Here's a snippit of an article that mentions Lee Ann, and it's interesting.

Top talent: Joe wins $250,000

TEMAGOG’S Joe Robinson has won the second series of the TV show Australia’s Got Talent.

The prodigiously talented Robinson, 17, beat off fierce competition from 13-year-old singer Jourdain to win the title and pocket the $250,000 winner’s cheque.

It has been a meteoric rise for Robinson, who tomorrow jets off overseas to record his second studio album in the United States.

The quietly spoken youngster said the win still had not sunk in when The Argus caught up with him at his home in the Upper Macleay this week.

Relaxing ahead of his busy US trip, when he will work with some of America’s best known country artists in a whirlwind two-month tour, Robinson said he had never dreamt of making it so far in the competition.

.....

Already the US Country Music Channel has approached Joe to star in a documentary about the making of his studio album, while country music legend Lee Ann Womack has also agreed to a guest stint on the record.

This article mentioned LAW and Joe Nichols concerning his last album:

"...The new CD [Real Things] includes a superior version of Merle Haggard's 'If Only I Could Fly' as a duet with Lee Ann Womack. "I've loved that song for a long time and Lee Ann came in and she's so beautiful and classy and she nailed her part.

"I'm always listening to lots of Merle. On the bus I'm also enjoying a bluegrass musician named Bradley Walker and I've really gotten into early '70s Hank Williams Jr.," said the award-winning singer, who is also listening to his heart and those friends and associates who truly care about his well-being. One thing I thought I'd mention: it is not a duet, but Lee Ann does sing beautiful background vocals in the great song.

In New York to promote her new album, Call Me Crazy, she also performed Wednesday on The Early Show on CBS and Thursday (Oct. 23) on Don Imus' syndicated radio show. Lee Ann Womack Makes Last Call
By: Jennifer Anderson

Lee Ann Womack is slowly climbing the charts with "Last Call", the debut release from her new album Call Me Crazy. Womack tells us that the song struck her from the beginning. "I wasn't a hundred percent sure if I was going to cut it the first time I heard it, but I knew I loved it. So we saved it and saved it. And we came down to the end of the session one day and we went in and cut it and I'm so glad we did it. 'Cause I love the feel of it. And I knew lyrically that I liked what it said. Usually I'm the one doing the calling. (laugh) And I love it. I'm really, really proud to have it as the first single."

Womack has confessed in the past that she absolutely loves sad and moody songs. She says that even though it might help her career to sing more light, uptempo tunes, she continues to be drawn to heavier fare. Still, she looks for songs that take listeners on a journey: "I don't often like uptempo songs. You know, everybody has to have their thing that they do. Instead of looking for uptempo songs, I try to find songs with energy. Even "Last Call," you might not consider to be uptempo, but it's got really good energy in it, a good drive. You feel like it's taking you somewhere. That's more important to me than uptempo."

Womack says that she thoroughly enjoyed working with producer Tony Brown on his album. He observed that she "thought too much," and he encouraged her to just focus in on what she needed to do.

Brown just earned two CMA Awards, for producing George Strait's Album and Single of the Year.

From kansascity.com:

Lee Ann’s legs

Those are really Lee Ann Womack’s legs on the cover shot of Call Me Crazy in the middle of modern graphic design.

“The label has some really creative young people working there, and they wanted to show the more fun side of me,” she told the San Antonio Express-News. “And the reason it is retro but modern is that it’s kind of the way the music is, so it all fits together. I’m always trying to bridge the gap between traditional country and what’s going on today. I think it’s really important to hang on to the tradition of country music and to show people it can be fun and we have a good time doing it.”

Call Lee Ann Womack Crazy

By: Jennifer Anderson

Lee Ann Womack is climbing the country charts with "Last Call," the debut single from her new album Call Me Crazy. Womack tells us that while artists often name their albums after the title of the lead-off single, she instead chose to borrow a line from the song. She was also a little concerned about how much her husband Frank Liddell loved the idea: "Well, I thought about calling it "Last Call". And then I thought that sounds a little too much like a Bob Wills' record or something. And it was Jason Owen here at the label, his suggestion to call it "Call Me Crazy". And I mentioned it to Frank when I got home, I said, 'What do you think about "Call Me Crazy"?'And his eyes lit up, and he said, 'I think that's perfect.'I'm not sure what that says. (laugh) But he said 'I think that's a really good album title.'"
Perhaps one of the reasons Call Me Crazy seems to fit Womack is that she admits she can be a bit frenetic in the studio. She credits producer Tony Brown for helping her to focus her efforts. "He flat out told me, your problem is you think too much. And nobody has told me that before and he couldn't have been more right. You know, creative people, we like have ADD. And we're running around and we want to do this and we want to do that and all these ideas. And Tony was really good about getting it all on tape."

Call Me Crazy features guest vocals from George Strait, Keith Urban and Womack's daughter Aubrie.

The Nashville Lifestyles section of Nashville newspaper The Tennessean features Womack this week. It picks her as one of the six musicians who define the Nashville music scene.

Brown has won numerous awards, including the two trophies he won last month for producing the CMA Single and Album of the Year, George Strait's "I Saw God Today" and Troubadour.

About Womack's album, Brown states, "Out of all the records I've done --and I've done a lot -- this is gonna be one of my proudest moments."

Pick of the Week: Womack's 'New Again' is a standout
By Elysa Gardner, USA TODAY

Few singers shoot from the hip or the heart as adroitly as Lee Ann Womack. This gentle account of love's restorative powers, from Call Me Crazy, reveals a tenderness as irresistible as her wit and sass.

Lee Ann Womack Recalls "Last Call"

Feb. 18, 2009 — Lee Ann Womack was nominated for a Grammy Award as a solo artist for the fifth time in her career this month. Her performance of "Last Call" didn’t actually win, but just getting the recognition as one of the five best recordings by a female country singer this last year was proof that her work is being noticed.

The actual session was quite a breeze.

"I loved the song ‘Last Call,’" Lee Ann told the national radio show GAC Nights: Live From Nashville. "I wasn’t 100 percent sure that I was gonna cut it the first time I heard it, but I knew I loved it. So we saved it, we saved it, and we came down to the end of the session one day and we were trying to decide, 'What are we gonna cut for this last song?' And we went in and cut it, and I’m so glad we did, ‘cause I love the feel of it, and I knew lyrically that I liked what it said."

The bridge of "Last Call" also provided Lee Ann with the title for her current album, Call Me Crazy.

The Grammys may be in the rear-view mirror, but the "44th Annual ACM Awards" are on the horizon. Lee Ann’s nominated for Top Female Vocalist in the ceremony, set for April 5 in Las Vegas. The other finalists include Miranda Lambert, Heidi Newfield, Taylor Swift and Carrie Underwood.
