- LOS ANGELES, CA Thursday Oct.27.2005-- After Lee Ann Womack performed at the Lili Claire Foundation benefit last week in Los Angeles, she bumped into a fan of hers.

"After I sang, I was being escorted to my seat and who should grab my hand to say hello but Fran Drescher. She's a very sweet girl and I've seen her at events before but every time I do I'm overwhelmed with the urge to ask her to laugh. She always has a big smile on her face just like when you see her on TV."

- "The band’s last album, 2004’s Soul Gravy, featured the song "Sick and Tired" and did manage to get played on Country Music Television, but that was largely due to the song and its video featuring country superstar Lee Ann Womack on background vocals, and after the video’s run, the band disappeared from the network.

"Garage" will not likely see any CMT action — no Lee Ann Womack on this disc — which is a shame, because mainstream country music listeners and CMT viewers into the likes of Shooter Jennings and Dierks Bentley would love this band. "

Lee Ann Womack

OK, onto spitfire country singer Lee Ann, who is tied with Brad Paisley for the most CMA award nominations this year — six. (The ceremony airs Nov. 15.)

"Politics — I'm not too crazy about how celebrities feel," she said.

And why is that? Ronald Reagan and Arnold Schwarzenegger (among others) convinced plenty of folks to care about how celebrities feel.

"Well, now, if you want to shut up and run for office, go ahead," Lee Ann said. (Note to Ingraham: Next book title, "Shut Up and Run for Office"?)

Added Lee Ann: "I just get sick of it. I did during the election — seeing celebrities tell people what to do. I don’t like it. However, I do like to see celebrities who don’t point their fingers, but do support causes like [breast cancer]."

One reason she supports women’s issues is because "I've been told that my music really speaks to women. Be it funny or serious, a lot of my music is geared that way. I can't help it — I'm a mother. I have two girls, and so it's important for someone who can to lend her time and talents to an event like this."

I couldn't let Lee Ann go without mentioning the horrifically embarrassing moment I saw recently on "The View". Dolly Parton was guest, and host Joy Behar fawned over Dolly, saying how much she loves her song "I Hope You Dance" — which, of course, is Lee Ann's, not Dolly's.

"When I heard about that, I was mortified!" said Lee Ann, who "worships" Dolly and appears, along with Norah Jones (search), on Dolly’s new recording of "Where Have All the Flowers Gone."

"However," she added with a smile, "I am glad Joy likes the song."

Back to the question of whether stars should say what they think, if you're not familiar with Eve Ensler, all you have to know is that she wrote a play with the word "vagina" in it. This is clearly a woman who speaks her mind. In fact, she's made a career of it.

"Lee Ann Womack declares that she recorded her CMA-nominated, and highly traditional, CD There's More Where That Came From to please herself and not radio programmers. "This record was obviously not a conscious effort to get on the radio," says Lee Ann. "Not that it's not commercial, but I think people could tell I wasn't trying to please everybody with this." Lee Ann also promises that she'll continue to do traditional-sounding country numbers like her current single, "Twenty Years and Two Husbands Ago." She says, "Twin fiddles and steel guitar is not what's happening right now. But I know there's an audience out there that loves the hard-core country stuff like I do."

"Still, Lambert says she was terrified of the prospect of facing the world's most acid-tongued fashion critics, as did Lee Ann Womack, a 39-year-old veteran of the country music scene. "Don't think that hasn't crossed my mind," Womack says. "Both the positive and the negative of bringing our style to New York....

"Country is not something you put on and take off," Womack says in response to the pressure to dress for the red carpet. "When the Dixie Chicks first came out and people said they don't look country, that bothered me. You can't get more countrier than me."

Referring to her newest album Those Were the Days'' , Dolly said in an interview;

"I love all the people; I made a lot of great friends. I love them all for different reasons. I really loved singing the song 'Where Have All the Flowers Gone?' because I love a delicate little song where my voice can soar, and also getting to sing with Lee Ann [Womack] and Norah Jones because our voices blended so well. Lee Ann Womack,There's More Where That Came From (MCA Nashville). Her sound had drifted toward inconsequential pop, but the hitmaker makes a brilliant course correction with this set of mature, classic-sounding country."

"Seems blue-eyed, corn silk-maned chanteuse Lee Ann Womack keeps all her songwriting notes in a bag made out of an old Willie Nelson shirt. Sometimes, that leads to a little confusion, born of Willie's legendary pastime. Said Womack: "Every time I say, 'my Willie bag,' everybody's like, 'Yeah, roll me one.'"

