She was never one for big crowds, unless it involved her family; which most of the time it did, and her older sister would force her to socialise anyway. So, finding herself here, amongst the crowd of lowly creatures she liked to call civilisation; she was at a loss as to why she was even there. She guessed it was due to the fact she and her fatehr had been arguing once again, mainly over her lack of motivation to join him in the labs. She wanted to do her own thing, not follow in the family footsteps and start a monotonous career, one which would only lead to her becoming absorbed into her own insanity.

She'd watched as her father steadily fell into his mind, his life quickly becoming his work; his love for his family disspiating, his attention upon his precious research. Her mother, the total nitwit that she was, still fawned all over him; adoring his every move. Most would tell Atarah that she should be lucky to have such a dedicated father, she didn't think she was lucky. It was fun growing up at least, because he wasn't obsessed then; he at least spent time with the family. But since Pandora had joined him, as well as her other elder siblings, he'd been more concerned with his work than his family.

Sighing to herself, she bought her beer to her lips; the now warm liquid burning her throat as she drank it down, her emerald eyes glowing almost dangerously beneath the dim light of The Centaur and the Priestess. She didn't suppose it was too bad in there that evening, no one had come to annoy her yet. She was glad for that, meant she wouldn't have to politely decline any drink offers, or turn away any nitwits that thought her to be easy pickings. Really, just because she was female and alone didn't make her easy.

Tracing her finger tip around the rim of the mug, she let her gaze wander as she took in the place. To one side she could just make out the beginnings of a bar brawl, two thugs already going at it fists swinging; clearly drunk. Behind her, she could hear the whispered conversations, the dull humming of her own thoughts thumping inside of her brain. Twitching, she easily moved herself up from her seat and sashayed back towards the bar, leaving the empy mug to rest upon her table. If she was lucky, she might be able to sway the tender to lend her the use of a jug, so she wouldn't have to continue pulling her arse up all the time.

Leaning against the bar itself, her hair fell over her shoulders ind ark waves; her pale skin illuminated beneath the soft firelight, her finger tips tapping the surface of the bar in silent irritation. "Excuse me? Is someone going to serve me, or am I just going to have to help myself?" she remarked, an eyebrow arched, "Because I'd be happy to do that."

A plethora of things bounced around in her head, her crimson gaze remaining trained upon the drink in front of her. She didn't intend to think about much when she had come here, but sometimes it was hard to avoid. For instance, the omnipresent... thing, for lack of better term, that she had sensed a long time ago. It grew stronger, darker. Far darker than she herself could claim to be.

And there was that odd feeling she got whenever she passed a particular place of the forest. The Morwen, if she remembered its name right. So named by the elves due to its endless expanse of darkness. It wasn't always a kind forest, that was certain at least. Such was the reason she found it rather startling, but it could merely be a wild Dekan, maybe a Shaeda. ... well if it were a Shaeda they most likely would have attacked the instant she drew close. And the Dekan were near blooded out and killed off. If it wasn't a Dekan and it wasn't a Shaeda then, well what was it?

She let an audible sigh out, watching the sparkles within her glass. Wine was an interesting beverage; even for her, it held a deep bitter tang to it, one that she couldn't for the life of her get used to. She'd been born in a rather respectable family; the Nightbanes of course, well known in many places on this planet. Even well known in the Hell Layers, but this could merely be because they were generally demonic. Kasaya on the other hand, got the short end of the stick and was stuck with drow heritage. Not that she was whining, it was worth it sometimes, but other times she just kind of wished it'd disappear.

So she was generally used to merry making that involved some sort of fancy wine. Demonic barons, really. They had their ways of flashing their wealth and prosperity around, usually with some expensive brandy or fancy wine. Honestly, the Nightbanes would be perfectly happy having a chat over a glass of tea or juice. 'Unbecoming', that one baron had said. What was his name... Kasaya couldn't remember. Well, she'd killed him after the meeting anyway.

Quietly, her crimson gaze drifted to the woman at the bar. For some reason it seemed this woman in particular wouldn't hesitate to reach over the bar. She shook her head slightly, sipping the wine in her glass. "She's in the rest room," Saya intoned, placing her glass delicately back onto her table. "The server I mean. She's expecting a child soon, but since there's no one to take her place she refused maternity leave. She'll be in there for a few minutes. Early morning sickness."
