It got up to 95 degrees today. There's probably not going to be too many days before the end of September when it isn't 90 degrees or higher.... Oh well, it always gets this hot this time of year....

It was 90° F here today.

Swidden, the MPAA rating for the PG-13 for Green Lantern specifically says "PG-13 for intense sequences of sci-fi violence and action."

Not sure if that helps any.

That sort of stuff he can handle for the most part. Little boys tend to want to "play rough". He and his cousin that is about the same age "fight bad guys" and have sword and light sabre duels all the time. And of course the invisible bad guy often "dies".

Some movie scenes are intense and we skip those on the videos (such as Dr. Octopus slaughtering the operating room staff in Spider-Man 2). The things I worry most about are more language and love scenes (I skip over the one in the first Iron Man with reporter played by Leslie Bibb). In the years to come he is going to learn all sorts of words we would rather not have him use. I just don't want him learning them at home. I also really don't want to be explaining the "birds and the bees" too early either. Oddly enough, the action scenes are usually the easiest to deal with. The worst acts are done by the bad guys, and again on video we can skip over those. I am fine when the violence is less overt and more implied, but that is a rarity these days.

The battles your son participate in is the type of thing I expect from Green Lantern, but I'll have to wait and see. I will either see "Super 8" or "Green Lantern" next.

I can understand your desire to want to be given the option to skip over parts for your son's sake. If your son asks to go see "X-Men: First Class", I would recommend you not take him. I mentioned this in the X-Men forum, but it is not really a movie for young kids. If you want specifics, I can go back in on the spoilers/discussion thread and elaborate.

I'm hoping we can just keep him fixated on Cars 2. Once that hits, he'll forget about GL.

Nimor, school work definitely comes first before posting on a message board. I'm glad that you finally have some free time to yourself.

No really, a drop of toothpaste flew up into my eye when I was brushing my teeth. :brushteeth:
