My daughter is talking about dinosaurs in her pre-K class. I just found out that the name "brontosaurus" is no longer used and it's now apatosaurus. When did that happen...? |

Well, at least I'm not the only one. Here's a page about it. Or there's Wikipedia if you want more to read. The bottom line is that Apatosaurus was discovered and named first and Brontosaurus was not considered different enough from Apatosaurus to warrant it's own classification. So apparently in 1974 (now I know when...) the term Brontosaurus was dropped. I can't believe it goes back that far and this is the first time I have heard about it.

I am house sitting for my aunt this weekend while she is out of town. When I went down to feed her animals this morning, one of her dogs was tossing a turtle around like a chew toy.
Luckily the turtle had closed itself off in his shell and was mostly protected. So I locked the dogs up in the house (she has a dog door that lets them roam outside when they want), and walked the turtle down to the little creek at the back of her property. Hopefully he will make it okay and wasn’t too traumatized. |

^^^ I *love* turtles. We see them often around May, June, and July. Frequently, when one of them is in the road, we stop and either shuffle it across to one side of the road, or (shame on me?) take it home to our land. (I honestly never know if I should do that or not, but our children love them.) It's amazing to me how protective their shells can be. Sometimes, a car has hit a turtle, and yet it continues to survive. Hopefully, the one you saw this weekend will make it too.

I have stopped on the side of the road to help a turtle across too! ![]() They are cute little creatures, except when they are hissing at you.

Woo! Season Two of The Pretender arrived today! Its in the dreaded widescreen format, but I'll survive.
Best part about is, I only had to pay about six dollars of the price. I got a gift card from Wal-mart at Christmas, and I was able to apply the balance of the gift card to my purchase online.

^^^ Awesome. Enjoy!
Agreed. I rarely pick up snappers, although I love them as well. We usually bring home painted and blandings. I've never seen a box turtle (except in zoos and/or other controlled environments). I'd love to see one of those on the road one day.
