Seriously, I just decided out of the blue to upgrade. I had been informed a long time ago that the Fast Reply function would work with IE8. I just didn't care to upgrade yet. I was hoping they would fix the Fast Reply function long before now. IE7 is still in wide use.
Sure you did ;)

Next step is to upgrade from one of these :whistle2:

Hey, STC, good luck with all the packing (I think that's the worst part of moving).

I'm back from my volunteer vacation of building a new trail. It was an awesome experience. Check out the reports on the Blogosphere with links to pictures.

Note that they used to actually put the word "computer" on it so people would actually know what it was! :loling:

I bet a lot of people didn't know what those things were. So labeling it was and might still be a good idea. ;)

The weather has been great. The only fallout has been less humidity and it was in the 80s today instead of the usual 90s. :D

Gee, less humidity and only in the pleasant 80's ... I'm just ever so sorry to hear that. ;)

I saw a septic tank truck today that had a sign on the back that said, "This truck is full of political promises."

So yesterday we went to a local county fair. We do this for a couple of them in our area and this in itself is not a big deal. No, the interesting part was running into a friend of mine with the local Farm Bureau who asks me if I heard about a grower/shipper cousin of mine who had wanted to put mural of an old family packing crate label on his cold storage facility. A label that is nearly a hundred years old and has not been used professionally for decades. I told him I had not heard anything about it, but thought it sounded like a nice idea. Well it seems that the local agency responsible for approving things like this objected to the label (picture below).

Apparently the presence of the gun caused the permitting agency concern that it might have potential gang affiliation issues. So, of course this escalates things to a whole new level and apparently precipitates the need for, of all things, public hearing before the local planning commission. Yes, in this economy, a community having its own budget issues decided to hold a public hearing over a gun image in a century old apple label's potentially having gang affiliation issues... :jawdrop: :loling:

As side note, the objecting agency did not say one word about the old pioneer guy actually wearing a red shirt... :ermm:

OK, so if the rifle could be airbrushed into a shovel, would that satisfy the objectors?
I really can't see how a guy with a pack horse could be construed to have gang affiliations. That's getting just plain silly.

Actually, when I saw the words "lucky trail" and "apples" together with the image of the horse, the first thing that I thought of was what hikers euphemistically refer to as "trail apples" when we share a trail with equestrians ... stuff you don't really want to step in and later drag into your tent. :$

That is just silly. I think they are being overly sensitive about this. Most people will look at the label from a historical point of view. When I look at the label, it makes me think "old timey", "pioneer farming".... things like that.

Also, if the cold storage facility is the property of your cousin, then what business is it of "the local agency" how he paints the outside?

When it comes to murals there are rules and regs. Other wise you could end up with stuff that is borderline obscene or truly gang affiliated and the defense would be that they can paint whatever they want on their walls.

Is your cousin's business on "main street" or something? My gut tells me "the powers that be" are overstepping their bounds (First Amendment -- Freedom of Speech bounds). If someone can show that your cousin is violating obscenity laws after the mural is put up, then that would be on them to make the case. There is nothing obscene that I can tell about that Label. If your cousin can afford it, he should hire a lawyer.
