. He shook his head, undoing the bandaging on her arm and replacing it. At least she was passed out this time; the first time he'd tried doing the bandaging for her arm, she'd thrown him through a wall and left.

"I told her not to move; she doesn't listen very well though. She's a lot like you, you know." He wasn't sure if she had figured it out by now, but he was talking about it like she did anyway. Eventually she'd catch on, and he knew Xiu would trust Sayuri more than she trusted him right now. It wasn't his fault; he'd done what he could, but sometimes he really just couldn't be there. Maybe if she was with her mother all the time, it would be easier to make sure the Kurenai didn't screw with her again. He was somewhat sick of seeing his niece in this condition.

"I'm not Yuki by the way. We never met; I was a little chaotic before he died, so I was never around." He said nothing more, fixing the bandaging on Xiu's arm, focusing on that instead. He didn't want to scare her or anything, but hell, there was no real gentle way of saying any of that.

Sayuri's eyes were fixated upon him, a deep longing in the pit of her stomach; her eyes misting over. He was just like Yuki, looked every bit like him, but Sayuri could see the differences; could hear them. "Yu.. Yuki..." Shaking her head, she breathed in deeply, trying to not freak out; least of all, not in front of -

"A lot like me?" She repeated, brow creased in confusion, "What..." then realisation hit her. And the memories flooded back. It was like the gates had been opened and a torrent of emotions, of thoughts, of everything... rushed into her mind. She remembered. Vaguely. Of a little girl, one she'd had with Yuki just before he'd died... but she'd been lost during the war. "My..." she fell silent then, running a hand through her hair and simply shook her head, "No, just... no."

Watching as he re-bandaged her, she tilted her head to one side; simply observing him. Yuki had never mentioned a twin before, unless he had... "Satoshi?" She commented, the name ringing a bell from earlier, "Satoshi Himura?" Speaking slowly, she breathed in, as if still trying to comprehend what'd just taken place. It was all too much for her, she'd only been back... "If you're...."

Sitting down ehavily, she breathed in again, gently pressing her finger tips to her temples; before muttering softly in elvish beneath her breath. Mostly it was curses, and words of prayer to the Mother. She could hardly believe this was happening all in one day, she'd been alone for three hundred years, and now? Now she was thurst into a family unit, small as it seemed to be for now.

"I know he died." She said simply, "I watched as Ai as she threw herself into the tree. I felt Yuki die." She spat the words, her mind throbbing, her chest hurting. Inside, her heart was breaking into more shards; pieces of herself ebbing away from her soul, it was like she was simply empty and that nothing about her existed. She was once warm, and kind; a gentle being. Now she felt cold, callous; almost bitter to a point. "And here you are, the image of him! And I can't help but feel anger, mainly at you." She knew it wasn't his fault, but all the resentment she'd been hiding was slowly coming to the surface, "And this girl? This girl is mine and Yuki's?"

Yes, Sayuri was confused, hurt and feeling like she should run abck to where she'd crawled out from. She didn't want to face this anymore, but the Mother's voice was whispering in her ear; and she dared not ignore it.

"Satoshi Himura... I thought I'd lost that name by now. Eight thousand years and it seems everyone still remembers my name. ... I should have expected as much." He still didn't turn to face her, taking care of Xiu first like he'd promised Yuki. It was too late now; far too late to change anything at all. Knowing his twin he would have likely referred to Suyis as Satoshi instead of the former. Just as Suyis himself still saw his sister as Hisayo. Yuki and Ruaan had been a little stubborn about the name change decision; they didn't see the reason to hide their heritage because of the Razziek, and didn't. Ruaan stayed within her ice crystals, choosing to hide a different way.

A lot of shit the Himura line has been through.

"Hn, I figured you'd react somewhat like that. I figured a lot of people would blame me, just as I blame myself sometimes. But it was his time to go, she told me that, and I don't question her anymore." He turned then, shifting to have a seat and pulling Xiu into his lap. She'd likely freak out the moment she awoke, if they were still here when she awoke, but being thrown through a stone wall wasn't so hard to cope with anymore. He'd dealt with worse, even before he was a Shaeda.

"Yes, she is. Yuki told me where she was, in a dream, many years later. I've been watching her ever since, as he made me promise not to let her get hurt anymore but I can't always be here. I told him that, but he just smiled at me. He's confusing now. I named her Xiu Mei; it means beautiful snow. I thought that sounded like something you two might have named her, if given the chance." He paused again, shifting her around so that she wasn't laying in a pool of blood anymore. Xiu had been a rather difficult girl to gain the trust of. It'd been several years since the first time, but she still hated anything with a penis. Who knew, really, when a man would get horny, so he really didn't blame her at all.

