Mel, we haven't seen you in ages. What's new? Catch us up.

As for me, I spent a lot of time in the mountains this past summer, mostly doing trail maintenance work on "volunteer vacations", which I've found to be very rewarding. Hiked 2 more segments of the Colorado Trail. Also bagged another "14er" peak (over 14,000 feet elevation). Check out pic links in the Blog forum.

We finally got our first wintry weather yesterday (i.e. more than just cold weather that is). There were apparently a few snow flakes coming down early yesterday morning, but I missed them. We then got sleet later in the day. We all were actually out for part of that, but the roads weren't bad at all.

Yes I did! :)

Not that much new here to be honest.

We're just trying to plan our wedding, which won't be big at all. We'll just have a simple justice of the peace ceremony. I suppose it'll be sometime after Christmas.

My daughter turns 14 tomorrow. She had some friends over for a sleepover this weekend, so it was a bit hectic in here...lol

I haven't started my Christmas shopping yet... :$

So with Christmas season upon us my wife got the little guy a Lego Advent calendar. Each day he gets a new Lego toy. Now sometimes these things look remarkably good in what they try to depict. However, I don't think the snow man came out quite right.

To me this looks more like Frosty the Dalek...

I pointed this out to Mini-Swidden and it was rather fun to hear him carrying it around the house saying "Exterminate!" over and over.

Mel, congrats on your upcoming wedding. Will you be continuing to reside where you currently are, or is a change of address in the future? (I seem to recall your honey was from overseas).

Swidden, Legos have changed a lot since I was a kid. All I ever got was the rectangular blocks. But I could sure do a lot with them & some imagination.

That's all I ever had as well. Now, they are full blown collectors items.

I switched to using FireFox 3.6 exclusively a few months ago, but I find that it has its own little quirks and rendering issues too (vs. Internet Explorer 7/8).

I switched to Firefox about a year ago. Right after we upgraded our home system I found that the newer version of IE had a tendency to freeze up too often. Firefox may not be perfect, but its glitches are less troublesome. Safari works pretty well to, but can occasionally just up and quit and does not support some images. Probably an Apple vs. MS/Adobe issue that won't get settled anytime soon...

I got way too many operation aborted error messages with IE8. It all of a sudden became a major issue when viewing KOT, so I had to just switch over to Firefox.

With Firefox, I get the occasional page and image loading issue (especially with Yahoo), but in general I do have fewer problems with Firefox.

What prompted me to post those comments today was the little Christmas Tree gif that I have beside our names. Sometimes it is animated, and sometimes it freezes (doesn't blink). It seems to be a rendering issue. I thought I was going nutty when it first stopped working and then started back up later.

Hi TribbleMom, thank you.

We are planning a move very soon, but to another city in Canada. We're looking at Halifax right now, but we're not 100% decided yet. We want to be somewhere with a good job market and somewhere where soon to be husband doesn't need to know any French to get by. Halifax is also a city that is easily UK accessible, so when we do make the big move to the UK, we won't have to travel much to get to an airport.

I really enjoyed visiting Halifax a few years ago now.
