See the Blogosphere ... just posted a link to a Photobucket web page. It was fun decorating. I haven't seen most of those ornaments in years. |

^ Cool. ![]() Darn, I'm supposed to be trying to get our outside holiday lights up this weekend and I just noticed 50% chance of rain tomorrow and 40% on Sunday. As it is, I have to work in between my daughter's dance performances - one on each day. This isn't looking too promising... |

^^ Two dance performances on one weekend? Is that the norm? The weather man is predicting wintry weather for this weekend in my neck of the woods. Probably sleet. Its already pretty cold out right now. Are you going to do a "National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation" job on your house? That movie is hilarious.

Hey, 24 ... nice new avatar. And nice balloons for the anniversary celebration. 24, I'll bet you're just now getting the storm system that blew through Denver a few days back. We didn't get that much snow from it; the sub-zero temps were the worst part. I'm oh-so-happy to finally have a garage! IE, go easy on the house decorations. Sometimes I think understated is more appealing than going National Lampoon. I took my mom on a drive around her town last weekend just after dark, and we did find a National Lampoon house. It was quite the spectacle to look at, but with all the inflatable lighted things in the yard, it really was overwhelming. I'd sure hate to pay their electric bill! Our decorations are very moderate. Just wrapped lighted garlands around 2 of the front porch pillars, with 2 small lighted outdoor artificial trees in pots in between, and red bows on the other 2 pillars. The red bows are there because the house is our gift to ourselves this year. We also leave the front bay window blinds open in the evening so the Star Trek Christmas tree lights will shine through it. |

I think the weather dude may have been wrong now. Its going to be cold today with the possibility of rain, but probably not cold enough to create sleet.
I have a wreath on my door and a bow on my mailbox. That is as much as I am decorating outdoors this year. ![]() Well, I have to do the family togetherness thing later today. I'll be going to see a movie and having lunch with my mom, brother and sister-in-law. Should be thrilling.

No, that's not the norm. My daughter is in a different dance company this year (I think I may have previously described elsewhere on this board the events that led to that last year) with a lot of the people from the old company who all moved to this one. It's the first year this company is in business. They did a Halloween performance and then got invited to do these 2 others. Being a new company that's trying to get off the ground, they aren't turning anything down. Brrrrr. I haven't seen sleet for years. It had gotten pretty cold for us down here too, but then it warmed up yesterday. I haven't seen the movie so I don't know, but knowing Chevy Chase, I doubt it. ![]() Fortunately, the rain never came yesterday. So I got everything put up except for some lights on the bushes. I had to stop to go to my daughter's performance. So I'll be doing those right after I finish up here. |

I don't put up too much. In fact, it has been changing the last couple of years too. I used to have an animated (just the lights were animated) train, but one year a whole section burned out. Every bulb was black in that section. So I stopped using that. Then last year, the same thing happened to a lighted stack of presents. I'm not sure why that keeps happening, but I decided to stop using decorations that have a lot of mini lights. So I put red rope lights around the edges of my roof. The door has a wreath and the lamp post and mailbox each have a bow. There is an inflatable snow globe on the biggest part of my front yard. On the other side of the driveway from that, there is an inflatable polar bear with a scarf and Santa hat. On the largest section of bushes, there are multicolored lights. That it. I used to put these lighted balls in 2 trees too, but those are also made of mini lights. Between that and the fact that some of the hanging strings crumbled to dust last year, I'm giving up on those this year too. The 2 inflatables have replace the train and stack of presents. I never had all 4 on the lawn. That sounds nice. First Christmas in the new house!

IE, I had a feeling the performances were special occasion type thing. Hope they went well. We ended up getting only a light rain today. No sleet.
The movie is off the charts funny at times. You should give it a watch through Netflix this holiday season if you can. ![]()

Well my wife is having a bit of a nerves pregnancy brake down. She doesn’t like the OBGYN we found and had gone to twice already; they are nice and all, but the office seems disorganized from our experience. The first time we went to see them we had a 7:00 appointment; the day of the appointment my wife calls up to confirm the appointment because they hadn’t called us; their response was “Oh sorry didn’t anyone call you, we’re running a little late. Calls us back at 7:00 and we’ll let you know when to come in”. So we called them at 7:00 and they asked us to instead come in at 8:00. When we showed up at 8:00 the place was packed with expecting mothers. We didn’t see the doctor until 9:30. The Doctor was nice and all, but you could tell we were his last patent after a long day. He set my wife up with scripts to get some blood work and ultrasound scans done and to come see him two weeks later when that was done. So we decided they were nice enough to give them a second chance; my wife and I are easy going people willing to give most everyone the benefit of the doubt. The second time we went to see them they didn’t call to confirm the appointment. So we just showed up anyway without calling; the thought was that it would best to show up at 7:00 even if that meant we would have to wait till 8:30 because they were not expecting us, because that would be better than waiting till 9:30 like the last time. When we got there things where much better and they took us into a room right away. The time before must have been a crazy night for them, I can accept that. Once we were in the room however the nurse came in to do the nurse things. The nurse asked us if we had gotten the ultra sound as the doctor had set up. We did and so we told her we did. She looked at us for a second and then asked if we were sure because they didn’t have any results. We had gotten the test right away after seeing the doctor so now it was two weeks latter so they should have had the results, even if the lab was slow on the draw. So the nurse said it was ok, maybe the lab was just being slow and if there were any problems they would have called the Doctor up right away, so we didn’t have anything to worry about. The ultra sound tech also told us everything was fine, so we weren’t worried about the baby, but a little upset about the lack of coordination. The next day my wife called the lab and asked them about the delay. They told us that there was no delay and that they had sent the results a week and half ago to the doctor. My wife called the Doctors office again to relay this information; and she was told that the office did have the results but for “some reason” they were not put into my wife’s file. They said everything was fine. At this point my wife was on a two strike bases with this Doctor and thought it would be best to see another doctor for a second opinion and possibly to switch doctors altogether. So we made an appointment for tonight. Well this doctor’s office called Friday and left a message about rescheduling. My wife called them back today and they asked if they can reschedule her for January 11, a month from now. When asked why, they said they have a lot of new patients and wanted to get them sorted out. I don’t know what that means but my wife insisted in keeping the appointment for today and they said it would be fine. But now my wife doesn’t know if she likes this place either. Hopefully when we get there things will be better; my wife’s friend recommended the Doctor so hopefully things will be good. |