It'd been a hard battle, getting her to trust him, and then just like that, in one night, less than 4 hours, it was all shattered. Oh he wanted to show them the meaning of fear, but... well it wasn't his battle. He'd be there for her, sure, and try as much as he could to help, but getting her revenge was up to her, and he wouldn't have it any other way. The Mother did some strange things, but he figured this was a means of making her a strong woman. When she is able to help defeat them, be able to love again, be near her uncle without shaking in fear; that is what the Mother wanted, and Suyis didn't need to ask anyone to know that. Thus, he wouldn't interfere, no matter how much his brain screamed at him to.

"I'm almost surprised she talked to you, though that said you are a woman. She doesn't trust easily anymore. I'll likely regret getting near her, but I promised him."

She was silent as he spoke, simply watching him; her heart aching. Pulling herself up, she went towards him, a protective look in her eye; the familiar maternal instinct shinging through. She didn't know why, or how, but she knew she had to take responsibility again; even if it was all new to her. Reaching forward, she gently removed her from his lap, a look of bitterness in her eyes, before sitting down again. Adjusting her so she was able to be comfortable in her lap, she palced her arms about her protectively; staring him down.

She'd seen Yuki in her dreams once, but it was only the once; and she'd refused to dream again after that. It hurt to not be able to touch him, to hold him, to not be able to speak with him as she used to. She missed falling asleep in his arms, to have him speak softly to her as she fell asleep. She loved Yuki, she would never stop loving him, but she felt like he was taken away from her far too soon.

"It is." She remarked after a while, "About the name. It is something we would have named her." Looking down, she smiled, just a little, allowing her finger tips to gently caress the girls hair; just like a mother should. She missed being a mother, missed being able to call someone her child; she'd had that taken away from her twice, but she felt now that the Mother was giving it back to her. Even if it was piece by piece.

"I've been gone a long time." She said softly, looking towards him, "I lost everything close to me. Lost everything that really mattered." Looking down, she sighed, "yet, the mother has given me a most precious gift. She works in mysterious ways." She remained silent for a few moments, simply watching and smiled, "It's nice to finally meet the man with the name." Looking towards him, she watched him; simply observing him, "I guess this means I can't hide any more?"

He didn't stop her; she had more of a right to hold her than he did, especially since he'd already had more time with her than she had and she'd given birth to her. Things ended; there was an end to everything that began, but then the Mother had told him once, a long time ago, there is always a beginning that follows an ending. Always. Sometimes, you just can't see it.

"You did, at least, as far as I know. But, maybe it's time it all came back. I'm sure you could hide, there's no doubt of that, but I don't think it'd do any good anymore." He went quiet again, listening to the wind outside, watching the sunlight dancing about the flooring. If he stopped, if he watched and listened, if he really paid attention, he could see it. See it all; from the very beginning of this, to now, sometimes even later, everything that had happened and might possibly happen. It was confusing, but he felt that perhaps Asha herself had drawn them both here, to meet one another finally.

She always said he had the Sight, though it wasn't until far later that he really noticed it.

"Things are changing; I don't even need to step out of my apartment to know that anymore. I'd like to live in peace for once." He paused, watching Xiu for a moment before he shook his head. "The Razziek have returned, and the Kurenai are making a mess of themselves. Perhaps this is the time Ruaan spoke of so long ago. ... I wonder..." He trailed off, thinking about it. She'd been hiding for a long time, he knew that at least. Near three thousand years now? If he did his math right. She probably hadn't met the rest of her family either.

"I know where the rest of us are, if you might wish to meet them. The rest of the Himura line I mean. Ai's sons, their children, and their children. On and on... I think you're a great great grandmother now. That said I'm pretty old myself."

Say what?

She was a what?

"Now I feel my age." She remarked, a dry look in her eyes, "If I ever look my age, I'll throw myself into the Fountain of Youth." Nodding sagely, she laughed, glancing down at the bundle in her arms. She could remember holding her as a new-born baby, and how it'd felt to simply have her there. The pregnancy had been long, and painful, she could remember it clearly now. She didn't exactly make it easy on anyone, she was like a drow really.

"So, I have a few extra chitlins?" She smied, "Always knew Ai would be the one to continue the line. Even if I couldn't." She laughed, "I remember my grandchildren when they were born, but now they've had children? My, my." Shaking her head she sighed, resting her head back against the pillar. She remembered a time when the family had been at peace, when there was nothing happening; when they were all together. Safe. She missed that and she wanted it back.

"I'd love to meet my family." She said, eyes closing, "I'd love to meet my... great great grandchildren." Snorting, she grinned, "Besides, I think now would be as good a time as any to resume my family duties, amongst others." Peeking an eye open, she looked towards him, "I saw this you know. I knew I'd meet someone from the family, I just don't see clear people anymore. Not like I used to, perhaps the Mother will allow mys econd sight to return. Mm?"

"I said the same thing... good thing we're elves. ... or, well you are..." He snorted at himself; Suyis had never been an elf. He was always an earth elemental. Until of course he had a little... accident.. and ended up with the voice in his head. After a few thousand years, it got tired of arguing with him and they chilled out. Now he and the extra voice were actually very good friends.

