Dark chocolate is the best! Our snow from last weekend ended up being about 8" deep on my back patio railings. Then, as usual, the next few days were warm & sunny again. Lots of melting going on this past week. And another mild cold front is duein tonight, just in time for the second half of our weekend. At least today was nice enough that I got out on my bicycle for about an hour's ride. IE, sounds like your daughter has had quite the ordeal with that cast. As if itching wasn't bad enough ... |

I'm not much of a fan of dark chocolate. A little too bitter for my taste. |

Yes, she has, but at least everything has been fine since what I posted above and now the cast comes off tomorrow. The 2 weeks went fairly quickly to me, but I'm sure it seemed like 2 months to my daughter.

That's great! She still might be tender and not be able to do things on that foot that she normally would for a while. |

You are quite right. We had already planned to have her take it easy for awhile since the foot is probably a little stiff and maybe a bit weaker from not getting normal use for the past 2 weeks. Plus, the injury came from somewhere so it doesn't make sense to just go right back to the same activity without re-evaluating what caused it in the first place. My wife called a little while ago and the cast is now off, but the doctor had suggested leaving it on for another 2 weeks. He did give my wife the choice and she chose to have it taken off. Since it's Thanksgiving week and we will be visiting relatives in Atlanta, she will probably be a lot less active on the foot anyway. Then we'll have to watch her carefully next week. The doctor gave us notes for dance, P.E., and recess to ensure that she does no more than sit and watch for those until the 2 more weeks are up. The main reason my wife decided to have the cast removed is because the weather is getting colder (and will be more so in Atlanta) and my daughter has had to wear dresses and skirts being unable to get pants over the cast. |

Hey, 24, what's shakin' this early on a Saturday morning? I'm just up because one of my cats absolutely insists on being fed her breakfast at the same time on weekends as she gets it during the usual work week. Cats just don't understand the concept of a day off and sleeping in ... at least not when they're food-motivated. She'll walk back & forth across me until I get up and open that can of wet food. This weekend I hope to get my "Christmas chores" done -- addressing the Christmas cards and writing the annual letter. I'm actually looking forward to decorating this year, now that I have a real house to decorate. I still don't want to go all-out, though (no Griswold's Christmas house for me). Just a few lights in the windows, a wreath on the door, stockings on the mantle (now that I actually have a mantle over the fireplace). The most fun will be putting up a tree for the first time in about 9 years (now that we have the space for it) and getting to use all my Hallmark Star Trek ornaments! |

Hey there TribbleMom! Yesterday morning I went to the theater to see a movie (10:00am showing). I’ll mention the movie on another thread… ![]() Then I went to Wal-Mart and decided to buy a Logitech computer mouse. One that I ended up hating, so I am going to return it this week. The Logitech mouse was optical instead of a ball mouse. Which turns out to not function as smoothly (louder as well when moved around). I later did a search on the Internet and found a site that specializes in Dell parts. They had my exact mouse on sale for $5.99 plus shipping and handling (total cost was $10.98). Regular price was $29.99. My dog is the clockworks animal. The cat is not as pushy. I'm finished with my Christmas decorations. I put a tiny tree up and a few Christmas items, and I'm finished. Very minimal this year. I hope you will take a picture of your Trek Tree for us.

^ It's going good. Busy (what else is new), but good. I'll be even better when I get all my Christmas shopping done though. For some reason, the time for shopping seems shorter this year. Maybe it's because Thanksgiving was so close to the end of November. ![]() How's it going with you? |

^ I'm doing okay. Nothing too crazy is going on for me. ![]() I haven't Christmas shopped yet. I think I will do that soon to get it out of the way. I don't want to be fighting the crowds later in the month. I recently changed a heating element in my stove all by myself. Do I get a cookie?

Good job! Sure you can have a cookie. ![]() That's great that you get in there and do things yourself like that. I seem to recall you fixing other things in the past too. I always at least look to see if I can fix something myself before assuming it needs a repair person. I've been pleasantly surprised several times when I opened some piece of equipment that I knew nothing about only to find it was just a part that had slipped out of place, a wire had become disconnected, or some other simple thing to fix. My vacuum cleaner continues to elude me though. It's less than 2 years old, but it just won't pick up very well anymore. I changed the bag, took the vacuum apart and cleaned it inside and out, verified the suction, and verified that the rotating brush on the bottom works right, but still it doesn't pick up. The attachments still work great, but the main vacuum does not. It's very odd.

Thanks. I try to fix as much as I can. It gets a little tiring paying some guy $100 on a service call to see him spend a grand ten minutes on fixing something. For that much, I’m thinking he needs to spend the rest of the hour painting a room and fixing some other stuff too. ![]() Vacuum cleaners are made so cheaply now. I’ve had several breakdown on me. I think you can conquer it though!

LOL about the painting. I don't know about that vacuum cleaner though. I don't have anything left to try with it so I have pretty much given up. I did find that it works better with the carpet thickness setting at the highest level, but it used to be next to the lowest that worked best. |
