I've been seeing that plentyoffish ad for a while now. For the most part, we get content based ads and Star Trek ads. Every once in a while, Google will dump a new ad into the system that goes out to all boards regardless of the content.

I've noticed that advert coming up as well a lot recently. Presumably the company paid Google for some advertising space.

Its been running a while. Must have cost a good bit to run ads on that many sites for this long.

I'm going to be getting my dog neutered through the Humane Society because they are so much more cheaper than though a regular Veterinary Hospital. Looking at the HS website, they state:

Consider that in six short years, one female dog and her offspring can give birth to 67,000 puppies. In seven years, one cat and her young can produce 420,000 kittens.

:jawdrop:

In reality, I doubt any animal and her offspring could produce that many babies in that short time. They would have to isolate the animals (keep them in a controlled environment), and allow them to stay pregnant their whole lives. Even then, it would be hard to say just how many babies would be born in each litter.

Those statistics are mind boggling.

On another note......

There's that McDonald's jingle that's stuck in my head and I can't stop thinking about it.

"Give me back that fillet o' fish, give me that fish
Give me back that fillet o' fish, give me that fish
What if it were you hanging up on this wall
if it were you in that sandwich you wouldn't be laughing at all! "

24, I hope your dog has a trouble-free procedure and bounces back quickly. I agree that neutering pets is wise -- it's tough to find good homes for everyone in an unexpected litter.

There are some groups (right now I can't recall their names) that offer neutering stray dogs and cats (if the animals can be caught in the first place) and then allows them to be released back where they came from. You know how it is that sometimes there are "neighborhood" cats that come and go and never seem to really belong anywhere particular, but folks put out food for them and a box to sleep in. The thinking is that if even feral cats (and dogs) can get a little population control, there will be fewer of them brought in to animal shelters where they may eventually be euthanized.

Say, did you hear about the dog here in Denver that gave birth on the highway? The State Patrol ticketed her ... for littering.

(Sorry, I know that was bad).

Thanks. I finally got a surgery date set, but it is 3 months away. It takes that long to get on the schedule due to the amount of spay and neutering they undertake.

That is how I ended up with an outdoor cat. She started coming around a few years back. I fed her and eventually set up a waterproof cat house out front for her. She now lives here permanently. :) I tried to bring her in early on, but she is a bit of a free spirit and she doesn’t get along with my other animals. Or I should say my two indoor animals refuse to get along with her. She’s sweet though and I take care of her like my other animals. Luckily she was spayed before she was dumped in this area.

Hey Intrepid, would you like a fish sandwich? :wow:

The strangest thing happened. I’ve had what I strongly suspected was a bone spur growing on the bone near my wrist joint on my left hand. It slowly developed and stayed about the same size for several months. It was hard like bone, but really only noticeable to me.

I guess I was getting used to it because I stopped looking at it all the time. Anyway, I just looked down at my wrist and the lump is gone! It went away in a matter of one day or so. Just like that! What the heck?

Mind you, I’m not complaining. I don’t have to worry about seeing a doctor over it now! :wow:

Speaking of bodily malfunctions. My brother was diagnosed with Shingles this week. He has rashes on his body, he’s feverish and can’t keep food down. In a lot of pain. I’ve read up on it a bit to find out about how contagious it is. It mentioned something about him becoming contagious when he starts to blister up. Yuck! I definitely can’t spend time around him because I’ve never had Chicken Pox (making me more susceptible to the virus that causes Shingles). Chicken pox being another form of shingles as some of you might be aware. His wife has to be around him though. She’s had chicken pox, so things might be okay for her.

I am going to help some today by picking up a few items at the store for them. I’m going to ring the doorbell, place the stuff on the front porch and run like heck back to my car.

:whew: I love those little miracles in life. If it's gone, it's gone. Thank goodness. Worry about it again when it shows up.

24, if you've never had the chickenpox, don't get too close to your brother. I'd leave the stuff on the porch, run to my car and then call from a cellphone telling your sister in law that the stuff is there. Your sister in law will be okay as long as her immune system isn't in a weakened state. She isn't pregnant or anything like that, is she? Your brother is going to hurt for a while. It's not improbable that he'll be feeling little pangs of pain long after he thinks he's recovered. Hope he has a quick recovery.

I guess Easter plans with him are a no go huh? Remember, not too close.

I just helped my own mother do some Easter grocery shopping. I know what my purpose is. I'm her driver and I take the groceries into the kitchen for her. I don't recall my mother ever lugging groceries around. She always had a child to carry stuff in and out for her. Now that she's older, she avoids driving too. The grocery stores were a mess. Walmart was a zoo. My mother would walk around putting stuff in the basket and when it's time to line up, she hands me her credit card and sits down at the cafeteria area and has a cup of coffee and waits for me to be done at the check out.
(And yes, the reason I volunteered this time was so that I could look for the promos and yes, I did find a cereal box with the badge in it.)

Can't wait till some of the grandkids are old enough to escort granny. :incircles:

So we're busy into preparation for the Easter get together. The family is coming home and we'll all be busy for the next couple of days with cooking and church activities.

Hope you all have a wonderful holiday!

Thanks. It turns out I won't have to go over there today afterall. I'm keeping my distance though. My sister-in-law isn't pregnant. She is always getting sick with something, so it wouldn't surprise me if her immune system was weak. We'll see. Hopefully she'll be fine.

