I have discovered that roasted walnuts are NOT good.  Eating them fresh or cooked in a desert is okay.

I roasted a pan of pecans, peanuts and walnuts yesterday.  The pecans and peanuts turned out good (as always).  The walnuts tasted like... I can't even describe it.  Just don't eat it.

I have never roasted nuts. The ones that I have had were always bought already roasted. Is it just a matter of heating them in a pan? (Don't worry, I'll stay away from the walnuts. :D)

Now how come the phrase "... until Hell freezes over" comes to mind? :wave2:

Mostly. You spread your favorite raw nuts out on a baking sheet (pan). I like to use halved pecans and raw peanuts. You melt a half a cup of butter in the microwave and poor the butter over the nuts and mix them all around until they are all slightly coated and in a single layer on the pan.

Sprinkle a little salt on them and roast (bake) them in the oven at a temperature of 325° or 350° F. There isn't a set time. Sometimes it takes 30 minutes. You just have to make sure you pull them out before they start to burn (get too dark). The peanuts have to be cooked to the point where they no longer taste raw.

When you pull them out, sprinkle a little more salt on them. Sprinkle a pinch of sugar on them. Let them cool completely.

Salt and sugar are optional depending on your dietary needs. The butter, well... you could try it without the butter, but I think it tastes better with.

With the batch I made this weekend, after they cooled completely I poored them in a ziplock back and added Nestle white chocolate morsels. :wow: The mixture is really good.

The only reason I can think of is... other. ;)

As I was reading that I was thinking "hmm, I may try this". But when I read the white chocolate morsels part at the end, it changed to "I'm definitely going to have to try this!"

I was actually all alone in the room when she called. I sometimes say I'm busy anyway...I'm such a bad daughter... lol

I'm required to speak French at my work. :)

Has anyone talked about coffee yet in this thread?

Sure, all the time. ;)

“Coffee talk” is a phrase used to describe people gathering around, having a bit of conversation and drinking their favorite brew. At least it is here in the US.

It was also a popular skit on Saturday Night Live with Mike Myers. He dressed up as a woman and hosted a morning talk show called, “Coffee Talk”. It was pretty hilarious.
