I took Friday off from work and went with the family to Universal Studios Islands of Adventure. I didn't think it was all that great, especially for the price they charge. It's basically an amusement park and I've been to better ones. Now granted, with my daughter being only 9, we didn't go on the bigger roller coasters. I also couldn't talk her or my wife into going on the new Harry Potter ride ( :( ), but even so the rest was just average in my opinion. To top it off, just before we needed to leave, it started pouring. We tried to wait it out, but we had to get home to let our dog out. So we eventually bought ponchos and headed for the exit. All was fine until we reached a "pond" due to poor drainage that there was no way to go around just before the park exit. The water was over my ankles... It took until Sunday for our sneakers to dry!

But on Saturday, we went to Disney's Blizzard Beach. That was much better. I actually didn't expect much and was pleasantly surprised at how much was there. There were a lot of different types of water slides, a huge pool, a family raft ride, and even a creek running around the whole park with a mild current and inner tubes to ride on. We had a great time there. :)

Cool! You're lucky though that you live where you live. It makes it a lot cheaper than if a family had to come from way out of town and stay at hotels and all the other costs associated with going to Universal/Disney. I'm surprised your daughter didn't want to go on the Harry Potter ride. I though most kids loved HP.

My niece went to "Harry Potter World" right after it first opened. She loved it, despite the fact that she left their with a ruptured appendix! Yep, she got to spend a portion of that trip in a Florida hospital. The best part for her was her mom told the folks at the park what happened and they comped her tickets for a return trip. Needless to say my niece figured it was all worth it being that she got to go back a second time.

Yes, it IS convenient living here (although that also means we can go more often so the expenses add up anyway).

Yeah, I don't understand my daughter regarding Harry Potter. She watched the first two and hasn't had any interest in seeing the others ever since. She says they were scary which I find surprising coming from the girl who watched all the Pirates of the Caribbean movies and loved them. As for the ride itself though, I think she was intimidated somewhat by the test chair outside. It looks like the same type that they have for the big roller coasters where your legs dangle in the air and there's the big u-shaped bar that comes down vertically in front each shoulder and sits in your lap. Given that the height requirement is lower than for the big roller coasters, I wanted to tell her it wouldn't be so bad, but I had to wonder myself why that type of chair is needed so I couldn't really say it would be no big deal without knowing.

Yes, sometimes I will award one of the awards instead of you having to submit for one. Just depends on if I think someone has gone out of their way to shine in a particular area and is still deserving. :handshake:

I bet she goes back to Harry Potter later in life. Harry Potter took a dark turn with the second movie that even had me taken aback a little.

Yeah that was the problem. I had to delete a whole bunch of stuff that I don't really use.
