So! The DC trip! Would anybody here like to see a few pics?? :)
Sure would. Haven't been there in about five years or so.

It was good, actually! It never rained when we went out during the day, but I went on a run in the morning and it just poured. But it was nice. Not too humid, either. There was one day where it was really hot, but that was about it.

I still do need to post those pictures here, don't I? I'll get around to it, I promise. :)

Hello Nimor! It's really good to see you! How have you been keeping? What is the weather like where you are? Here in the United Kingdom it's cold, wet, and windy at the moment, which is not quite the summer i was hoping for. LOL

Hi everyone. :wave2: I haven't been here for awhile (again) and thought I'd stop by to let you know I'm still alive and see how things are going? Work is keeping me swamped and home life has been pretty busy as well so that's why I've been a stranger lately.

I'm still running every day and have another 5k race planned for July 4th. I'm much more motivated with the running this year than I was last year. In fact, I'm considering possibly training for a marathon down the road. For now, I want to see how the running goes for this year while increasing my distances and make sure the body holds out. After I finish up a year of running, I'll re-assess and see if I think I can do it. I was close to being able to run a marathon back when I was in college - I completed a 17 mile run without any stops during one cross country practice - and I've always regretted that I never ran a marathon. But that was close to 30 years and a knee surgery ago so now I have to make sure I don't develop any serious physical issues first before I can really consider seriously training. And available time will be the other factor since it will take hours on some days. Anyway, for now I'm just having fun and the marathon dream is keeping me motivated.

Otherwise, not too much is new. I did get an iPhone recently and am wondering how I ever got by without it.

Hello ImpulseEngine! It's really good to see you! I'm truly impressed that you are continuing to run, and even contemplating running in a marathon, while also being extremely busy with your work and home life. :thmbcool:

As for me, nothing much has changed since you last posted here. I'm still unemployed, but i continue to search for new vacancies everyday and apply for any that are suitable. With any luck my efforts will be rewarded sooner rather than later.

I wish you good health and the very best of luck with your forthcoming 5 kilometre race, and hopefully you will soon have a little more free time to spend here with us! :D

Hi Goliath,

Thanks for the well wishes. I'm sorry to hear you are still unemployed, but it sounds like you are maintaining a positive frame of mind which, of course, can only help you. I hope you find employment soon. Keep at it and I'm sure you will. :)

Hello ImpulseEngine! Thankyou very much for your words of encouragement, they really help me to maintain my positive frame of mind in a situation that can all too easily become depressing.

Well, should you lose it, damage it, or have some terrible mishap that denies you access to it, I hear the withdrawals for iPhone (Galaxy's, etc.) are worse than hardcore narcotics, nicotine, and alcohol combined... :wow:

Good to see you around here Impulse!

Okaaaay, someone pass the Geritol...

Earlier today the Mrs. shows me a receipt from a place where we stopped and got the little guy a chocolate dipped ice cream cone the other night. Asked me if I noticed anything about the total on the bill. I'm thinking, "Oh great they overcharged me and I didn't catch it." Nope, I look at the bill and see near the bottom a line that reads "10% Senior Discount".

Even 50 is a few years off yet, but somehow the teenage clerk thought I looked... Well, you do the math...

 about the iPhone withdrawals.

And, what's your secret? You got senior discounts before AARP? :P

By the way, how is your 10k training going? Your race must be coming up soon too, isn't it?

Hi IE! Good to see you. :hello:

Glad things are going well for you!

STF => Congrats on your distinction in the national geography competition! :highfive:

Swidden,

I recall you saying you have a beard. That will add 5 to 10 years on your looks. I know you prefer to have a beard though. If you have grey in your beard, you could add a touch of Grecian Formula and no one would be the wiser. If you don't want to go that route, keeping the beard short and trimmed should help too.

Unless you have tried all that... then sorry. :P

Grey (more salt than pepper) on the head probably has a lot to do with it. That started showing up right around the end of high school. Beard is getting whiter too. Plus, I am a firm believer in letting nature take its course.

IE, the race is in the latter half of July. So, a little over a month from now. I have been actually running more to prep for it. Figuring it is a good idea to actually do as much of that during the race instead of walking it.

Haven't decided if I want to go au natural when the grey takes over. I used to color my hair for years just to change things up. However, it got to be too high maintenance. At least once every 3 -4 weeks if I didn't want my natural hair color to show too much at the root. I haven't colored my hair in about 12 years now though. I have a little bit of grey, but it is not very obvious yet.
