Mel, hope that test went OK. Does anyone know how I can get some of that anti-stupid vaccine that Intrepid invented? I could sure administer that to a lot of people at work. Or does that just work on the people in her ER? |

I heard a funny story today on the radio. A lady talk radio host was telling a story about how her dogs always bark around when she goes out to the barn to take care of the animals. Today though, one of her dogs was barking in a "there is something out there" alarmed way. So she got her pitchfork and slowly walked around to the side of the barn to see what the dog was barking at. It turned out to be a big mushroom that sprung up over night. It was brown and the size of a football. The dog thought it was an animal! ![]() She took the pitchfork and smashed it. The dog yelped and in a "I need to prove I'm not a wimp for barking at mushroom" kind of way, he took off in the other direction and started barking at something esle. ![]() My puppy has barked at mushrooms too. |

^![]() It IS funny how those mushrooms just appear overnight. And they can be big - although I haven't seen any quite THAT big. By the way, nice Halloween skin 24.

Thanks! Btw, remember y’all can change the theme to whatever you want. So if you need a Halloween break, just flip it over. When logged in the theme will remain as you want. When logged out, the theme will often return to the Default theme (currently Halloween) depending on the cookies and opening and closing of your browser window. |

We're getting the grandsons for a weekend sleep-over, so I'll be busy and won't be around the boards for a few days. I still get to go with my nephew to the Symphony tonight (the one where they're playing all Star Trek music). I think by that point I'll be happy for a short break from the youngsters' energy. See y'all around in a couple of days. |

Thanks, it was a good weekend. But I'm really tired tonight. I think kids suck the energy out of adults. I have to go back to work to rest, now. |

Man, this day has just been one big steaming pile. To top it off, I was just called a Herbert on another Star Trek forum for defending XI. Or I should say, defending Abrams and Co. ![]() Darn those TOS purists… ![]() I’m going to bed. |

Goodnight, Herbert ... er, I mean 24. Hope you can shake off the rigid purism and have a good night. I'm certainly willing to give Abrams & Co. a chance, but it is going to be a bit difficult for us old geezers to see other actors in certain roles after 40+ years of knowing them as only the TOS actors. If it's a good story, perhaps some of the stodgy purists will see the light and convert. |

Thanks. ![]() I'm not too concerned about the stodgy "never will change their mind" purists. There will always be a segment of the fanbase that likes one aspect of Trek (TOS in this case) and refuses to give legitimacy to the rest of the franchise. Even though TNG pretty much re-launched this franchise after years of inactivity on TV, and was a continuation of TOS in many ways, there are some fans who still look down their noses on it as though it is not Star Trek. However, TNG is still popular to this day among many across the entire fanbase. There are some fans that just can't be pleased. Which is why Abrams shouldn't worry too much about them. He just needs to do his thing, and if people like his work he will have fans of his work. Its very much like ENT. ENT is a departure from all of the other series. Not liked by many, but there is still a good segment of the fanbase that likes the show. XI will resonate with someone. Some people actually like Nemisis. Different strokes for different Trekkie folk. ![]() And you are not an old geezer, young lady!

I'm liking all of the new avatars. The mighty warrior is especially cute... err I mean ferocious. ![]() Don't stare at IE's avatar too long though, you start to see things.

I'm so hungry. I forgot to bring some food for my shift tonight. Thankfully, I have a father who is willing to bring me something. He should be around soon.

I knew that bunny looked familiar. Darn... I can't remember what I called her. I do remember Zelda. Was it Felicia? I love all of our furry animal avatars. They all have such attitudes. ![]() IE's avatar is *schwing* way up there. |
