Man, I have not updated this thread in quite a while! :o

Let's see....no news about any new album from Lee Ann yet.

Uhh...she sang background vocals on some newer albums by Joe Nichols (Real Things), Gene Watson (In A Perfect World), and for Cross Canadian Ragweed (Mission California).

Hola! Man, I am ready for some new LAW. I guess she is reworking the album...adding some new songs and taking some away....

Hopefully soon. :(

But HOLLA anyway.

Holla, how's it going Mark? Good to see you!

Yeah, I guess the lack of radio airplay of FMWBH really did something. I don't know why they aren't releasing a new single to see how that does. I wish they weren't driven so much by getting a profit and just release an album b/c it was great, quality-wise.

This is not NEWS per say, but I thought it was worthy of mentions here ;) :

Someone uploaded a video of LAW & Alan Jackson singing "Golden Ring" on the Opry here:
http://youtube.com/watch?v=6pnxClzpm-k

And the "I May Hate Myself In the Morning" music video is now available for purchase on iTunes! (it's been up there for a while, but I kept forgetting to mention it!):

It's not really new news, but it's good to know: iTunes has the music video up for "Mendocino County Line" - Willie Nelson & Lee Ann's duet:

I bought it last night :D .

I'd say it's much better than the news that's come out lately, i.e. not much. Thanks for posting it, Whoa-mack! ;-)

No prob :).

Here's a snippit from a recent interview with Cross Canadian Ragweed interview:

Q: Lee Ann Womack sings backup on the record. How did that come about?

A: We did a show with her at the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo ... she got up and sang with us during the show, and it was an instant friendship. We went to the bar that night and hung out and had some beers, and she's just been one of the guys ever since. So it was just a phone call.

Here's an interesting snippit from an article about new artist, Sarah Johns - here is what she said in part of the article:

Quote:

"You do have to progress. Even Sara Evans who started off so strictly country. (Her first CD, Three Chords and the Truth was extremely traditional, but when that didn't sell very well, she went for a more modern sound). I think there's a way to progress, but still keep those country roots on your albums, and she's done good at that. Lee Ann Womack has done good at that."

...Later in the article, it even mentions how when she grew up, she sang songs of Patsy Cline, Martina McBride, Alison Krauss, and Lee Ann. She says how Tammy Wynette, Loretta Lynn, and Lee Ann are her influences. And then Sarah said:

Quote:

Womack "is incredible. She's very honest in all of her stuff too. Her last record [There's More Where That Came From] was one of my favorite records that's been out in years."

"She [Lee Ann] loves my record [Big Love In A Small Town]. She [Lee Ann] said 'listening to my record was like oh my God, thank you Jesus. Here comes somebody who's going to carry the torch'."

- I highly recommend Sarah Johns' music to anybody who is a fan of Lee Ann or George. Her debut album, Big Love In A Small Town, is one of my absolute favorites from this year and behind LAW's for my most favorite debut album from anybody, so that's saying a lot! You'll love it :D .

hahaha...yes! I love that song. . I really think you'd enjoy Sarah's music because it's very traditional with some contemporary sounds in some songs. Just listen to the first songs on the album and you'll see how great it is.

I guess I'll have to check Sarah out then. She's influenced by Alison, Martina, and the LAW!! Not to mention the legendary ladies (that all country females are influenced by)

My cousin Sarah got married in September, and her husband's last name is Johns. Then I saw Sarah's CD in the store not long after that. I thought it was funny. I thought about getting her the CD for Christmas, but that seems a bit cheesy (that and I'm sure that a lot of other people probably already did)

So I guess I'll have to like her for two reasons then.

Yeah, and Sarah is opening for George right now too! :D

I never knew this until tonight, but did you all know that Lee Ann sings a song called "Love Will Still Be There" on the movie, "September Dawn", that came out last year in 2007? I looked for a soundtrack for the movie with the song but I don't think it exists.

Travis Tritt, Lee Ann Womack Party at the Derby

May 5, 2008 - This weekend's Kentucky Derby ended in an unexpected tragedy when the second-place horse, Eight Belles, was severely injured and euthanized after completing the race.

It put an unfortunate damper on an event that is typically a big party draw. This weekend was no exception. Travis Tritt and Lee Ann Womack were among a long list of celebrities who were on hand for the race and for the Barnstable Brown Gala the night before. Others who made it out to Churchill Downs included Smokey Robinson, Kid Rock, Hugh Hefner, Joey Fatone, Anastasia Brown, Michael McDonald, Chelsea Clinton, Tennessee Titans quarterback Vince Young and former Supreme Mary Wilson.

"It's a chance to sort of get away from the kids, spend some time by ourselves," Travis told the Associated Press with his wife, Theresa, at his side.

Travis performed at the party Friday night, and he had a perfectly good explanation for coming back to Louisville year after year for the Run For The Roses.

As he told TV station WLKY, "We're invited."
