I watched the premeire of October Road this evening. It shows promise.
I'll give it a chance.I have been looking for a new one hour drama to get into. There is nothing like watching new episodes of a show on TV each week. Much different than watching re-runs or a show on DVD that you have or haven't seen. I miss that excitement of looking forward to a new episode of something each week. I am watching a few shows now that are fine, but I need something different. |

^^^ I like hearing that you enjoy t.v. shows. I am thrilled to have watched a couple of new ones over the past two years. I seem, however, to be myopic when it comes to shows. I just focus a lot on one or two at a time, for whatever reason. |

I've been working my tail off at work to get caught up again. And it has finally paid off. Then this afternoon I found out that I have to travel again next Monday and Tuesday to conduct some training in a branch facility in Glenwood Springs, Colorado (which is ultimately OK, as I can then enjoy the hot mineral springs pool in the evening -- see the "rant" thread for other details). Then I found out that the local old defunct Rocky Mountain Arsenal, which has been transformed into a wildlife sanctuary, is going to be releasing a herd of bison this Saturday morning ... and I have a tour with the Sierra Club scheduled for the afternoon. How cool is that? I also scored concert tickets tonight to see the next performance of the Celtic Woman singing group at the Red Rocks amphitheater this coming May. So all in all, today was a good day!

Wow, that is cool! I have never seen bison in person before.
I have been hearing more and more about this group lately. Sounds like they are an interesting vocal group. ------------- Goodnight and good morning Mfive! And a good morning to everone else! It looks like it might be a rainy day here. The rain is coming down pretty hard right now.

24, Yes, they are an awesome group of women with angelic voices. I saw a taped performance of their last show called "A New Journey" and they did an acapella rendition of "Over the Rainbow" that knocked my socks off. Their voices blend in seamless harmony. One of them is only 17 years old, but has a strong, pure soprano. If you can ever catch this perfomance (perhaps on a local PBS channel), do so. It's a real treat. Good morning, everyone. |

^^^ I've watched their concert on PBS a few times. I guess they're the female counterpart of the "Irish Tenors". I agree with TribbleMom on this one, their voices are angelic.
Releasing bison? Friendly reminder, do not be anywhere in front of the bison when they are released.
You live too dangerously TribbleMom. What's new in dreary Pittsburgh besides the murky rivers? Well, we're supposed to get that wintery mix of snow, rain, freezing rain... you know all that good stuff. It went up to 70F just last Wednesday. Wierd weather. My car is in the shop today. Cars are like people (or so the car dealer tells me ) and they need their check-ups too. I dread paying for that 30,000 mile check up but I'm not handy with cars and I'd probably put windshield wiper fluid into the brake line instead of transmission fluid. So I'm going to stay home and bug you all today. |

I'll keep my eyes open for them. I haven't watched PBS in a long time. I used to love watching this station when I didn't have access to so many others. They need to work out some issues with how it is funded, but I think it is great that PBS is still around. They provide a lot of educational programming. Not to mention one of the few places a person can still go to see a bit of international programming (e.g. Masterpiece Theatre, BBC News). I received a lot of intellectual encouragement from PBS, simply because it introduced me to the world.

Speaking of PBS, did you know that the very earliest episodes of Sesame Street (1969-1974-- which I watched faithfully with my younger sister) are now available on DVD? I discovered this yesterday. I loved those early years.
