These will include little news from articles or quotes about LAW that aren't big enough to have their own thread: about Alan Jackson's song "Monday Morning Church" on his just released What I Do cd: The song was almost recorded by Lee Ann Womack, but Jackson says he’s glad he got it instead. “It’s about trying to survive after you’ve lost a loved one and just how every little thing you touch or see stirs up the memories and makes it hard,” Jackson says. It will be the next single. http://msnbc.msn.com/id/5964679/ |

Faces in the crowd: While country-western headliner Lee Ann Womack dined last week with three woman friends at Lonesome Dove restaurant, a rumor circulated that her husband (Frank Liddell) and fellow musician, Drew Womack, was playing at the White Elephant Saloon. Only part of that story was right. Drew was playing at the Elephant, but he isn't married to Lee Ann -- forget that same-last-name thing. However, they do make beautiful music together. He's her backup singer. http://www.dfw.com/mld/dfw/living/9638022.htm?1c |

Universal Music finished up their series of four consecutive weeks of SACD releases on Tuesday with the release of two new County Music discs. The new Surround Sound SACDs are Shock'n Y'All by Toby Keith and Greatest Hits by Lee Ann Womack. Also newsworthy this week was the launch of a new web site by the Decca Classics Group that highlights the 10 Mercury Living Classics Super Audio CDs that come out this month in Europe. Both moves are part of a program label officials site as on their way to have a hi rez catalog of 350 SACDs and 35 DVD-A discs available worldwide by the end of 2004. Greatest Hits Lee Ann Womack SACD Surround Sound/SACD Stereo/CD Stereo (MCA Nashville B0002840-36) Lee Ann Womack Greatest Hits is the singer's latest album and is now available in an SACD Surround Sound edition. It features 12 of her greatest hits as well as two brand new songs. The sticker on the album notes that it includes the hit single "I Hope You Dance" which I'm told was a hit on both the Country and Adult Contemporary Charts (reaching the #1 position on the Country Charts). It also says that the disc has a "new low price" but I assume that refers to the price of the Stereo CD edition of this album since it is selling for $18.99 as are all of Universal Music's Single Disc Hybrid SACD releases. According to the album liner notes, the 5.1 Surround Sound mix on the Greatest Hits SACD was done by Greg Droman. As with the Toby Keith SACD mentioned earlier, this SACD was mastered by Hank Williams at Master Mix and made by Sony DADC in Terre Haute, Indiana. The 5.1 Surround Sound mix on the SACD places Womack's vocal in the Center speaker while using the Surround Sound field for solo instruments and to highlight other elements of the mix. On song 7 (I Hope You Dance), the backing vocals are spread across the Surround Channels creating a very full sound field. All in all, an enjoyable SACD for fans of the singer. Album Selections 1. Never Again, Again 2. You’ve Got To Talk To Me 3. The Fool 4. A Little Past Little Rock 5. (Now You See Me) Now You Don’t 6. I’ll Think Of A Reason Later 7. I Hope You Dance 8. Ashes By Now 9. Why They Call It Falling 10. Something Worth Leaving Behind 11. Mendocino County Line (with Willie Nelson) 12. Does My Ring Burn Your Finger 13. The Wrong Girl 14. refering to the America Will Always Stand cd: "The standout song on the album is Lee Ann Womack's On A Woman's Heart, a tearjerker about losing a loved one to war. Womack's soaring soprano over slide guitars and dulcimers definitely brings a Appalachian Mountains feel to this heartwrenching track." -Imani Mosley http://www.qcknightnews.com/news/2004/09/2...By-734169.shtml |

After the trip to the bar, Womack sang for some lucky listeners in the US 95.7 Rest Stop, her only San Diego performance. Womack is the latest talent to make an appearance. Clay Walker, Gretchen Wilson, Big and Rich, Katrina Elam and many more have already stopped by. |

article on singer Mindy Smith: "As a Parton protege, Smith met several other ``heroes and mentors.'' Lee Ann Womack invited her to sing backup at a big industry show. Alison Krauss recorded her song ``If I Didn't Know Any Better.'' She was photographed for a spread in Vanity Fair with Parton and Emmylou Harris. -Songwriters of Sara Evan's #1 country hit "Suds In The Bucket": "We were sent to write this song for somebody else, but they passed," Jenai confided. At the urging of the reporters, she revealed that the "somebody else" was Lee Ann Womack, who, at the time, was looking to take a more country direction with her music. http://www.cmt.com/news/articles/1494934/2...?headlines=true Wow ...I love Sara's song but would be awesome if Lee Ann sang it too. |

Talking about Blue Bell ice cream: "Luckily for Blue Bell, there are a lot of transplanted Texans living in Nashville. One of the transplants happens to be a pretty successful country singer named Lee Ann Womack. Often, if you ask a famous performer for a comment on something of this nature, it might take a few hours, maybe a day or two to get a response. Womack answered in minutes. "I just bought a house in Texas, but now I'm gonna sell it. What's the point if you can get Blue Bell here?" she replied via e-mail." - http://www.thetennessean.com/apps/pbcs.dll...0/1077/FEATURES |

Talking to Naomi Judd... "Q: If you could enjoy a dinner with four other musical superstars, who would be at the table and what would be on the menu? A: I'd invite my good friends Martina McBride, Tim McGraw, Faith Hill and Lee Ann Womack over for a casual meatloaf dinner, of course. We'd just gather around my kitchen table." , that'd be a fun dinner to be at! |

"Ingram is especially pleased to have Womack join the festival, especially after the release earlier this year of "There's More Where That Came From," her acclaimed album that harkens back to her country roots with a package of cheatin' and drinkin' songs that takes some of the polish off previous pop-country efforts such as "I Hope You Dance." "She's had such a great year that I'm surprised she would have the time to come," said Ingram, who became friends with Womack after her husband, song publisher Frank Liddell, produced his "Electric" CD. She also sang background vocals on the album. Ingram also stars as the guy Womack picks up in the bar in the video for "I May Hate Myself in the Morning," which was in heavy rotation on CMT and nominated for hottest video of the year. "I just got to act cool all day and dance with Lee Ann," Ingram said. Unusual for a mainstream Nashville star, Womack, a native of the East Texas town of Jacksonville, also is friends and fans of alternative country groups such as Cross Canadian Ragweed. She sang on "Sick and Tired" on their 2004 CD "Soul Gravy" and has appeared at their shows. "She's from Texas and understands the spirit of what we do, that independent streak that everybody has down here," Ingram said. "She digs it, she gets into the excitement of people making music that they believe in." - http://www.mysanantonio.com/entertainment/...m.11a82ed4.html |
