I don't know how, but I never posted this back in December, and I just read it and it's a good article: Lee Ann Womack takes it easy Taking time off is long overdue, singer says. That's why show will have laid back, intimate feel By CASSANDRA HINOJOSA Caller-Times December 7, 2006 ![]() This holiday season, Grammy Award winner Lee Ann Womack has made her Lee Ann Womack & Friends tour a top priority. After all, it's been in the works for a long time. "I have been really trying to take time off, which I haven't done in 10 years," said Womack, who was visiting family in Jacksonville. The show features Womack playing an acoustic set with Cross Canadian Ragweed's Cody Canada, Stoney LaRue and Wade Bowen. The Corpus Christi date is the last of the eight shows planned. "I just love those guys so much," Womack said. "It's like all of a sudden, I have all of these brothers. This has been several years in the making as far as the idea and seeing it come to fruition." The idea for the intimate, laid-back concerts happened one night in Nashville. The musicians sat in a hotel room, singing and passing around the guitar. "The crowd will get to see what we do on the bus or in somebody's living room or in a hotel room where we're just totally having a good time and playing some of our songs and other people's songs," she said. Womack is working on her album Finding My Way Back Home, which she says weighs heavy in traditional country. It should be released early next year. Her video for the title track "Finding My Way Back Home" was shot in Austin. When choosing material for her album, Womack looks for something that really moves her. "Sometimes they're big old hits and sometimes they're not, but it really is more important to me to find a song that means something to me because I've got to sing it forever," she said. "I think of myself as being more of an artist and a singer than a radio hit machine." Following in her mother's footsteps, Womack's 15-year-old daughter Aubrie travels with Womack and sings and plays guitar. Womack also has daughter Anna Lise, 7. To relax, Womack says she likes to do "as much of absolutely nothing (she) can get away with." That would be by reading and watching documentaries and independent films. "To me, silence is golden," she said. "There's just noise everywhere I go, whether it's practicing music or listening to music. It's just a lot of noise, so if I can things to be quiet, that helps me a lot to unwind." Earlier this year Womack made her big screen debut in the drama "Noble Things" and she has recently thought of producing a clothing line. "I've done everything I ever wanted to do in this business and had a great time," she said. "I just think the one thing I didn't think about was doing everything and at the same time, having a good time. That's what I think this whole tour was about was making music and just having fun. I think that's my goal for the rest of my career." ======================== Very interesting article! I enjoyed reading it |
