I haven't watched American Idol all season, but since Gwen Stefani is being featured tonight, I thought I would watch.

I have heard on various programs how bad this season has been and I couldn't agree more with that sentiment.

Most of this season's contestants are HORRIBLE. I don't know how they ended up with this group. Carrie Underwood has more talent in her pinky finger than some of these "singers".

*cringe*

She is quite gifted. She has a wonderful range, and her vocal control is very good. I hope she has a fabulous second album (one day).

Hi everyone!

Couldn't agree with you more 24 on American Idol. I watched it last night and wasn't really thrilled with the competition. I tune in every Tuesday to see who the guest coaches are. That's about it anymore.

Good evening everyone! :wave2:

I'm sorry I haven't replied about the learning Chinese thing yet from TribbleMom, but I already know a bit of Chinese, and you're right about it. It's probably the hardest language to learn for an English speaker anyway. It's the only widely spoken language left in the world that uses characters as words (much like Egyptian hiroglyphs) instead of letters and phonic sounds that make up different words. Not to mention that each word is a different word depending on how you say it. (There are four different tones to each word.) Take that into account with the different dialects and writing styles and soon you wonder why you decided to make it so hard on yourself.

Spanish is a walk in the park compared to Chinese! But without Chinese, I would never have gone to China or lived in Taiwan, and it's worth that alone. I'm also kind of facinated with Asian culture, so it's almost essential I learn it. The good news is though once I become fluent within a few years, this is an advanced language course, I can work as an interpreter for companies doing business with China when I get back to the states, maybe even from home using my computer. :woohoo:

My daughter (almost thirteen) is finding Spanish to be much easier than the other languages she is learning. Those derivatives really help her piece together words in other tongues.

...and that Sanjia (sp) kid. Geeze, with the hair last night. If he wins (or someone as poorly talented) wins, then I will know AI has officially become a joke. At that point, they need to take the show off the air.