"Melissa Hayes says she didn’t feel like Christmas shopping for herself this year.
That’s because in the weeks prior to the holiday season, Hayes was busy shopping for one of the biggest stars of country music, Lee Ann Womack.
Hayes is a personal assistant for Womack, who won the Country Music Association’s (CMA) awards for single and album of the year in 2005. Womack first gained international attention in 2000 with her hit song, “I Hope You Dance.”
Hayes said she essentially gets Womack’s daily “to do list” for her personal and business lives. She helps the country music singer prepare for tours, she organizes Womack’s clothing and assists with her children, ages six and 14.
“She’s great to work for — I wouldn’t call her a diva at all, because she’s so cool and a friend, not just a boss,” Hayes said.
Hayes — who graduated in August from Belmont University in Nashville, Tenn. with a degree in music business — said she hopes to continue working for Womack indefinitely...
Morgane hopes she has found recording magic with Frank Liddell, Womack’s husband. She has been working on pre-production material with Liddell since August...
Melissa said she’s experiencing the good times with Womack’s career at a high point.
“It’s fun to be a part of something that you believe in,” she said...
The Hayes sisters will be singing backup vocals for Womack at the 2006 MusicFest in Steamboat, Colo., they said..."

"Lee Ann Womack will never forget an incident from CRS 2004.

'It was in between albums for me, so I was able to enjoy myself a bit more since my schedule wasn`t as packed as it usually is during CRS,' she says. 'I made some new friends at radio, caught up with friends that I had known since the beginning of my career and was able to enjoy a few drinks.

'Unfortunately, the next day I was performing at the MCA luncheon in front of a crowd of radio folks and, feeling a bit under the weather, I completely blanked out on the lyrics of `I Hope You Dance,` of all songs. Lucky for me, most of the audience was hung over too and had a good sense of humor about it.

'I still get teased about that during radio interviews sometimes,' Womack adds. "

X Radio recently spoke to Lee Ann Womack, who says that when she set out to make her CMA Award winning album, There’s More Where That Came From, she wanted the project to reflect who she is. "It’s very much like my first record," she says. "I told [producer] Byron [Gallimore] when we sat down for our first meeting about the record, I said I wanna make a record that’s very much me, that is reflective of where I came from geographically-- which is Texas--and where I came from musically--which is real country music.” Lee Ann’s latest single from that album, “Twenty Years and Two Husbands Ago,” is currently inching its way into the Top 20.

John Corbett ran into Lee Ann Womack in Kansas City yesterday (2/22), and invited her to his show last night. To his surprise, she showed up.

It wasnt long before Corbett got Lee Ann on stage at the Grand Emporium, where she sang "I May Hate Myself in the Morning" with his band.

She then sang backup with him on the Haggard hit "Mama Tried" and Waylon Jennings' "Only Daddy That'll Walk the Line," to close the show.

"Singing on stage with the CMA female vocalist of the year in the middle of Kansas City is one of those, 'I just cant believe this is happening moments,' says Corbett. I'm blown away."

Lee Ann Womack, the reigning CMA Female Vocalist of the Year, wowed fans and critics with her award-winning CD, There's More Where That Came From—and apparently, there is more! Country Weekly has learned that Lee Ann will be in the studio during the middle of March to begin recording a new CD. No word yet, though, on when that might be released. We will keep you updated.

Wow getting set to record new material already. It seems like only yesterday TMWTCF was released. I can't wait to see what direction she will go in on her next album. Has Lee Ann ever done duets on her cds ? I know she has done it for other people. It would be nice if she had a duet on her new album.

In a recent interview on CMT's Top 20 Countdown, she gave the hint that the next album would follow in the same lines as TMWTCF :hyper: . She even said one song would be called "Hide And Go Cheat" . I hope there is more uptempos on this one....love her honky-tonking ones. Can't wait!

I think the only duet Lee Ann has on one of her own albums (Lee Ann Womack) is "Make Memories With Me" with Mark Chesnutt :) .

At the funeral of legendary songwriter Cindy Walker:

Among those in attendance was singer Lee Ann Womack, who won three Country Music Association awards in 2005, including Single of the Year and Album of the Year.

Womack said though she never had the opportunity to meet Walker, she has long loved her music, and hopes one day to record a tribute disc. She said her personal favorite is "Dusty Skies," a song Walker wrote at age 12 about drought-stricken Oklahoma during the 1920s.

"I remember hearing that song when I was a little girl, and I was so moved by the images it stirred up," Womack said. "I have been a huge fan of hers forever."

http://www.middletownjournal.com/featr/con...L_0328_COX.html

Along with musicians and old-time country radio personalities from across Texas, he (Leon Rausch) had crowded into the Presbyterian church in Mexia on Monday morning for her funeral. We talked by phone when he returned home to southwest Fort Worth.

He sounded more than a little bit disgusted.

"I didn't see a big representation there from Nashville," he said, saying Lee Ann Womack was the only star of today he saw in the crowd.

"I was upset," he said. "Here's somebody who has written so many great songs, songs you still hear every day."
