^ They're going to the beach while you get to house sit? I think you got the raw end of that deal 24! ![]() So far, we faired very well with tropical storm Fay. We've just gotten a lot of rain. Fortunately for us, it veered East before it hit us so that put us on the West side of the storm - the best place to be. I said, "so far", because it's supposed to come back inland at some point and could still come back at us. School was canceled for my daughter yesterday and today. My wife works for the school system in a different county. That county canceled school yesterday, but not today. So she was able to stay home with our daughter yesterday, but today our daughter is staying at a friend's house. |

I think the season wraps up about early October with a start point around June. Hopefully it doesn't double back on you Impulse. I keep hearing how it might and that once it does it might be up to being an official hurricane. |

We're getting more from Tropical Storm Fay than we've had all week. We were supposed to get hit by it Tuesday or Wednesday. It went by us then with just some rain, but now it has looped back. Now today we're getting some pretty strong wind gusts and LOTS of rain. This morning my office building lost power. After waiting an hour and a half, there was no estimated time for restoring power so they sent us home for the day. Now, at home, my power is blinking a lot. In fact, my computer just restarted while I was in the middle of typing this. I had to type it all over again. I hope we don't lose power here too. Edit: The official hurricane season is from June 1st to November 30th. Edit 2: I just got soaked! It's trash collection day and everyone put their trash and recycling out not knowing if they would actually come and collect it today. I just noticed the recycling bin had blown over and cans and plastic bottles were all over my neighbor's lawn. So I went out and picked it all up. Then I noticed my trash can lid was gone. I walked down the whole street looking for it, but I didn't find it. But, between the heavy down-pouring rain and the literally flooded sidewalks, I got soaked from head to toe!

^^ Stay safe oh soaked one! Did your neighbor poke his head out and laugh at you while you were cleaning up the recyclables?

^ No he didn't , but then everyone was clearly staying inside. ![]() It finally stopped the constant raining this evening, but it still comes and goes. We never lost power and I think we're through the worst of it now. One neighbor lost a tree so, even though it wasn't technically a hurricane, those winds were pretty strong. The storm is just dragging its feet about moving out. |

*Yawn* I am so sleepy. I didn't get much sleep last night. First night over at my brother's house. The bed is so uncomfortable. My neck hurts. The animals want to jump in bed and sleep all over me. ![]() He has an alarm that totally freaks me out. I was so paranoid that I would accidentally set it off in the middle of the night, I just disarmed it. I'll turn it on if I leave the house this weekend, but I'm not messing with it. |

^ That reminds me... When our house was built, we had them put in an alarm system. When you go through the front door, there is a delay of 30 seconds to give you time to get in and disarm it. But the back door and windows give no delay whatsoever. Sure enough, about a week after we moved into the house, I forgot the alarm was set and I tried to walk out the back door in the morning. I found out just how loud our alarm is! And I have never forgotten since! ![]() I hope you get better sleep tonight.

24, I hope you have a peaceful weekend with the critters, despite the uncomfortable bed. Sometimes I really do understand that saying, "The more I work with people, the more I like my dog." It was a pretty trying week at work, and I'm quite amazed that we aren't working today. I think this is the first August I've ever worked there that we haven't been working Saturdays to prepare for our big Labor Day sales in our various retail locations. (We are working overtime during the week, though). IE, glad to hear that the storm wasn't any worse than that. Hopefully that will be the last time Florida gets hit so directly this year. |

Thanks TribbleMom, I hope things calm down for you at work. I bet people are going to try and stock up on gear for when the weather turns warm again next year and to prepare for the winter sports too? |

Actually, this coming week promises to be rather busy as well. Given that I've been in my department the longest, I tend to take on the biggest, baddest returns that we have to handle. (I have 4.5 years there, and the next most experinced person came to the team only last December). I've got a bulk return coming in that is an older-stock-rotation of over 9000 pieces of sunscreen and lip balm. Well, at least they're little pieces and not 9000 pairs of ski boots. I'm hoping that the weather next weekend will be good enough to allow one more big walk in the high country. I think I'm going to need it! So how are the critters and the house sitting, 24? |

The stock is being returned to you from the local outlets? Also, how does your company usually dispose of returned overstock?
I've got this feeling that fall/winter is coming sooner this year.
Overall, most were manageable. One of the dogs is however becoming aggressive and attacking one of the smaller dogs. Its a territorial/food issue. She has to be fed in a separate area now. I think her behavior is only going to get worse (i.e. she will eventually turn on people...not just animals). The little dog was attacked twice while I was there this weekend despite all of my efforts to keep the peace between the dogs. I have recommended to my brother that the dog be removed from the household. I don't think they will listen to me though because the dog is still nice about 90% of the time. I just don't think she is in the right kind of environment with the rest of the animals. It will probably take something tragic happening before they decide to remove her. I''m glad to be home.

Yes, the stock is coming from several of our branch stores. It's my job to verify the accuracy of the transfers (i.e., count all 9000+ of them), package it all up (sorting by type), UPS it to back to the vendor, and then follow-up later to get the credit memo. |

Oooh, sounds like a potentially bad situation. If they can keep the dogs separated, all the better for the time being, but I think you're right that it's just going to eventually escalate. This may sound a little crazy, but a call to an animal communicator may be in order to avoid that, if they wish to keep the fiesty dog. At least an animal communicator (a doggie "shrink") can help pinpoint the cause of the behavior, which may lead to a peaceful resolution. I used to think that animal communicators were a bunch of quacks until I needed one a few years back for an older male cat that was beginning to spray all over the house. We resolved the issue, and the cat stopped spraying. |

That's an interesting suggestion. I hadn't thought of that. Not sure how receptive they would be to trying it. That's pretty cool that the communicator was able to help you with your cat. Cat's spraying can be highly annoying. Thankfully my cat has never done that. I've had a few unneutered strays coming through and spreading their love everywhere though.

I’ve been around, but I haven’t had time to engage in much online conversation for the last day or so. I will be able to catch back up on the threads tonight. Intrepid, I’ve got my supplies ready just in case we get more than just rain. I bought some extra water/charcoal on Monday too. Those kinds of supplies will be off the shelves by tomorrow I predict. |

I don't think Hanna will present any problems for my area, but Ike isn't looking very good for us right now. I thought that about Hanna too though. In any case, we're prepared for the worst at my house. We always are at this time of year. Hanna isn't looking good for 24 though and it might even send some rain in Intrepid's direction. This is starting to resemble 2004 with all these storms in a row. |

Tonight's forecast seems to indicate that Hanna isn't going to pack the punch that everyone originally thought, but any heavy rain can still be problematic. Best of luck to all our South and East Coast friends here. Let's hope Ike fizzles out as well! |