"Mm, there's Lior and Asmodeus, Ai's sons, all grown up now. Asmodeus is the current ruler of hell... don't ask. Had himself an affair with a drow and out popped Titania and Vehiron... fraternal twins and you really couldn't miss it with how protective of one another they are" he paused, thinking some more. "Ruaan's sons are still around, Sohiel and Kaharii. And Vehiron has a mess of daughters, and a son. Not sure if he has more sons... and Titania just gave birth to a baby boy, Helios." He was sure he got them all...

"It may be a bit difficult getting Asmodeus up here and finding Vehiron... but I don't figure it'd be that hard. The rest tend to hang around my place. I must be the block party master or something, I don't know... maybe it's because I've always got food and a shotgun." And then they all found enemies that couldn't be hurt by a shotgun. Meddling little...

"Anyway. I wouldn't mind you sticking around; everyone shows up eventually, so you'll probably meet them all after a while." He smirked a little. "By the way, when you meet Vehiron, smack him; he's a man-whore and won't admit he's in love with Shynriia and ask her to marry him already. It's getting somewhat agitating."

"Vehiron still around? Jesus." Laughing, she shook her head, "I've come across his little one, Thetis? She's a treasure." yes, she'd met Thetis a long time ago now; back when the child has first been born, when Heledir was still alive and kicking. "Yes, Vehiron I have heard is a pain in the arse to track down; just find a wench, I'm sure he'll be not too far behind. Or in front. Whatever he prefers."

Falling silent she shook her head, she could still remember when Vehiron was but a small boy, along with his sister, though she rarely ever saw them much. When Ai had passed away, she stopped seeing them altogether. So she'd missed out on a fair bit over the course of time, preferring to hide herself away; even from her family. It was nice to know it'd grown some-what over the centuries. "Thetis, she would be all grown now, wouldn't she?"

She would imagine so, not that she would know; she could remember how proud Vehiron was when she'd been born. Could remember the celebration he'd held for her, until she'd been given to Titania. Then he'd withdrawn into himself, but she knew it'd been for good reason. "I would say that I'm not surprised that the family is so big." Giggling, "It's nice to know that it continues growing, even if it is ageing me."

Falling silent, she mulled his words over and nodded, "If I ever find Vehiron. I will be sure to belt him for Shynriia. I think I met her once, beautiful girl. He's an idiot for not admitting his true feelings, you'd think he'd behave properly!" Watching Suyis, she remarked, "I think we owe this to the Mother. She's bought the family together again. Funny thing destiny." Standing up, she held her daughter close to her, "Perhaps we should get this one some place safer than a rickety old cathedral?"

"Oh of course he's around... around indeed..." Well, whatever floated the man's fancy; long as he didn't bring any... problems... like STDs... marital issues... to his doorstep, Suyis was just happy letting him do whatever he pleased, and indeed he did. Suyis wasn't really the strict type; he found it far easier to just warn kids and then let them decide for themselves. Of course, some things needed a nice pop in the mouth, but his method had served him well over the course of several children. Six children, all somehow related to him, he'd raised now. Well aside from Momiji, but the Yamada family was good friends with the Himura line, so he might as well have been.

"Yes, she is. She's had a daughter of her own now, with Jeranith if you remember him. He's not exactly the greatest at romance and such, but it seems to work out. Lien's a sweet heart, I think you'll adore her." He smiled, standing and nodding. Though this cathedral had once been the Mother's, it belonged to the wild now, and it wasn't exactly safe at all.

"I suppose I should lead the way then, since you probably won't recognize the city. It's all different now; the government finally managed to improve the cities and it's somewhat confusing for those who survived the first wars."

That was some-what un-expected. From the whispers she'd heard, Thetis was far in-capable of even raising her own child, let alone bearing one. But children seemed to bring joy to everyone, so maybe the child would be good for Thetis. "How did Vehiron take the news? He was always against the Dekkan's wasn't he? Unless they were being ridden."

She remembered Jeranith, he was Titania's Dekkan. Strong creature that he was, firm and reliable. She'd met him all of twice, much like her own grand-children, but she'd been left with a good impression all the same. "Thetis has chosen well in any case, I'm sure he will make her happy."

Glancing about the cathedral, she sighed; whatever had drawn her here, she was greatful towards it. She wasn't sure why, but she knew she was. Silently thanking the Mother, she nodded towards Suyis and arched an eyebrow. "If you're going to lead the way, hurry up then. I don't fancy getting lost in the city, regardless of how much it has changed."

She'd imagined it would be different, but she hoped it wasn't all that different to when she was last here. Though she'd survived the wars, just barely, it was still nice to return to some place familiar. If it was utterly different, she wouldn't be too impressed; coz it would mean that everything was different. "It hasn't changed that much, has it?" She was almost worried, "I should never have left..." and she laughed.

An odd sound, even for her.
