Well my wife is having a bit of a nerves pregnancy brake down.
She doesn’t like the OBGYN we found and had gone to twice already; they are nice and all, but the office seems disorganized from our experience. The first time we went to see them we had a 7:00 appointment; the day of the appointment my wife calls up to confirm the appointment because they hadn’t called us; their response was “Oh sorry didn’t anyone call you, we’re running a little late. Calls us back at 7:00 and we’ll let you know when to come in”. So we called them at 7:00 and they asked us to instead come in at 8:00. When we showed up at 8:00 the place was packed with expecting mothers. We didn’t see the doctor until 9:30. The Doctor was nice and all, but you could tell we were his last patent after a long day. He set my wife up with scripts to get some blood work and ultrasound scans done and to come see him two weeks later when that was done.
So we decided they were nice enough to give them a second chance; my wife and I are easy going people willing to give most everyone the benefit of the doubt. The second time we went to see them they didn’t call to confirm the appointment. So we just showed up anyway without calling; the thought was that it would best to show up at 7:00 even if that meant we would have to wait till 8:30 because they were not expecting us, because that would be better than waiting till 9:30 like the last time. When we got there things where much better and they took us into a room right away. The time before must have been a crazy night for them, I can accept that.
Once we were in the room however the nurse came in to do the nurse things. The nurse asked us if we had gotten the ultra sound as the doctor had set up. We did and so we told her we did. She looked at us for a second and then asked if we were sure because they didn’t have any results. We had gotten the test right away after seeing the doctor so now it was two weeks latter so they should have had the results, even if the lab was slow on the draw. So the nurse said it was ok, maybe the lab was just being slow and if there were any problems they would have called the Doctor up right away, so we didn’t have anything to worry about. The ultra sound tech also told us everything was fine, so we weren’t worried about the baby, but a little upset about the lack of coordination. The next day my wife called the lab and asked them about the delay. They told us that there was no delay and that they had sent the results a week and half ago to the doctor. My wife called the Doctors office again to relay this information; and she was told that the office did have the results but for “some reason” they were not put into my wife’s file. They said everything was fine.
At this point my wife was on a two strike bases with this Doctor and thought it would be best to see another doctor for a second opinion and possibly to switch doctors altogether. So we made an appointment for tonight. Well this doctor’s office called Friday and left a message about rescheduling. My wife called them back today and they asked if they can reschedule her for January 11, a month from now. When asked why, they said they have a lot of new patients and wanted to get them sorted out. I don’t know what that means but my wife insisted in keeping the appointment for today and they said it would be fine. But now my wife doesn’t know if she likes this place either. Hopefully when we get there things will be better; my wife’s friend recommended the Doctor so hopefully things will be good.
That sounds like a frustrating situation. I think I would be nervous going to see a doctor whose office was not run in a more professional manner. It might not mean he/she is a bad doctor, but mix ups and problems can arise in that type of environment (such as the problems you mention). I’d rather just have peace of mind and go see another doctor and maybe having another ultrasound too (for another confirmation of everything being okay).
Hopefully this new doctor will work out for her.

So I put red rope lights around the edges of my roof. The door has a wreath and the lamp post and mailbox each have a bow. There is an inflatable snow globe on the biggest part of my front yard. On the other side of the driveway from that, there is an inflatable polar bear with a scarf and Santa hat. On the largest section of bushes, there are multicolored lights. That it.
Wow! Hmm, maybe that sounded like more than it is. It's really not a lot. Some people really decorate their whole yard. Mine has more than the ones that just put candles in the windows or a few lights on the bushes, but still it's not very much. A lot of houses do far more than I do. I think too much can be too much (except for the few very nicely done ones) so I try to do enough to be pretty well lit up without going overboard.

Geez, that first doctor's office sounds lousy. I think it's the right decision to change. You don't need screw ups where bringing a new life into the world is concerned. Since the 2nd doctor was recommended by your wife's friend, it sounds like you have a better chance of that one working out.

I just saw this after I posted. I'm glad this one seems better. Younger isn't always bad. They have the latest knowledge - just as long as the doctor isn't too young to have much experience (although residency programs give considerable experience before they can practice on their own anyway).

Its more than I do; I think you can see my fack tree in my window when its lit up, thats all I have. I like trees in the windows. We used to do that as well, but one year we bought a treadmill and the best place for us to put it was under our picture window. It's arranged so you can't see the treadmill from outside, but it's in the way of putting the Christmas tree there.

True; also it’s not her practice, she works for another Gynecologist and another OBGYN. Supposedly they all share patients. So technically the experience can come from the others if need be.

It sounds like your wife has had a snack attack.

You could always decorate your treadmill to look like a tree. I guess it depends on if it gets any use otherwise. I know some who buy exercise equipment and it goes unused for the most part.

Ours does get used so the tree would be a problem. Well, I suppose we could lift the tree and walk or run while carrying it and get more exercise that way...
Um, nah...

I haven't been on much today either. I just got here myself.

I can't believe how far behind the 8 ball I am this year with holiday preparations. There's only 1 weekend left and it's already pretty full with other things. I still have a lot to do between shopping, finishing getting the tree up, mailing out cards, etc. This year seems so rushed because Thanksgiving was so late in November.

I’m pretty much finished with everything. Decorations are up. Gifts are wrapped. I’ll have to bake a couple of things for get togethers next week.

That's good to hear. It must be a nice feeling not be caught in the last minute crunch.
