Another "great" day at work today. Our phone system appliance bit the dust late Friday and was down all weekend. That brought all our phone and fax lines down. We have systems in place that automatically generate and send out followup faxes and then they update our database to indicate the followups were made. So, this morning, I came into not only the dead phone system, but also almost 2,000 faxes that never went out and were marked failed. So the appliance had to be swapped out, the fax data had to be regenerated, and the database entries had to be corrected. It took until about 3:30 this afternoon to get it all back to normal. :(
You sure do get stuck fixing some whopper sized problems at work. :thud:

Yeah, and it's why I haven't been here much in the past week or so. These faxing issues are killing me. I'm now juggling 3 separate issues all having to do with the faxes:

1) The appliance we swapped out seems to have a port that doesn't work. Meanwhile, I can't get any of the techs at the company that does the support for this to call me back.

2) One of our fax servers has some internal modems that keep stopping in a hung state. Meanwhile those faxes that backed up after last weekend aren't going anywhere very fast because of this.

3) We have 4 fax server modems dedicated to outbound faxes and 4 dedicated to inbound. For some reason, we keep getting inbound faxes on the outbound modems even while the inbound modems are doing nothing.

Sigh

I have a few other problems to deal with too that have been sitting waiting for the fax problems to get resolved. But all of these require tech support communications and it's slow going.

LOL, it's beginning to seem like nothing works in my office.

^^ Scooby had a similar problem with the Shoutbox recently. It was determined that it was the computer she was using. The browser was restricting use due to security settings or the age of the browser.

So you might want to check to see if something has changed with the settings on your browser lately. You might also need to upgrade your browser.

I've had things become problematic on websites before and an upgrade to a newer browser version usually fixed the problem.

Actually, now that I think about it, ZetaBoards recently went through a major software upgrade on their end. Whenever this has happened in the past, I would sometimes start experiencing browser problems as well. I had a habit of not upgrading to newer browser versions though. Now I try to upgrade when new versions come out. That and I switched to Firefox. My browsing abilities became much more stable. Internet Explorer is very temperamental and way less compatible with ZetaBoards.

I'm going back to school along with my entire department where I work for a refresher on Anatomy and Physiology. Shouldn't be too hard - - the human body hasn't changed much since the beginning of time. LOL!

Watched two F/A-18's run an intercept of an old bi-plane yesterday. Seems President Obama was in Silicon Valley (just over the hill from me) and some guy didn't check the logs to see there was a restricted air space issue.

Was this something you were able to see from your yard? :wow:

Geez, Firefox 7 is out now. We were on 4 just a few months ago. I'm all for keeping up with security issues and bug fixes, but 3 major releases in a few months is a bit much. Between Firefox and iTunes it seems like I'm always installing updates.
