Not really. It was the same kind of day as yesterday. And I won't get caught up tomorrow either because it's already half occupied with meetings and conference calls.

![]() You have no idea how funny that is! About 10 years ago, I would swear I hated doing more than 1 thing at a time. Trying to do more than one meant not giving my full attention to anything and a greater likelihood of mistakes. But the last 5 years or so have left me little choice and I got used to it. Now, I juggle so many things I have no idea how I keep track of it all. But, truthfully, every now and then something does slip through the cracks. Either that or I can't remember what I did yesterday.

^^ I think becoming a parent probably had a little to do with you having to hone your juggling skills.

Being a parent certainly contributed. The other big factor was the growth of the company that I work for. Things were easy when we were smaller, but that has all changed now.

Everything should be alright when they provide you with that extra help that they keep promising you. *IE goes off to dream that a cadre of people show up to assist him at work.* |

I think the day that IE gets his extra help will probably also be the day that my bosses decide to replace the person I lost in my department during the layoffs just prior to Thanksgiving. Don't worry, IE, you eventually get accustomed to forgetting what you did yesterday at work. If it weren't for all the e-mails that I save in various folders in my inbox at work, I'd never remember anything. And I keep harping on my remaining co-worker, "Make notes ... make notes ... make notes." Poor guy probably feels henpecked. I just wish my boss actually had a clue about what happens in my department and how long it can take to process a return to our vendors. Of course, each vendor has their own way of doing things, and since we have over 1000 vendors that our company deals with, there's about a thousand dfferent variations for everything that we handle. Takes a lot of time following up on everything. But anyway, isn't that the way it is at most places -- your boss really has no idea exactly what your job entails? I believe that he's still under the impression that if he gives me a person, they'll be fully trained and up to speed in just a couple of days.

^^ Not to mention how long it probably takes to actually physically go through the returned items. Not just the paper work involved. |

No kidding. Each item has its own differing problems. A lot of our time is spent trying to figure out exactly what the defect is and how we're going to present it to the vendor so that it seems to be a manufacturer defect rather than user stupidity. It doesn't help when our dear colleagues in our branch stores write a problem description like "broken." My reaction to that is, "Really, no kidding? You sent it here because it's broken? Gee I never would have guessed." ** TribbleMom is not ever one bit sarcastic at work ** The things that I see repeatedly every year are the ones that bug me the most. Like the bicycle lights that come in to me with a problem, "won't turn on." So I unscrew the battery compartment lid and look inside to find the little plastic tabs still inserted at the ends of the batteries (the ones the manufacturer puts there to prevent battery power drain while in storage). Funny how it works just fine when I take those out. Sometimes it's difficult for me to send those things back to a branch store with a polite explanation of the problem when I really just want to call them idiots for sending that to me in the first place and wasting my time. And that happens every year! OK, enough ranting ... thanks for letting me vent. (Like you all had any choice in the matter). On to other topics again ... |

Okay, that was me a couple of years ago. "This thing doesn't light up!" The only way I figured that thing out about the plastic tabs is when I went to return the item and the employee at the returns counter asked me what was wrong with the product. He then pulled out those platic thingys and "voila", the stuffed bear I bought started singing. Seems as if those things are around the the dial of those cheap wrist watches too. Who'd a thunk? |

My home computer has been acting up really bad these past few weeks. I've been able to access the internet a little from work but there's nothing like being able to sit down at home and just peacefully surf the net. Post here and there without being rushed on your lunch breaks at work. I had forgotten what it was like to "click" and instantly be on that website. The page would haaaannnnnggggg forever and I'd always lose my connection. It would always come up "server not found" or something insane like that. It was getting stressful trying to surf. First I tried to blame the internet provider. But when I called they said my connection was fine. So this morning I finally tried something called system restore. Boy was I nervous. It took everything off my computer and reinstalled everything. Had to figure out all the wires.. what a mess. But I survived and my computer just had an enema. She's purged. I think I'm going to take a nap after this and go to work later on. Sometimes computers are harder than people (to work with that is). |

