Hanna is supposed to hit Southern New Brunswick too, and Nova Scotia. I live in Northern New Brunswick though, so it doesn't seem as it will be affecting my area. |

So far we have only gotten a sprinkle from Hanna. Hope that holds. I hate being without power. No internet. *shiver* The horrors.

^ It looks like you are/were on the west side of the storm which is the best place to be. I hope that sprinkle holds for you as well. Hanna passed us by with a small amount of rain. No big deal. We're still watching Ike now, but that's looking better and better for us so far. The projected path keeps getting moved further south. On another note, I received a jury duty notice a short time ago and I was supposed to appear for selection on Monday. That's now been canceled and I have to call on Monday for further instructions. It's a Federal court so I'm on call with them for the next 2 weeks. I really don't want to get selected. I have too many things going on right now. And I REALLY don't want to get sequestered.

IE, Is this the part where you wait all day and then they interview you and ask you some questions? Dress like you haven't showered in a week and I'm sure they won't pick you.

Or when asked anything about penalties, say: "I think they all oughta have their sleeves rolled up and get one last injection!" The next words you'll hear will be from the defense attorney saying "Excuse for cause." |

I think he should lean over and look at the defendent and then the judge and just say, "Hmm, I can tell by the way he is sitting that he is guilty your honor."

I don't know yet. I'm sure it will be less than I would normally make in a day, but my employer will make up the difference so I'll end up breaking even anyway. |

I think today has to be one of the prettiest Sunday's we've had in my neck of the woods in a long, long time. What to do.... what to do? Maybe I should go vacuum my car or something. Maybe I should go through that vast waste of junk mail. Maybe I should go clean something. I know. I'll finally go and watch "Dark Knight". Yeah, sounds like a plan. Maybe I'll go get some exercise and hike through the mall. Tribblemom would put me to shame if I ever had to climb a mountain with her. Why am I flashing back to memories of my drill sgt at bootcamp? In honor of Tribblemom, I will go do something physical and not watch Season 5 of Voyager on DVD this day. Maybe tomorrow but not today.Enjoy the weekend everybody and IE and 24....stock up on the "usables" (IRL, toilet paper and bread) and stay dry. |

IE, 24, & Mel, Glad to hear Hanna was not so bad for you all. We'll still keep fingers crossed that Ike won't pack a wallop. IE, Quick, get a Starfleet uniform and wear it to jury selection. I hope your jury gets picked before it's your turn to step into the box. Once you're in, it's really tough to get out. (I went through that last year). Intrepid, I hope you've enjoyed a lovely outing in the sunshine today. After that, reward yourself with some Voyager episodes this evening. It's a great day here, too, but I seem to have caught a nasty cold virus from one of my co-workers, so a stuffy head and coughing are preventing me from getting very ambitious today ... just a little walk around the park. Maybe next weekend I might be able to get out one more time to the mountains. |

I ended up cleaning out my laundry room because that is where I keep the cat’s litter box. Litter seems to fly everywhere over time. When I pulled the dryer out I discovered that the flex vent hose on the dryer was off. Talk about major fire hazard. ![]() I had a lot to clean up behind the dryer (major lint build up), but the clamps on the hose are secure again. I also had to remove some of the hose because I saw two slight holes on both ends. Luckily, they make those things extendable. For a while now, I had been wondering why it felt warmer back there when doing laundry (also taking longer to dry clothes). I should have checked it sooner. The mind doesn’t always go towards the simple things when “you” start thinking about what if anything is wrong with something.
I don't think we are going to have any weather problems here, but I have plenty of usables just in case (both in real life and virtual life). ![]()
You're sick and you still went out walking? That's dedication. Hope you get well soon!

I'm dedicated to NOT letting myself develop diabetes. That's a pretty powerful motivator. My grandmother had it, so genetically I'm predisposed. A blood test a couple of years ago indicated I was definitely headed that direction myself if I didn't make some changes. So I started walking more (a lot more) as my exercise program and altered my diet. 30 pounds later, I'm doing much better and intend to keep it that way. No backsliding! |

A weird thing happened to me this morning. We're not allowed to use our cell phones during work hours except on breaks. So everyday, I turn my phone down to vibrate before I leave home to go to work. I know for sure I hadn't forgotten to do this today because my wife called me on my way to work and it definitely vibrated. About 20 minutes after I arrived at work, my cell phone RANG loudly and the caller ID said "Unknown". Somehow, my cell phone volume was as high as it goes and vibrate was turned off. By the design of the phone, it would be impossible to accidentally turn the vibrate off. The volume could get bumped up (and the vibrate would stay on) but it would take 8 bumps to get it to max. I wish I could have answered it to see who it was. I bet it was telemarketing. |

I know computers can be turned on remotely so I was thinking maybe some telemarketers figured out how to make the phone ring loudly remotely. That way, you can't ignore it. The phone is less than a year old and I haven't had any problems with it. It could possibly be a malfunction, but it seems unlikely. |

I report for jury duty selection tomorrow morning. TribbleMom, I was going to wear a Starfleet uniform, but there's that contempt of court thing if I don't wear a suit and tie. It was a good thought though. Of course, I could still answer "Klingons" to every question they ask me...
