I think it's mostly a head cold. She's pretty stuffed up, but not coughing. She was kind of feverish last night, but that seems to have passed. I gave her half the contents of a Neo Citran pouch with hot water last night, since the full pouch would have been too strong for her at her age. It helped her sleep.

GMel, I'm hoping she makes a full recovery soon. I sometimes take a day or two off here and there to help care for my little ones when they are sick.
24, You may need to write the instruction manual on how to unwrap and eat them one day. BTW, did you know that there is a history (and a neat story) behind candy canes? I learned about it two or three years ago.

^^ I seem to recall something about a Priest inventing them to keep kids quiet. The Food Network is always doing something historical on food.

^^^ Probably. I think it also has do to with the stripes and Jesus. I'll look it up. Here is one site I found discussing the history. But there are several others. http://www.noelnoelnoel.com/trad/candycane.html |

^^ Thanks for the link. I suspect that is only one version too. However, I do think the candy cane we see today probably does have some religious aspect to it. We can attribute many foods and traditions (even those appearing secular) to religious practices of some kind.
Even head colds can be pretty annoying. Good thing she is sleeping it off some.

Brussel sprouts are good... especially if you cook them in butter. Warner, There was once a monk who lived in a small town in Eastern Europe. This monk was one of a group of monks who took a vow of poverty to better serve the Lord. One day, this monk was extremely hungry not having eaten for days. He walked out into a field of weeds and got down on his knees and prayed to God. He said, "Oh Lord, I serve ye. I ask for your guidance and for you to point me in the direction of something edible for myself and my brothers. We will use this nourishment to better serve ye." Just then, he heard a loud noise behind him. Coming up the road was an old man sitting in a cart being led by a donkey. The old man said, "Hurry up you bloomin' donkey, we are going to be late." "Faster, Russell, faster." The cart's wheel drove over a big rock and a basket of green little vegetables bounced out onto the ground. The old man looked back and said, "Oh forget it, I don't have time to pick them up." The old man was on his way. The monk walked over and almost fainted with joy when he saw the vegetables. He had never seen them before, but had a feeling that they were edible. They looked like baby cabbages. He picked the basket up and took them back to the thatched home where the monks were living. They all rejoiced in glee at this find. They put the vegetables in a pot to boil them. Once they were cooked, they poured some in a bowl for each of the monks. They said a thanks to God for their bounty and dug in. While one of the monks was chewing the vegetable, he asked the monk who found the food what they were called. The monk said he didn't know. The old man never said what they were. He only mentioned the name of his donkey.... Russell. The monk said, a donkey named Russell? He found that humorous for some reason and started laughing. Of course he was chewing his food at the same time and started coughing. What came out when he said Russell again, sounded like "Brussel". That sounded funny to all of the monks and before long all of the monks were laughing. So the monk that found the vegetables decided to call them Brussels. Brussels soon led to "Brussel Sprouts" because of the short stature of the monk that coughed up the name "Brussel." The End.

24, I just thought of something. Are you scouting another Board in order to see who might be recruitable? If so, I think that's wise.

^ I'm always on the look out. But if you are wondering why I visited the place that will remain nameless today, its mainly because there are a couple of issues being discussed there that I felt it important for various reasons to add my personal opinion/vote to. I also needed to send a PM to someone (someone we've recently discussed). |

^^^ No. It was the day that you first came back (maybe Saturday)? I can't recall when that was, but I wrote: Isabel!!!!!!! Welcome back. So, I can welcome you back to this Board just as well.

^^ Okay, I didn't see it for some reason. I'll go over there and remedy the situation. I know what threads I have replied to since I posted the other day.Edit: I have now responded. See the thread equivalent to this "Coffee Talk" thread over at the site that will remain nameless.