I have had to restore my computer once or twice. It usually solved the problem, but also resulted in having to go back and download several software updates that were lost in the restore. Since then, I started creating the occasional "Restore Point" so that I wouldn't lose software updates too if I ever had to do a System Restore again. In theory It will work at least. |

I think my home computer is gasping it's last breath. LOL. I did the system restore and all but she's just not right. She'll be fine for a while then websites just "hang" then I have to get out, log in again. She's not as quick as she used to be. I'll have a friend take one good look at her. Maybe I did something wrong. ON another tangent..... Is it just me or are the workplace gatherings getting a little bit bothersome? There are four this week (different departments) and everyone expects you to bring in a covered dish. On top of all the other holiday stresses, they expect you to cook when you get home at night/morning? And someone always volunteers to bring the drinks first. I never get something easy like that. Oh well, just stuffed from all this eating. Enjoy the cold weather everybody.

I had to break down and get a new computer in 2006. My other had every problem under the sun for years. It was about seven years old and it was still running Windows 98. LOL! Workplace gatherings are an annoyance. Expecting you to attend four is ridiculous IMO. I don't think it would be out of place to say that you are only committing to go to one or two (probably next year since this week is almost over). Tell them you will toss their "department names" around in a hat and the one you pull out is the one you will go to. If money isn't so much of an issue, then a few cheap desserts purchased at the grocery store would be the way to go. Instead of having to bake/cook for all of them. The weather warmed back up here for the last couple of weeks. We've had rain most of those days though. It will eventually get real cold again. |

I decided to opt out of the Secret Santa and pot-luck at my workplace tomorrow. Frankly, I don't hardly even know more than half the people that work in the building, as my little department is stuck off in our corner, and we're so busy we can't get away from our desks. We just don't work together with the rest of the warehouse crew, so I had a hard time getting hyped up to share a dish and my time with everyone. I sound like I have a case of the Bah-humbug's, huh? We had a short round of semi-warm weather (back into the 30's and 40's), but this weekend is supposed to be only in the teens. The mountains are getting some good snow, though, which makes the skiers happy.

Hi everybody! I think I caught a case of Tribblemom's "bah humbug-itis". Next year, I'm opting out of all that stuff. Too stressful. Yesterday I got into a car accident and there wasn't a lick of snow on the ground. I finally decided to go shopping and finish up a few things so I wanted to go to my favorite craft store Jo Ann Fabrics and buy a gift for my niece. I remember thinking how empty the parking lot was and thinking "boy this place is dead for a Sunday before Christmas".... Looked back, saw nothing and BAM. I got out of my car to see what happened and a young fellow was already coming towards me. He was around 18 years old and what I saw was an angry young man who took the cigarette he was holding and kind of threw on to the ground like he was really PO'd. Well no wonder. This 18 year old was driving a brand new 2009 Mercedes Benz C300. I made sure no one was hurt. Checked to see if he was okay and if there were any other passengers in the car. The impact wasn't earth shattering. Truthfully, there was more damage to his car. He had to have seen me when most of my car was already out because he hit my left rear bumper as opposed to my right rear bumper. Meaning most of my car was already out. I do remember hearing the revving of an engine and BAM. In any case, I'm not shopping anymore. Whoever didn't get anything won't get anything. I have to deal with all that good stuff for the next few days. Well, there go my insurance rates and a $500 deductible. I'm staying in as much as possible. LOL. |

I had last Thursday and Friday off and came back today expecting some catch up work. But, not only did I have that, but everything seemed to go wrong today too. I spent my day mostly fixing things and not doing any catching up. And I still have more fixing to get back to tomorrow.

It was the same kind of day as yesterday. And I won't get caught up tomorrow either because it's already half occupied with meetings and conference calls.

I know the reason why and I'm working to correct that behavior. In two weeks, I'll be on vacation and afterwards, I can start over with the new term and a new attitude.
The mountains are getting some good snow, though, which makes the skiers happy.
