Dewleaf, I hope your daughter gets well soon! CO_Fowler, no kidding about the will. I've mostly heard of people going through a bunch of hassles when a will is not left. Glad there seems to be a bit of light at the end of the tunnel for you with your latest news. That's actually been a topic of conversation in my family for the past two days because my brother and his wife are going out of town on vacation next week. They have no will, no beneficiaries set up on any of their policies beyond themselves. They hadn't expressed any wishes/preferences regarding their assets (home/property/other personal items). They have responsibilities towards certain family (my mom), home/property, pets... and so on and so on, yet they have made no legal provisions. A question to them about travel insurance led down the road to all this other stuff. It finally lit a fire under their butts. Thanks to the internet, they were able to make a few changes before their trip. I don't have much in the way of assets myself, but I feel I need to put something down about my belongings as well. I hate thinking about death...but it is especially important for those people who have families/children/other responsibilities to make sure everything is legally taken care of. Death in the family tends to bring out the ugly in people when trying to decide how to handle things and get belongings to the right people. A will can at least eliminate a lot of that nastiness. |

It does seem weird, but probably not to those who have grown up with the seasons like that. |

24, my Aunt was similar in not wanting to talk about death. I think the only reason she even did a will was because her husband died so she did one. She had only ever told me that when she died that I would get some of my Uncles things. I never thought it would have been something like this, though! When I found out that I get it all........well I was very surprised! Although I'd give it all back to spend some more time with her

Thanks, 24th. My daughter is getting over a nasty cold that she has been fighting all week. Today was the last day of school for both of my kids. They have two months and three weeks to recover before school resumes once again. Once it does, my daughter will be a freshman in high school and my son will be a junior. It only seems like yesterday whenever she was a baby and he was a toddler...... |

I still haven't named my ship. Is that as bad as those parents who go months before naming their child on the birth certificate?
