If I weren't vegetarian, I would have tried it. I was known for eating just about anything in my family.

I did find a Veg version though and it was quite nice! :)

How do you do a vegetarian haggis?

Somewhere Anthony Bourdain is making plans to eventually roll over in his grave...

The same way you can do a veg burger, chicken patty, etc... by using plant forms of starches, proteins and other binding agents.

Sure it's not true haggis(and that sure as heck doesn't bother me), but the taste and consistency is fairly similar, and I feel better knowing that I'm not responsible for the demise of the poor sheep.

Hello again, KOT! :wave2: Some of the moving dust has settled, and I'm taking things a bit easier today, so I thought I'd drop in long enough to say hello.

This move has been quite the experience. We hit a little snag on the day of signing the purchase closing (Friday). Somone who was working on the appraisal had apparently not completed the form correctly, then went on vacation (probably their mind was already on vacation before their body was), and the seller's financial guy didn't have all his ducks in a row because of that for our scheduled 11:00AM signing. We didn't get to put our names to the papers until 7:30PM. Was pretty frustrating, because we had based plans on the 11:00 appointment. We had a guy coming to install our new garage door opener at 1:30 (so it could be done before we starting putting boxes in the garage). Fortunately the builders, who still technically owned the house until we signed, said it was OK to continue with that plan, seeing as how nothing from our end was looking like it would fall through at the last moment. So the property manager came over to unlock the garage and we stayed with the installer in case he needed anything else from us. But since the house was still locked and we didn't own the keys yet, we mostly just sat around twiddling our thumbs, because everything was already packed and we had already loaded my pickup truck at 8:00 AM that morning.

Anyway, it all ended up OK, except for being a number of hours later than intended. It was about 10:30PM before I could bring the cats over to the new house (wanted to let them sniff around and explore before the chaos of Saturday morning with the moving company, when we planned to shut them into the guest bedroom). And I was still up at 1:00AM pinning sheets onto spring rods for temporary curtains and getting kitchen cupboard shelves lined.

It took my oldest cat (10 years) about 3 days to forgive me for subjecting her to this much chaos and change all at once. She is only now coming out of hiding during the daylight hours. Our 2-year-old, Dax, adapted more quickly, and has discovered that there is a lot more space now for her to run, which she seems to enjoy. Sounds like a horse galloping through the house instead of a cat.

Saturday the movers came to get the furniture and the bulk of our posessions. My partner spent most of the afternoon sealing the grout in the bathroom shower. Apparently when builders build homes, they install the showers and tiles, but don't seal them. They will also pour the concrete drive and patio, but not seal them either. And they'll build the wood fence between you and your neighbors, but not stain, paint, or seal the wood. We still have a few big projects ahead of us.

Sunday we had to return to the condo to do a final clean-up. Then since we had the movers just pile all the boxes in the garage, we spent that afternoon trying to find the most important boxes (clothing, kitchen plates and cooking utensils, bathroom necessities). Monday I was still on vacation, so I ran errands to the bank for change of address, the post office to get our new mailbox assigned to us and pick up the key, and Wal-Mart (there is always something that you need and don't have when you move). Then the cable guy came to install our cable & internet service. After that, my goal for the day was to sort out enough boxes from the garage to be able to fit both vehicles into it overnight.

Yesterday, I got the final kitchen box unpacked and everything put in a place in a cupboard, pantry shelf, or drawer. I count that as a major vctory to have one room completely done. Today I'm trying to take it a little easier. It's my last day of vacation before I go back to work tomorrow, and we also have tickets to the Celtic Woman concert tonight at Red Rocks -- which we purchased last December before we had any idea that we would be moving this week and be completely exhausted. I hope to nap after lunch so that I don't fall asleep during the concert.

Enough for now ... I hear a couple more boxes calling my name. Just wanted to say hi, and I'll drop in again soon.

Hello TribbleMom! :hello: Wow, you've been busy! I'm glad things are moving along for you and your kitty kitties are starting to settle in.

When you get a chance, you should start a thread in your blog section and post those updates there so we can keep better track of your progress and home improvements. I like reading about them. :D

Have a great time at the concert! I know you have been looking forward to it.

Yeah, keep us updated on the blog TM! Moving is a big ordeal. In my case, it would be traumatic.

I'll tell you what's traumatic. I'm watching Larry King Live at the moment and Larry King is interviewing Jermaine Jackson and the interview is going nowhere. Absolutely, positively weird. I'm embarassed for both of them.

I have to wonder why any of the family are even giving interviews at this time anyway. It screams "attention wh-ring".

I had dinner at the Golden Corral tonight. It’s a buffet style restaurant.

It is aptly named because when you leave you feel/look like a heifer from eating so much! :rotfl:

Its amazing how much food you can shove in at a buffet. :Waitforfood: :mmmgood:

We have Golden Corral buffets around the Denver area, too. We've nick-named it the Pig Trough. :D I usually stuff myself silly.

When I get a few more things in place around the new house, I'll probably post some pics in the Blog section. I actually have unpacked the box where my camera was. However, the only room that I've really finished so far is the kitchen. We haven't hung any pictures on the walls yet or anything like that. That stupid going-back-to-work reality has hampered my progress.

