Not sure, I have never heard someone with a lisp say lisp.

Arrgh, when I am taping something I can't watch another channel.  I want to watch Charmed!  It was an episode that I missed the first time around.  Oh well.  I'll catch it eventually.

Do you by any chance have a tv/vcr combo set? I had one of those before, and it was the only time I couldn't watch something while taping something else. It's because the set has only one tuner, whilst if you had separate tv and vcr, that's two tuners.

No. I have a separate TV and VCR/DVD player. When I am watching regular (free) TV I can watch any channel I want while taping another channel.

However, when I have the satellite on, the channel has to be set to what I am actually taping.

There are more advanced setups than what I have that allows you to tape and watch what you want (Digital Video Recorders, TIVO). I don't have anything like that though.

We have the same situation with cable because we only have one cable box. Fortunately, we have a second cable outlet and can get the first 100 channels on another TV without having a cable box (it's an old TV - that's why only 100). So we can watch some things while taping on the regular TV. We can also reverse which TV is doing the taping if we need to watch the higher channels. Since we don't watch a lot of TV, that doesn't happen much though.

I was listening to the radio the other day and there was a commercial on advertising Restylane and Botox as a great gift for Valentine’s Day.

I was thinking, oh yeah, there’s nothing more that says I love you than a gift proclaiming you have too many wrinkles.  :rotfl:

 Uh-oh... I guess I'd better exchange that gift I got for my wife...

;)

We'll expect better of you next year. ;)

Next year will be better for sure. I'm thinking of getting her some Depends. ;)

I got an email from my boss last night asking me if I want to continue working for her for an extra five weeks. Next week would have been my last week. I don't know what to do. I want to keep working there, but I don't think I can keep working 6 days a week. And I want to be off on Saturdays. I mention that last part is because she will probably want to give me Mondays off if I bring it up. The reason I work Saturdays is because I finish early on Thursdays and go to college. But since I skipped to grade 12 level math I can afford to miss five Thursdays. She once told me that she can't change my schedule unless there's a justifiable reason. Well this would be a separate project, so if she can't change it, then I finish in less than two weeks instead of seven.

If she can't give me Monday to Friday shifts, I will decline.

thanks.

I know it might sound petty because work is work, but there's also the transportation problem. It costs me a lot of money to pay for taxis to get there. With my working, I'm supposed to be making an extra 200$ a month at least. But I'm spending more than that on taxis. So that turns out me being broke all the time. :S

^^ That doesn't sound petty. People work to better their lives. If your job is hindering your life instead, then you have to do what is necessary to change that.

Hopefully your boss will work with you on wanting that one day off.

GMel,

I hope you make the best decision for you, your studies, and of course, your daughter. :) I love Saturdays--it has been my favorite day of the week for years.

It sounds as though your boss values you, which IMO is a good thing, since this strengthens your hand. Maybe you can ask for more $$, esp. given the taxi cab fares?

Please keep us informed with regard to what you do.

I can't really ask for more money, because it's a government project, and she has no control over how much they pay me.

I told her that I would only stay if I could have a Monday to Friday schedule, and she accepted. :)

So she made the demand for the posting, and we'll know soon whether I'll be re-accepted. Since it's a different project there are different conditions for me to be accepted, and I'm not sure if I meet them yet.

Here’s the thing. Oftentimes, when women spend a lot of time around each other, their monthlys will synchronize. When men and women spend a lot of time around each other, they oftentimes will have “off” days at the same time.

We may not be physically in the same location, but we (you, me all of us who spend time together on the Boards) are emotionally and mentally around each other a lot.

That is why you are also having an off day.

At least that is my current theory. ;)

That's great news. Now just to get the "re-acceptance"!

Here in the sunshine state it started out nice and sunny this morning. By 11am or so, it was cloudy and overcast. Now it's black and pouring rain. I just can't wait for the rainy season.

GMel,

Good for you (on the schedule being predicated on your terms).

I hope you get it. I know what it's like to play the waiting game....
