Same old, same old here. Its been raining the last few days. I think it will stop today. The cold bug has hit some of my family members, but not me yet. *fingers crossed* I've been getting into the Christmas mood already. I'm listening to Christmas music right now. This happens every year. I'm usually starting to get burned out on the holidays by mid-December as result. I need to figure out when to put the tree up this year. Probably the day after Turkey day. I haven't had a chance to watch DS9 in a while. Really good series. Great character interaction. I think you will really like it Intrepid. I've never done martial arts, but they say its great exercise and will get you into shape. You can kick people's butt too. |

You go kick tushie, Mel! We just had a relaxing evening at home tonight, watching Legend of the Seeker, followed by the remastered version of the TOS episode "Errand of Mercy." Had a nice crackling fire going in the fireplace. My 18-year-old cat curled up right in front of the fireplace. I think the warmth must've felt good to his old bones. After this, though, life may get a little more interesting. My partner and I are beginning the search for a real house. Our condo is a bit small, and both our parents are aging and may need to make that transition into the next phase of life where they need a little more daily care, but not necessarily ready for the nursing home. My mom's scoliosis is becoming ever more pronounced and she is now utilizing a walker. It may not be long before a wheelchair is required for mobility. So of course we're looking for a one-level ranch with no stairs. The market is good now for getting more house for less money. Not in a real big hurry, but we met with a realtor today to start discussions. Meanwhile, that also means de-cluttering the condo ... which means I have to pack away a lot of my Star Trek memorbilia for a while to make this place presentable for showing when we're ready to list it. Bummer. But I'm hoping that we may be able to find a house where I can have an entire room devoted to all my collectible stuff and my 400+ Trek books. Still, the thought of moving always puts me into a pretty grumpy mood. |

That's a big change, TribbleMom. Are y'all looking to find a home in the same area you live now? I think you are right about the market being good for buyng a house right now. With the economy being as it is, people are more likely to want to unload their properties as quickly as possible. The more desperate they are, the more they might be willing to drop the price.

I'm sorry to hear that. Hopefully she is not in a lot of pain? |

^^^ Actually, my mom is in pain most of the time. I believe she has an appointment next week for an injection that should alleviate some of it. She's had several chronic health issues ... rheumatoid arthritis for about as long as I can remember, multiple myloma (a bone marrow cancer that she fought off in the 1980's after the docs estimated she'd have about 5 years left), thyroid imbalance, and now the curvature of her spine may also be creating pressure on her sciatic nerve ... It's all rather frightening when I think about genetic inheritance. Maybe that's one reason why I'm doing as much mountain hiking as I am ... while I know that I can. As far as a location for a house, we're looking to remain somewhere in the Denver metro area, as that's where our jobs are. We're flexible about exactly where, as there are several suburbs of Denver proper that are appealing. As in most metropolitan areas, though, there are certain neighborhoods we're looking to avoid. And you're right about my cats -- they don't seem to like to see things getting packed into boxes. I can't imagine what they'll be thinking when we actually list this condo and strangers start coming through looking at everything. |

That's a lot to have to put up with. I hope the injection helps her.
Hopefully they won't hide under the furniture and bat the visiters (i.e. try to trip them with their paws) when they come to visit.

My daughter is beginning to lose some teeth now and has lost three so far. She just lost her first front upper tooth and, for some reason, I find it really cute. I got to play tooth fairy, but she didn't make it easy! She doesn't like the adult-sized pillows so she sleeps on a travel-sized pillow. It's smaller and thinner and more difficult to reach under without disturbing her. My wife found a tooth fairy "pillow" (about 3 inches wide) with a zipper to put the tooth in. So that is what she put under her own small pillow. When I went to exchange the tooth for money, my daughter was sleeping on her stomach with both arms well under her pillow. I thought "how am I going to get that tooth fairy pillow out with her arms under there?" But, of course, I had to try. So I reached under and felt something. "Is that it...?" Oops, no that was her fingers! So I felt around some more trying desperately not to touch her again and finally found a corner of the pillow and dragged it out. I took the pillow into the next room to change the tooth for money and, when I went to put it back, she had already rolled over. I had only been gone for about 30 seconds, so apparently I did disturb her. It was much easier to slip the little pillow back because of her new position though, but I thought she opened her eyes when I was doing that. So the next morning I asked her if she had seen the tooth fairy come and she said she hadn't. Only about 17 more to go... |

^^ That's cute! ![]() So does she think the Tooth Fairy looks like the traditional winged fairy or the one from the movie, "The Santa Clause 2"? ![]() |

I would guess the traditional winged fairy, but she hasn't actually said what she thinks. She has watched several Barbie, Fairytopia movies (in which the fairies look like the winged fairies) repeatedly so it's a good bet that she imagines something similar.

So how much money did the tooth fairy fork out? She's a smart cookie. I don't think you'll get away with $5. |

You'll have to show her that movie I mentioned when she gets older. She might like that Tooth Fairy too.

Actually you were right on the money (pun intended ) - we gave her $5 - er, um, I mean the tooth fairy did . The first time we gave her a $5 bill and I'm not sure she completely understood that was the same as 5 $1 bills. So the last two times we have given her 5 $1 bills and she seems happy with that.

I've seen that ad too. The Google Ads are supposed to be content targeted, but they dump random ads in there all the time. Now I'm seeing a "Take the Star Trek Quiz" ad. |