One thing about having a nice, new house ... it makes you realize how shabby your old furnishings can look. In the tiny condo, I thought nothing of using the same hand-me-down desk that I've had ever since I went off to college. Now, though, I'm thinking a contemporary oak computer desk with matching filing cabinets would look so much better here. Then, of course, you have to get matching bookshelves. Then ...

This weekend's focus will be on getting my books back up on shelves, and also on the yard. We have such nice landscaping that came with the place; now we need to maintain it. Fortunately it's not that large of a yard ... I'd rather be out hiking than mowing the lawn.

I avoided all of the fluffly filler foods (e.g. salad) and went for the good stuff!

Redecorating can get expensive. Better hope you don't get the shopping bug.

A few minor upgrades like new curtains, new couch cover or refurbishing (sanding/painting/staining) the desk could save you money though...and extend the life of your current stuff. It really just depends on what kind of budget you are working with.

I'm taking my dog to get neutered tomorrow. He knows something is going on because I put a collar on him this morning in preparation for tomorrow (they require he arrive on a leash). He hates collars and leashes with a passion (hence me getting him used to it) so he already thinks he is being punished. He's moping and giving me "the look".

I put the collar on him the other week, but after a while I took it off. Its extremely lightweight, but he still hates it.

Nahh. I will be taking him really early in the morning and picking him up late afternoon (as required by them). So all will work out.

Hello everyone! I just thought I'd drop by and say "hi" since I haven't been around for a long time. I haven't really been spending much time on the internet in general and so therefore I haven't been here either. I'm lucky if I even check my e-mail every day. I just kind of burned out on the internet for right now.

Work has been quite busy as usual. Nothing too exciting happening there. Outside work, I've been trying to get a lot of odds and ends done that had been piling up. Although I have gotten much done, it seems like that pile never really shrinks. :headscratch: Oh well, I just keep plugging away.

After work and responsibilities, the emphasis on my free time goes to spending it with my wife and daughter, as always. In what little free time I have left, I have been working on my juggling - just about 10 or 15 minutes a day.

Right now, I'm learning to juggle 5 balls. :juggle: Years ago, I had learned the basic 3 ball pattern in about 3 or 4 weeks. I spent much time after that learning a lot of different tricks with 3 balls. When it came to learning to juggle 4 balls, it was a lot easier because it's really just juggling 2 balls in each hand. So that took about 2 weeks. Then I tried 5 balls and it seemed so daunting that I had decided not to bother with it. But now that we have the internet and YouTube, I have seen many people that can juggle 5 balls. So I finally decided that if they can do it, so can I. But I didn't really know how to start practicing. Every attempt I made resulted in so many collisions in the air that there was just no chance of learning. So I found a DVD about learning to juggle up to 7 balls and asked for it for Christmas. I got it and it has been very helpful. I never knew that there were exercises that I needed to do with 3 balls and 4 balls in order to begin learning 5 balls. At this point, I have spent a lot of time over the past 5 months (so much for the 2-4 weeks it took for 3 and 4 balls...) and have finally gotten to where I can throw the 5 ball pattern. Right now, I can consistently make between 10 and 20 throws before a collision or a drop, but I have made throws in the 30's a few times and my highest is 52. So I'm finally getting there!

I'm going to be visiting my family in Massachusetts for Labor Day and my parents have asked that I bring my juggling balls now that they heard I had picked up juggling again. They don't know I'm working on 5 balls though. My goal has been to be able to juggle the 5 balls by the time I see them over Labor Day weekend and I think I'm on target. My father's health has been up and down for the past few years and I never know each time I see him if it will be the last time. I'm hoping this will give him a little lift. I think it will whether I do the 5 balls or not, but if I'm going to learn it, it would be nice if I could learn it in time for him to see it.

I just watched the new Star Trek movie and posted my comments in the review thread. :)

Well, that's about all for now. I hope all of you are doing well! :wave2:

That's because as soon as you finish a task then something else that looked fine before now looks run down in comparison. That's the trap :banghead: :pullhair:

Hey IE! :) :hello:

Sounds like you’ve made a lot of progress on the juggling. I imagine it is also a good strength builder for the arms.

Glad everything is going okay for you and the family!

Good luck getting the juggling balls through airport security. ;)

Nice to see IE drop in again. Good luck with the juggling. I can't even juggle 2 balls, so I'm impressed that you're workingon 5. You go!

Like IE, I haven't been spending much time on the Internet to just play around lately. Usually if I log on to the 'net, it's to find something we need here at the new house. We just ordered our permanent blinds (boucoup $$), and I'll be very happy to take the old sheets and springrods down when they arrive. Still shopping for the best deal on window well covers (since our wells are quite large, the usual home improvement chain stores don't carry their size in their in-store stock). We'll need those very soon to keep the toddler grandkids from accidentally tripping in when they want to play in the back yard.

24, how is your dog recovering?

He was a little tired the first day and a half, but he is bouncing around like he didn't even have surgery the other day. He's young and strong though.

He wants to play so bad, but I am at least avoiding that for a week or so. He can get pretty rough when he plays "tug a toy". He picks the toy up and tries to shove it in my hand. I don't want him to bust a stitch. The only problem I've had is keeping him from licking the incision. No way would he allow me to place one of those cones on his head to keep from licking. He freaks out over a regular collar.

The incision looks to still be healing.

Nope. I didn't even bother purchasing one. I knew he would go bat crazy if I tried to force him to wear one. I figured he would heal more quickly if he wasn't in a state of constant agitation.
