I also experience that questioning moment when I am tyring to figure out why the Towers are in a "current" program or movie. I have to back track and check the date or figure out what is going on in situations like what Dalek mentions in his reply.
Oh yes. Do you watch Fringe on a regular basis too, Dalek? That's a pretty good show. I'm looking forward to its return in this New Year. Seeing the Towers on Fringe was a bit surreal. |

I watch it at least fairly regularly. I think I might be an episode or two behind because finals season nearly killed me. |

But you made it though. ![]() If you have the right computer access, you can probably get caught up on the episodes online. A new episode is on tonight. |

I wish! I was hoping to beat your igloo size record. ![]() Sadly, we only got a couple of inches overnight. I'm looking out the window now and it is at least still covering the ground. Its possible we could get more snow. The wintry weather warning is in affect until 6:00pm tonight. |

Hello everyone, sorry for my absence of late but hope you're all ok ![]() From late December through until mid-late January, the UK has been hit by an unusually high amount of snow and freezing temperatures - unusual for us as, while our weather is usually grey and rainy, in recent years we have become accustomed to relatively mild winters. But this one deadlocked the country, we were totally unprepared. Only reason I'm mentioning all this is because of the last post about the igloos . Haven't seen one first hand but I think a few were built . Certainly had a snowman in my back garden who survived for about a fortnight fully intact.

24, it sounds like you're lucky not to have been hit with the brunt of that storm. According to the news reports I've heard, other areas received a lot of ice with it, knocking out power lines, etc. Better luck next time on getting enough to build an igloo. But remember, be careful what you ask for ... STC, did that unusual bout of cold & snow have you shoveling a lot? We've had an unusually dry January in my neck of the woods. We're running a bit behind normal in snowfall for the winter. Frequently when that happens, we get pummelled later with a monster storm that totally dumps on us and makes up for the defeceit. Might sound crazy, but keep your fingers crossed that that will happen for us. The snowpack in the mountains not only keeps the skiers happy, but is also necessary to feed streams and rivers all summer as it melts. We don't want you folks downriver going dry. |

Hello all...and STC! I think we are going to get more wintry weather tomorrow. The ice hasn't even fully melted in the neighborhood since this weekend. Kids were out this weekend sledding down the road in all kinds of stuff...even a laundry basket.

What's shakin' people? ![]() Coincidentally, its snowing here again! This time, the storm is coming from the South. Atlanta was hit pretty good.We were supposed to have a huge yard sale tomorrow, but we now have to cancel. The weather man originally said we weren't going to get much of anything in the way of snow. So we thought we were in the clear. We're bummed out about the weather change. Maybe next weekend... I got my cat a new toy. They call it a Flicker Ball. When he hits it with his paw, it lights up and flashes. He's having a ball playing with it. He will flip upside down and try to beat the ball up with his hind legs. He's funny... |

24, how are your critters adapting to their new home? Is all the moving dust settled? Did you get enough snow this time to build an igloo? |

Well, its only one critter now. The outdoor cat disappeared after the first day. I looked everywhere for her and called her in the way that she recognizes for a couple of weeks, but I haven't seen her since. Losing two pets in the move over here has been upsetting. My indoor cat is slowly adapting. He's wanted to explore twice now and I took him out to visit with his grandmother in her room. For the most part though, he hangs out in my room. I have his sitting table by the window so he can look out when he wants to. I have toys and a new scratching pad that hangs on a door knob for him too. He sleeps on my bed at night with me. He gets one half and I get the other. Since there are other animals in the house, I have to keep them out of my room so he feels safe. A cat will occasionally run under my bed before I can get the door shut. My cat often sleeps under there during the day. No fights have taken place. They are mainly surprised by each other...right now.
We officially have everything moved over here now. It will take a few months to get everything reorganized, but it is coming along. It was tough last month. We were having to do so much in such a short amount of time, that everyone was very short with each other...questioning whether or not we could actually live together. Everyone is getting along better for the last couple of weeks now that the stress of the move is over though.
We got about four inches of snow. I probably could have if I had borrowed a little bit from the neighbor's yard.

24, cats are funny critters. The one we still have currently came to us after her previous owner moved in across the street from us. Apparently she did not care for the accommodations there and thought our place looked much better to her... |

24, I'm sorry to hear about the outdoor cat. That's putting a big strain on you, I'm sure, because as you said, losing 2 in such a short time can be tremendously difficult. It's possible your outdoor cat decided to try to find her way back to the old residence. They have an uncanny sense of direction. Hopefully someone nice is providing food and shelter. |

I hope someone took her in too and she didn't try to find her way back over where I used to live. That's over 45 miles away. I don't know how she would ever find her way back. |

^^^ I've heard many stories over the years about cats and dogs that have wandered that far and more to return to their previous home. Not quickly, but over the course of weeks. Homing instincts in animals can be very strong. I wouldn't say this to get your hopes up, but may be after you've given the little fuzzball enough time to make the journey you should take the time to drive by and give a bit of a look. Couldn't hurt... |

^ I have been thinking about heading over there soon for a visit. I would be surprised, but very pleased to find her there. I had a chance to speak with several people in this neighborhood today, but none of them have seen her. Oh well. I'll just continue to hope she is okay. |

Awwwe, I want to give a baby Panda bear a big hug. The Travel channel is showing one of the episodes of Samantha Brown visiting that Panda place in China during the filming of her 3-Part China special (2008). The panda was a mid size baby and covered half her body when she held him.
