I ran the 5 mile race yesterday and finished in 39 minutes, 43 seconds. I would have been happy with anything under 41 minutes, but was hoping to make it under 40 minutes (because that puts me under the 8 minutes per mile pace) so I was very happy with that time. :)

Thanks Swidden and 24. :) I still have a long way to go to reach a marathon, but I'm getting there little by little. My next race goal is to finish a half marathon (13.1 miles), but I'm not sure yet when that will be. When I can finish at least 10 miles, then I will decide.

A friend of our wants to do the Hawaii Marathon this year. He's trying to convince us to join him and his family for the trip at least.

Mini-Swidden, my 5 year old, is an eager traveller. So, he's clearly voting for taking the trip.

Hawaii... that sounds worth the trip alone.

Just a quick check-in :) We're in beet harvest (sugar beets) and I get today off since both boys are driving trucks. Teen is driving big brothers truck (a straight truck with a box that lifts on a hoist to dump the beets out of the end) and oldest is driving my semi (18-wheeler) since he has a CDL. I'll try to post pics if anyone is interested ;)

My oldest sons truck last year. He has the end gate up and he raised the box up so he could scrape the dirt off to make the gate close all the way. He has his Casey memorial magnet on the front of the box. He had it on this year, too. I drove this for the last two days of harvest. Got 12 loads on Monday and 15 loads on Tuesday. We are finally done with sugar beet harvest! WOO-HOO!

Harvest last year, I'm next in line to load, in the rain

One of the other semi trucks loading, I'm next. This is the same kind of trailer as mine.

An end dump on the piler

My truck a few years ago

And we got our corn in! Before the snow yesterday, too :happydance:

Cool shots Fowler!

Seasons are wrapping up around here too. Best market berries are about done and the freezer crates are coming out more often.

Go to google, and notice the new years eve version of the google sign. Look in the top, left hand corner of the symbol. You'll love it. :D

Those are very cool pics^^^

well, this country is on fire again, there are some major bushfire just a bit further down south which has destroyed quite a large number of properties. Its been so hot here lately, there were a number ofdays which were about 43 (109 F) - 45 (113 F), I think the top temperature recorded was 48 (118)

Anyway enough about that, I think the most exciting thing that has occured in recent days is just house sitting my neighbors house ... yep thats it.

Hi all :wave2:

I'm just stopping through to say hello. I've been kind of a stranger lately. Things at work have been non-stop and one of my employees left recently so I have had to handle his responsibilities on top of my own. There has been no time to spare there. At home, it has been the holidays, helping my daughter with school work in the evenings, running in the mornings and on the weekends, and taking care of the household responsibilities. So I haven't had much free time there either.

Oh well, better busy then bored. :D The only real exciting thing going on is I'm signed up to run a 1/2 marathon (13.1 miles) in March. So I'm really looking forward to that.

I'm also really looking forward to the new Star Trek movie coming out in May. I re-watched the last one over the weekend and I'm even more excited about the new one now.

I hope all is well with all of you and I hope your holidays were great! :)

Back from some time off myself IE. Mrs. S took some time off after the holidays. Mini-Swidden's school district has an unusually long Christmas break (due to a high percentage of kids of migrant workers), so we figured it was a good time for some family time. Wish I could say we went some place exciting and adventurous. Nope, but we did do a number of day trips.

That still sounds nice Swidden. Some of those day trips can be great times. :)

I didn't get much time off over the holidays; just the holidays themselves and half days on the 24th and 31st. I was going to take a few days off, but then 4 high priority projects came up at the end of November that had to be done before Jan 1st. So I had to postpone any vacation time.

^^Thats cool!

There is a Former cyclone heading my way, in fact the system is so slow moving that its going to take two full days to pass over us. Ex-Tropical Cyclone Oswald is going to hit us tonight and over the next few days, I will be taking lots of pictures. My location as many of you would've seen is very isolated and the weather conditions up here are far worse than downtown currently. Take a look: http://www.bom.gov.au/products/national_radar_sat.loop.shtml I live about 15km outside the edge of Brisbane city. For those who aren't aware of Brisbanes situation here is a map: http://www.world-guides.com/images/australia/australia_map_country.jpg

lol, today is actually Australia Day and everyones plans up here aren't going well.

Anyway will keep you updated on the situation.

Edit: The storm is spawning tornadoes, for those who don't know Tornadoes are extremely rare in Australia.

Edit #2: Three Tornadoes have now been recorded about 150 km from Brisbane. They are warning people in the south (My area) that we are going to also be in danger of these! :o

24, would you be able to move this to Zero Gravity Cafe? :) Thankyou
