Hello all.

I'm going to be sporadic with posting these next few days. My father had a stroke. This is his second episode. I'm a little worried and concerned this time around.

Please keep good thoughts for my Dad.

I am very sorry to hear that Intrepid. :(

I will be hoping for a speedy recovery for your father. You all (yourself, your father and family) will be in my thoughts!

Please take care of yourself. When you get the time, please drop in and give us an update on his health.

Intrepid,

I too am very sorry to hear that. I know exactly what that's like because my father had a severe stroke back in 1995. Thankfully, he's still alive to this day, but he has had complete right-side paralysis and an inability to speak beyond "yes" and "no" since that time. I certainly hope your father fairs better than mind did.

You, your father, and your family are in my thoughts.

24, can I borrow your air conditioner since it's working again? Friday was 104 degrees in Denver, and yesterday was 103. :whew:

Intrepid, my thoughts are with your father and your family. Keep us posted. We'll all be wishing for a good recovery.

Thanks for the support everyone. Please keep thinking good thoughts. Fortunately, there was no permanent damage that we know of as yet. Unfortunately, he is having seizures more often than ought... There are other "personal" issues that have come to fore and to be honest, for me, the personal issues are more difficult to deal with than the medical issues.

Since when did my humdrum life become a soap opera?

If you all believe in prayer, I'm asking for them. If you don't .... your good thoughts and wishes will help this family get through.

Thanks again everyone.

Intrepid,

That sounds at least a little positive. I'm glad to hear that there is no permanent damage that you know of. Hopefully the seizures can be brought under control soon and, of course, the cause diagnosed. I can only imagine about the personal issues, but these things have a way of bringing them out. I'm still keeping you all in my thoughts.

Intrepid,

I hope your father's health continues to improve and whatever personal issues that are transpiring work themselves out as well.

More positive thoughts being sent your way.

Sorry to hear about the personal issues creating a soap opera for you. But if it weren't for the difficult times, how would we know how to appreciate the calm and easy times? Hopefully the difficulties won't last too long before getting sorted out.

We just completed our 24th consecutive day of 90-or-higher temps today (and a fair number of those have been around 99 - 100's, too). But thankfully it FINALLY rained a little late this afternoon and cooled off. We have been so terribly dry this year in Denver, even Phoenix has had more rain than us. To date, we've had less than 4 inches of precipitation since January 1, and that puts us over 6 inches behind normal.

Yesterday we had a "dry lightning" strike (no accompanying rain) in an open space park just west of town which started a grass fire that eventually burned 300 acres before it was contained. All the grass around here is so parched that it's brown and brittle, it's no wonder that fire grew so quickly. Fortunately, since the strike zone was in an open space park, no structures or lives were lost, though a couple of neighboring housing developments were temporarily evacuated. I can see the blackened area even on my drive to and from work because it's on a raised hillside. The smoke yesterday covered most of Denver.

That still sounds dangerous. Not a lot we can do about mother nature though.

We won't have much longer to wait before it starts to cool off a little more in the evenings. It will be September/October before we know it.

I love Autumn weather.

Which reminds me, a couple of weeks ago there was a day where I thought September came before August. The whole day I kept thinking, I will be glad when September gets here in a couple of weeks. :rotfl:  :P

:woo: It's :raining: again this evening. We really need the moisture. I thought about running outside to :happydance: in the street.

And I get to go :campfire: this weekend. Just those 2 things together make me :yelbanana: :redbanana: That's a good thing, because today was another one of those :throwcomp: days at work.

I never imagined Denver could have such hot days. I always imagined mountains, cooler weather but never 100+ F days. Has it always been like that TribbleMom?

I can't complain about the weather in Pittsburgh. Lately, we've been topping off at 85F that past two weeks. I'm not complaining.

I can't wait for September to be over though. I mean August. ;)

Hey, Intrepid, nice to see you on the boards at the same time.
How is your father doing? And you?

Yes, Denver seems to always experience a good heat wave in the summer, but our previous record for an over-90-degrees stretch was 18 days. This time we got to 24 days. Denver is still low enough on the plains that we get plenty of warmth. The higher up in the mountains you go, the cooler it tends to be, and we're just not at a high enough elevation. Maybe I should "summer" Leadville, which is at something like 9900 feet, and "winter" in Denver.

Oh, Intrepid. I'm sorry I didn't see this sooner. How is your father doing at this time? Coincidently, Joe just heard through his mum about a week ago about his Gran having a stroke, and he can't be there to visit. It's a little hard since he's so far away from home.

I'll be sending positive thoughts for your family.

I'm watching "Rich Bride, Poor Bride" right now (first time watching it), and I have never wanted to punch a guy more. This groom is such a control freak. He wants the wedding to be his way and only his way. The one thing the bride was allowed to do was to have a candy table for the guests. She and her girlfriends go to a bulk candy store to buy candy. The control freak groom showed up (wasn't supposed to be there) and starts throwing candy out of the buggy while having a fit about how it doesn't match the wedding colors. Then he gets in a tug of war with the bride and candy breaks open and spills all over the floor. He caused it, but of course blamed the bride.

The poor girl had to sneak off to pick out her own wedding gown. Which she ended up getting a really cheap gown to try and offset the out of control spending of her groom. He did not want her to wear a veil (more like ordered her not to wear one). She got a small one anyway. :highfive:

This guy was a total prick, and puts to shame any bridezilla that I have ever seen.

The woman is NUTS for marrying him.