No plans this year with all of us. I'll probably still eat with my mom.

My mom is in her 60s, so she's not quite that needy yet. I'll do stuff for her, but she pretty much does everything on her own still.

Have a good holiday! Kudos to finally finding a badge. :D

Kind of sounds like a possible ganglion cyst. Some of those can feel pretty hard. I had one on the back of my hand once -- I called it my Borg implant waiting to rupture out of my skin. :borg:

Here I go ... trying to sound like I know anything about physiology. ** Runs disclaimer about not having a medical degree and NOT trying to practice medicine **
I'd better leave that up to Intrepid.

I'll have to look that up!

Edit: TribbleMom,

I think you are right on the money with the ganglion cyst suggestion. I think I must have slept hard on that hand that night. Putting enough pressure on the cyst to cause it to rupture and drain. The cyst was exactly where it was in several pictures I found of people with the cyst too.

The area was tender for a few days, but now I don’t feel anything wrong there.

Ah, Springtime in the Rockies ... :flake: :flake: :flake:

2 weekends ago we got a bunch of snow. Yesterday we got a couple of feet of snow, plus the rain that preceeded it. And it's about time. We were so terribly dry all winter long, and now we're finally making up our deficit. I just wish it would've spread out over a bit more time. Spring storms tend to bring that really wet & heavy snow that breaks off tree limbs and downs power lines, and feels like you're shovelling cement. Interstate 70 through the mountains between Vail and Denver had to be shut down yesterday due to the slop and slippery, icy conditions. Lots of folks were holing up in Red Cross shelters overnight. This kind of snow also is heavy enough that avalanches happen quickly and frequently.

And all this just about the time of year that I start dreaming about what hikes I want to take this summer. :hiking:

A couple of feet of snow? :jawdrop:

Its warm here already during the days and still slightly cooler at night. We've gotten a ton of rain leading into this season. I think it will be clear this weekend though.

Its always hit and miss when you call technical support (of any kind). I haven’t been able to use my printer lately. I keep getting the check connections/ports error message. So I decided that I would uninstall/reinstall. I need the software CD to do that. I looked everywhere in my computer/printer stuff, but couldn’t find the Drivers/Utilities CD that it says I need for reinstallation. I called Dell to ask them if I could uninstall/reinstall without the CD somehow. In a roundabout way, he told me that I would have to download the drivers off their website. He didn’t speak English well, so when I would say something, he would just repeat what I said without really answering my confirmation questions. Since I understood what he was talking about anyway, I ended the call.

That’s when I realized I should have asked if they could send me a replacement CD instead. It takes forever to download drivers and such. So I called back and got someone else. He spoke a little more clearly and after he got all of my part information he said he could send me a new D&U CD. Its free too. :D I figured since I didn't have a warranty any longer that they wouldn't be able to. Anyway, he was super helpful. Gave me all kinds of contact numbers that I could use to contact him directly. The whole experience was a little weird. I’m not used to Tech Support being that helpful. They must be revving up the customer service with the economy being what it is.

Glad to hear the second call went much better. Isn't it refreshing when you actually get the help you were looking for? Sad to say that seems a rare experience anymore.

Regarding all the snow we had from this Spring storm, it really doesn't seem that bad, since so much is melting so quickly. One particular area, near where my sister's family has a mountain cabin, received 47" of snow! However, today we're supposed to get temps in the 50's, and by Tuesday it's supposed to be in the 70's. Today will be a sloppy wet day for anyone on the roads, but it shouldn't be much worse than that. We'll be on flood alerts for a couple of days around here.

The worst part is the layer of slippery slop that's hiding beneath the snow. I had walked over to our condo's clubhouse to use the eliptical machine Friday afternoon (since the snow was falling fast & furious right then, I didn't go for my normal 3-mile walk after work). When I came back outside and stepped down off the step, my foot just went right out from under me. Fortunately, since my muscles were still warmed up from the exercise, I didn't really hurt anything, except for a slight bruise where my lower back connected with the step.

I take that back -- the worst part of this storm for many people is that power lines went down. Our local energy company estimates that it may be this evening yet before they can get all of them repaired.

I'm glad you weren't seriously hurt when you fell.

Hey everybody! :wave2:

How's everyone doing? Snowing in Colorado, it is? The Utilities CD was right behind the computer monitor? Well in the very least you had a good customer service experience. That doesn't happen very often.

I've been recovering from that Easter get together. Yeah, it was that bad. I'd go into details but it's too embarassing to talk about. Soon after that was tax day. Almost had to take myself to the ER. Nothing like last minute tax filing. After I realized how much I had to pay, I fell into a deeper depression. :pullhair: So long story short...... the grand opening of our local casino was on the 16th. Day after tax day. How ironic. I went. I blew what I had left on a STAR TREK slot machine. I kid you not. I can not for the life of me find Star Trek promotionals but I sure as heck can find a STAR TREK slot machine. :happyclap: I had the time of my life. There's only 6 of them in the whole casino and it's pretty hard getting a seat. (You should see some of the people playing that machine. They look like Klingons and I swear I saw one person who looks a little Ferengi to me).

Anyway, I'm over my funk now. :cheer:

Onward to May 8!!!!!!

Well, next time you get in a funk let us know. We'll just turn a hose on you. ;)

Glad you had fun at the casino!

Intrepid, the Star Trek Exhibition is coming to Philadelphia, PA soon. You can check the thread for details if you are interested in going.
