I really dislike these days where I come to work with a whole agenda of things to get done and, by the end of the day, not one thing on the agenda got done because several other people had a different idea for how I should spend my time. [/rant]

That is definitely rant worthy. What a pain.

Is it perhaps time to start up a Rant thread? I can always split your reply off and create a thread.

No that's ok. Maybe when I have a really good rant I'll start one. That is, unless someone else beats me to it. :D

IE,

I have had those days.  Usually, they consist of many meetings.

Mine were not meetings. It started with an outside company that has access to our internal servers who decided to change their firewall (in case anyone doesn't know, that's a special computer dedicated to security usually between the inside network and the outside internet). They were having problems and so they called me to help them work out their issues. They couldn't have picked a worse time to do this. I'm already swamped at work as it is.

Then all kinds of other things arose - people needing answers to why their reports weren't giving the results they expected, people having problems with their computers for whatever reason (mostly user related, not equipment), and my employer assigning things on top of the pile I'm already trying to get out from under.

Ah well, we'll see how today goes. It's already starting with the company and their firewall issue calling me again to continue in about 10 minutes... Maybe I'll get to MY agenda by Friday.

IE,

Job security? J/K. I do know how those days can go at times. Sometimes (not too frequently, thankfully!) I just stay home if I know I will not be very productive at work.

BTW, how is the little one improving? :)

Cindy is still sick, but she's under the care of my step mom today. So I was able to come work.... I wouls have prefered to stay home with her though. Ah well.

How is everyone today?

GMel,

No two days off for you in a row. I won't allow it. ;)

No kidding! I'm not the least bit worried about job security.

That is, unless I get caught spending time here...

My daughter is doing fine, thanks. I'll be happy when she gets those stitches pulled this Thursday though. Keeping the wound clean while trying not to mess with the stitches is getting old. Also, we have to cover the wound to keep it clean whenever she out of the house. After a day of being at school, the gauze pad tends to be stuck to the wound and pulling it off gets... well, sticky.

Glad to hear she's doing better. How old is she these days?

^^ I'm sure he'll answer that question as soon as he gets rid of all of those pesky people in his office. ;)
