They sound like an incompetent business. At some point, I hope your boss says enough is enough.
He will, but not until we've gotten as much from them as they will do. The problem is, if we refused to pay them now, they might not give us what they have done so far. To completely start over would set our deadlines way off. So we will have to pay at least part of what was agreed if not all and then we may as well have them do as much as possible. Once they are "finished", the project will be in my department to fix. :( I just can't wait...

I just broke one of my teeth a little while ago.

Of course it was the usual culprit... hard candy. :thud:

The tooth is on the side of my mouth, so at least it isn't all that visible. I can smile and you almost can't see the tooth. So far it doesn't hurt. It is sharp, so I have to be careful not to cut my tongue.

Unlike the half a dozen other teeth that I've cracked over the years (teeth and fillings), this one will probably have to be removed all together. Too much of it broke off.

I'm going to try and get in to see a dentist tomorrow to see what my options are.

You could always go the route suggested by ZZ Top:

"With my New York brim
and my gold tooth displayed
Nobody give me trouble
'cause they know I got it made."

Sorry that happened. At least it's on the side though. A few years back my wife was folding down her spring umbrella and it didn't click right. It sprung back open and hit her in the mouth breaking one of her front teeth in half. The dentist did a good job of replacing her tooth though. It looks just like the original one (which is amazing considering we never found the half tooth that broke off - we figured it must have shattered into bits). My wife also learned from that not to point the umbrella at her face when folding it...

So hurricane Irene is missing most of us in Florida except for the East coast that is getting some rain in increased waves. Here in Central Florida we are seeing cloudy skies, but haven't even had much rain. The ground looks dry right now.

But there are some members here who do appear to be in its path. So I wish you all the best in making it through with hopefully minimal impact.

Glad it worked out well for your wife. :) Your wife wasn't around any food preparation at the time was she? :P

I was so glad it wasn't one of my front teeth. I don't want to look like Elmer Fudd's country cousin for the rest of my life.

I just got back from the dentist. It would take several thousand dollars to reconstruct the tooth. Even then, he said it wouldn't be strong because the tooth broke off close to the bone. Not a lot to work with. Since I don't have dental insurance to help mitigate those costs, I have to go a much cheaper route... tooth extraction. Because of the shape of the tooth and how deep the root is, the dentist wouldn't pull the tooth today. He punted me off onto an oral surgeon. I now have to make other arrangements for that. So far I'm not in any major pain. I hope it can hold out.

I called earlier to get an estimate for the tooth extraction and I tell you, dentistry is a racket! I need to find a country doctor who will knock me out and rip that baby out without the fussy fussy consultations and fees for a dozen other things they want to charge you for. LOL.

Wow, what a hassle. I hope you get that tooth pulled soon and before any major pain starts. I know what you mean about dentists. I think so many people avoid going that they don't make much money until they get to do those consultation, etc. Then they grab all they can.

Worse than all those fees, I have no way to know for sure, but I think when I was a kid my dentist made up that I had some cavities. Before then I never had one cavity. Then suddenly he said I had 6 cavities. I was a kid, so what did I know? I thought nothing of it then. But I have also never had a cavity ever since and so that 6 all at the same time now seems suspicious to me.

Thanks. That does sound suspicious. Nowadays, they couldn't get away with that on the usual. Showing you X-Rays of your teeth/cavities is pretty standard during the dental visit now. They took an x-ray and a high tech photo of my teeth today and brought the images up on a monitor right in front of me. They found other issues besides the broken tooth and showed me exactly where and what they were. I'll have to have those issues addressed some other time.

As an aside, I was looking through the phone book earlier to shop around for oral surgeons and I had got a good laugh at all the dentists who use photos of themselves sitting all lovely with their wife and children. I thought only politicians did that. LOL.
