Dusty and dirty and then rainy

And a traffic jam of trucks

I'm next to get a load of beets on my truck

Hope these aren't too big
Wow, are you driving one of those big rigs Fowler? :wow:

That's pretty cool. Thought there would be more greenery for some reason though.

Are the top photos the receiving station... and the bottom photos your farm?

Yup, I drive an 18-wheeler :) My plate on the tractor ( or cab ) is 1701 ;)

These pics are from the first day and second day digging beets. We were at my brother-in-laws farm. There is more green, hubby is in the defoliator and that pulverizes the beet tops then the digger comes through and digs or pulls the beets out of the ground and load them into the truck boxes or trailers. Some have cages that are side dumps. All of our crews trucks are end dumps.

Hubby and his two brothers all go together and we harvest all of the beets. Oldest brother-in-law drives the digger/puller and his wife drives a straight truck and their son drives a semi, hubby the defoliator and I drive semi with our oldest son driving a straight truck and other brother-in-law drives a straight truck with his son driving a semi, and that nephew got Casey's picture on magnets that we have on our tractors and trucks so he can be with us this harvest. It's bittersweet seeing his picture every day and every load. But it was very sweet of Richie to want to do that.

We're on the last field today, I think it's about 95 or so acres. Hopefully we'll get this one done fairly quickly. I'll try to post more pics later. I should get lunches made and I need to oil my trailers chain.
That's pretty impressive that you all drive such big vehicles.

Nice tribute to your son. Tragedy happened to your family, but with the harvest you have had to forge ahead anyway. Farmers know all too well about nature waiting for no man.

We got done yesterday! I do think that Casey was watching over us, as well as my dad-in-law, because we had very few breakdowns or problems this year. Hubby and his brothers were cleaning the defoliator and the digger after we finished and they found a bearing that was bad and a bolt that was bent. And the bolt was one that holds on a pair of wheels on the back of the digger.

Our oldest has taken my truck and is helping our nieces hubby and dad-in-law finish their beets. They have a circle and a half left to get out and had some of their drivers leave them so they were down to two semi's with cages. So with our semi and poss. one more semi they'll be up to 4, three with cages and one end dump.

We had parents night at the high school last night. They recognized the Football parents, Cross Country parents and Cheerleader parents. And they were also honoring Breast Cancer Awareness, too. We got pink balloons from the cheerleaders and released them when our team had their first touchdown, their only touchdown that game ;) Casey would have loved it! Although I don't think he would have let his balloon go :) Hubby and I learned that we aren't quite ready for such a big crowd yet. But we did get to tease a 2010 Senior about being 'Hollywood' :happydance: He and his dad, sister and cousin are on that show on History called 'Harvest' Brandon just grinned real big and did an 'Aw, shucks' kind of reply

Yes, I'd have to say that Luck goes to the Dolphins, problem is Miami may not get the #1 pick. They may have to fenagle a bit. One thing, though- I don't think that Sparano should be fired. He's actually not a bad coach.
